Loved reading the engaging and captivating romance story. When Marjorie is undercover working for the criminal, Snowley, her thoughts toward the handsome, scoundrel Lord Adrian change. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story. Can't wait to read the next story in the series by the phenomenal author, Erica Ridley!

I've read quite a few of this author's books, but I just couldn't get into this one. I felt no pull toward H or h and didn't much care for the "insta-lust" that implies looks are all that matter in a relationship. I wasn't interested enough to read much more than the first 50 pages. #NetGalley #MyRoguetoRuin

This was very sweet! The plot was very fun & felt a lot more whimsical from many historicals I've read. I really loved Marjorie & Adrian; their banter was just *chef's kiss*. This is the first book I've read in this series, and I do think I would've had an easier time getting into it had I read some of the earlier books.

Big thank you to Forever/NetGalley for this ARC!

Ok this was very cute, but the romance element just wasn't fully delivering. Honestly, I know that that's what you get with illustrated covers, but man!! Sometimes you really think you're gonna get steam and when it's so *poetically* written, I'd rather it just be closed door at that point.
I do have more thoughts on this book though, since the writing was great, but I need to reread it to fully sort my thoughts out. After the first read, I'm giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars rounded up to 4. *More information and quotes will be in this review when I reread it (today or tomorrow).

Some of these characters are hard to like at first. There’s Adrian, who was banished for something he didn’t do, so instead he did all that he can to live up to the rumours of his reputation. Then there is his sister, Iris, who is deeply in debt but continues to gamble. There is also Snowley, a criminal with Adrian under his control, and the person that the Wynchester’s are trying to destroy. Marjorie infiltrate’s Snowley’s lair as a Rookery girl named Mary and gets to know Adrian, only to discover that he isn’t the shameful crook that she thought he was. It is quite an adventure as Adrian and Marjorie create counterfeit coins for Snowley while trying to bring him down. I enjoyed the suspense of what will happen next, while being entertained by the Winchesters and their menagerie.

Deaf representation?? In my regency romance TBR??? It's more likely than you think!!!

So thrilled to read Erica Ridley's latest. It was a delightful story from start to finish, and I'm so glad that romances are getting more diverse and recognizing disabled characters in a more complete and refreshing way!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for this ARC.

A nice lighthearted read with some twists and turns. The plot about forgery and dukes and big happy families was light hearted. There was romance that I found happened quickly? Adrian and Marjory ended up working well together. I feel the story could have been solved and completed in about half the amount that it was. The animals in the story were cute and Snowley was a character that you really hated, greedy little curmudgeonly dirt bag. The book is a bad story turned good story but the side characters gave it just a little something extra that added some nicely added filler to the story line.

I have enjoyed the Wild Wynchesters Series since I found the first book on display in my local library. The Wynchesters are unique, clever individuals brought together as children who have become a loving, resourceful, selfless family. I love this family and their madcap adventures in the name of justice!

The newest book, My Rogue to Ruin, centers on Marjorie Wynchester, a talented, but not in her eyes, artist who lives a somewhat homebound life because she is partially deaf. I found Marjorie endearing because she likes her life ordered and unchanging. However, her family is changing all around her with the addition of the spouses and partners. Marjorie feels the need to find her place amidst the changes proving to her family that she is a contributing valuable Wynchester. She also unexpectedly realizes that she too would like to find that person made just for her. She had a brief, chance meeting with a handsome man and he begins to fill her mind with such daydreams - if only she knew his name.

As a new client is presented to the family, Marjorie steps up wanting to lead. This case brings her into direct contact with the man of her daydreams, Lord Adrian Webb! Based on the information presented in the planning sessions, he is not the man of her dreams, but a disowned, banished spare working for a criminal boss in the rookery. As we know, all is not as it seems with our ne'er to do well hero! As the case begins, Marjorie infiltrates the criminal organization as Mary and begins working side by side with Adrian without revealing her identity or purpose.

What unfolds is a tale of personal discovery, creativity and respect, Ridley gives us a ring side seat into the world of counterfeiting with details. As with all Wynchester books, there are twists, turns, and frustrations as well as support from family, friends and animals! I did not see how this book could end happily but Ridley sur deftly weaves an ending blending law, intelligence, ducal power and foresight. It took me by surprise!!

