this was a wild romantic and chemistry filled ride. I liked it alot. I will read more from NS Johnson
***3.5/4 Stars***
I’m a little waffly over the rating for reasons, but I can’t deny that I enjoyed this book. It was interesting and sweet and I found the world…for lack of a better word, Charming. The whole fairytale vibe grew on me just like Jake and Rosie did.
My heart hurt for Jake and all that he had been through, but I loved how he was determined to take care of his friends. Rosie is determined and fully comfortable in her own skin. And though their romance was all kinds of insta ~ like Insta insta ~ I still liked them together. I could have used a bit more deep conversation, but fate is fate and with the whole town being a “fairytale” I rolled with it.
I will say that I do have a lot of questions because while Rosie and Jake’s HEA is wrapped up, there are other side storylines that are just left in limbo and I need to know what happens. Thankfully, I’m all in with seeing how Jake’s & Rosie’s friends all end up getting their HEA’s so I’ve got the next book and am crossing my toes that my questions get answered one way or another.
I received this book for free for an honest unbiased review from Netgalley.
I wish more books were this well written. Characters were witty and the setting fantastic.
Love, love love this book. When Jake, a military vet, comes back to town, a town named after the founding family, his family, he is not so happy. After being gone for years, he comes to claim the legacy his father and grandfather left for him. A house that is in bad need of repair. Little doe he k ow he will meet the girl of his dreams and face many challenges! This is such a sweet and funny love story! I loved every minute of it!!
I am patiently waiting for the next book in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens for the Grimm valley romance book Wicked Charmer!!
This was Jack and Rosie’s story.Jack come home to find his house has been condemned. The house he planned on making into a vets rehab. When going to the mayors office to deal with it he runs into a beautiful young woman who insists that Jack is her soul mate, her prince in shining armor
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
A definite grumpy man meets woman who is all sunshine... Some funny parts.. Not that steamy... A book that it seemed like it went by quickly...
Once upon a time in Grimm Valley fairy tale characters are reimagined into everyday heroes and damsels. Jake Grimm is a guy I’d like to get to know in this wonderfully spicy story of wounded warrior meets small town princess. Everyone deserves a happily ever after but some find themselves fighting it.
I loved he authors sneaky way of making everyones favorite fairy tale characters into actual people living everyday lives. Beautiful. I can’t wait see the wonderful possibilities play out in the coming books of the series and I’m itching to get my hands on them and every single one of the panty dropping men in the bunch.

I love arc reading with NetGalley!
Grimm Prince by NS Johnson is book 1 in the Grimm’s Valley Romances series and looks at the characters Jake Grimm a man who has come back to his small town after 15 years and to be honest he is a bit of a grump. Even when he meets Rosie, a woman who is a bit quirky but who he is instantly attracted too. But Jake has a plan, and it doesn’t involve Rosie, no matter how many times she tries to pop up in his life!
Rosie on the other hand is looking for her Prince Charming and she thinks that she has found him in cranky bear Jake, she tries to rally the townspeople to support him as well as to help Jake with the burdens he is carrying.
Overall, this was a pretty sweet book with some lovable characters and some funny moments.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

“A steamy, small town fairytale romance”
Yep, that’s it! That’s what this is! Exactly like it says on the tin!! Grimm Prince is what it sounds like it’s going to be.
No, this is no grandmaster work of literary prose, but I’m going to guess that if you picked it up, that’s not what you’re looking for. No surprises here. The writing is passable but certainly not great. The use of metaphor is occasionally exhaustive and it’s chock-full of similes hammered home harder than necessary. That said, as a whole this was perfect for what I was in the mood for, It’s like a Hallmark novel had a book baby with the TV show ‘Once.’ Never too heavy, and sexy right from the start.
Simple and effective if that’s the vibe you’re in the mood for. I enjoyed and would happily read the next one.
Jake is the unwanted hometown prince. He has spent his youth serving for his country and now he just wants to come home and restore his house for his wounded army mates.
Rosie believes in love, fate and tarot cards. All the things that Jake does not. Rosie has been waiting for her true love, who the cards said was not far away. When Rosie bumps into Jake and the town hall, she knows. She knows right away that this is the man she has been waiting for. Now all she has to do is convince him that she is the one who will make Jake give Rosie all his tomorrows.
While Jake's shoulder is sore from the IED that ripped through his unit, what else has been damaged? Will he ever get this house ready for his mates from the same unit? Will Rosie be able to show Jake that love and fate exist? And who are all these princes descending on this small town in Georgia?
This was a quick, sweet read. It didn't really have enough depth for me, but the spice was fantastic. This is the first in a series and I can't wait for more, especially Charming's story.
Grimm Prince is the first book in the Grimm's Valley Romances by NS Johnson. Grimm Prince is a steamy fairytale retelling. It is the romantic story of Jake, a wounded veteran and a Rosie, a tarot card reader and small town business owner.
