Tom Rollins has returned to his hometown and has met up with an old girlfriend. That part of the story was nice, the other part was that a new drug was making its way around the streets of his home town and he did not like that, especially with the thought that no one was doing anything about it. If you have read any of the other books you know what is going to happen and the remainder of the book is full of action and him taking out the people who are part of the drug scene. Another good story and very much worth the read.
Last Stand by Paul Heatley.
A Tom Rollins Action Thriller Book 8.
Tom Rollins returns to his hometown Hopper Creek and starts to build a life there. He finds a job, gets a place to live, and reunites with an old girlfriend. All good so far. But something is horribly wrong with the town. A dark underbelly threatens to engulf the community. And the local cops seem to be in on it. A designer drug called Flakka has flooded the streets. Tom, a former special operative, has seen what drugs can do when left unchecked. And he's not going to let it happen on his own doorstep. Meanwhile, something sinister is happening in nearby Santa Fe. Someone is abducting homeless people and harvesting their organs. When one of their victims shows up in Hopper Creek, Tom feels it's his duty to investigate. What he uncovers is beyond horrifying, a web of criminality that connects dealer and harvesters.
Brilliant read. I love this series. 5*.
Fast paced thriller. One man's war against the drug dealers in his home town.Interesting characters and a good read.
The story is well written, easy and entertaining to read, and has a very good pace. This time the plot is much more intricate and almost plausible, making this an interesting book.
Once again I must thank Inkubator Books and Netgalley for supplying me with this great author's work. Last Stand by Paul Heatley is the eighth book about Tom Rollins. In this book he returns to his hometown and finds out that it is flooded by drugs and especially one gang that terrorises the people. The story evolves into the disappearance of homeless people and another gang that deals in organs. This is a very dark story told as usual with superb penmanship by Heatley. I am glad I found this author and his work.
The novel starts out with a great hook: a homeless victim is abducted by two men using chloroform, leading to Tom Rollins doing what he does best. I was glued to it until the end. Paul Heatley is a really good author and with this carefully plotted tale he excels himself, and I have read all of his novels, so I ought to know. Needless to say I hugely enjoyed the novel, and look forward to seeing the next one. Highly recommended.
