I really enjoyed this series! I liked how each book featured different characters, but was still in the same location and had the other characters in it as well. I thought Emma and Josh would be this book's main characters and I was happy to read about their story. I thought the series would continue with Raine and Quinn, but the author's note said this was the final Highland Falls book. I look forward to the author's next series, which I'm sure I will enjoy as much as this one!
Highland Falls police office Emma Scott agrees to fake date her brother’s best friend Josh Callahan. Emma lost her fiancé over a year ago and Josh went through a devastating divorce. Neither one is looking for a relationship. Fate (and the supernatural) has other plans.
A heartwarming story about love, loss, new beginnings, and more. And ghosts! I laughed and cried and totally loved this story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Highland Falls is a small town where every knows your business. Emma Scott is a police officer still morning the death of her fiancé and fellow officer over a year ago. She turns into a workaholic. She has a near death experience while rescuing a family whose car runs into a river Josh Callahan is a high school football coach and volunteer firefighter. He helps resuscitate Emma. They’ve know each other forever and he is best friends with her older brother Cal. Cal and wife Bri (Emma’s best friend) were the love interest in the previous book in the series.
The blurb focuses on the idea that the two start fake dating to stop the town from setting her up with people and to improve his image as a serial dater. But I thought that was silly as they actually reveal it’s fake to lots of people. I did like them spending time together. And I liked Gus the dog.
This book is coming out for fall before Halloween and supernatural elements. There is a murder and witch mystery around a haunted house and other paranormal activities. This is all clean and the favorite movie references is to Hocus Pocus. This finishes the Highland Falls series. I only gave one star to the previous book so I’m glad I enjoyed this one more. But brother Cal is over the top in his reactions to his sister dating. The covers continue to draw me to the authors books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review. (3.5 Stars)
I loved this book. Could not put it down. What a wonderful end to the series!
This was Josh and Em's story, and it was a great one. Both of them are fighting their attraction for each other, as well as their pasts. Finding a balance between honoring those we lost, friends we have, and current feelings we have is not always easy. Josh and Em have a lot to work through personally, as well as the investigation into two different situations, both involving the house said to be haunted. Lots of action, lots of guessing, and of course some ghosts sprinkled in. Highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read and review this book in return for a fair review.
This is the last book in Debbie Mason’s Highland Falls series, and is Josh and Em’s story but I will hope that somewhere down the line Debbie will see a “next gen” to this series. I really like the town and all the people in it! I’ve enjoyed getting to know these characters and am glad that she helped us know Josh and Em before she heads to a new town for another series. There’s a classic brother’s best friend quandary for Em to come to grips with after she tries to leave part of her past behind. There’s a secret she’s kept for years. Small towns don’t usually have secrets, but Em has one that takes courage to address. I loved seeing how this played out, with several good diversions to the love story that was bound to develop. Great read.
This is book six in the Highland Falls series and Debbie Mason has written another terrific story. The main characters Emma and Josh were introduced in the last story and it is nice to have their stories told. Emma is dealing with a terrible loss and Josh is also getting over heartbreak. These two characters who have known each other for years give us both laughter and tears as they "try" not to become involved. It is a wonderful story of friends becoming more and finding a way to move past loss and heartbreak to a better and happier life. A great story with lots of ups and downs emotionally that will have you unable to put the book down until you find out how things turn out.
I have loved this series and this is a wonderful last book. This story line was awesome. Do you believe in ghosts? I don’t not believe in them. Thanks to Em and her friends some great folks were able to cross over. I love the characters and will miss them, but look forward to the next great series by Debbie Mason. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
I haven't read anything else in this series and still really enjoyed it. A little mystery a little romance and just fun fiction. I am thinking it would even better, as the finale of the series, for those who've read the all, but I enjoyed as a standalone.

Highland Falls police officer Emma Scott is a workaholic who doesn’t do small talk, hugs, or anything else touchy-feely. Ever since her fiancé’s death over a year ago, Emma’s been sleepwalking through life, and her family is growing increasingly worried about her. Enter Josh Callahan, her brother’s best friend. Josh is obnoxiously good-looking and, even more annoyingly, in a perpetually cheerful mood. Though he may drive her crazy, his suggestion to fake date him is brilliant because there are no feelings involved. At least, not at first. Josh Callahan is a fun-loving guy who is all about friends, family, and community. After his wife left him, he committed to staying uncommitted, except now he’s earned the nickname “Heartbreaker of Highland Falls.” Spending time with Emma will improve his rep while she can remember what it means to get out and enjoy life again. And his plan works…until Josh realizes that the feelings he has for Emma are all too real. But is Emma ready to share her heart again?
This is a delightful #hallmarkchannel romance. It has some fun twists and turns in the plot regarding an abandon house that keep you interested and wondering. The romance was very sweet and the characters are both enjoyable and people you wish you knew in real life! I would definitely recommend this book!

