Quite a tense thriller but, difficult to get into. I nearly gave up halfway through but persevered and got to the end. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I really like Jo Spain’s writing, I just think this one was a little slow at the start to get going, but once it did it really took off!
It makes your head spin with the twists and has fascinating characters and a really good plot as well as some fabulous setting locations!

A chillingly crafted mystery thriller. At the end of an idyllic Carribbean honeymoon, Rose breaks down and confesses to her husband Luke, that before they boarded the plane, she killed a violent man from her past, in their London home. What should Like do? Superb.

I went into this book with high expectations after how much I had enjoyed the previous book The last to disappear. But this doesn’t have the same impact.

I give this book 3.5⭐. This was the third book by Jo Spain I have read and it was better than the previous her book. The plot was interesting, generally well structured, with unexpected twists, just the end simply explaining what Rose аnd Kevin planed what they did was a bit boring.

Don't Look Back
Jo Spain

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks so much to Netgalley and author Jo Spain for an advanced reading copy of this book prior to its publication date in exchange for an honest review.

This was an easy 5 star read for me.

Jo Spain is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.

I was gripped from the very start. Jo has this knack of pulling you into the storyline from the get go and keeping you there.

The plot is so cleverly written and the writing just flows seemlessly. It was fast paced with short, grippy chapters. It was not at all predictable, like so many in this genre tend to be and I was left guessing (often wrongly lol) throughout.

The characterisation is excellant. The main characters are so well developed and full of secrets... i could never get a handle on Rose, she just acted different to different people and Luke just appeared to good to be true... this book had so many twists my head was left spinning - in the best way possible! And My God! That ending! Was so unexpected.!

This is definately an action packed read and I had it read in a couple sittings.

I will most definately be recommending this one.

Dont Look Back is out now!
Get ordering Guys, the perfect Summer read!

Enjoy and Happy Reading!

Cant wait to see what Jo Spain comes up with next!

I was drawn to this one by the cover, I thought it looked like a perfect read for the holidays and was right on point for my thriller streak.

The story follows a couple Rose and Luke. They’re on a belated honeymoon in a stunning location however Rose is keeping a secret which she finds herself disclosing on the last day of their holiday. Luke knows he has to help Rose so enlists the help of an old friend Mickey. The story is told from multiple perspectives at it unfolds in the Caribbean and the UK with more and more being revealed about each character and their connections to each other.

This escalated really quickly! I found the start of the story a wee bit farfetched when I was reading if I’m honest and there was one further twist toward the end when the characters true identities are revealed that was again a bit of a WTF moment for me.

This is the first book I’ve read from Jo Spain and although I did find a few things I didn’t quite love I will definitely read more from this author. If you’ve got any recommendations for which of their titles to try next let me know!

This is a psychological thriller jam packed with and lies which are gradually revealed as the story progresses. The suspense! I had no idea how it was going to end.

Luke and Rose decide to get married having only been together a few months. Luke’s friends are suspicious of Rose but Luke is head over heels and can’t see their problem. He sees a vulnerable girl he wants to protect from her violent ex.

When they go on a surprise holiday, Rose drops a huge bombshell. She has murdered her ex and his body is lying in their bedroom at home!

Luke contacts a friend back in London for help, and she gets caught up in the situation.

I was engrossed from the first page to the last.

I had head of Jo Spain as a thriller writer but not tried her books. This, her latest release set against the idyllic backdrop of the Caribbean, seemed a good choice for a first reading as the novel has spawned some mixed reviews so far, so I was intrigued to form my own opinions. The couple at the heart of this novel are affluent Rose and Luke, who can afford to take a trip to such faraway paradisical shores, seemingly at the drop of a hat. It is Rose who whisks Luke away to the Caribbean on what should be their belated honeymoon, only to present him with some bombshell news: they cannot return to London as the body of a violent intruder, whom Rose has killed in self-defence, is lying in their flat. How on earth is Luke supposed to do the dead man justice, protect the woman he loves, and save his own reputation? Lie upon lie from the relationship between Rose and Luke is stripped away until we realise that our first impressions of either individual were completely erroneous. Readers before me have commented on the fact that neither character is genuinely likeable and this is true – but this is nevertheless a riveting read, with some great ancillary characters that help the action along.

I would like to express my special thanks to the publishers and to NetGalley for the free digital ARC that allowed me to read this novel ahead of publication in exchange for this honest, unbiased review.

This is a GREAT psychological thriller!! I am gutted to have finished it, honestly, it has left a void that I'm struggling to fill!! One of those books that is a tough act to follow!

Newly-weds, Luke and Rose, are enjoying an impromptu Caribbean holiday. Luke, utterly smitten, is completely floored when Rose drops the bombshell that she has left a VERY big secret back home in London, that has potentially devastating consequences for both of them. Fortunately, Luke knows Mickey, a woman who can fix many a problem, however when Mickey goes to the scene of the crime, all is not as expected, cue the breaking of much hell and a chain of events that takes us across the globe and through time in a novel that is beyond clever in its use of smoke and mirrors!

The character development was totally on point - I was SO invested in the character of Rose.... and honestly a little bit in love with that of Luke! I absolutely can not recommend this book enough, such a great and original plot - just read this book, I cant see anyone being disappointed, it is just one of those great finds!

My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Luke and Rose meet at the club one evening. A couple of months later, they are married. On their honeymoon, Rose informs look that something terrible had happened before their trip. She had killed a man and his body was still lying in their apartment. The first chapters of this story had me hooked. I was so curious about the murder and aftermath. Every new twist had me at the edge of my seat.

I wasn’t so sure about Luke and Rose as they both seemed to be hiding secrets. I was however drawn to Mickey right from the start. Her personal strength and line of work impressed me from the start. Her team of investigators was also quite well portrayed. In general, even though I didn’t like Luke or Rose, I still enjoyed the character development and portrayal of both the main and support characters.

The pacing of the story was not consistent for me. It started off quite fast and I was so intrigued. At some point, it slowed down and some chapters did feel quite slow with nothing much going on. Luckily, these was short and the pace picked up again towards the end. The inconsistency was my only niggle with this book.

With great writing, plenty of twists and very interesting characters and location, this was definitely a fantastic, captivating read for me.

Your dream island. The love of your life. A secret that changes everything…

For one week, everything in Luke Miller’s life is perfect. His wife Rose has surprised him with a belated honeymoon. On the day that they are to leave the Caribbean, Rose breaks down and confesses a devastating secret to Luke…she killed her abusive ex-partner when he broke into their apartment. Luke promises to stand by her and contacts an old friend back in London to help them. But there’s more to this story than meets the eye…

Jo excels at bringing her readers into the most exhilarating and addictive thrillers and Don’t Look Back is no exception. I consumed (inhaled really!) this book over a couple of days and didn’t want to put it down. The perfect thriller summer read with so many twists that your head will be left spinning!

The author knows how to write a story that captivates you and the ending of this book is so unexpected and absolute perfection! I love when an author can blindside you with an element in their story! I’ve read so many thrillers over the years but Jo excels at messing with her readers’ head and each one of her books hits the spot!

If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, Don’t Look Back needs to be on your TBR. Perfect for fans of Andrea Mara, Sam Holland, Will Dean and Shari Lapena. Thanks to Quercus and NetGalley for the arc. Don’t Look Back is out now!
