This is a raw and relatable book when it comes to grief and how to move through the emotions. While I’m not super religious, I appreciate how this was put together and how easily it is to focus and meditate on certain scripture passages.

Reflections for the Grieving Soul: Meditations and Scripture for Finding Hope After Loss by Mike Nappa. I am thankful for Nappa sharing this book with us. It is a beautiful book and creates space to process and grieve while turning to the Word. It has taken me over a month to finish this book and each time I have sat down to read a section the tears start flowing.
Grief is so hard to navigate but I think Nappa does such a beautiful job turning to God, honoring his wife, and creating that space to cry. Some of the prayers are so simple in this book yet so powerful.
One of the quotes that I loved at the end of the book is “I can’t solve Jeff’s problems. I can’t heal Jeff’s pain. But maybe what he needs is someone to be sick with him, someone to sit next to him who will cry and curse while he cries and curses.”
I would highly recommend this book to those who are experiencing a season of loss or to those who have friends/loved ones going through this season.

As someone dealing with grief myself, I found this book to be immensely helpful. Mike Nappa openly and beautifully shares his struggles with grief, both during his beloved wife's cancer journey (so many losses along the way!) and in the days and months after her death.

Accompanied with Scripture verses and prayers, each entry touched my heart. Though I read this as a DRC from Zondervan via NetGalley, I plan to buy this book when it's published on 7/18/23. I highly recommend it for any Christian dealing with grief. It would make a wonderful gift.

If you're grieving the loss of a loved one, whether from death or possibly the death of a relationship, Reflections for the Grieving Soul may be a kind companion that meets you right where you are.
