I have two nephews who are addicted to Macro related meals - one is a gym rat and the other is married to a naturopath so I wanted to check out what they talk about incessantly. (That and alkaline meals!)

I am going to give you part of the book's synopsis in case, like me, you are not 100% sure what macro cooking and eating is:

“Why macros?” Nutrition expert and food writer Rachel Werner explains how fueling your body requires more than a few superfoods and why macro-focused eating provides holistic sustenance. She breaks down this complex topic into manageable bites, with a terminology “cheat sheet” that includes:
*Simple Carbs
*Complex Carbs
*Carb Tolerance
*Protein (animal protein vs. plant protein)
*Fat (trans fat vs. saturated fat vs. unsaturated fat)
*Flexible Dieting
* Micronutrients
Werner further provides a ratio guide to help you vary your macro ratios for specific health goals. She also presents what goes in a macro-forward pantry, including 15 staple ingredients plus the 7 essential kitchen tools to get you started.

Yes, a lot of information but if you want to eat macro-wise, I imagine that this would be the book to get started with. It seems like a lot of work to me and with most of my clients just struggling to afford food and housing, I am not sure how many would use it. I think that I would leave it in the realm of "if they ask for it, I will recommend this" but I won't suggest the book unless they are asking about macros or healthy eating or even just a balanced diet. (I normally say to my clients "eat what you can afford and take vitamins to make up the difference!")

I really like how colorful this book cover is and it definitely caught my eye. The book itself is really interesting and informative. I loved how the recipes also included pictures. I think pictures play a very important role in cresting recipes at home.

The only thing I did not like was the “flexitarian” where you are mainly plant based but eat meat. Just say you’re an omnivore. Not all omnivores eat meat in every single meal or day.

The design of this book is excellent making it easy to read and use. There is plenty of information that is explaining macros and how to calculate them that is really helpful. There is a nice range of recipes however most of them personally aren't recipes I would personally want to do

For someone new to macros this has some of the necessary information but still is tracking foods which I don't believe is sustainable...

Macro Cooking Made Simple was the perfect book for someone like me who has heard of macros, but never understand what they were or how to do the calculations. I learned a lot of great information and look forward to making many of the yummy and healthy recipes! Full of beautiful illustrations too.

OK, I am so glad I have access to this wonderfully challenging cookbook. Macro Cooking Made Simple is putting me in the perfect spring-time mood, and as Spring rounds the corner, I'm looking for so many clean and green recipes to consume and distribute to my family and friends and I think I'll be able to do so with Rachel Werner's expertise.
