The One Who Fell is the first book of the Whitecliff Bay Mystery series. I enjoyed meeting Millie, the main character, and all the other supporting characters. The plot begins with several unanswered questions. Is Millie a murderer of her parents? Did Ingrid, a resident of the nursing home where Millie volunteers, actually see a girl pushed from a roof or is she confused? What secret is Millie keeping about her broken marriage? Is Millie being watched by a stranger in the shadows or is the danger closer than she realizes? The array of questions is gradually answered as secrets are revealed and tragedies are exposed. Helen Keeley expertly brought the story to life, adding a layer of intrigue with her narration. I look forward to discovering more mysteries from the Whitecliff Bay series. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

I listened to the ALC of this book in May and I have to admit that some of the details are now hazy but I did overall enjoy the book and the twist at the end was unexpected. Helen Keeley did a good job with the narration and I had no issues with following the story while listening to the audiobook. Since I am always on a look out for new mystery/police procedural series, I think I will reread this one again before continuing with the other books in the series.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture Audio and the author Kerry Wilkinson for the ALC.

Good plot with very likeable characters set in Whitecliff, an English seaside town. Millie, who many in town believe killed her parents despite not being a suspect, spends her days grooming dogs and volunteering at the local nursery home. When one (then two) of the elderly patients claim that they saw someone jump/being pushed off a nearby roof, Millie decides to investigate together with a retired local journalist. This eventually leads to a very surprising discovery. Very well narrated and very enjoyable to listen to.

I finished reading The One Who Fell by Kerry Wilkinson, the first novel in the Whitecliff Bay Mystery series. It was a great read - It took some time before I was invested in the story. The main character is Millie, a woman with a mysterious past that includes people thinking she killed her parents. Millie is a dog groomer and volunteers at the local nursing home. After one of the residents claims to have witnessed a girl being pushed off the roof of a nearby house, Millie sets off to uncover the truth – with help from an old friend of her father’s, who happens to be a retired reporter. The pace and story kept me hooked after 50% of listening to the audiobook – I wanted to know if there had been an accident or something more sinister; if Millie had murdered her parents; and what secrets she was hiding. Ultimately, I'd rate it 3.5 stars out of 5 and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author! Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing me with an advanced copy of this book!

Thanks Netgalley & bookouture for this audiobook.
This book didn’t really wow me, but it was ok enough to keep me going.
It was a quick and easy cozy mystery.
The story follows Millie as she investigates Ingrid's claim that she saw a girl being pushed off a roof,
##Have Ingrid and Millie stumbled across something terribly dangerous? And with the town against her, will Millie have to face up to her own secrets to solve the mystery before it becomes deadly?

Another winner from Kerry Wilkinson, thriller, mystery and suspense all rolled into one. I loved the characters, the story and the expectations throughout. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

I enjoyed prior Kerry Wilkinson's books and I was excited to start a new series by this author.

Millie Westlake volunteers at the nursing home where her friend Jack works. Millie lives in Whitecliff where everyone knows each other and gossip spreads faster than you can say hi. Millie is well known but not with affection but with recrimination. She has committed two crimes in the minds of the inhabitants. First, she cheated with a politician, broke her marriage, and lost the custody of her son when the affair was found out, The second crime is that they believed she killed her parents and she got away with it plus inherited their home after they passed. The only job Millie can have is being a dog groomer although the reviews left on the net are not as nice as she would like.

One day, after spending time with Ingrid, a nursing home patient, she is told by Ingrid that the night before she saw a woman being pushed off the roof of a home close by through her window. Millie can't let it go and decides to investigate. This decision will put a target on her back but she can't stop digging with the help of Guy, an ex-reporter now blogger.

I liked Millie, her story was intriguing and I wanted to know more about her affair, her parent's death, and of course, if a woman was truly pushed and why. The story grabbed me from the very beginning and I was happy with the way the novel unfolded. The narrator Helen Keeley did a great job of bringing the character to life.

I will read the next one in the series and hope to see more of the characters. Hopefully, she can get her son back.

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

Kerry had an enjoyable chat at the end of the audio which I thoroughly enjoyed, especially about the bear! This defiantly added to the character of the book and had me looking for the next. The One Who Fell was interesting but had me fumbling through to start. But, after the 10% I found myself looking for more. There was plenty of parts to follow but they did come together for me except I was looking for the ex's story. The Narrator was Fab and was a great choice for this read. Thanks NetGalley for allowing me the pleasure!

The one who fell is the first novel in a series of psychological thrillers set in Whitecliff Bay. Several characters are introduced in this book who I imagine will feature in subsequent ones. Millie volunteers at a local care home where her best friend Jack works. When a resident claims to have seen a woman fall off a neighbouring roof, Millie tries to put her mind at ease but inadvertently discovers a mystery to be solved. Alongside the main narrative, we learn that Millie is divorced with a 7 year old son and is suspected of killing her own parents.
I found this book incredibly entertaining and look forward to reading or listening to the rest of the series. Helen Keeley is a fantastic narrator and brought real warmth and humour to the book.

Good mystery with some interesting twists. Pacing was well done and I enjoyed the characters, as well as the narrator.

This was a decent easy read. Ingrid a resident at a Whitecliff care home, tells Millie that she saw a young woman jump off a roof of a house opposite her window the night before. Is Ingrid a reliable witness, Millie is unsure, but decides she will look into it.

Millie’s life has been turned upside down in recent times, her parents being killed in a house fire, her marriage breaking down after she is exposed of having an affair with the local MP, her son lives with his Dad and to top it all, people think she caused the fire that killed her parents.

Millie stumbles across possible pieces of evidence that maybe Ingrid wasn’t seeing things after all. But is someone trying to hinder her investigation? She forms an unlikely friendship with an elderly journalist, Guy, who she had originally blamed for making everyone think that she had killed her parents.

A good mystery with a few twists thrown in for good measure. I quite liked Millie, although she maybe a tad naive. This is the first of a series, would I read the next one after reading this? yes, I certainly feel I could see this developing further. I give this 4/5.

I dearly enjoyed reading this mystery novel on a small town and mysterious miracles happening in families. I loved reading it from Millie’s perspective too, since I noticed this story could’ve had many tellers.

Definitely recommending it to everyone who wants to embark on a journey of family secrets, small town happenings & forgiveness and friendships :)

I can't say the book excited me, but it was a quick and easy cozy mystery that follows Millie as she investigates Ingrid's claim that she saw a girl being pushed off a roof. There's also the fact that there's a rumor floating around still a year later that Millie killed her own parents. Let's not leave out that there's been some black panther sightings to keep the book moving along. Although it was quick in time, it was quite slow in parts.

Overall, fine, but I'm not super big on cozy mysteries, so it's tbd if I'll continue on with the series.

Thank you to net galley, the publishing house, the narrator and the author for the opportunity to listen to a complimentary copy of this audiobook in return for review, based upon my honest opinion.

I have read quite a few books by this author, and have usually enjoyed them quite a bit. Maybe the difference is that I listened to this book as opposed to reading it; I’m not sure, but I can say this wasn’t my favourite book by this author. It wasn’t the narrator, as I found I really enjoyed the narrator’s voice, her tone was good, her cadence was good, and overall she was very enjoyable to listen to. This authors books usually have more intrigue and mystery involved in them. This is where I felt that this book fell short. I just didn’t find the characters all that interesting. I would definitely enjoy more books by this author, but I would most likely read them as opposed to listening to them.

OK listen with a good twist at the end but not gripping just an average mystery book
I also found myself easily detracted so had to keep going back and re listening to chapters as I had missed something but that could be me as I am more of a psychological thriller fan than a mystery