I liked the idea of the story and really liked Jake’s character, but I didn’t like Rosie’s character at all. She was all about fate this and fate that, talking to birds on her windowsill, saying her mom is the villain in their story, and calling Jake her Prince Charming. She was just too much for me. So for that reason I would not recommend this book.
Sexy, cute, and fun! New author for me and was happily surprised with how much I liked this genre! Would recommend!
3.5 stars.
A story introducing a new series involving wounded heroes, “Grimm Prince”, by NS Jonhson, features a hero haunted by trauma and guilt and the heroine who shows him with sure confidence that they’re meant to be together.
The beginning is wonderful, intriguing. It was also fun sometimes, despites Jake’s psychological and physical wounds.
Rosie’s quiet certainty about them, despite her youth, feels like a balm after the devastating process he went through. Her optimism is contagious.
Jake and Rosie are likeable, sweet characters, both generous, compassionate souls, and invested in helping others.
Blending instant yet deep love, sensuality and eroticism, teasing and fondness creates an original romance between them.
The Grimm House project is very interesting and Jake’s friends (and I suspect Rosie’s, too) will certainly make good protagonists in future stories. Charming is such an intriguing guy and with such a challenging condition. The way they all work in the building renovation is compelling.
Accepting Rosie’s intuition and special skills wasn’t difficult, but I felt their relationship needed more development
Emphasizing Jake’s potential as a multiple orgasm producer, and describing their sexual encounters, was not as interesting as exploring the ways their instant attraction and chemistry were grounded in a deep and even inexplicable connection and mutual understanding, often more told than shown.
Some aspects of the rivalry between Rosie’s parents or the predestination of the protagonists’ love seemed a few times a bit forced.
I would have liked to see them spending more time together or doing things so that I would be fully convinced of the strong emotional bonding.
I enjoyed this quick read much more than I expected. I picked it up because I love twists on fairy tale themes but being unfamiliar with the author, I wasn't sure what kind of read I was going to get. I ended up with an entertaining story of a quirky heroine and her wounded grumpy chosen mate. Rosie, our FMC, is the free-spirited (but well-educated) daughter of the mayor and sheriff of the small town of Grimm. Jake, our MMC, is a military vet who believes he is responsible for a failed mission that left every member of his Special Forces team with injuries of varying ranges of severity. He is back in Grimm to set up his family house as a rehab place for his team and then other vets. The mayor, however, has other plans for the house and Rosie has lots of plans for Jake.
Rosie is a great FMC. I liked her spunk and the way she owns all the things that make her different. While she is very much the opposite of my own cynical self, it doesn't come across as sickening, which is a hard balance to keep. Jake is fine as her foil. He sees her as who she is pretty quickly and doesn't want to change her even as he doesn't necessarily buy into her various plans. The secondary characters, who I presume will later become main characters of their own stories, are interesting and make me interested in learning more.
While I did like the majority of the book, there are some issues. The mayor's desire to seize Jake's family home is never fully explained within the larger context of the mayor's plans. I didn't come away with a clear view of the point of the changes to the town or if those changes were fully successful. And in a town dependent on tourism, an overeagerness to issue expensive parking tickets and an unwillingness to repair roads make little to no sense. I also didn't realize being in the Special Forces also makes one capable of all facets of home rehab. I also didn't fully understand the Grimm family backstory.
Even with the issues, I would read more in this series. 3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.
Jake comes home to Grimm's Valley planning on residing in his old family home with his "brothers", some of the men he served with in Afghanistan. He has quite the task ahead of him as the house needs quite a bit of work.
Rosie has grown up in Grimm's Valley. Her mom is the Mayor, her father the Sheriff. She is a free spirit, reads Tarot cards and is opening a shop that sells Crystals, healing herbs and she can do readings.
Jake doesn't believe in love and happy endings...Rosie believes she will find her fated mate.
This book started off kind of slow for me. It didn't grab me at first and I didn't feel a link between Jake and Rosie but as I read on it did finally start to come together. Rosie is such a great character and never gives up and you can't help but catch her enthusiasm.
Jake's "brothers" bring quite a bit of interest also, with different issues and personalities. I can see more of them in the future.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Loved this book!!! This is funny and sweet, but just a bit of spice. I found myself smiling as I read and alternated between wanting to flip the pages as quickly as possible to see what happened next and going slowly to savor the story. The characters as likable and endearing. - the author made me feel invested in them and want them to get their HEA ending.
This is just a fun book that I hope is the start of a series. Fans of the genre will love this book. I will be waiting anxiously to see what she writes next.
I liked the story and it had a lot of potential but I felt it was too short to fully invest in the characters. I was interested about the other characters also and I was happy to see that this is a series. I will give the next book a chance. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the early read
