This was such a cute story to get absolutely lost in! Wow. It's a great romance but it also has really excellent character development and the story was well developed. Quick read
Thanks netgalley and the publisher for allowing to read this arc!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book.
I found this story very interesting. I thought that the switcheroo was executed very well and this is not something I have seen in the books I have previously read. I will definitely be rereading in the future.
I do like a story that set in another country this on is in Africa. and in an animal sanctuary.
This book was overall cute but I couldn’t get past the uncomfortable beginning of selfish Gem and the twins mom basically forcing Becca to do her twins dirty work. I did enjoy that this book had dual pov and some pretty funny banter and situations. I did enjoy reading the individual growth the charactesr had throughout the book.
I loved that this book is set in South Africa and it discussed the native wildlife. It was a bit cheesy at first but still very cute. You grow to love Gem by the end and I loved the breakthrough Becca has. Becca and Sully are adorable. But Ella steals the show with her potato. It was interesting learning more about South African culture and about how the wildlife sanctuary worked.
Perfect lighthearted romance to pick up whilst on holidays. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

|Synopsis|
Becca has spent her whole life in the shadow of her identical twin sister, Gem who has gotten herself in trouble with the public. To support her sister Becca agrees to travel to her home country, South Africa to complete one week of volunteer at a animal rescue centre and masquerade as her sister. Her mission is complicated as she has to work closely with the handsome yet distant vet, Dr Sullivan Scott.
"This wasn't a switch. This was The Parent Trap meets The Perfect Storm"
|Thoughts|
This was such a cosy read and I enjoyed getting to read a story set in South Africa. Along with the story highlighting some endangered and highly traffic animals in the region.
"Pangolins are the most trafficked animal in the world."
Although found the story enjoyable, initially found it a bit anxiety inducing as absolutely nothing seems to go well, but this does improve as the story continues.
"If she messed up and the truth go out, the hate Ge was already dealing with online would feel like a welcome-hoe ticker tape parade"
- Just a really bad idea all round then
Bonus points as the Vet has a friendly chocolate labrador companion that I adds some extra charm to the story. However, Becca does seem a bit gullible at times. Even when she acknowledges that a particularly person should not be trusted...she goes ahead and trusts them anyway, to her own demise.
"One day she'd learn not to trust a word that came out of...mouth"
There was also a nice collection of additional characters, although some, namely her mother does come across as a bit of controlling character. Rather than her mother and sister staying close by in the event something goes wrong, they decide to go on a luxury holiday.
"an all-expense paid trip to a yoga retreat in Thailand, a sweetener from one of Gem's sponsors"
- While Becca will struggle in the rouse without any support.
"And don't scowl, darling. You'll get premature wrinkles"
Sweet slow burn enemies to lovers romance that builds between Becca (pretending to be Gem) and the vet. And although certain aspects were a little predictable, it was still a great book to pick up whilst your on holidays.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a decent romcom book where twin A (Gem, a local South African reality star wrapped up in a scandal) needs to take a break from her responsibilities/ community service and go on vacation with their manipulative mom while twin B (Becca, a hotel concierge based in London) is the people-pleaser and does anything and everything for her twin - even flying to South Africa and impersonating her to help with the community service at an animal sanctuary.
Shenanigans ensue and instead of fixing everything, Becca causes more of a mess and gets caught in compromising positions with Sully, the attractive vet.
I wanted to like this more than I did. I liked the chemistry between Becca and Sully but I hated how Becca was manipulated to fix Gem’s colossal mistakes and try to do her community service while Gem goes on vacation. I liked the animals aspect and being set in South Africa had me doing more in-depth research about the country. Overall, the book is okay.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC. The Seven Day Switch is out now.
The language barrier really made this one a difficult read. There are a lot of pieces of South African dialect that I didn't understand or have reference to. This also starts in the middle of a story and never goes back to catch us up. Ultimately I did not end up finishing this one.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
Loved this fun romcom. Grumpy male main character. Steamy scenes that fade to black....a fun summer read that keeps you entertained until the last page. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC publication for an honest review.
This was a fun read! Identical twin sisters, Becca (hotel concierge), and Gem (celebrity) make a twin switch after Gem offends animal activists and her "punishment" is to do community service at a zoo. I enjoyed Becca and Sully (grumpy veterinarian) and their building relationship from "enemies" to more. I did not like the mother (or Gem much!) because their selfishness is what led to the whole switch and the aftermath. There is a redemption arc at the end, but still...
Sweet romance and a happily ever after!
4 stars
I had a hard time getting into this one, but I think it was because I was distracted…I ended up loving it! Reading about Becca’s interactions with Dr. Sully while pretending to be her twin, Gem, was great. I love a good story that involves animals, and I absolutely loved all of the dog and other animal references (Ella was my favorite!)!