If you like Hallmark movies you’ll like this Debbie Mason book. Good story about Em, who’s getting over a tragic loss, and her lifelong friend Josh. Throw in some haunted houses, supposed witches, and trying to solve an old murder mystery makes this book very enjoyable. The ending got a little too mushy for me, but was good in true gushy romance books and movies.
Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy
This book is a perfect fall read. You have Football, Halloween, a deceased fiance who is a ghost and a haunted house with a family of ghost. Em has a lot of healing to do and her brothers best friend Josh is the one to help with this. She has a lot of heart ache from the loss she has suffered. A tough cookie who going soften as this story evolves. So many personalities and great story lines. Friends and family are a huge part of this book and I enjoyed getting to know them and their stories. Debbie I have not been disappointed in any book of yours I have read.
I love Debbie Mason books, and this one was really good. It was set in the fall, lovely setting, and great characters.
This book is number six in the Highland Falls series and features Em and Josh. We first met both of these characters in the previous book (Bri and Cal’s story). Em is a Cal’s sister, a police officer still reeling from the death of her beloved fiancé in the line of duty. All of her family thinks she should be starting to get out more and to start dating again, but she doesn’t feel anywhere near ready to do any of that. Josh is a Cal’s best friend, a teacher/firefighter, a local heartbreaker and serial dater not ready to get serious again after his ex-wife left him and broke his heart. After a near death experience the scrutiny of her life intensifies and in a desperate attempt to fend off the matchmakers of Highland Falls, Em agrees to fake date Josh. The trouble is that in high school she had a very real crush on her older brother’s best friend. As things start to shift between Em and Josh, Em struggles with if she can ever love again and let go of her first love. In addition to the love story, there is an interesting mystery, a haunted house, and some supernatural happenings. A fun heartwarming story that would be great to read around Halloween! Another great book by Debbie Mason! I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.
Emma was something of a workaholic as she was having trouble moving on from losing her husband and baby. Josh is attracted to her, but she isn't ready to move on. An older woman in town gives her a prediction that freaks her out and she starts to rush home. She sees another car roll into the river and jumps into to save the family. It's touch and go for awhile if she would succeed or die trying. She almost didn't make it back from the drowning. Josh takes over taking care of her and something is growing between them. The story shows how hard it is to move on and when you see your loved one and he tells you it's time, you try to listen. It was a sweet story that I really enjoyed
I got this story from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
This is such a heartwarming story. Emma and Josh are such great characters.my heart broke for Emma and Brad. Those scenes just tugged on my heartstrings. There’s a lot of angst and mystery in the book. I really enjoyed it a lot. I read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
A sweet fall romance. For someone who's favorite season is fall I don't think we have enough fall romances and I always jump at the chance to read them when they come out.
I could not stop reading this! Fake dating after trauma, for both sides, this is such a great book. I read this in one sitting and could not put it down. I loved it!! And I love Emma and Josh!
I just reviewed Reunited on Sugar Maple Road by Debbie Mason. #NetGalley

Debbie Mason has another success with this story. The characters, the setting with romance, humor, fun, and more. You can't go wrong with a Debbie Madon book. I am eagerly looking forward to her next book.
Reunited on Sugar Maple Road by Debbie Mason is the most recent entry in the Highland Falls series. Emma Scott, a local police officer, is still grieving her fiance's death. Josh, football coach/firefighter, is her brother's best friend and has been hurt by a past relationship. These two decide to 'fake date' to reacquaint themselves with the dating experience and escape some of the pressure from friends and family. The story line includes a haunted house, century-old unsolved murders/deaths, threats, a relatively happy group of town witches, and a ghost of a past love. Interesting premise but I feel it was especially disjointed in presenting/uncovering the mystery. It seems that not having read the other books in this series put me at a disadvantage. (A character is mentioned, but it isn't discussed who she is until about 25 pages later.)
Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing), Debbie Mason and NetGalley for this ARC.
I LOVED this book! It had me crying and then laughing throughout the entire thing.
Emma lost her fiancé in such a tragic way and Josh, her brother's best friend, went through a divorce he never saw coming. They leaned on each other as friends but both soon realized what they really felt for each other was love. It was a truly heartwarming book with Emma seeing her fiancé' Brad's ghost and Josh getting Brad's blessing for them to be together. I definitely recommend reading Reunited on Sugar Maple Road. It will have you in tears and then laughing and smiling.
Thank you Debbie Mason, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), & Netgalley for this ARC!
