Wonderful Christmas collection from four of my favorite authors! It was like 'a warm blanket with a warm cup of coffee on a winter day' cozy greatness,
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
Christmas Forevermore contains 4 sweet stories, all by different authors. It's always so hard to review collections, so here is a short review of each of the 4 stories in this collection of historical Christmas romances!
A Family Christmas by Sally Britton
The thing I loved most about this story was the family traditions around Christmastime. Jane and Cyril have a wonderful grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and I just loved the emphasis on family, whether it's blood relations or found family.
Christmas Forevermore by Sarah M. Eden
My favorite part of this story was the nod to A Christmas Carol, with great insights on the past, present, and future. It was so clever! Minna and Rupert have such a lovely friendship, and it was so fun to see them interact.
Christmas at Cranfield by Ashtyn Newbold
The thing I loved most about this one is that the main characters had to really learn to follow their hearts and make the choices that were best for them. Samuel and Hannah have some miscommunications and missed chances, but it was so fun to follow their story.
A Thrill of Hope by Karen Thornell
I think this one was my favorite! Isabel and Robert are forced together by a bad winter storm. Throw in a meddlesome aunt (I sure do love those matchmaking older women!), some witty banter, and the magic of Christmas and it's a recipe for romance! I loved that this story had some depth to it - facing grief during the holidays is something we all can relate to.
All four of these stories are wonderful reads, and the perfect way to add to the Christmas season! It sure had me wishing for December to get here quickly.
Thank you to NetGalley, Covenant Communications, and all four authors for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback and opinions.
I really enjoyed this Christmas anthology. I have read almost all of the regency anthologies available on the market and this one is by far my favorite. Each story was very enjoyable. I loved them all. I could reread this every Christmas. I also got some idea of how to celebrate Christmas at my house that would be fun new ideas.
"Christmas Forevermore" is a lovely anthology of holiday novellas penned by four talented authors, whose works I frequently read.
Sally Britton's contribution "A Family Christmas" is a heartwarming tale about the importance of family and finding your place. Playful, magical and at times poignant, this is a sweet story. Jane Allen and a long-absent cousin find family and belonging together. However, one must suspend belief on one point: while a wealthy family might own ONE sleigh, it certainly wouldn't own three.
The supremely talented Sarah M. Eden delights readers with "Christmas Forevermore". A devoted quartet of friends discover their ideal matches. Secondary characters are likewise interesting, from the unwanted matchmaker concerned solely with herself, to her unsuitable candidates. The hypocrisy of the ton is on full display. Eden's prose is beautiful, and this story packs a powerful emotional punch.
Ashtyn Newbold delivers a more lighthearted tale. "Christmas at Cranfield" features heroine Hannah Somerton, a naive young woman who in four years has not seen the young man she wants to marry. She decided her course when she was fourteen, so what could possibly go wrong? This is a charming novella that takes place over a few years while Hannah and worthy hero Samuel Merchant get their act together. Ah, the path to true love never runs smooth.
"A Thrill of Hope" by Karen Thornell is a wonderful read. Feeling bereft over the holidays, lovely Isabel Reid is escorted to her aunt's by the taciturn Robert Collingham. Forced into close proximity due to the weather, these childhood friends put aside their mutual animosity. There's also a curious player behind the scenes. While I've read most of the other authors' works, Thornell has only three other Regency novels, and I've read two. I will definitely read the third, and I hope she pens more Regency tales.
I very much enjoyed this collection. They are all well-written and clean. There are only two noticeable grammatical errors: "aversion" should be "allergy" and "contended" should be "contented".
Thanks to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an ARC of this engaging anthology.
This was such a fun collection of novellas! A delightful mix of stories that will have you turning the page to find out what happens next!
I received an ARC through Netgalley and all opinions are my own.
Four new stories from favorite authors, Sarah M. Eden, Sally Britton, Ashtyn Newbold and Karen Thornell.
Hint, think Christmas Carol, when reading Sarah's story.
