This was sweet with a cozy feel to it. I liked the setting of Canada as a different place than the typical New York or small US town you typically see in books lately. I also enjoyed the closed door/fade to black romance that was well suited to the story. If you like heartfelt stories about women learning where they belong amidst a constellation of choices, this is a great one to pick up!

This romcom hit all the feels!
Workaholic Kate doesn't have much of a life tbh, or much of a job either. I've that this story is really about finding yourself & your passion (or your "output"). Kate definitely finds more than she bargains for... and everything she needs.
Of course, Matt is a big part of that (and I think he finds himself too). The snow! ❄️ But the found family of coworkers is what is really the best part of this story. They are, in fact, the best Christmas gift. A scarf that is crafted to remind you of the woods you love. Or maybe a hand-drawn work of art?
Not to mention, we all deserve a happily ever after. And a gdendoodle named Eric.

***Thank you to Robin Lefler, Kensington Books and Netgalley for the copy. Opinions are my own***
Rating: 3.5/5
Kate Rigsby set her life on fire over a social media post. She uses this newfound time to get a temporary new job working at an off the grid, creative retreat, in the middle of the woods. She has everything stacked against her, set up for failure but Kate shows her worth and begins to make revenue for the business. Kate begins to think this job might just feel like home, and she meets a guy she maaay have feelings for - Matt. However, dating coworkers is against policy so they decide to wait until Kate's contract is over - nine weeks. But when shite hits the fan and Kate is fired abruptly, everything changes. Kate realizes how much Treetops (the retreat) and her coworkers really meant to her and she'll somewhat fight to get that happiness back.
This was such a cute quick read for me. Kate is very relatable, and I felt myself rooting for herself the entire time. Eric the dog was a great addition to the plot. Matt was kind of a blasé character, but I think it worked with the storyline. Definitely will recommend this to my book club.

Reasonable Adults by Robin Lefler is the story of Kate, a girl after my own heart, who drinks an entire bottle of wine on her own, absolutely blasts her terrible ex on social media, and as a result loses her job.
To move forward she lands a job working at a remote resort. An unreasonable boss, a love interest, and a pup named Eric grace the cast of characters.
I liked Kate because I could see a lot of myself in her. Quirky, into wine, strong friendships, thirties, dog owner, and not quite sure which direction life is taking her.
Matt on the other hand was sort of a "meh" love interest. Kate had all of the personality between the two of them. Also! I understand the need for conflict, but he lost me the moment he stormed out of Kate's place angry AT HER after she was sexually assaulted. There was no redemption for him after that. Also, apparently being a complete idiot runs in the family because his dad is no better.
That bring said, other characters were delightful and the story moved quickly for me. It was cozy, cute, and enjoyable.

When passionless Kate goes through a breakup and a job loss, she stumbles upon a short term opportunity to work for an isolated retreat center for creative rejuvenation. However, after Kate arrives, it seems like she has been set up for failure as she is asked to turn things around for the retreat center on a zero dollar budget. After much struggling, Kate eventually makes some headway and realizes she may have found her calling after all..

Felt a little rushed at the end, and it wasn’t clear if the big reveal was supposed to be a surprise (seemed very obvious to me).

Absolutely fantastic plot! Could not put the book down once I began reading it. Cannot wait for it to be released. Will recommend it to everyone I know!

Reasonable adult is a heart-warming and perfect winter read. The setting and descriptions are amazing and you get absorbed straight into this love story. This is a slightly slow read but overall I loved the found family trope and seeing the the characters slowly fall in love.

Kate Rigsby is a 31 year old woman who has had major upheavals in her life. After loosing her job, and becoming single in a short amount of time, Kate and her dog pal Eric embark on a new journey in Ontario, where Kate begins a new job at an 'artist's retreat'. Think of a bougie winter camp for adults. However, when she arrives, things are not as it seems and she begins to struggle to keep her head above water.
I loved this book! Full of scenery, friendships, humour, self-discovery and slow burn romance, this book has been a highlight read for me this year. Although the first quarter of the book seemed to drag on, I felt it picked up pace once the setting changed to Ontario. The heart of book got me and from there I devoured it.
The characters were extremely likeable (and unlikeable in some cases) and I was happy we got to see deep character development throughout the book. I felt like each and every one of the characters were important and they had just as much merit as the protagonist. Normally, I find it hard to juggle depth of multiple characters, but for this book it just worked. I also loved the personality Eric, Kate's dog, had. He was a needed addition to the plot!
This is definitely one of my favourite reads of the year so far and it snuck up on me quite quickly.
I highly recommend!

This book was the warmest of hugs set in a frozen, Canadian winter. It’s not just a love story. There’s so much depth and humor. Particularly with Kate. This is a story of how sometimes life doesn’t go as planned in the best possible way. I truly enjoyed it!

After Kate finds her boyfriend helping one of his clients "destress," she drunkenly takes to the internet to tell the world. Unfortunately, the law firm where he works is one of the top clients at HER job, so now she's sans boyfriend AND gainful employment.
She finds the perfect distraction at Treetops Creative, a resort location where artists can go to hone their output. If only she'd read the fine print of her contract...
Now she has to find a way to magically increase the number of guests during the most difficult months to book business while dealing with the zany cast of characters who work at the resort PLUS the devilishly handsome co-worker Matt who she's not supposed to fraternize with.
Reasonable Adults was hilarious. I lost count of how many times I cackled reading this book. Kate's sense of humor and the situations she found herself in were comedy gold.
The other employees at the resort were a real treat. They all brought something unique to the story, and it felt like they truly cared about each other. Yes, even Kevin (you'll understand once you read it!).
Kate and Matt's romance was the perfect degree of slow burn. He was romantic and put her wants and concerns first. The scene where they watch the meteor shower will make you swoon!
Matt's near perfection is why his reaction to Kate's ex bothered me so much. It seemed out or character. If Kate had just told him what went down with her ex and about her post online, he would have understand. It didn't make sense why she kept it a secret or why she didn't just delete it once she realized what she'd done. This was the only part of the book I wasn't a huge fan of.
Even with this little blip, I still highly recommend Reasonable Adults. It's cute, steamy, and will make your heart smile!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Reasonable Adults is the perfect winter romcom. I found the heroine to have some relatable qualities and I really enjoyed the budding romance that neither characters thought would ever take place. My only issue is that there were quite a few characters and I had a hard time remembering everyone.

Thank you to Netgalley and to the authors and Publishers for the Ebook.
I enjoyed this book a great deal. I loved the setting it made it all the more special to me. I loved the voice that the main character possessed, she was sassy and very unique as a character. If you are looking for a found family and romance combined here it is! BTW there's a doggo and is in fact very good doggo. 3.9 Stars for me! Go and get it you'll have a good time with our girl Kate and her doggo, oh and the love interest too, but mostly doggo. ;)

This started off really strong for me, but lost steam about halfway through. I found it difficult to connect with the characters simply because they didn't seem to have any real chemistry; the romance felt forced/contrived.

This was a great, quick romantic read. I loved the setting and wanted nothing more than to go for a visit at the Treetops. There were a couple small details that seemed a bit far-fetched, but I really enjoyed how it all wrapped up at the end.
