I simply adore British romance books, I always have and I'm never going to stop. This book was the most perfect book I could have picked. I instantly fell for the characters and I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. And I was there living it with Holly. I loved this so much.

A sweet book about a sweet shop. Although predictable this was an easy relaxing read with no unexpected drama. A feel good summer read.

Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood for this ARC book

The Sweet Shop of Second Chances

4✯

In my opinion, Hannah Lynn did it again with another great read. The Sweet Shop of Second Chances by Hannah Lynn is a great read. It's a slow burner for sure, but it still kept me captivated as we follow Holly's adventures to back to her roots.

It's starts off with Holly coming home after a long day of work, to find her boyfriend in their bed with another woman. Not knowing where else to go, Holly finds herself back in her hometown, where she grew up. We follow Holly post-breakup, on her path of self discovery/worth and her going after what she wants in life. She buys the local candy shop where Holly faces major ups and major downs. She meets great friends and reunite with old friends along the journey, and then there are a couple of not so welcoming people she crosses paths with. .

I experienced all the emotions from the beginning (sadness, anger, happiness, excitement, laughter, etc...), and I must say I really appreciate the fact that Hannah Lynn can provoke those emotions when I read her works.

I don't have many complaints. I would say that it is written in third person, which isn't my preferred POV, but I can overlook that. If you can get over that fact, I believe you could enjoy this book. And secondly, make sure you have sweets handy. With Holly always surrounding herself in the sweets shop, you get descriptive details of the candies and sweets and makes your mouth water for some yourself. Due to that, I was eating a lot of sweets while reading this.

Hannah Lynn has become one of my favorite authors, with Athena's Child being my absolute favorite of her books and my number one book to recommend. I was ecstatic to learn that I was approved to be an ARC reader for the first book in her romance series.

Thank you NetGalley, Hannah Lynn and Boldwood Books for a free copy of The Sweet Shop of Second Chances for an honest review.

Oh, what a delight of a book! I adored following Holly's journey back to her hometown and the sweet shop she worked in as a teen. The gorgeous Cotswold setting and a cast of charming peripheral characters only added to Holly's story. I can't wait to read more about Just One More, the sweetest confectioners in town!

Roll on the next in the series.

In a first for Boldwood, they release books one and two of Hannah Lynn's brand new books about Holly Berry and her buying a sweet shop.

After finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman, she ends up in the town that she grew up where on a whim she buys a sweet shop based on nostalgia.

Sweet, cute book as she remakes friends with people from her childhood, whilst battling all the odds to make it a success.

Prefect, easy beach read for this summer.

A perfect read for springtime. This is another book that follows my favourite trope- life throwing you a curve ball and it gives an opportunity to change direction and start again. Holly is the one whose life falls apart when she discovers her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Returning to the Cotswolds she has the opportunity to take over the run down sweet shop from her childhood and with it a new future beckons.

Warning you will find yourself adding many sweets to your shopping basket whilst reading this book.

We follow Holly Berry as she escapes city life, and a cheating boyfriend, and moves back home to a small village in the Cotswolds. Everything seems to fall in to place for Holly as she agrees to buy the sweet shop she worked in growing up, but little does she know she’s just climbed on to a rollercoaster and is in for many ups and downs.

I really enjoyed this story, you can’t help but cheer for Holly and I found myself desperately turning pages hoping that all turned out well for her. Looking forward to the second book in the series.

What a joy it has been getting to know the amazing Holly Berry. Having her dreams shattered by cheating boyfriend,Dan, Holly returns to her childhood hometown clutching her shattered heart and the savings that were meant to buy her perfect home with Dan. Drawn back to the sweetshop where she spent her happiest times ,working as a teenager, she is overwhelmed with nostalgia and longing. Finding her old boss and friend is about to sell up to developers, following the death of her wife, Holly knows she can't let that happen and does ,possibly the first, impulsive thing in het life and agrees to buy the shop. Throwing caution to the wind, she gives up her secure job in London and throws herself into the mammoth task of securing a mortgage despite being sabotaged at every turn.
As delicious as the confectionary she sells, Holly Berry' s story is equally addictive and enjoyable. I can't wait for the next instalment ...especially the slow burning romance with her enigmatic and delightful neighbour Ben .

