My family hails from a famous blue zone (Loma Linda), so I have always been interested in how regional habits can influence longevity. This book provides interesting perspective.

This was just a stub and not the book. Formatting was painful. Images unclear. While the parts that were readable were intriguing, this galley obviously needs to be corrected/fixed in order for real reviews to be done. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Blue Zones, and while the premise is simple (people living in particular areas happen to have habits which may contribute to their longevity), that wasn’t readily supported by the content included in this version.

The Blue Zones had interested me for years. I’ve read one of Dan Buettner’s previous books and feel it’s an interesting topic to learn from. Knowing that these Blue Zones have similarities in their lifestyles is intriguing. Who wouldn’t want to live healthy like these centenarians?

This newest Blue Zones book published the end of August 2023. There’s also a Netflix series about it that goes along with the book for those who aren’t into reading. Regardless it’s a great source of information for healthy living.

I’ve noticed in this sample there’s a list of great ingredients to have on hand and tips for getting some sun for Vitamin D. So many people these days are stuck in offices or in their air conditioned homes or cars and not out in the sun. 15 minutes of sun daily is all we need, preferably on ourarms and legs. Most of us don’t even get that! And I live in Hawaii where it’s sunny most of the day!

Diet plays a huge role, but so does interacting with other people, like in clubs or church or with friends and family. The social aspect of our time is good for calming our soul and helping us to care for others. It could be as simple as getting together for an hour to just talk or sing or have coffee.

Having a purpose in this life is also encouraged. Have something to work towards to be needed in, a purpose. When we have a purpose, it gives us something to look forward to. That purpose will be different for each person, but we should all have a purpose.

I give this book 5 out of 5 tiaras! I highly encourage everyone to read this who wants to be healthy and live a long, productive life. This may have been just a sample, but I will be purchasing this book!

Sorry, I did miss the opportunity to download this sample; however, I had the opportunity to look it over at the bookstore, and I feel this is a valuable addition to books by Dan Buettner.

I was also fortunate enough to catch the documentaries on Netflex.

A sample of some of the best chapters in the book. It will definitely draw you into some serious decisions on exactly where and how you should spend your life to make the most of it.

Who doesn't want to live to 100?

I like the look at the different blue zones and what the people in each country do to live longer, healthier, and eat well. The timed tie in with the Netflix release is optimal and prompted me to add it to my list to watch when it releases next week.
Recommend.

THE BLUE ZONES SECRETS FOR LIVING LONGER by Dan Buettner offers "Lessons From the Healthiest Places on Earth" and NetGalley supplies a sample of the text. With National Geographic as the publisher, the pictures are beautiful, of course. There is also some necessary background about Blue Zones (Costa Rica, Okinawa, Sardinia, and others are listed in the Table of Contents). Blue Zones were introduced to me by our students who are intrigued by the potential for longevity. And Buettner does outline relatively "easy" (e.g., get more sun for Vitamin D), but not novel suggestions – there is a big push for eating more plant-based foods and less meat, for example. A supplemental text.

This book was a storehouse of knowledge in making healthy choices to ensure a long life and decrease your chances of suffering from common diseases. Great practical advice. A great resource book I will go back to again and again.

Interesting to see how other people in different counties eat to stay healthy. This is more than just a Google search on how to be healthy, these are stories about people that are living their lives differently and still thriving. I would recommend this to anyone looking to better their health through diet.

I’ve long been interested in the Blue Zones diet. The copy I received wasn’t complete (I didn’t realize that in advance), but what I read was compelling. I will likely purchase the complete title.

Maybe not so much a guide for living to me as interesting and fascinating research. Almost like a history book. This was laid out well, making it very easy to read. Will I change my daily lifestyle from reading this? One would be stupid not to gain as much knowledge as possible.

This sampler is a good glimpse into what to expect from this book. Filled with beautiful pictures and stories from travels to various places in the Blue Zones, we learn about their habits and what helps them live better, healthier lives so that we may too implement that in our lives.

Loved the sample of this book! It continues the themes that were presented in the Blue Zone Challenge by the same author. I will be purchasing!

This was an interesting book. I thought the information presented was well laid out and flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it and want to try and start implementing some of what I read.

An interesting excerpt, although a bit too short for providing a complete book review. That said, the excerpt was well-written with beautiful photos. I have read one of the author's previous "Blue Zones" books, and will most likely be purchasing this one as well.
