Thank you for providing me the opportunity to review "Betty the Yeti Hates Spaghetti”. I am appreciative and leave my sincerity review voluntarily.
This is a cute sweet story. It’s a great first chapter book and has a good glossary with pronunciation and reading comprehension questions in the back. This book would be great for the classroom, I’m planning to purchase it for my ESL classes.
Great book for kids learning how to read. It's all about trying something new - it's okay if you like it and it's okay if you don't. The important thing is that you tried. The glossary at the back is also a good addition for new readers on understanding some bigger words
Thank you Mandy R. Marx, Capstone, and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review!
My five year old daughter really enjoyed this book. I loved that there were discussion questions at the end. We recently when through our own move to a different state and I wish we would've read this book sooner. My daughter was able to relate to Betty the Yeti over both her and Betty's nervousness about moving, These discussion questions not only helped with seeing what she learned about the book, but discussing our move in general with her and how she feels now. The illustrations were adorable and my daughter loved Betty. We can't wait to read more Betty the Yeti books and definitely recommend this one!
This book was adorable! It appears it will be released as a series of 4 books, with the other 3 titles:
- Betty the Yeti and Her Dancing Feet
- Betty the Yeti and the First Day of School
- Betty the Yeti Plays Hide-and-Seek
There is no indication of a preferred read order (which, as an organized human irks me a little since I didn't have access to the other 3 to judge where to start), though this book felt like it covered all the ground it needed to for a complete story.
The illustrations were very well done, and the progression of the story was enough to keep even the shortest attention span following along. I liked that the lesson of the story was clear and easy to understand, and that it was a pretty low stress read if you have an anxious little. I look forward to seeing what the other 3 books in the series have to offer.
Additionally, there is an index at the back as well as some talking/writing prompts, which I always love in a children's book.
Thank you NetGalley and Capstone for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
This is a cute easy reader story that I read so I could recommend it to my nieces and nephews. It is a great story about a family moving to a new place and they are having to try new things. I would recommend this book to kids that fit the age range and reading level.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC! Betty the Yeti is so cute! A great beginning chapter book for young readers. Overall, this story is about overcoming new challenges as Betty and her family have moved, and her new human neighbors give them spaghetti to eat. The pictures are colorful and inviting throughout the book. This is a great starter book for children who are becoming ready to explore chapter books. There are still a lot of pictures throughout the book which I liked as well.

Thank you Netgalley, Capstone publishing, and Mandy R. Marx for a copy of this book. Sloan and I loved reading this book about Betty and her yeti family moving to the city! I think this could easily be a cute series for kids! We’ll check it out a physical copy for our collection when it comes out in August!
Betty The Yeti Hates Spaghetti is a great young reader book about learning to accept our differences and trying new things even when it's scary. A strong message with fun and vibrant illustrations. I look forward to reading more in the series.
Betty the Yeti is adorable. We all know how picky children can be about new foods and this was a perfect depiction of how some children react to new foods. Also, was a good depiction of how some children act when they first move to a new place. This book shows a new friendship being formed between a human and yeti, I would love to see their friendship bloom in more books.
As a K-5 librarian, I think the sweet spot for this story is 2nd grade. Early chapter books like these make them feel so accomplished. And they will absolutely relate to moving a d finding themselves in a different neighborhood with new friends waiting to meet them. I love the idea that he plot circled around to the new foods (and smells/tastes) of a new neighborhood!
Dani’s Review (age 8) I liked that Betty the Yeti’s family looks exactly like ours. (Mom, 2 brothers and me). I didn’t like that she didn’t like spaghetti though! Rating: 👍🏻
Mom’s Review: My daughter and I read this together. She was very excited that the Yeti family was a great representation of a single mom and kid family. I love that Betty’s mom reminded her that, “creatures come in all shapes and sizes” which is a great message for little kids. I look forward to checking out other books in this series.
This is the beginning of a really cute series of beginning readers! I love the idea of a Yeti family moving to a city and trying to fit in. And it's great for SEL! I can't wait to read more!
Thank you so much to Capstone/ Picture Window Books and NetGalley for the ebook to read and review.
This cute book is great for children who struggle with new adventures - moving, trying new things or making friends. Betty moves to a new home and finds out that things are a bit different and a little scary- even the foods they eat. But her new neighbor helps her to realize that facing new things is easier if you have a friend to help you along the way.
The story was short and sweet to hold the attention of beginning readers. The illustrations are so vibrant and fun. This is a great book to share with little readers.

Betty the Yeti Hates Spaghetti is a fantastic book for littles who might be nervous to try something new.
Betty and her family move to a new home among people she isn't familiar with and understandably enough she is a little nervous about meeting them.
The illilustations are vibrant and bright which really captures the attention of my littles. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this ARC with my kids.
*I receive an Arc copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
I read this children's book to my 4 year old daughter, and she loved the artwork, the rhymes/names, and the storyline. She was laughing with each page, and wanted to read it again. I would definitely purchase this for her. Great book about wanting to belong despite looking different. I would recommend it for a 3-5 year old.

Our thoughts ~ super cute story about trying new things(foods mainly) moving to new places, meeting new people and making friends. Teaching kiddos it's okay to be nervous or scared and that emotions are a normal thing to work through. Overall we loved the story and the illustrations were lovely. My daughter really enjoyed the book and we read it a couple times together. It's a nice first readers type of chapter book too I thought that was cool.
My daughter loved this book! As a military kid she moves around a lot and she really was able to relate.
