If I could pick a book to turn it into a psychological thriller movie adaptation, I would pick this one!

If you like Criminal Minds you definitely should pick this up. It got similar plot and vibes with a chilling twist.

This book is started when Tracy dropped the bomb on her husband to ask for a divorce out of nowhere. They had a kid, happy life together, so it was very shocking for Malcolm to accept the news. A few moments later, Tracy was found missing and Malcolm was the prime suspect. As a fan if crime tv shows, the husband would be the culprit right?

Yeah well, this book will change your mind.

Not only Tracy was found missing, but another woman was found dead also,and on the same day. Coincidence? I don't think so...

So.... I thought this was such a fun read! I kinda expected the twist, but how it all comes together at the end was perfectly executed. Each character got a something to hide and no one is innocent until the real culprit comes to light. I couldn't dive deep as to keep the spoilers intact, but I could say this book makes me feels like rewatching Criminal Minds and CSI. I believe the author did a great job potraying the characters, making each of them guilty of somethings, the writings were good as well, and the twist was well-delivered.

A most unusual read for me.
To start with i found it so slow i almost gave up but boy was i glad i didn't!
The tension and drama builds and builds that i found it impossible to put down.

I found this book to be quite slow going initially but that soon changed and I found myself drawn into the novel. After the unit let few chapters it progressed at pace and had some great twists and turns. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

I want to thank #NetGalley and #Bookouture for allowing me to read and review #TheMarriageBreakUp by #MatthewFarrell. This was my first book by Matthew Farrell and let’s just say I was blown away. This book was absolutely amazing and I am going to try another of his books. The suspense and drama kept me on my seat and the ending was “mind-blown”.

This book was soooo good!
I was initially unsure and then suddenly I was completely drawn into the plot.
The twists just kept coming and I raced through it.
The writing is immense. A perfect domestic noir and one that I’d strongly recommend.

This...... this is what every domestic thriller aspires to be! I do read of a lot of domestic noir and thrillers so it's not often I come across an author I've never read before who has a book of this level! It's just flawless in every way and I absolutely loved every second of reading it.

It's well written, the characters are so amazingly real! You get such clear insight into them and they're so rational and realistic that you feel like you're watching a series on netflix eith actual people

The twists, omg! Those twists! You never see them coming. And the ending....WHAT?! This isn't a book, it's a journey and some masterful storytelling

Oh. My. God. You will never see those twists coming! I finished the book and sat there with my mouth open. Stunning ending. This was such a great book and the pace got faster and faster as you got towards the end. For me, the only thing stopping this from being 5 stars was that it started very slow. I was probably at 25-30% before it really picked up speed. I've read everything by this author and he never disappoints. I don't know where he gets these ideas, but man, keep them coming please! If you haven't read his previous books, do yourself a favor and start now.

I really enjoyed this thriller. The storyline and characters where individually interesting. Throughout the book I was starting to build an idea of who done it and everytime I got close another plot twist would throw me off the path.

We follow multiple povs each chapter leading us through the story. I really enjoyed learning about each character, their backgrounds and how each scenario was playing out. The main protagonist Tracy left me feeling all kinds of emotions from what happened, no run to omg.

The best part about this book for me was after reading it and knowing the ending, I would happily pick it back up and read again. I would love to see this turnt into a mini tv series or even a movie.

Twist after twist! Wow! I was shocked several times by surprising and story changing revelations. Just when I thought I knew what would happen--BOOM! A pretty good thriller with great suspense and mystery.

One day, Tracy tells her husband she is leaving him. Malcolm is taken aback but is worried about losing custody of his son. However, things become worse when Tracy disappears and Malcolm is arrested. Things are more complicated than they seem though as detectives investigate the dead body of a young woman.

A thriller with lots of twists!

I've read everything by this author (who is totally underrated, by the way) and this latest book is my favorite! Malcolm is worried about his missing wife, Tracy. Not only because she is missing, but because on the very day she vanished, she happened to ask him for a divorce. Quite a coincidence, don't you think? Well, he sure does because he knows he's going to be the number one suspect, even though he continually protests his innocence. Even Tracy's sister, who at first suspects Malcolm, eventually believes him and stays at his and Tracy's house. She offers her help for their young son, Finn, now dealing with his mother going missing and his father under suspicion.

The reader sees from Tracy's perspective, as well, so we know some of the circumstances regarding how she went missing and where she is now. But is the person responsible for her disappearance really who we think it is? And how does this connect to another woman who was murdered the same day Tracy vanished? Are the two different police forces going to uncover these connections, or solve either case? You think you know where the story is headed, but you don't! I loved the very end of the story, but I really wish it had been expanded. Those last few paragraphs could lead to a story of their own, with so much meaning packed into so few words. It was an awesome way to finish this book and highlights why this author is so good. I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next!

Tracy finds out that her husband, Malcolm is having an affair. She makes arrangements with her sister, Missy, to look after her son, and tells Malcolm that she wants a divorce.
That same day, she visits her therapist, and after her appointment, is followed on her way home, and disappears.
Of course the husband is always the suspect.
Malcolm's lover is found dead, and has been dead since before Tracy went missing.
It is not till later that the police realise that the cases are linked.


I was transfixed by this book actually. It was full of twists and turns, and Tracy's blindness after she was kidnapped was brilliant. No, not the blindness, the way she went blind!! I would never have figured it out.
I do recommend this book, but want to point out that 46% of the way through, there is a character mixup. The detective, Kelly, is mixed up with Tracy...... I hope that is corrected before the book goes out to print.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

The Marriage Break-Up is my fourth Matthew Farrell book and it doesn’t disappoint! Tracy walks into the kitchen one morning, announces to her husband Malcolm she wants a divorce and leaves the house. In a phone call later that day, Tracy agrees to explain when she gets home. However, she disappears. The book raises many questions and mysteries. Would she really leave her young son behind? Is she the victim of foul play? Is the murder of a young woman in a separate jurisdiction connected? Malcolm is brought in by the police. Is he involved in her disappearance? Present and past secrets abound, and the many characters’ lives are entangled. Matthew Farrell leads the reader along with twists and turns and it is an exciting ride.

This book engaged me from the beginning and without providing any spoilers I did not expect the ending to take that turn - even thought throughout the book I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen next (I really didn’t!).

One morning at the breakfast table Tracey announced she would like a divorced from her husband Malcom. But from this point onwards the story could not be in any way predictable.

I would definitely read another book this author and recommend this book to my friends.

Great story filled with twists, turns and thrills that simply do not stop.
Malcolm and Tracey Cowan are a well-to-do, happily married couple with a young son when she suddenly announces over breakfast one morning that she wants a divorce. Malcolm is completely blindsided and the plot just takes off from there.
The characters are superbly developed and the nuances between them are spot on.
Just when you thought you had it figured out....
Whoa.....
Hold On.
You probably did not.

Wow! This book has me on the edge of the seat. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, there was another plot twist, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of Matthew Darrell’s work.

Wow! Did not expect that ending!! What a great twist! Thus book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, some great police work and a few really crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle!