I thought that the story was very well written, and the author did a great job of developing the plot and character personalities - I thoroughly enjoyed it, and look forward to reading more of her work!
I want to say a big thank you to the publisher over on Netgalley for giving me access to this book prior release.
This book is the first ever book I have read set in South Africa and I will just say, GIVE ME MORE!
Everything in this book felt just right, the author has managed to write such a cute and funny story; honestly give me more of Dr Scott, I want a guy like that myself....just don't tell my boyfriend.
There is a broad range of topics discussed and covered throughout the book, I especially liked reading about the different South African animals which I was not aware about and the terrible things many of them go through due to poachers; it was a real eye opener.
The general switch story was similar to other books and stories I've read before, although the reasons behind the switch are rather unique and make for a good storyline. However, I am still slightly confused about the pageants mentioned in the story and the traumatic affect on the main character from this; I think it doesn't necessarily fit in the story but does not ruin the experience of the book in a way.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reading about animals, rom-coms and anyone looking for a bring me out of a slump read. I think anyone who has read Ali Hazelwood books such as Love Hypothesis and Love on the Brain would enjoy this story, the book felt to be written in a similar way and that's something I really enjoyed; the writing style was exactly how I like it. Easy to follow but unique, I enjoyed seeing the news coverage and Instagram posts....oh and let's not forget the hashtags at the top of the chapters, they were great at giving little clues away of the coming chapter but did not spoil anything; in contrast, they kept me engaged and guessing at what will happen in the story next. I was able to guess 20% of the time, so I must be a terrible investigator.
I have my hopes up that this book is picked up by Illumicrate in the future, I would love a special edition of it on my shelf.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own."
There is nothing I love more then a well written rom com with a smart protagonist. That was a I thought until reading The Seven Day Switch, now there is nothing I love more then a rom con set in a animal rehab, co starring a potato toting dog.
This was a real fun read, I am not subscribed to the news letter so I don't miss this next one.
This charming enemies to lovers book was a delight to read. I really empathised with the MC and the whole story was just so heart-warming. There were points in the plot that really made me laugh out loud. A pleasure to read. Thank you NetGalley and to the publishers for an early review copy.
I really wanted to like this, but I think I’m really not the right audience!
I can see how so many would love this book, as it’s honestly very reminiscent of Parent Trap-esque themes. However, I just found this to be overall a really frustrating read. I didn’t really enjoy the overall conflict with the second female character—I think it’s just a little bit backward thinking to make her seem solely unlikable when books nowadays have a better way of exploring the more villainous characters.
Overall, it’s a pretty fun read but it’s not just for me. I found it just a little too dramatic and over the top at times.
Loved this book. It’s definitely different to most of the books I read. Love how beside the main characters, the book also focused on important topics such as animal safety as well as the harsh reality of the damage that social media can cause to someone. I absolutely love the main characters. Becca and Sully, both show so much commitment. Becca always offering her help for her family really resonates with me. It was fun reading about others cultures other than your own. I enjoyed how everything was described and explained. Definitely makes me want to take a trip to South Africa.
Becca stands in for her identical twin to help her out of trouble. She didn't expect to fall for someone while she was deceiving them, so what will happen when people find out the secret? A great read, looking forward to more books from this author.
This book was overall cute but I couldn’t get past the uncomfortable beginning of selfish Gem and the twins mom basically forcing Becca to do her twins dirty work. So the sister and mom could…relax on vacation. What? How is this ok?
The animal sanctuary antics were fun and the romance was cute. I just wish the reason Becca ended up there was nicer.
A great read! I loved the characters, the plot and the ending. The storyline and writing kept me engaged and I was always excited to pick it back up. Thank you NetGalley and Meg Chronis Books for and arc!
The Seven Day Switch is a book where everything goes wrong for the main character. Anything bad that can happen does happen. It’ll make you sympathize with the main character, cringe with her, and most of all, give you second hand embarrassment FOR her.
I enjoyed this book. Within just the first 20 pages I immediately hated the mom and thought the celebrity sister was whiny and incompetent. When I got to the end of the book I realized that not much had changed in this two characters in regards to character development (in other words there was none).
I thought Becca and Sully were cute and their encounters cheesy, but endearing. They were the least annoying out of all the characters.
Overall, I would have to say that the writing was a bit choppy. There wasn’t much transition in it all. Suddenly she was telling Sully she was her twin, suddenly she was back in London, suddenly her twin appeared at the camp. I felt like the last 50 pages were cramped with so much stuff, but also could have been written in 10 pages… However, I really did enjoy this book and it was a nice ode to The Parent Trap.
Thank you NetGalley and Megan Chronis for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
