Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC of The Sweetshop of Second Chances. Sorry it's late.
This is a good start to I'm assuming a series. A feel good easy read with a bit of a cliffhanger ending
This is a really sweet book and I don't mean just because it's about a sweet shop.
Holly worked at Just One More as a teenager and remained close with the owner after she left. After one of the women passed away that owned half of the shop the other owner informs Holly it was not her dream any longer to run the shop and she's selling up. After a breakup and needing a fresh start Holly has the brilliant idea to purchase the sweet shop and run it. Letting nostalgia guide her she wasn't aware of what goes on with the other side of business. It's so much more stressful being the owner than just the employee. With Easter candy, creams, twists, gummies and chocolates galore she's ready to run this business as has become her dream. When inspectors find some things not up to par, costly repairs needing done and customers giving her a hard time she frazzled. Add to this she works seven days a week and can't afford to hire any help yet. Will she even have time for a romance, or will these sweet treats be all she has the time for? When things seem to go from bad to worse will her dreams of living in this quaint little village with her charming shop end before all the bon bons are gone? Sweet, charming and humorous I was rooting for Holly the whole time.
I'm enjoying this series.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

Thank you to net galley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book was such a brilliant summer read! I could not stop thinking about it even once I'd finished it. the magic and charm of the cotswolds was felt throughout the entire book and I absolutely adored it!
Holly Berry had managed to get out of the small town she grew up in. She had a steady job and a boyfriend that she planned to spend the rest of her life with...until she caught him in bed with another woman. So she threw a few clothes in a suitcase and went home again. During a walk she saw one of the owners of the sweet shop that she'd worked at in her teenage years. The woman told her that she planned to sell the shop that had so many great memories for Holly to developers and move away. On an impulse, Holly offers to buy the shop. She soon finds out that the shop may have been more work than she planned on.
This is a lovely, heartwarming and, yes, sweet little tale. I love Holly, even if her name does make me chuckle! The sweetshop also brought back memories of my childhood, walking to the local shop with friends to buy a bag of treats.
A fun easy read with the tale of Holly who, after an unexpected turn in her relationship, moves back to the cotswolds without a plan.
Reliving her childhood dreams is a sweet (pun intended) tale which draws you in and makes you want to go there!
First in the series. I put off reading this for a while, but it’s an easy read with deeper context if you seek it out.
Thank you soooooo much netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advanced review copy if this book💗
"I voluntarily read and reviewed the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Amazing fun gorgeous
Holly finds herself back in the small village where she grew up having inherited a sweet shop she used to work in as a teenager. The shop desperately needs some tlc, as does Holly. Help seems to be at hand given by the rather scruffy looking bank manager and the suave local builder who seems to have money to burn. Help comes from the local female builder/general help and together they suss out who is trying to ensure Holly looses her buisness.....great fun especially if you have a sweet tooth and even better if you can recognize the village
This was such a lovely holiday read. The slow pace, beautiful setting and illustrating storytelling immediately sucked me into the story. Even though you can feel the plot twist coming, I kept wanting to read more to know how the story would eventually end. Very well done!
I read all the books quite close to each other and must admit that I liked the first book the best.
In the first installment, we are introduced to our lead protagonist, Holly Berry, who has just found out that her long-time boyfriend does not have the same plans for their future as a couple that she harbours. She decides to make a split-second decision to head home, a place she has studiously avoided for several years.
In this brief period, we get a complete picture of her childhood, the kind of person Holly is and how she finds herself in front of the sweet shop of her childhood.
Then, in a similar leap of faith, she decides to purchase the shop. What follows is her meeting with two men, reconnecting with old friends and her parents and also figuring out realistically slowly how to work at and own a sweet shop.
This was a very practical book with only hints of things to come in the future. Holly is naive at times but learns well when faced with a lesson. I appreciated the content. It was not a novella but just a part of Holly's whole journey. As a foundational step, it worked well.
This series is the kind that is a joy for people who enjoy books that continue a tale. No one book is enough to close the chapter of Holly's growth arc. There was something satisfying about seeing her tackle her life bit by bit. I may have liked some of the books more than others, but I highly recommend this series for people who like to follow a single lead protagonist with minimal distractions as she learns and changes.
The author's writing is simple, to the point and flows, making each book a quick and easy read, even with emotional ups and downs.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
A beautiful covers for a beautiful book. I adored this book it was fun and quirky in all the best ways will be reccoemmdjng

‘The Sweet Shop of Second Chances’ is light and airy and a nice and easy summer beach read.
3.5/5
I just couldn't get into this book or these characters as much... it was a nice little read, just didn't really draw me in that it took me a while to finish. Cute enough story, just too predictable for me.
I really wanted to love 'The Sweet Shop of Second Chances' but unfortunately, I couldn't get into it. I am not sure if it was the pacing or the main character of Holly. There was just something about the book that couldn't catch my attention. I ended up DNF'ing at 62%, I am hoping to revisit the book in hopes that with some time my perspective would change and I can enjoy the series.
Holly was busy saving for the next big life decision with her boyfriend, Dan. When she catches Dan in bed with another woman she runs to the only place where she was ever truly happy. To her home town, which is a small and picturesque village in the Cotswolds, and straight to the sweets shop she used to work at as a teenager.
When Holly learns that the owner, Maud, is keen to sell up Holly jumps at the chance to take over and try to buy the shop. However, not everyone wants Holly to succeed and when things start to go wrong, she is glad that she has new and old friends to turn to.
Will she make the money she needs to buy the shop? Where will she live? And who is at the bottom of all these things that keep going wrong?
I struggled to get into this book and it wasn't until about 60% of the way through I thought I could actually finish the book. I found the trials and tribulations of Holly a little boring. There was no spice to speak of. I think that could have added another dimension to a slightly flat book. If you like a rambling story of minor success, I think you will like this one! That said, I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Thanks to Boldwood Books, Hannah Lynn and Netgalley for this ARC.
This was my first time reading a book from the author but I am delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more books from the writer in the future!
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a light, fun, breezy summer book that I enjoyed a lot.
This book was the cutest little story. I will admit that at first I didn’t really know what direction it was going, but it truly is just a sweet little story about a girl buying a sweet shop. It reminded me of a hallmark series. Clean, adorable, with the main character prevailing in the end. I loved that there was a “villain” and a someone mystery to solve within the story: who was sabotaging Holly’s chances? Of course you could guess it within the first hundred pages, but how it was all revealed in the end was good writing.
I love this book and can’t wait to read the second. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, Hannah Lynn’s series is definitely for you! With characters you’ll love and friendships formed that you’ll just melt over, this was such a good story. Thank you to Net Galley and to Ms. Hannah Lynn for the advanced copy!
A lovely and charming story about the MC Holly who finds herself starting over in the Cotswolds, the setting, the characters, the story everything about this book is so endearing. I found this read a delight and I really related to the MC, not just as an independent business owner but her tenacity, her determination and her positive attitude – she literally takes on a multitude of challenges.
The theme of second chances and the nostalgia around sweet shop and small tourist town makes this book even more adorable. Hannah Lynn is a talented author her character development has you hooked. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood books for my ARC.
