I believe this is the ending of the series, and it was wrapped up on a very satisfying note for me. This book had some elements thrown in that are perfect for the upcoming Halloween season. There are ghosts and hauntings mixed in with the wonderful contemporary romance and a dog that everyone loved.
Emma and Josh were perfect for each other...even if it took them awhile to get there. I felt like their fake romance didn't fool anyone but them. Good try, guys!
I read this while recovering from Covid and I will say that it was a wonderful distraction!
Thanks to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
Just when I think that Debbie Mason couldn't outdo herself...she did!! I absolutely LOVED Reunited on Sugar Maple Road. I am sad to see the series end, but it ended on an amazing note! I loved everything about the story. While I could summarize the story and give away things, I won't do that. What I will do is review on the characters and how the author hit this story out of the ballpark.
The characters are complex and lovable. Emma has been dealing with some sad and heartbreaking problems. Losing her fiancé was heartbreaking but what happened after nearly broke my heart. I guess I get pulled into the story where the characters become my imaginary friends and I hurt when they hurt. Throw in a dog and I'm a goner.
Josh has known Emma for so long that he treats her like a little sister. But since she has moved back to Highland Falls, he is seeing her in a different light. Josh has had some heartache in his life, and he is dealing the best he can, and he tries to help Emma get back into the dating pool.
Of course, a fall story wouldn't be a good story unless it had a supposedly haunted house, witches and ghosts. This was quite the surprise to read about the ghosts and haunted house. It gave the story the push that made it amazing! I couldn't put my tablet down because I just had to know how it was going to end.
Debbie Mason is a brilliant romance writer and I have loved every book I have read. She pulls her readers in from the first chapter and makes you fall in love with the small towns, characters, and the story. In Reunited on Sugar Maple Road, she dabbles in the paranormal and I would love to see a series where she writes more about it. I'm never disappointed when I read a Debbie Mason book. Can we talk about the beautiful cover! Absolutely love the covers in this series.
HIGHLY recommend this book and series! Wish I could give it a gazillion star rating. It would be well deserved.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever publishing for allowing me to read an advanced digital copy.
This is one of those stories that pulled me in from the very first chapter. It has every thing I love in a book. Wonderful characters, descriptive settings, heartwarming and emotional moments, the perfect touch of humor, a dog you can't help but love, a bit of paranormal (ghosts in a haunted house), a mystery to solve, family , friends and romance between two people not sure if they are ready to move on but might just be perfect for each other. Em and Josh's story is a winner for me. Both are first responders in a small town and risk their lives to help others. Another aspect of the book that kept me quickly turning the pages. Debbie Mason has written another beautiful, heartwarming story.
This is the end of a wonderful series. Highland Falls is a series that will stay will me for a long time.
The story is a bit of romance and suspense mixed together. Emma and Josh are destined to be together but try not to commit to the feelings they have for each other. The story combines all the right elements that made me fall into the story from beginning to end.
This is a series I highly recommend to others.
Thank you NetGalley, Debbie Mason and Forever (Grand Central Publishing). This is my personal review.
Emma Scott is a Highland Falls police officer who lost her fiancé in a tragic accident. She has not been herself since the accident and hasn't had the same zest for life. She really has no desire to be in a relationship, as she's just trying to make it day by day through life.
Josh Callahan is the best friend of Emma's brother and he is also a football coach and a volunteer firefighter. He also has suffered the end of his relationship, but his was because his wife left him by choice, which didn't devastate him any less. He's in the same spot as Emma with no desire to be in a relationship.
After Emma and Josh are thrown together by circumstances neither of them could have foreseen, they realize that they can help one another by fake dating. It will help to get all of the well wishing people in their lives off their backs while they deal with what they are going through. Will their friendship remain intact or will deeper feelings grow?
We were also treated to a storyline that surrounded a haunted house and murder mystery that added some additional flair to the book. This definitely added intrigue and mystery to what was happening with the interpersonal relationships. I feel like I read this at a great time given we are just getting ready to head into fall. It gave me lots of fall vibes! Definitely one to pick up!

A good end of sumner read with romance and suspense mixed together. .Throw in things from the past along with a smattering of ghosts in a haunted house and it makes for a great story. I really enjoyed this one.
