Wow...what a tragic story! I feel so much for the family & all they had to go through, especially when it seems like it could have been prevented.
I'm sure it took a lot of courage to tell the story, thank you for your frank honesty.
I enjoyed reading about Georgia. Lynette did a great job telling her story & fighting for justice for her.
Thanks to Netgalley & the Publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
What a sad memoir! It was beautifully written, but such a hard read due to the heavy material.
It is about the life of Georgia and how her life was cut short by a horrible person.
Even though the material is hard it was fabulously written.
Thank you
I received a free copy of, Our Georgia, by Lynette Williams, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Georgia Williams was brutally murdered by a man she considered a friend. Jamie is a sick individual who should of been put away before this happened to Georgia. Georgia was a lovely girl who had her whole life ahead of her, until it was cut short. This is a well written book about a horrible man.

A heartbreaking and moving story of Georgia told by her parents.
Georgia was found murdered by a friend.
It was devastating for her family and you could tell she was really loved.
Thank you for sharing.
Very moving read about the loss of a daughter on the cusp of adulthood who is taken from her family in a horrific manner. Such a tragedy. I feel their pain and wish them peace.
naturally, this book left me devastated and sick to my stomach. i can’t even begin to fanthom how someone can do this to another person. just reading about it was very distressing and i urge future readers to be aware of that.
that being said, certainly georgia’s family deserves to tell her story. this book was written by georgia’s mother, who offers a unique perspective into the aftermath of losing a child in such a gruesome way. i think this is very important because people who explore true crime tend to forget that at the end of the day, there is a family suffering for the rest of their lives.
it also brings to light all the failures of different organisations. it is horrible that so many mistakes were made and these organisations just didn’t communicate with each other. if they had taken the previous assaults and various other signs seriously, in my opinion it would have been very obvious that he was a ticking time bomb. as if that wasn’t bad enough, i am appalled at the way georgia’s father is treated by the police force. naturally it was going to be uncomfortable to launch an investigation into a force you still work for, but the bullying and harassment is just unbelievable.
i can’t ever put myself in the shoes of georgia’s family and all i can say is that i admire the strength they bring to the fight for justice for their daughter.
for obvious reasons, i’m not rating this book.

I remember this being on the news and being shocked that it turned out to be a 'friend' of Georgia's. This book was a real page turner and I read it until 230 am 2 nights running. It describes the life of a loving family that is turned upside down and inside out. What they went through was horrendous. I felt the enormous pressure put on the parents, in addition to what had happened to Georgia and I feared for their mental health and stamina. I cried for her, her family and all her friends. A very well written and very moving book.
Wow! What a sad sad story! A parents worst nightmare! And to think it could’ve been avoided if the authorities had just listened! I’m glad we got a look into how wonderful of a young woman Georgia was and all the depths her parents went to to fight for her! Please check trigger warnings with this one!
Georgia Williams was 17 when she was murdered by friend Jamie Reynolds who then took photographs of himself sexualy assaulting her as part as a sick fantasy. He'd lured her to his home under the pretence that she would be taking part in a photo shoot. Her family later found out he was obsessed with snuff movies including woman being hung, that's what he'd done to Georgia.
There were psychiatrists and psychologists that warned agencies including the police that this man was dangerous all of which were ignored.
Lynn and Steve Georgia's parents questioned the events leading to their daughter's death at the time Steve was a highly commented murder squad detective serving with West Mercia Police the same force that had had Reynolds in there sights years before their daughters death.
In this powerful moving memoir Lynnette and Steve expose the many failures that let Reynolds infiltrate their daughter's life and allowed him to kill.
We learn what an amazing girl Georgia was her love for life and for the people around her and the powerful strength of the family's quest for justice.

Such a sad and grim tale, but Georgia's parents sheer determination was inspiring. Her mother writes movingly about her early life and their joy in their family, before it was all taken away from them by a heartless, mindless killer. West Mercia Police have a lot to answer for, and the fact that Georgia's father was treated so badly by his own police force, after her death, is appalling. Heart-wrenching throughout, an essential read.
A glimpse into this family’s private horror. This was the most intensely moving, and gut wrenching account told from the most personal point of view. At times I felt great sadness and anger along with the author. The ball dropped by law enforcement time and time again leading to this tragedy is disappointing, but taking into account the relationship between the two make it so much angering. Law enforcement was more worried about how they looked and trying to covering up their mistakes, rather than taking accountability for them and being there for one of their own. This book helps to shed light on the flawed system by showing just how often victims and their families fall through the cracks. This family went through two separate traumas, losing their daughter in a horrific way and then being let down by the very system the father had given most of his life to. I did find a few points in the book drawn out and very repetitive. I am glad this story has the message of watching for red flags in other, even if they are your “friend”.
Thank you NetGalley for the E-arc.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
This book is the true life story of the brutal murder of Georgia, and her families battle for justice. It was a long battle due to police incompetence as well as the murder itself.
This story was heartbreaking, but also massively eye opening as to how the police seemed to care more about covering themselves than facing the responsibility they have to this family, and the public. I was quite disgusted at how the police treated this family, especially considering Georgia’s father was a serving member of the force. The determination this family has shown is breathtaking, and amazing. They have not faltered in their fight to try and change the future of policing, for future families that become victims of crime. This was the first time I’d heard of Georgia, and I feel a part of Georgia and her story will always stay in the back of my mind. I am sure that Georgia is proud of her family, and their fight for justice.