Don't miss My Rogue to Ruin! It is fun, fast paced and filled with everything you have come to expect from a Wild Wynchester book! I received a Advanced Readers Copy from Net Gallery. My review is based on my reading experience and I enjoyed every bit of it!

I’ve fallen so deeply in love with these darn Wynchester siblings that I am both eagerly awaiting Elizabeth and Jacob’s books and also absolutely dreading the day when this series is complete.
You guessed it, I read the upcoming fourth book (in what might be one of my favourite historical romance series of all time) My Rogue to Ruin by Erica Ridley.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Forever Publishing for the advance copy, thoughts below are my own, enjoy!

I think that there is something so inherently special about this family Erica has crafted. They are so fun and kind and earnest and funny, and just so genuinely love and care for each other that my goodness do I love reading their love stories. This outing, is no different than books 1-3 which is to say it’s equal parts magic and delight. I would encourage y’all to read this in order, just to get a sense of how the siblings really do love and support each other, but if you did want to snag this (or any of the others) as a stand-alone you won’t lessen the enjoyment at all!

This time our Wynchester in the romantic spotlight is our shy gal Marjorie. The cunning and brilliant artist who does love a forgery (as long as it helps those that need help the most!) and Lord Adrian Webb an absolute scoundrel who also has a penchant for forging a vase or two. Adrian gets into a pickle when he tries to untangle himself from a shifty character who has been peddling forged artifacts to unsuspecting lordlings. Having failed spectacularly at extricating himself from his ‘deb’ Adrian starts down a path that would surely lead to ruin (see what I did there).

Pretty quickly Marjorie, is ready to ‘prove’ to her siblings that she can hang with them and their fantastical exploits. I gotta say I just love this micro-trope. When an MC is certain they are unable to be as spectacular as their siblings because they have a skewed view of themselves. Only to (against all odds) sort out that they are, in-fact, just as magical as they think their siblings are. I mean:

You’re Marjorie Wynchester, I will always have faith in you. You should too.

Whew.

From the moment (well maybe the second moment) Marjorie and Adrian meet, friends I was all in. I love the way Erica tells stories. They are earnest, and soft and sexy and this one is all those things (and more). The banter here is truly out of control great and I kept catching myself grinning at my kindle like a (you guessed it) lunatic.

Two of my favourite moments (one from Adrian)

She was so sweet, it pained him. So mischevious it charmed him. So unpredictable it dazed him. So Marjorie, that just being near her made him feel as though he were welcomed in the heavens.

And one from my man HBIC Liz:

“I can loan you a sword,” Elizabeth offered. “Men are fifty percent more tolerable after they’ve been run through with a sharp blade.”

The central conflict and resulting Wynchester adventure was a freaking delight! And it held up to my high expectations and kept me hooked from page 1 all the way to the epilogue. Grab this one for any of the following:

- Banter
- Found family
- Competence porn but make it antiquities
- A coterie of hilarious homing animals (thank you Jacob)
- Delicious smut
- Two self sacrificing ding dongs (affectionate)
- Disability rep
- Did I mention banter?

I loved this one so much and I hope you’ll grab it and give it a chance. Grab it on pre-order now so you’ll have it when it lands in store and online September 12 2023. And while you’re waiting go on an read books 1-3 now (you will not regret it).

Erica Ridley's Wynchesters series is really great, and I think this is my favorite one so far. The Wynchesters are a tight-knit family of adopted siblings who help those who can't help themselves because of societal restrictions (think Leverage, but in Regency England). The series has a lot of diversity, with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disabled characters.

Marjorie Wynchester is used to a behind the scenes role in her family’s capers, and she longs to take a more active role. She’s partially deaf, and she’s learned to cope, but people tend to underestimate her. For her family’s latest case, she insists on being front and center.

Lord Adrian Webb is returning from a 7-year exile from England. After being turned out of his family, he’s made a living with some shady dealings, which leaves him beholden to a nasty villain.
Marjorie’s case brings her and Adrian together, and although they’re deeply suspicious of each other, a bond develops. I really loved the relationship between them. They’re both keeping secrets, but they can’t fight their attraction. Adrian is a great hero, a man who’s much more than his bad reputation. The connection between him and Marjorie is really lovely.