I loved this Christmas compilation. It is the perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit, Each story is full of romance, Christmas/winter fun and great characters. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
“A Family Christmas”
Sally Britton is one of my auto-authors! I am always excited to read her stories and this one was so sweet! Cyril was such a sweetheart, even though he had some grumpiness hiding his worries. I loved his care for his sister. Jane was such a ray of sunshine! I loved her spirit and her willingness to love the family that did so much for her. They were adorable together and the family was so fun. I love sweet family interactions and this was a lovely family!
“Christmas Forevermore”
What a cute story! I loved the friendships in this! The little quartet was so endearing and I loved how they looked out for one another. Minna was sweet, even if she did have some soul-searching to do. As always Ms. Eden, creates engaging characters and an enveloping story. I really felt for Minna and was excited to see her grow! The side characters were also a lot of fun. It is always cool to be pulled into the world of the London ballrooms!
“Christmas at Cranfield”
Another sweet Christmas story! Hannah felt very real to me. I admired her dedication to her family and understanding of how they supported her. She was honorable, even though she felt drawn to Samuel, she respected where they were both at. I really could understand her. Samuel was a sweetheart and I also appreciated his honor. They were both so caring. I really empathized with them. The Christmas aspect was also really fun in this one!
“A Thrill of Hope”
Oh, what a fun story! I felt so much for Isabel. She was definitely a bit lost and it was so sweet to see her warm up in the story! And Robert! Oh, I loved the way he softened up throughout the story. They really helped each other grow, which is adorable and one of my favorite things in the story! The aunt was also so sweet and I love her little playfulness!
Overall, I found this collection delightful! All of the stories are full of Christmas joy and sweet romance. I would definitely recommend this to those who like short and sweet historical romances! They are all novellas and have only kissing.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of Christmas stories. Perfect for filling your heart with the Christmas Spirit!!
A Family Christmas by Sally Britton
Such a heartwarming story of love and family. I found myself routing for Jane and Cyril right from their first introduction. The feeling of joy and family wrapped me with what felt like a warm blanket bringing me back to my childhood Christmases. I could also relate to Lady Mardale finding such joy in grandchildren and the holidays!
Christmas Forevermore by Sarah M. Eden
Loved this story of Minna, an independent woman whose father had left her enough money to live quite comfortably and is happy spending time with her cousin and dear friends. Minna is trying to recover from her grief of losing her family and Christmas is especially hard for her. Mrs. Jackman, a self-important busybody, tries to find a match for Minna, but can’t see the perfect match right under her nose. I enjoyed Sarah’s nod to Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and was delighted with how it all worked out for Minna and her cousin.
Christmas at Cranfield by Ashtyn Newbold
This one pulls at the heartstrings as Hannah and William, childhood friends, are both pushed into marriages with the wrong person for the wrong reasons. Happily, after too much time and false starts with great disappointments for both, they find their happily-ever-afters.
A Thrill of Hope by Karen Thornell
Another story of childhood friends meeting again after many years. At first, neither is very interested in renewing their acquaintance, but as a winter storm throws them together for longer than planned, they begin to enjoy each other’s company and love blossoms.
Thanks to Net Galley and Covenant Communication I received a free ARC copy. These thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christmas Forevermore is another fantastic collection of Christmas romances! The authors who wrote this collection are some of my favorites and I was not disappointed! I love regency romances and these four sweet romances take you on an sweet romantic journey through the holidays. While these are shorter books, they feel like full length novels! 5 stars for this collection!
I had no idea how much I needed this little collection of happiness. 😍😍😍 From the first novella, I was sold. This book was everything bright and happy!
Perfect for getting you in the Christmas mood! Now I’m craving white scenery, sleigh rides, and hide and seek.
So many great things to say but you might as well read it yourself! Great collection of authors and novellas!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Christmas Forevermore is an anthology of short stories set in the regency era at Christmas time! Sarah Eden is the only author I have read before and I was pleasantly surprised with the other authors: Sally Britton, Ashtyn Newbold, + Karen Thronell. I really enjoyed this one and it can help anyone get into the spirit of Christmas!
Four romantic novellas await you within the pages of 'Christmas Evermore'.
