I could not put this down! Following Adele, a marriage therapist with famous parents, this story exposes what happens after her husband goes missing, and his trail of lies and deceit is exposed.

I LOVED that we learn so much from flippant one-off comments as the story develops. I LOVED that I did not see the end coming until I was almost at the end. I LOVED that the twists kept hitting until the actual last page! (And the audio narrator? Absolutely worth listening; she was phenomenal.)

Thanks to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for a review copy!

Can you trust anyone?
This is the question that reverberates in my mind ever since the chilling finale of this fast paced and highly entertaining thriller.
It also answers a thought I’ve wondered about “Should therapists seek therapy”?
This is a real page turner and the audio narration is sublime.
Five Stars undoubtedly deserved and highly recommended.

There were so many repeated lines ‘I may as well have been…’, far too many similes and annoying hands slicked with sweat, descriptions of physical experiences.

The story line was quite compelling and twisty, but the prose felt like it needed heavy editing.

The audio version is about a 6 hour listen (on 1.25 speed)
Thrillers aren't typically my thing but I am trying to expand my palate.
This book is FAST PACED and you can't take your ears away for a second or you will miss everything. There are so many twists and turns and if thrillers are your thing, you will not be disappointed.

I really was enjoying the book at the start of it, interested in what happened and who did what. However, one of the twisted/reveals really ruined it for me. It was a good way to pass the time while cleaning the house.

"The Marriage Counselor" by Dea Poirier is an absolute mind-bending thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The novel features an unreliable and unlikable narrator, which adds a layer of complexity to the story and keeps readers guessing until the very end.

I found myself thoroughly engrossed in the book's twisted and suspenseful plot, and I appreciated the author's deft hand at building tension and creating a sense of unease. The characters are well-developed and intriguing, and the story is full of unexpected twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Overall, "The Marriage Counselor" is a must-read for fans of thrillers with these elements. If you enjoy unreliable narrators and mind-bending plots, then this book is definitely for you. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

I loved the story; it was well-written and had twists and turns. I liked our main character and all of our side characters. I loved the ending. I did not like the narrator I feel her tone was off when a chapter ended vs when another started and it threw me off but as the book progressed it got better. Overall, a great listen.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC audiobook. I wasn't a fan. I think if I had read the book, it's possible I would have enjoyed it more. The story is not really believable. I know it's fiction. However, the way the main character reacts when she is thrown into different scenarios are frustrating. She seems she should be smarter with her decisions.
P.S. I could not stand Emma.

When Adele is told her husband didn’t show up for work and that he’s missing and oh yes his work also thought he been on vacation for two weeks, she is appalled and disappointed and worried about how this will affect her own job as a marriage counselor but little does Adele know she has lots more to worry about. Years ago her parents died in a fiery car crash that may not of been the accident they want thought. They were popular TV show hosts it is now coming out that they may have lied about DNA test and other life-changing events that caused negative things to happen in the week but why is all this coming out right after her husband goes missing? Adele is at her wits end and to top it all off her ex-boyfriend is the policeman who told her about it to make things even more complicated he believes she is the one who got away and when she turns to him for help he assumes they’re back together. her husband‘s ex business partner Lucas is also hounding her for money her assistant blames her for her face and name Bing or TV one of Adele‘s clients went home and killed his self and the wife is also blaming Adele it seems like the people with a growing dislike for Adele only grow. As if that’s not bad enough she’s also waking up thinking she has blood on her hands Kennerdell find out who is behind all of this and why her husband left and what he did with all the money he stole and what will she do about Cameron her love Lauren X? I found this book so very interesting and although I didn’t think it was executed the best way it could’ve been as I found many mistakes in the book I still wanted to see how it ended I listen to the audiobook and although I found the narrator had a great voice sometimes instead of reading it as a thriller it almost sounded like she was trying to sound sexy which threw me off but for the most part I think she did an OK job. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it as I said there’s a couple of things better contradictory but they are small things like she had her cell phone but then they found the cell phone on the nightstand with the note on top of it so it’s not things that skew the plot in anyway and it’s such a great plot! I received this book from NetGalley and Bookoucher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

The Marriage Counselor was an intriguing read! I enjoyed the twist in the story (especially the end). I thought the writing was well done, however I didn’t really like Adele. But perhaps that was how she was supposed to be written! It was a fast paced story that kept me on my seat & I enjoyed reading it!