In "My Rogue to Ruin" by Erica Ridley, Marjorie Wynchester takes charge of an investigation to expose a forger, but it leads her to Lord Adrian Webb, the prime suspect. The book is a captivating Regency romp filled with witty characters and an unusual plotline. Although the story is entertaining, there are a few flaws. Adrian's character was hard to buy into as he is supposedly involved in a risky business without any background checks on the people he works with. Moreover, the relationship between Adrian and Marjorie is intense, and their sudden attraction seems improbable. However, the book is still a pleasant read, and the side characters add depth to the story. The author's writing style is light and engaging, with a humorous touch that makes the story hilarious at times. Overall, "My Rogue to Ruin" is a wholesome Regency romance with a unique plot and amusing characters that make it an enjoyable read.

A glorious romp of a book that is sure to please fans of the Wild Wynchesters. There's just a lot to love here, from Marjorie's role in leading up her own Wynchester mission to the sweet and rakish Adrian who falls at her feet. I loved the plot of this book and the way it highlighted Marjorie's specific skills and created some wonderful, tense forced proximity between the characters.

Something that impresses me about all of the Wynchester books is how Ridley so adeptly balances the story of the main love interests with the wider world of the Wynchester siblings. We get all the fun hijinx and family feels without the book ever feeling like too much chaos, and without losing sight of the central story.

Overall, I can really feel Erica Ridley's joy in these pages. She's created characters who speak to one another and show each other love and support in a way that we all deserve, but might not see a lot. I can't wait for the next installment.

Lord Adrian Webb was sent away from home years ago because he supposedly dishonored a young lady. His family had never understood him anyway because he wanted to be an artist. In order to support himself after being disowned, he got involved with a criminal named Snowley, stealing and forging artworks. Now he wants to end the association but Snowley won't let him. He is being forced to commit the greater crime of counterfeiting. Marjorie Wynchester is also an artist. She has taken it upon herself to help those without recourse, by using her artistic talents. On discovering the plot to pass counterfeit money, she volunteers to help put a stop to it. Overall, the book was a pleasant read with an unusual plot line. I didn't think much of Lord Adrian who got himself into this mess rather stupidly, The plot was also hard to buy into, as it has an arch criminal like Snowley simply allowing Marjorie to work for him in a very risky business, without any background check when she walks in off the street, Marjorie is able to go back and forth from her work to her family manse without difficulty. I also thought that the relationship between Adrian and Marjorie became too intense too quickly. Would someone like Marjorie really fall for this screw up without a better reason than proximity for a few days? It was an entertaining story, though if you can ignore the issues mentioned.

Marjorie Wynchester feels different from the rest of her adopted family: she's happiest in her art studio, and she doesn't have the skills or courage to lead one of their wild and sometimes wacky missions. Or does she? When the family learns about a rash of counterfeit coins leading back to a powerful moneylender known as the Grandfather of St Giles, Marjorie declares herself to be the best person to infiltrate the counterfeiting ring, given her art skills and her often underestimated personality.

Lord Adrian Webb, disowned by his marquess father years ago, took up creating copies of ancient treasures for the Grandfather of St Giles to sell to unsuspecting nobles. But now that he's back in London, the game is up -- and he's caught in a trap of creating counterfeit coins to pay off his debt. When an attractive young woman shows up, offering to make better coins than his, he tries desperately to scare her off, not wanting her trapped in the same web. She's determined to stay, though, and he can't resist her in any way.

I've enjoyed the Wild Wynchesters series for all the over-the-top heists and missions the characters perpetrate and the sheer fun they seem to have in doing good in delightful ways, and this book has much the same wild improbability in the family's capers. Marjorie, who has been something of a wallflower in previous books, gets her chance to bloom here. I appreciated that her partial deafness and her synesthesia gave her more advantages than disadvantages in dealing with people, and that helped her make plans and re-make plans as needed. Adrian played the part of a ne'er-do-well often in order to hide how trapped he felt and how much he needed to protect others, though his character growth felt a little rushed by the end. Together they mostly seemed to work, but something still felt slightly lacking to me. And of course I enjoyed all the input from the other Wild Wynchesters, including their respect for Marjorie and all the ways Jacob's animals contributed to the plot.

Fast paced and enjoyable, though slightly underbaked in terms of romance. 3 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for a chance to read and review an advanced copy of this book!