The first "A Family Christmas" follows ____ as she is helping her mistress with the annual family Christmas gathering a relative, Cyril, returns after a long absence from the family festivities. ---- works hard to help him feel welcome and part of the family she has grown to love. It is a beautiful story and great read.
The second titled after the collection, is a lose parody of "A Christmas Carol" with some delightful twists and fun word play from the original novel. Any fan of "A Christmas Carol" (one of my favorite stories) will get a chuckle out of following this adaption through Minna, the spinster who needs to be wed before Christmas!
The third story, "Christmas at Cranfield" follows Hannah and Samuel as they rekindle an old friendship but the twists of fate never seem to be in their favor. Will this star-crossed pair ever be together? This was a nice story that covers quite a few years and events that are really rushed over. While, a nice read, not one I will probably revist.
The last story "A Thrill of Hope" follows motherless, Isabel who is sent to spend Christmas with her aunt against her better judgement. She is snowed in with her 'unexpected' chaperone at her aunts home for the holidays and realizes that maybe she can let go of the past and finally look to her future. A story that takes the 'polite' out of society a bit over the top but it plays well in the end.
I really enjoyed being able to read these found novellas and they got me all excited about Christmas (although it is August) - send me some snow and hot chocolate!
Christmas Forevermore is a collection of four novellas, each approximately 100 pages in length. Each novella is written by a different author: Sarah M. Eden, Sally Britton, Ashtyn Newbold, and Karen Thornell. All the stories occur at Christmastime in England during the Regency period.
To be fair to each story and author, I have written mini-reviews of each novella below:
“A Family Christmas” by Sally Britton - 4 stars
A sweet story about a connection between a lady's companion and a gentleman. There were a few interesting scenes in the book, but it felt a little short (as novellas sometimes do) and bland. I didn't connect deeply with the characters, but the story was readable and enjoyable.
“Christmas Forevermore” by Sarah M. Eden - 2.5 stars
A matchmaker tries to set-up a spinster with different prospects, but the spinster finds love her own way. This story tried to use Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" as a model for the plot, but I didn't connect with the story or characters at all. The plot seemed like it was being forced into the "A Christmas Carol" storyline; it didn't feel natural or engaging. The characters were more like caricatures.
“Christmas at Cranfield” by Ashtyn Newbold - 5 stars
Two childhood friends start to fall in love, but through a series of events, have to wait until the right timing to be together. I love all of Ashtyn's books, and this novella does not disappoint! She does an excellent job of making a novella feel like a full book. The plot points and character development are right on point. I would read this story again.
“A Thrill of Hope” by Karen Thornell - 4.5 stars
A snow storm throws a lady and gentlemen together in a way that neither of them expect but it turns into more of a blessing than either expected. This was the first book I read by Karen Thornell, and I would like to read more of her work. This was a sweet novella, and I felt that I got a full story even though it was only about 100 pages. All the major plot points were included; it did not feel rushed. This story go me hooked right away.
Book Content: Clean, a few kisses, no sex or swear words, no violent scenes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for providing me with this complementary advanced copy for review. My review is honest and not influenced in any way by the publisher.
I received a free copy of, Christmas Forevermore, by Sarah M. Eden, Sally Britton, Ashtyn Newbold, Karen Thornell, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book has four historical romance novellas. The first story is A Family Christmas by, Sally Briton, Cyril Grant is back home from being over seas, the year is 1816. This Christmas season will be a very good one for Cyril, for he shall fall in love. The second story is Christmas Forevermore, by Sarah M. Eden, The year is 1818, Minna Schofield is single and alone, but she has close friend and lots of Christmas parties to attend alone, their is a matchmaker who wants to match Minna up, will she succeed? the third story is, Christmas at Cranfield by Ashtyn Newbold. The year is 1813, and Hannah and her best friend Samuel are in love, but have not been able to be together, will this finally be the year they can be together? The fourth story is, A Thrill of Hope by, Karen Thornell, the year is 1814 and Isabel Reid is not in the Christmas mood, stranded in the snowstorm with a bear of a man does not help, will this Christmas get worse or better for Isabel? Four delightful short stories, I loved the Snowflake pages between the chapters so pretty. The 1800 where so different from 2023, such an interesting time though.