So much happened in this book, and I’m honestly still processing it all. The story was pretty good, but I hated every single character (I think you’re supposed to). You might guess one or two of the twists, but there is no way to get them all. I wish we got more closure on the story with her parents, but perhaps that’s for a sequel.

Imagine being a successful marriage counselor with an unsuccessful marriage. Main Character, Adele, discovers that her husband Patrick is missing but that’s not the only thing she’ll discover. With the help of Cameron (her cop ex-boyfriend), she’ll try to connect the dots and solve the mystery. After MANY twist and turns, we discover who’s really to blame for Patricks disappearance, the death of multiple people, and the ongoing probing of Adele’s past.
NO SPOILERS… you’ll have to read to find out just what Adele uncovers… The ending is the biggest twist 😱.

Overall this was a great suspense/ thriller with the perfect amount of drama and manipulation. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was an interesting thriller and I did not see that plot twist at the end! I do wish there would have been a bit more about Adele’s parents and how they impacted her life and made her into a con artist. Overall it was a decent read.

Talk about a thriller! This book grabbed my attention straight away and keep me interested until the very end. Every time I thought I had it all figured out, a new twist would come along.

Adele learns from police that her husband Patrick is missing. Soon after she discovers that he’s had all sorts of secrets….

I listened to the audiobook in one day. The narrator did a great job.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I finished this book a few days ago but I needed a few days to gather my thoughts. Initially, I was hooked. A husband suddenly disappearing and not telling his workplace about his wife’s existence is intriguing and something I would want to follow to the very end.

However, as the story continued, I found it difficult to connect or care about any of the characters. The story is seen from the perspective of Adele, the daughter of popular marriage counselors who is also a marriage counselor herself.

It would have been better if listeners or readers also got Patrick’s perspective. He is mentioned throughout the book but that’s about as far as it went.

There are parts of the book that are repetitive and it gave me a sense of déjà vu, as if I was listening to the same chapter over and over again.

I found a lot of things unrealistic, especially the way Adele, the MC, allowed her receptionist, Emma, to call her names to her face and blackmail her. If I were Adele, I’d fire her and record our conversations and bring them to the police’s attention.

Anyway, by the last few chapters of the story, I didn’t really care anymore who died or went to jail. I just wanted to get it over with.

The Family Secret by Kiersten Modglin

Thank you to @netgalley, @dreamscapemedia, & @kierstenmodglinauthor for the opportunity to listen to this #arcaudiobook in exchange for my honest review! This is available for purchase now as well as on #kindleunlimited.

Recently engaged couple Austyn Murphy and Lowell Bass spring into action when they receive word that Lowell’s parents and heirs to the massive family fortune have passed away unexpectedly. Austyn accompanies Lowell back to his parents’ home mansion. Once Austyn arrives at the Bass mansion she is caught up not only in the grandeur of the home and how it differs from her own life and upbringing but also by its mystique. Will Austyn’s digging land her in trouble she can’t find her way out of?

I couldn’t put this down! I listened on audiobook and I recommend it for those who enjoy audiobooks. I would describe this as The Inheritance Games meets The Family Game. This had the right amount of intrigue, suspense, and payoff. Loved how the intricate web came down all the way back to the spider. Highly recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 - 4.5/5

She feels she doesn't know her husband. In the midst of all of this, someone ends up dead. Is Patrick's behind this person's death? There were alot of twist and turn in this book including the last big one which I did not see it coming.Thankyou to netgalley for advance audiobook

The story didn’t really ever get going for me it was slow paced and all felt quiet obvious. Was an easy listen although not very thrilling and didn’t ever really draw me in.

Adele is a known marriage counselor in her community, and when one fine morning she realizes that her husband Patrick has been hiding secrets from her she is really devastated. Slowly she learns that he was soon planning to leave her and start a family with another woman.
In the due course of this investigation her former boyfriend and a cop now, Cameron seems to get really close to her and things move really fast,

this was a 2.5 star read - there was less character development, and sometimes there was a forceful development of some characters. Since I was listening to the audio version, I can tell I really disliked Emma's (Adele's assistant) character - really annoying!!

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture Audio, Dea Poirier for approving this audio ARC in exchange for honest review.