I loved the overall plot and character development—Marjorie and Adrian’s chemistry worked for me. However, there are a few plot points that are unexplained and/or resolved too neatly without further explanation. It was still a fun and escaping read that I did enjoy.

I am an unabashed fan of the Wild Wynchesters series. My Rogue to Ruin is the latest installment in the Wynchester series of capers. While investigating counterfeit currency, the artistic Marjorie finds herself literally locked in the same workshop as Lord Adrian Webb, second son and first-rate rogue. The two challenge each other’s misconceptions while slowly revealing the truth about their identities and intentions. Adrian gets knives, books, and potatoes thrown at him as the various Wynchesters inquire about his intentions.

I really enjoyed the pacing of the novel and the romance. Marjorie poses as “Mary” and works her way into the center of the counterfeiting ring, first to take down Adrian and the crime boss Snowley and then to rescue Adrian or maybe help him rescue himself. Marjorie needs to discover who she is without her family and within the new family dynamic as more and more Wynchesters find love. Adrian needs to believe that he deserves love and family, even though he has not always chosen to do good. The novel is full of wit, banter, and shenanigans, in true Wynchester fashion. It is best read as part of the series, including the heist focused novellas between novels.

I cannot speak to how Marjorie’s disability (deaf/hard of hearing) or the way she sees emotions as colors are presented.

I received an advance review copy of this book from NetGalley.

Oh a new Wynchester book! Stop everything! This is Marjorie and Adrian's story and it is a good one. Adrian has been banished for 7 years for something he didn't do. Yet returning has not been what he had hoped. Marjorie is in charge of the mission. Read this one, it is a good story.

Librarian review: I think I would only recommend this book in reader's advisory of someone was looking for historical romance with disability representation.

Reader review:

3.5 stars

I've been reading the Wild Wynchesters series as each book has come out since The Duke Heist. Although the first book has been, in my opinion, far and away the best in the series (and the best book by Ridley overall), I have loved the diversity of identities and couples that you rarely see in regency romances.

The fourth book follows Marjorie, the artistic sibling in the Wynchester family, a group of talented adoptees from the streets of London that have inherited the wealth, altruism, and social mission of their adopted father. Due to her talent, Marjorie is sent to infiltrate a money counterfeiting operation conning poor people out of their valuables.

Ridley's voice and characters are comedic and fun-loving, making for an enjoyable read. However, be ready for more (almost annoyingly) kooky characters. The unique talents of each Wynchester are fun, but that they are always so perfect and infallible can get boring, especially by the fourth book. Their plans do go wrong often, but there is still no doubt that everything will always go right for them. And their heisting and scheming felt unexplained and too easy. Their plans seemed beyond unlikely, and always hinged on the siblings' skills being inexplicably amazing and undetectable.

I felt several themes and side plots went unexplained or unresolved. Marjorie's past before her adoption, for example, is almost entirely untouched. Her ability to see people's auras/colors is thrown in haphazardly, like the author added it last minute and threw it into random scenes. Her deafness was part of her backstory and I expected it to factor more into her experience in the book, but it didn't. And most of all, (view spoiler)

One big thing that bothered me throughout the book was the incorrect timeline. It was said on multiple occasions that Adrian left England seven years ago. Except he left when he was 19 and his sister 13, and they are now 29 (mentioned turning 28 the year prior) and 23 (described as two years past her majority), respectively. Please, please fix this before publication.

Pros:
-Diversity of identities, including racial, disability, gender, and sexual orientation
-Found family
-Ridley's voice is wonderful and funny as usual

Cons:
-Whoever made the decision to completely change the cover style at the fourth book in the series--straight to jail, right away
-Entire family with a case of the Too Perfects
-The heisting and scheming wasn't giving what it needed to give

What a wild ride with Marjorie and Adrian this is! Just when you think you’ve got it figured out , a new twist and turn gets thrown in! I loved how the author made Adrian not so perfect, with a scandalous background and a gift of forgery.Marjorie is a woman after my own heart as she, like me, hates change, but has to deal with it as change is the only constant in life. The pets are all adorable, the contingencies are hilarious and the love scenes divine, especially the first one between the H/h. Did NOT see that one coming. I absolutely adored this book!

I received this ARC copy for free and these are my own opinions
