I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This is a story about Pitter Patty, a raincloud. She spends her days hearing children and adults alike wishing she'd go away and come again another day. I know I used to sing that nursery rhyme sometimes even when it wasn't raining myself. This makes her very sad, because she really just wants people to like her, but when you live somewhere that gets rain regularly, and it interrupts your plans, you just wish it would stop sometimes. So Patty travels until she finds a place where the people don't ask her to go away, but instead come out to play in her rain.
This story honestly made me feel a bit sad while I was reading it, so it would be great to read with kids to teach them some empathy if nothing else. The book makes it really easy to put yourself into Pitter Patty's figurative shoes and see how it would feel if everyone always wanted you to go away. I felt like the story would also be good for teaching children to worry more about going where they're wanted, because that feels so much better than being somewhere they're not really wanted.
The illustrations were both colorful and gray...as a rainy day. Overall I give Pitter Patty Finds Another Day 3.976 out of 5 stars.
Lovely kids book!
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my review.
Slightly unusual and unexpected narrative, of the very cloud we always seem to chant "rain, rain, go away – come again another day!" to. Pitter Patty, the nicely-drawn personification of the cloud, just cannot get to find an appreciative audience, and when she stays as a breathlessly blue and sunny sky for too long – well, she ends up in a thunderstorm, which is even worse.
I guess this can be used to talk about the water cycle, the weather systems, and if you must how we can all find our own space. For I didn't really get much love for Pitter, and I don't know how much sympathy we'll have for her, however much she has a human face. I also really didn't like the way half the narrative was in rhyme and the rest didn't try. So I'm left with a kind of damp, drizzly reaction, no more nor less.
What a lovely readmn for younger children. This is definitely one I will be sharing with my students!
Pitter Patty wants acceptance, just like everyone else—but she's a cloud, and when her raindrops start to fall, the people down below start to sing: Rain, rain, go away...
This makes for a fun, playful look at clouds and weather. I read this in June, when my area is expecting the driest summer on record, and I'd welcome Pitter Patty in the skies any day. The illustrations are simple but richly colored, and children will enjoy the occasional rhymes (and of course the 'Rain, rain, go away' song!). If there's a follow-up, I'd like to see Pitter Patty make a friend or two, and maybe some child-friendly explanations of how clouds come to be, since Pitter Patty's rain doesn't come from nowhere!
Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the eARC! Pitter Patty Finds Another Day is a great read for any young reader who is interesting / or is learning about weather. This is about a raincloud who doesn't feel wanted because rain usually ruins peoples plans. Throughout the book we see the positive effects rain can have for us.
Pitter Patty Finds Another Day is a cute picture book about a rain cloud, Pitter Patty, who feels sad and unappreciated everywhere she goes- until she finally finds where she is wanted. Cute story with fun, rhyming language a child can have fun saying.
*note: on page 39, it says “drive riverbed” when it should read “dry riverbed.”
Great story, perfect for weather/water topic. Children will love to join in with the song “rain, rain go away” when it appears in the story.
This is an adorable book about water and rain and how the clouds feel like we don't like them when it rains.
We really enjoyed this picture book! Really well written. Fun rhymes. Lots of brightly colored pictures, well illustrated.
The book makes you empathize with the rain cloud, who is trying so hard to make friends & make people happy and can't understand why no one is happy when it rains!
She finally finds a place where everyone is happy with her rain, including her.
The font was purposefully chosen to make it easy to read.
A fun picture book, geared towards 3-6 year Olds.

A wonderful book from the view of a rain cloud. This book is very fun and has an easy to follow storyline that would be wonderful for any younger elementary class studying weather or having a rainy day.
This imaginative children's story is about the life and emotions of a young raincloud. It's a story that covers a range of emotions, from sadness and hurt, to love and acceptance.
I found this story to be so unique, and the illustrations beautiful. The message that I took from this book was finding your place in the world, where you can be yourself and be accepted for who you are.
I read this book to my 4-year-old, who enjoyed it as well. She loved the colorful illustrations, and delighted in the joy of the young raincloud at the end of the book.

What a beautiful picture book for younger children to be read out loud together, all while enjoying the bold, colorful illustrations! The story is a beautiful one also, with a strong message.
Pitter Patty Finds Another Day is intended for children ages 3-6. This is a wonderful story of inclusion, acceptance, and kindness. It would be a wonderful addition to any children's library.

Pitter Patty is a little rain cloud, who is looking for friends. Unfortunately everywhere she goes, she is greeted with the cry of 'Rain, rain, go away, Come again some other day'.
Upset by this, Pitter Patty tries everything she can think of to make people happy to see her. She even holds the rain locked up within herself, though it gives her a terrible stomach ache!
Her other strategies don't work either. For instance, observing that children often like to daydream about images in the clouds, she decides to twist herself into all kinds of interesting shapes. But as soon as the rain starts, Pitter Patty is once again deemed unwelcome!
It is only after she travels far and wide that she finally finds the place where people yearning for some rain. And finally - at last! - Pitter Patty finds the home, happiness and friends that she is looking for.
This is a wonderful children's story about inclusion and kindness. The character of the little rain cloud is vividly brought to life, and the illustrations are quite delightful. This is likely to be a huge hit with children in the 3 to 6 year age group!
How cute!! I loved this story and it's message. The themes of inclusion and acceptance are so important these days, especially for young minds. I highly recommend this book.

Overall the story took us through the plight of the rain-cloud-girl who is constantly being chased away by children & adults. She tries to be like other clouds, tries to hold back her true self but it doesn’t work. Once again she thunders, rains & makes people miserable, so they chase her away, again & again. Eventually, after much searching, she finds a place where she is desperately wanted, accepted & appreciated.

The rhymes are a little off & the deserts being flooded so quickly brings me concerns for dessert dwellers, BUT… ekk, finding a place to belong, where people appreciate & care about you is very important.

I am a Pre-K teacher and I found all kinds of different lessons that I could teach with this book. There was a lot of rhyming which is important for phonological awareness. The illustrations were pretty, and I thought it would make a good art craft with making clouds. And the book had different areas of the world, so we could talk about why it was better for her to be in the desert.
The illustrations are adorable, and the story is simple but meaningful; even though I felt sorry for Pitter Patty, I enjoyed it.
A delightful book by a talented author. I loved the simple message in the story and cute illustrations in the book. It made my kids smile.