Christmas Stories are my absolute favorite! And this collection does not disappoint. The best part is that the collection includes four of my favorite authors.
In "A Family Christmas," Cyril is visiting his family for Christmas after being away most of his life. While trying to discover where he fits into his family's dynamics, he discovers a charming young lady who happens to be his grandmother's beloved companion.
"Christmas Forevermore" is a fun retelling of A Christmas Carol, where Minna tries her best to avoid the local match maker.
In "Christmas at Cranfield," longtime friends have a second chance at love during Christmas.
Finally, in "A Thrill of Hope," Isabella wants to pass over Christmas, but a traveling companion may change all that.
What a great collection! A must read!
'Christmas Forevermore' provides a lovely escape to another time and place with four heart lifting stories. The stories are unique but each has a joy that is consistent with a positive outcome in celebration of the Christmas season. I highly recommend adding it to your holiday reading shelf.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
"Christmas Forevermore" is a collection of 4 romance novellas set in England during the Regency period. The main characters were all likable, and most grew and healed through the events in the story. I liked three of the novellas a lot as the romantic pairs helped to bring out the best in the other, all while participating in Christmas festivities.
In “Christmas at Cranfield,” they knew they loved each other during that first Christmas, but the hero had already agreed to marry a woman he didn't love. The moment he was free, he didn't do anything to see if his true love was still free. So she encouraged an acceptable, nice suitor only to discover during the second Christmas that the hero hadn't married. She strongly hinted that she wanted him to propose, but he's terrified that his best friend (her brother) will turn down his offer because he has no title. He never had the guts to ask, which really disappointed me, though they obviously got a happy ending anyway.
There was no sex or bad language. Overall, it's a charming holiday romance collection that I'd recommend to fans of Regency romances.
Sarah M. Eden - Christmas Forevermore London 1818
In true Sarah M. Eden style, a lighthearted story that is woven with deep, meaningful truths. Minna Schofield, Rupert, Simon, and Lettie are all the very best of friends. Minna has been through some heavy losses and is now facing Christmastime in London. A prominent societal matron, Mrs. Jackman, has decided she will find Minna a match by Christmas. Three suitors selected by said matron, each have lessons to teach Minna about the past, present, and future, reminiscent of Christmas Carol. I loved the poignancy and reflective writing represented in this story.
Sally Britton - A Family Christmas 1816
Jane is warm, friendly, and caring companion to the countess. She does her best to help Cyril fit in with his family that he hardly knows. He is serious and stoic, yet drawn to her warmth. The magic of Christmas sets the stage for these two and shows them anew how special it is to have family and friends. I loved the promise of hope and new beginnings.
Ashtyn Newbold Christmas at Cranfield 1813
Hannah has always known her heart belonged to Samuel. Despite being an admirable man, and her brother’s best friend, he’s not titled. As Hannah embarks on her first season, Her brother William, the Viscount of Northam, has determined she will marry well. Both Hannah and Samuel find themselves engaged to other people, and even though it is for all the wrong reasons, they are both loyal and honorable. This Christmastime finally offers a chance at true love. I love Samuel’s willingness to put Hannah above himself and Hannah’s willingness to honor her brother. In the end, these two are perfectly matched and there’s nothing like a little Christmas magic to straighten the crooked path to happy endings.
Karen Thornell - A Thrill of Hope
Yorkshire County 1814
Isabel Reid traveled to her aunt’s for Christmas after her father recently remarried. Would rather be alone.
Robert, distant and churlish after a failed engagement.
Thrown together by well meaning matchmakers determine to play along with a fake attachment. Isabel determines to find ways to aggravate Robert and see him blush. Robert begins to realize that Isabel is nothing like other ladies in society. As matchmaking attempts come to full fruition, both Robert and Isabel find all that hoped for, and more. I love the idea of finding love where least expected and realizing the importance of hope and value of family.