Reunited in Sugar Maple Road is the sixth and final book in Debbie Mason’s Highland Falls Series. This is Emma and Josh’s story and it’s a good one. Debbie Mason is a very talented and gifted writer and she proves that in this series and story. This is a heartwarming story that will make you laugh and cry, sometimes together. It is filled with family and family drama, friendship, second chances, love, loss and a haunted house with ghosts mixed in. Perfectly paced, Ms. Mason always makes you feel a part of the story. So pack your bags and head on down to Highland Falls, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, Forever and Debbie Mason for another great book to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

This is a story of two souls who are more alike than they realize. Emma Scott is a Highland Falls police officer who lost her future husband in a tragic accident. It is very apparent that she has mostly lost her will to live. She is functioning on as little wattage as she has to in order to make people leave her alone. Josh Callahan is Emma's brother's best friend. He is a coach and a volunteer firefighter. His heart has been broken in a different fashion in that his beloved just left him. He has no desire to be in relationship. After an accident, they are kind of thrown together and both realize they can help the other one.
The story was sad and happy at the same time. They decide to play the game and date each other. They both go into this scheme with no intentions of anything ever coming of it. You can see the immediate attraction. I loved the characters in the story, especially Emma's over protective brother. Emma is a sad lady, but she does care about other people. You will see a particular scene in the beginning of the book that shows she cares for others.
There is a little haunted house and murder mystery to solve as well. The haunted portion is G-rated and just for fun. I have to confess I was a little weirded out by her talking to her deceased boyfriend. I was not expecting this portion of the story, but it did add an element of intrigue to the story. The first chapter pulled me into the story and made me long for fall. Just looking at the cover of the book will make you want to curl up with a blanket and warm by the fire with a little pumpkin spice on the side.
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was the final book in the Highland Falls series.I’m definitely one who likes to read the entire series in order . I had the rest of the series and my mom had read them but I hadn’t yet. I started the series on August 10 and finished it today. I highly recommend this series.Reunited on Sugar Maple Road has a Fall and Halloween theme so it’s great for a late September or October read.
Emma Scott has returned to Highland Falls after a double tragedy that has left her not wanting any long-term relationships and becoming a workaholic in her job on the local police force. Well-meaning friends have been trying to get her interested in a social life, but Emma is not having it. Long time family friend Josh Callahan steps up to the plate to help her out in a fake relationship. Emma once had a big crush on Josh and that chemistry is still there. Although it drives Emma crazy that he is always ‘Mr. Cheerful’ and helping the town being a big hero. Emma just wants to do her job and sit home with the dog and a bowl of ice cream. But does she really want to do it alone? Emma is still grieving, and Josh is the town heartbreaker. They both have a lot of baggage from their past to get to the present and see a future together.
These two are fighting the inevitable and while working on finding out why a local house is haunted and who was murdered in the house many years ago, those long-ago feelings they both have returned and can the two figure it out. A lot of fake dating is required and the whole town is working to get these two to see what is right in front of them, a love that will be lasting.
I like this story. I liked that Emma and Josh were both feeling the same things for each other and fighting hard not to commit their true feelings, especially Emma. I like how the whole town gets in on their dating life and ghost, witches and kids get in on the action. A good read for the upcoming Halloween season, so curl up with your fav beverage under a warm blanket on a cool autumn night to read it.
I love Debbie Mason’s books! They are cozy romances with excellent characters and lots of small town drama.
This one was a bit heavy at times (especially in the beginning), and there were some moments where the characters felt like they were portrayed younger than their age. But it was so much fun to read!
But I loved the progression of the relationship and the supernatural element was a fun addition.
I also loved catching up with previous characters and I'm sad it's the last of the Highland Falls series.
Emma suffered a horrible loss when her fiance was killed and she miscarried their baby so she moved home and wrapped herself up in her work as a police officer, Except that there are ghosts that talk to her, And Josh, Josh is her brother's BFF and he's coped with a divorce by dating indiscriminately, A chance meeting, when Emma saves a family, brings these two back together, Then they decide to fake date to take the pressure of their friends and family off, Except that that fake dating turns more serious. Mason has done a nice job with the rest of the story- the ghosts, the cold case murder mystery- and that's what sets this apart from the trope. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC, A very good read,

Well, well, well..this read was certainly an unexpected surprise.
