Amanda James weaves a captivating tale of love, legacy, and magical realism in Wish Upon a Cornish Moon. The novel unfolds across three timelines, each connected by the enchanting legend of Magic Cove.

In 1938, we meet 15-year-old Lamorna Williams, who casts her hopes for true love into the Atlantic with a message in a bottle. Her heartfelt wish is met when she receives a reply, sparking a connection that transcends time.

Fast forward to 1997, when Lamorna’s story is passed down to her great-nephew Ethan. Inspired by his great-aunt’s romantic adventure, Ethan pens his own message, which remains undiscovered for over two decades.

In the present day, single mother Merrin Pascoe learns about the mystical allure of Magic Cove. Driven by a whimsical impulse, Merrin makes a wish on the moon, only to discover a bottle the following day. This magical find sets her on a journey that intertwines her fate with the timeless legend of the cove.

James’s narrative beautifully blends historical romance with contemporary magic, creating a charming and heartwarming story. The multi-generational storyline adds depth and richness, making Wish Upon a Cornish Moon
a delightful read. The novel’s enchanting setting and the spellbinding concept of the message-in-a-bottle tradition make it a captivating escape. Ideal for fans of romantic fiction with a touch of the extraordinary, this book will leave you with a sense of wonder and a smile on your face.

I have never been to Cornwall but I definitely feel the vibe and feel the energy from this magical place!

The story of great love story. Indeed, two!

The magical story of old tale, power of the full moon and letter in the bottle which traveled across the pond to connect two soulmates together and give them a wonderful story to fulfill.
We have two stories, two generations and two time lines, so we can observe and see how the couples deal with a different challenges and how they deal to have a meaningful relationship and overcome what is on their way to succeed.

I like the vibe of this story. I like two magical stories which at the same time are kinda realistic and show all the hue of love and reality of their life. Even the tale from old time, does fit here perfectly do the Cornwall and this breathtaking views.

This is a story of one family throughout the years and how they find romance.

It brings the joys of romance and the heartbreak of family's.

It is an easy read, although fairly predictable.

I thought this was going to be abit of a modern take on Beauty and the Beast based on the cover tagline. However, going into the story with that expectation, I was disappointed.

I did enjoy the story overall but I think my own expectations not being met made the story fall short for me.

As I started the story I felt my heart sinking. There were lots of timelines and I thought I was going to get confused. I was just starting to think I couldn’t remember who was who when everything sorted itself out and the story settled on Loworna. From that moment on I was drawn in by the magic of ‘Magic Cove’. I was so pleased when it all wrapped up so nicely but I also loved that it didn’t gloss over harsh realities - for example Wenna refusing to speak to her sister and running out of time. It gave the story a reality alongside the magic.

What a wonderful heartfelt story. It will definitely put a smile on your face.
Frustrated with her current family situation, and wanting more for her future Lamorna is intrigued with
a local legend promising magic. She struggles with the decision to toss a message in a bottle into to ocean during a June full moon in hopes of finding true love.
Discovering her Grandmother regretted backing out years before hangs heavy on her mind and she finally goes for it. Lamorna finds her magic, will others be so lucky?
The story winds thru generations of believers, non believers and wannabe believers. Wonderful characters with great storylines.
How far would you go to believe in the magic, the fairy tale and happy ending?

I received a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions is this review are my own.

Thank to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

History repeats itself when Lamorna tells her great love story to her great nephew Ethan. 15 year old Lamorna threw a message in a bottle in the Atlantic at Magic Cove back in in 1938, someone writes back and becomes her great love. In 1997 Ethan is inspired to do the same however, his message isn’t answered for over twenty years. Single mom Merlin wish told of the legend of magic cove, wishes on the moon and discovers Ethan’s bottle in the sea the following day. Will this result in Ethan and Merlin’s love story or is it all a mere coincidence.

Another story about the romantic effect of the Cornish coast. But one of the better ones!
Messages in bottles are thrown into the ocean while incanting a rhyme. And unbelievably picked up and even though part of it happens during the war years they manage to meet up. Even when Harry has been injured.
But bringing it forward the Cornish ocean works its magic again with part of the same family. Wonderful. I cried.

This is a sweet story about finding one’s destiny and true love that is magical. Folklore has it that by visiting a magical cove in Cornwall and sending a message in a bottle, true love will find you. The story is told from multiple POV and from varying timelines, where each character has been touched by this magic. A Cornish girl finds true love with an American, her sister with an Irishman, and then later another with another American. While sweet and enchanting, I found myself skipping through parts because it didn’t quite hold my interest. Last, I did not like the character Ethan who was a “nice” guy but without much backbone. While magic was at work, there was nothing where someone was swept off their feet, so a bit lackluster in the romance department. I loved the setting of Cornwall, but I had hopes for a better story. This one just didn’t really seem to have the magic needed. I rate this a 3/5. A solid wholesome story, some delightful characters, beautiful setting. many thanks to #netgalley #amandaJames #wishuponacornishmoon for the opportunity to read nd review this book.

Set in Cornwall over multiple time periods. In 1899 Mary as a young girl believes it is possible to find her true love simply by making a wish on a full moon in June and sending a message in a bottle from Magic Cove.
Years later in 1938 Mary convinces her granddaughter Lamorna to send a wish and a message in a bottle to find a sweetheart during June on the full moon.
In the present day Merrin is also tempted to make a wish during June on the full moon.
This was a magical romance about finding true love. It was about family relationships and friendships.
I loved the characters from the past and the present time and the way they interacted.

Wish Upon a Cornish Moon is a lovely, mystical novel by Amanda James set in a small town on the Cornish coastline. This story is a mix of legendary old wives tales, a magical cove where it is told a special message in a bottle thrown to sea at midnight during a June full moon will bring your own true love if you believe and are worthy, and people effected by these tales. Two such sisters, Lamorna and Mowenna Williams, find this to be true as the story unravels linking generations together.

This multigenerational tale stretches almost a century between the time Grandma Mary shares this tale with 15 year old Lamorna before World War II begins and the current time when Mowenna recounts the stories to Merrit Pascoe, a disillusioned single mother.

Once again, Ms. James has spun a magical tale of the unexplainable and the good fortune that can accompany it. Her lovely prose paints such perfect descriptions that the reader is transported to the moonlit cove and can almost feel the magic. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