Holly wanted to escape London after a bad breakup with her boyfriend of 6 years. She was not ready to go to her parents so went to the town she grew up in and planned on staying there the night before facing her parents. While there she goes to look at the sweetshop the used to work at growing up and remembering that time fondly. As luck would have it she runs into her old boss and Holly's life is never the same again.
This was a book that I read in one sitting. It was easy to read and fun. Although there was a bit of predictability with the romance and the villain of the story it did not take away from the enjoyment of the book, well not for me anyway.
Holly and most of the side characters were relatable and were great enhancements to the storyline.
Cannot wait to read the net book in the series which will be very soon.

Such a cute story. After catching her boyfriend in bed with another woman, Holly Berry heads back to her hometown, where she impulsively buys the sweet shop she worked in as a Saturday helper.

I really enjoyed this lighthearted storyline with a mainly loveable cast of characters. It was great to reminisce about sweets from my childhood. It was the perfect escape, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series

In this book we meet Holly. Who has recently been stung by love. After finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. So Holly decides that she needs a fresh start and decides that she needs a fresh start and decides to pack up and move to the lovely little village of Burton-on-the-water. A place I physically love.

Going back to Burton-on-the-water brings back many memories as it is the place that she used to live and work. She finds the exact little cafe she used to work at called Just One More is struggling and looking for a buyer and so Holly decides to buy the place to keep it running.

Maud who is the currant owner of the sweetshop has just lost her partner Agnes and is glad when Holly decides to buy the cafe as it is one less thing that she has to worry and stress about. Maud decides that she wants to move to Scotland to be with Agnes's sister and so instead of putting the cottage on the market she offers it to Holly until she can find a buyer. Well we all know who the buyer will be don't we.

One day while in the shop some youths come in and try to knick two boxes of chocolates and so Holly makes off after them. Where she runs into the path of a cycleist. The cyclist isn't too happy and a lovely man calls Giles comes to the rescue to pacify the situation.

Holly and Giles obviously hit it off. But Holly isn't ready for a romantic partner yet. But we all know how that will end don't we.

Sadly the mortgage that Holly tries to get for the sweetshop falls through. But determined not to sell the place Holly and her assistant Drey have to come up with celevrr ideas to raise capital and not have to sell the shop.

The characters in this book are lovely and although the book is rather predictable it's still enjoyable.

After arriving home from work to find her boyfriend in their bed with another woman, Holly Berry packs her stuff and leaves London for Bourton-on-the-Water an idyllic village in Britain where she grew up.

Once there she finds herself at a cafe called Just One More where she worked as a teenager. The place is owned by two friends Maud and Agnes although since Agnes passed, Maud has been unable to the sweet shop by herself.

Eager to leave her life in London to start a new chapter, Holly offers to buy the sweet shop from Maud, with the money she saved up to pay for a house where she and her ex, Dan would live.

Maud had planned on moving to Scotland to stay with her late partner Agnes’s sister and put her cottage on the market. Fortunately, Maud offers Holly her cottage to stay at until Maud gets a buyer.

Soon after she opens her shop, Just One More, Holly finds herself chasing a bunch of school kids—who entered her shop and made away with two boxes of chocolates 🍫— and runs straight into the path of a bicycle.

While trying to pacify the irate cyclist who sustained some minor scratches himself, a young man Giles Caverty comes to Holly’s rescue. They soon become friends though Holly isn’t ready for a relationship.

When her request for a mortgage 💸 to pay for the shop falls through, Holly realizes she has to come up with another solution so that Maud does not sell the place to the developers as was her intention from the beginning

Of course, her assistant Drey is there to help out, —coming up with brilliant ideas 💡to draw in more customers—as well as friends from the village, Caroline and Jamie, and Ben. An interesting chick flick. Warm characters and stunning scenery.

Thank you to Hannah Lynn, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books for the arc of this book.
