I enjoyed this book. It wasn't hard to get into, it was a quick read, and I liked the main characters. I'd read another book from this author in the future.

I received an advanced copy of Reasonable Adults by Robin Lefler from the publisher Kensington via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
What It’s About: After walking in on her ex-boyfriend hooking up with a client, Kate goes on a social media rampage resulting in her losing her job in addition to her almost fiancé. Desperate for a job and a reset, Kate takes a winter job working at Treetops an exclusive artists’ retreat in the wilds. But the retreat is not what it seems, the building is stuck in 1990’s, Kate’s office is a bunker, her boss is a jerk, and at night she stays in a freezing hut with her 70 pound Goldendoodle. And Kate has to turn this place into a profitable oasis? Things seem impossible, but it’s not all bad, there is the sexy, off-limits coworker…
What I Loved: The premise is quite good, I thought it was perfectly fine but there wasn’t a lot to write home about. I do always like a story of someone moving from the city to the country and making it.
What I Didn’t Like: The characters aren’t very developed and that made me not really care. I didn’t feel like I knew the characters, they were just kind of there. Also there is a scene that shows attempted rape and victim blaming and it just kind of wrecked the story for me.
Who Should Read It: People who like stories where people leave city for job in country.
Summary: A woman loses her job and takes a job saving an artist retreat in the Canadian wilderness.

Ever since hot Tub Time Machine I have wanted to revert back to the 80s... a stop in the 90s would be great too!
Blending nostalgia and current obligations and the lies we believe for a job that pays the bills. Reasonable Adults is about what happens when we make #mistakes and change the course of our lives. Even when we think we are in charge on our lives, fate happens.

I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I like Canadian based books because I’m Canadian and happen to live in Toronto, so I snapped this one right up. I was looking for a light, funny, rom com and this did the trick for me.
I liked it. It evolved and got better as you moved through it and the characters started to take on a life of their own. The plot was a bit back and forth, and all over at first but it worked itself out in the end.
I’d definitely pick up another book by this author and I think it was a great start to her writing career.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
The book follows Kate who after a glass of wine posts something that ends up with her losing her job. After her fall from grace, she ends up taking a job at Treetops, a place off the grid. It's a perfect reminder of the beauty that comes from a detour. I loved how the author tackled grieving the past and moving forward. Enjoyed it so much.

An interesting light read. I am not going to leave a spoiler but there was an incident that bothered me and the way it was handled. Other than that, it was an interesting escape read.
Many thanks to Kensington and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved the idea for the plot of this novel. But it didn't hold my attention very well.

*Great storytelling
*Little 🌶️ spicy romance- had to skip some paragraphs
*Wide array of characters with differing personalities
*Some humor
*Rollercoaster of a ride read
*Includes discussion questions- perfect for Book Clubs!

In debut author Robin Lefler's Reasonable Adults, a recently fired and newly single marketing professional, Kate, finds herself taking a position at a luxury resort in the Canadian wilderness only to discover that this job is going to be no walk in the park. The retreat, the Treetops, is severely outdated and is lacking in enough bookings to even keep it afloat. Can Kate turn things around at the Treetops, while also juggling passive aggressive bosses, a 70 pound Goldendoodle, and potential love?
Reasonable Adults is a novel with an exciting premise and atmospheric location, but unfortunately its storyline is disorganized and erratic. The book suffers from a bloated supporting character list that is nearly impossible to keep track of, while the main character and love interest are frankly, insufferable. Reasonable Adults, a book about a young woman finding her footing again after experiencing loss and humiliation on multiple fronts, is primed to center around soul-searching and personal growth, but unfortunately, Lefler took this novel down a more plot-driven path, throwing a series of hijinks and antics at readers without anything to ground them. I personally could not connect to this story or its characters, making this a rather dull and insipid read for me.

I wanted to love this book so much, but it honestly just fell flat to me. I did read it all - and I liked it, but I don’t know if I’d recommend it to others.

