I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This is a story about a yeti named Betty whose family moves into a new apartment in a building with humans. Betty really didn't want to move because she liked her home and everything was familiar and comfortable there. In the new building, some of the human neighbors come to visit and invite the yeti family to dinner where they're having spaghetti. But Betty has never had spaghetti before, and it's very different from what she usually eats and she just doesn't want to try it. But then she makes friends with the neighbor girl and realizes things in her new home might not be as bad as she feared.
The illustrations for this book were very colorful and fun. I wouldn't mind reading this book several times because I appreciate the message and it was just a cute little story. Overall I give it 4.738 out of 5 stars.
A cute picture book using Yetis and Spaghetti to help kids deal with change in a cute fun way. In way that kids would understand.
This was an adorable children's book. The book was funny and the graphics were cute as well. I read this book to my niece and she seemed to enjoy it a lot. Lots of laughs and smiles.
Such a cute story book about Betty the Yeti. We follow Betty though her move to a big city where she works through facing new experiences and challenges. Great book for kids!
This was a pretty fun book to read. Betty and her family move into their new apartment. Their neighbors decide to bring them dinner, and Betty doesn’t like it one bit. Betty fears she made a bad impression, but this ends up not being the case. Once she explains to a new friend why she didn’t like it, they both end up learning a good lesson. Most kids will have a lot of fun reading this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and its author for providing me with an advanced copy of this book and its author.

A Yeti who went to the big city after living in a small place in the antarctic. She was so disgusting on how she is trying to get effort in the city there. On the other hand, she has to hang on her new lifestyle.
Really got fun, plus, in fact, i used to be in that situation not in a long moon, i mean it was in 2019 when i did not want to be in this city, nor in these times, but anyways.
4.5
Betty is a Yeti; she is moving with her family to a new neighborhood full of, gasp, humans. The illustrations are so cute and this is a sweet story about new experiences.
My granddaughter picked this book for us to read together and it was a fun one. We didn't realize that there are several Betty the Yeti books, so I will be getting her some for Christmas. Although the title implies this book is about Betty and a new food, it is really about changes and new things in general. Betty's family has moved into an apartment and everything is different. They have never lived around people before. The neighbours welcome them with food and Betty eats spaghetti for the first time. It was not what she was expecting. Betty didn’t like new things, didn’t want to experience or learn new things but she does and she struggles. Her mother is kind and encouraging. Once Betty meets Cecelia, she has a new friend and is happy to try new things with her. I have to say that the illustrations were adorable. I think that was what my granddaughter liked the best. She was also able to read much of this book with minimal assistance which also made it a winner for her. I liked that this book talked about change and how it can be scary, but with support from family and friends you can do it. This is especially difficult for my grandson who is on the autism spectrum and has a lot of anxiety, so we talked about it even after the story was finished. Another winner for our little family.
I honestly couldn't find much-related material in this book because I don't have picky eaters at home (because we have rules and not a restaurant) so it was hard to understand this. I get there were some reactions to moving to a new place and making new friends is stressful, but it was cute to see a Yeti make friends with a human. This book made me think of The Magic Lunch Box when it comes to cultural differences, etc - we just have a species difference here.
I absolutely loved this book and the art is so freaking cute. I know all the little ones in my family would really enjoy this, especially the ones obsessed with yetis or bigfoots like I am.
This was such a cute book! My son loves yetis, so we had fun reading this book chapter by chapter. I received this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Part of a small but growing series of early readers concerning Betty the Yeti, this shows the whole Yeti family moving in to a new home, and being welcomed in that stereotypical way by a neighbour bringing over some food. But Betty takes a great dislike to some sloppy pasta when it spoils her wonderful fur – or is it just the whole novelty of the move that upsets her so?
Discuss, and enjoy – for this wonderfully designed little book has its lesson about how new friends can beat the angst of the new home, as well as a suitable amount of entertainment. I can't say anything about the other books – that don't get the triple rhyme in the title, either – but on this evidence they're strong and really quite joyous, in a brief little way. A strong four stars.
Betty the Yeti is an adorable book about a young yeti girl who moves from the isolate mountains to a city, where everything is different and scary. When Betty moves in to her her apartment, a neighbor brings spaghetti. It's different from anything she's ever had before! Thankfully, her neighbor Cecilia understands and they become friends, so the move is a little easier for Betty.
I love the illustrations in this book. They're so adorable! This is a great book for kids. We all go through new experiences and they're often scary. It's important for kids to realize they are not alone and they don't need to be scared!
Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!
Betty the Yeti and her family have just moved from the mountains to a human neighborhood and are adjusting to their new life. A neighbor brings over spaghetti, and Betty quickly decides that she hates it! She does like the neighbor girl though, and makes her first human friend in this early chapter book.
The book consists of several short chapters with easy to read sentences and vibrant pictures on the pages. The story concept is simple yet sweet- moving somewhere new, feeling different, wanting friends. These are all topics kids can identify with.
The story felt a bit young for my 8 year old, so I would recommend it for kids maybe 4-6 years old. My kids did enjoy seeing the funny pictures and commenting about the events of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Capstone for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Adjustments need to be made for all walks of life, including Yetis. My 5 year old son and I read this adorable book. He loved the illustrations and was excited because his favorite pasta is spaghetti. At first he didn't understand why Betty wouldn't love spaghetti like he does. We had a quick discussion about different things he likes vs what his siblings like and then he was on board. We will recommend this book to his friends.
Thank you for a copy of this book. This review is my family's honest perspective of the book.
This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters and feel theirs struggles.
I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was.
I will definitely recommend!
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
I read this book with my 9 year old and 5 year old. We all really enjoyed it. The graphics were beautiful! Betty covered in the spaghetti was our favorite. My 9 year old read the book a second time out loud to the family and really enjoyed that as well.
The only thing is we do wish it was a little bit longer but I guess we'll just have to get more Betty the yeti books to hear more.
Thank you for this arc!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was downright adorable. The graphics were so cute and the story was fun. My daughter really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more.
Betty the Yeti Hates Spaghetti is an adorable book that teaches the importance of trying something new. It certainly resonated with my children (who are picky eaters as well!).
I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
the story follows Betty as she tries to adjust to a new apartment. Because of how short the story was, it felt like a lot of important developmental moments were left out. I think it would be better as a slightly longer work.