Emma Scott just wanted people off her back. The workaholic cop from Highland Falls has built an emotional wall around herself after her fiancé and work partner died over a year ago. Throwing herself at her work has her family and friends on level-10 concern about her when she just wanted to be left alone.
Enter the solution to her well-meaning problem: Josh Callahan. Her older brother's best friend is not looking for any commitment either after being burned by marriage before. Trying to fix his reputation as Highland Fall's resident lothario, he offers his services as a fake boyfriend to Emma to get everyone off their backs. It shouldn't be a hard sell; after all, as a volunteer in the town's fire rescue and the high school football coach, it would not be a stretch to fall for the likes of him.
As with every well-intentioned fake relationship, the lines start to blur, but can Josh convince Emma that he is worth the HEA?
This book delivered the sweet romance it promised and offered a healthy side dish of suspense and mystery that I was not prepared for. Did I mention that there is also some paranormal stuff involved? I mean, it was definitely a pleasant surprise on top of the wonderful chemistry between our main characters. I love the progression of their relationship from somewhat friends to lovers, and that plotline was nicely balanced with the action, suspense, and mystery.
This is apparently the last in a series, but as a newbie, I was fine with the read as a standalone. There are characters that I suspect are from previous books in the series, but I got enough context to follow along.
** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Debbie Mason, Forever Publishing, and NetGalley for providing an ARC. **
This is the last book in the Highland Falls series, but, it can be read as a stand alone. This book was great and a fitting end to the series. We got to see where many past characters are and how their lives are progressing. The main characters are Josh and Emma, both are grieving the loss of their partners in very different ways. Josh has become a serial dater and Emma has closed herself off from everyone.
It was lovely seeing how the two main characters learned to connect to each other. This was just a fun read. The character development and story progression was very well done. Reading a story by Debbie Mason never disappoints.
Thank you to Netgalley and Forever books for the ARC.
A great story full of love and tears about a woman who is stuck in a place of mourning for her late fiancé and baby. While everyone around her is working to get her back out into the world, she gets the motivation to do so from an unexpected source.
There were a lot of teary moments in the first section of this book, which is why I gave it four stars. If you don't mind all those heartbreaking moments, it is definitely a 5 star story. Thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this "friends to lovers" story! I also liked the haunted house/family mystery that was included in this book. I am sad that this is the last book in this series, because I really love Highland Falls, it's residents and their stories and these books have brought me many hours of enjoyment!
This was a nice story with some paranormal elements, which I have to admit usually isn’t my favorite genre. However, it was a fun story to read!
Fabulous! This is a story of loss and love. Emma lost the love of her life to a tragic accident and has no desire to go on. As Halloween approaches, Emma seems to be able to communicate with the spirit world - her recently passed fiancé among others that need her help to set them free. A near death experience makes that ability even stronger. Only her brother's best friend believes her without question. A serial dater, Josh finally realizes that the reason he never makes it past two dates is because he is in love with Emma. Her brother would kill him if he knew how Josh felt about her. What's a guy to do! Everyone tells Emma she needs to move on. Maybe fake dating Josh would get everyone to leave her alone. But are their feelings for each other truly Fake!

I really loved the story of Emma and Josh. They both had previous loves loses and no matter the type, it is always hard.. The fact that Josh believed in her said a lot. When they wanted to explore their feelings, they did and I feel it was such a good ending. to the book and series. a very good time of year and the Halloween season. The haunted house and everything made it all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend this book and series to everyone who enjoys a A GREAT READ.
Emma Scott moved back home after her fiancé was murdered and she lost their baby. She is working for the police department in town and seems to just work all the time.
Josh is her brothers BFF and they grew up together; he is the high school football coach. Josh is known for being a serial dater since his divorce.
One night on her way home she witnessed a car going off the road into the river. She jumps in to save the family of three; Josh is a volunteer firefighter and arrives on the scene and dives to save Emma. Emma had a crush on Josh as a teenager; but now she just manages to put one foot in front of the other each day.
Emma and Josh decide to fake date to get everyone to back off on their lives.
Great story line with Emma trying to save a 100-year-old murder and teens trying to sneak into a haunted house.