This was an amazing rom-com that featured a great set of characters. Kate became my favorite. She was portrayed as a woman doing a passionless job and undergoes a major character development. Matt Reid was also a walking green flag.
There were several other characters as well, who made this story interesting. Kate trying to fix the Treetops Creative Retreat was also something that I loved reading.
Overall, this book had everything to satiate the romance reader in me.

REASONABLE ADULTS by Robin Lefler tells the story of a thirtysomething woman who, after being ousted from her job in marketing, takes a mysterious, too good to be true job offer in a remote resort. The premise was incredibly appealing and I was so excited to receive this ARC!
Sadly, I ended up DNF-ing this novel, after I really struggled to connect to the characters and the plot. I also took issue with the handling of a very sensitive topic - trigger alert of sexual assault - and how the author seemingly glossed over this in a weird, almost victim blaming kind of way. At this point, I realized this wasn't the book for me. Giving 3 stars as I don't want to leave a needlessly bad review, and others may enjoy this story more than I did.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books, Kensington for this ARC, which I received in exchange for my honest review.

Kate is a marketing executive, single woman, in her 30s that recently lost her job and her lying fiancé. She receives an offer for a seasonal job at an artist retreat. Of course, the job is too good to be true. She encounters a resort that's stuck in the 90s and not willing to make any changes. She is also her boss's main target to pick on and use as an example of what not to do. She contemplates quitting or actually sticking it out and see what she can achieve.
I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read many books were the female mc is working on her career and bettering herself. I liked seeing Kate fight back and try to make a difference. I enjoyed the cast of employees at the resort. Only thing I wasn't feeling was the romance. I think the book would've been strong without Matt, to be honest. Overall, it was a fun book and I will look forward to reading more by the author.

Congratulations to @robin_she_writes on your debut novel, Reasonable Adults. I was given a copy by @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks to review and this was a fun book to get into.
After an angry, wine fueled social media post costs Kate her job, and her dignity she needs a new one fast. A too good to be true opportunity to be the new Marketing Manager for Treetops resort in the Canadian wilderness seems like a miracle. But she quickly learns this miracle had more then a few rough edges, even if it does come with one very handsome co-worker. It doesn’t matter because staff relationships, as well as any 21st century technology and ideas are off limits.
This was a fast paced read with a setting that makes you want to book a room so you can experience Treetops and it’s stunning scenery as well. The staff at Treetops was such a fun well written band of side characters I would read an entire book about any of them, or all of them again.

this had so much potential and some parts were super cute — eric, anyone?? but more than anything, i was just bored. there were sooooo many characters introduced and i had a hard time keeping track of them all. on top of that, the romance fell flat. there was zero emotional connection between kate and matt. it was all physical and i got tired of the constant comments about how hot he was. towards the end, i bumped up the narration to 3x just so i could finish it.
thanks to the publisher for an advanced copy. my thoughts are my own.

Even though I have listed trigger warnings, they are not a big part of the story or the plot. Somehow RL somehow still manages to keep the story light.
Kate feels like a failure after her drunken poor choices. She was OK at her job but she never put her all into it until she found Treetops Creative Retreat thanks to her BFF, Ros sending and ad her way. And once again she did stuff while she was drunk. (No she is not an alcoholic. She just drinks too much on those few truly bad days) She ended up applying for this job that she didn't think she was actually qualified for. This place is where she truly tries her hardest to get the work right for a change.
The dialogue has some great snark and sarcasm. I love that in a romcom! The story has 2 potential love interests that kept me guessing for a bit. Then we needed to see how she was going to screw up this job now. Does she get it right? Which guy does she get? Can she keep him? And then there are the 2 doggies that everyone loves. I loved them too!

Lovely, lovely book, I love it super cute and cozy!
Highly recommended 💕
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the copy

It is a good story in comparison to other romance books I've read. the setting is in Canada during the winter season which appealed to me straight away. There are a lot of people introduced in this book and it can take quite some time to see how that all works together. I did miss some more character development and their was too much focus on some small parts. If you need to read something simple and easy this is a book for you.

reasonable adults that are written like misbehaving children. not certain if this story just fell short in the character development department, but it was not one i'd read again.
