This was a really different kind of a story. I mean it’s not every day you read about an aspiring lawyer hooking up with a porn star! Lol but it had depth and feelings and became a very involved and evolved tale of love. I love MS writing style. Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for review
I haven’t read anything by this author before, and I'll be following Mia Sheridan now. Romance is always very hit-or-miss for me, and I enjoyed the writing and the characters in “Stinger.” The book has some of my favorite tropes - like second chance romance. I wish the ending was more climactic.
I've had Archer's Voice on my TBR for a while and haven't picked it up. But now, after reading Stinger, I know that I need to read all of Mia Sheridan's books. I honestly don't know what has been holding me back. Her writing is beautiful. She knows how to write amazing characters and keep you engaged from the very first page.
“I really, really like how you make me feel – like if you looked at me every day, the way you’re looking at me right now, I could do anything, be anything, be more”
A lot of the time when you're reading a spicy book you don't get to see anything more than sex. With Carson and Grace, though, it was much more than that. The feelings, the intimacy, the passion.. gave us a much deeper look into their chemistry.
I had no idea if Carson and Grace would work because of their backgrounds. A porn star and a law student. I was rooting for them so bad and had a few emotional moments during their time apart. I wanted them to win, so bad.
Not to mention the character growth - from both Carson and Grace. Beautiful ending to a beautiful story.
Big thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the chance to review this book pre-release.
Give. Me. All. Of. Mia Sheridan's Books. I seriously can not get enough of this romance, it's so well done, and honestly is a not-so-guilty pleasure at this point.
A more formal review will be available on my IG/TikTok and Goodreads.
"Stinger" by Mia Sheridan is a second-chance standalone romance novel that tells the story of Grace Hamilton and Carson Stinger. Grace is a girl with a plan and always achieves her goals, while Carson works in the adult entertainment industry and doesn't care what others think of his choices. When unexpected circumstances bring them together in Las Vegas, they surrender to their chemistry and have a steamy weekend. However, they know their worlds could never coexist, and their time is limited. But as their hearts become involved, they realize they want more.
The book is well-written and engaging, with well-developed characters and a captivating plot. The chemistry between Grace and Carson is electric and palpable, and their journey to find love is emotional and heartwarming. The author skillfully explores the complexities of their relationship and how they navigate their different worlds and backgrounds. The book is steamy and sexy, but also has depth and heart. Overall, "Stinger" is a satisfying read for fans of romance novels, especially those who enjoy second-chance romances.
Mia Sheridan executes every single book she writes!!! Stinger did not fall short or disappoint in any way!!! I was instantly captivated and could not stop reading. Grace and Carson character development was beautifully executed as well. Thats all I want to say without giving away anything, just know that YOU got to read this one!!
I was a little apprehensive when I started reading this that it was going to be cheesy or long winded but once I got through about a quarter way this book flew by!!! Loved the second half of the book so much and reminded you to always follow your gut. This was very spicy but good!
Ok um wow, this book was a lot to take in, and it was So. Damn. Good. The romance arc and the individual character developments (over a period of years) and the final plot stuff were developed and executed so well. The blurb said this book was about two people whose weekend fling changed their lives forever and it wasn't kidding.
As always, Mia Sheridan 's writing and narration were perfect. While the relationship between the MCs was pretty fast burn (aka the weekend fling), the book was pretty slow-burn, with proper time taken to explore and explain every single plot decision, and it all really paid off at the end. I can't really say more because that'll spoil the second 50% of the book, but um, please go read this book 😭
TWs - sexual assault described in a graphic (no on page occurrences, but there are quite a few descriptions), human trafficking (particularly that of women and girls), front line war injuries, gun shots, assault, panic attacks, PTSD, anxiety, emotional cheating, death of a young sibling, estranged parent(s)
--- ty to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!
Stinger by Mia Sheridan was a great book! I really like Grace and Carson. Their character banter is amazing. This novel spans over a five year period, so there is a lot that happens while being full of twists and turns. Full of joy, tears, and some heartbreak, this story is not one to miss!
Uptight lawyer meets pornstar. And to make is even better it's set in Vegas. I wasn't a huge fan of Grace right away because she was so judgmental but in reality most people would be. A hot and steamy weekend later and the two part ways. I was so emotional and I feel like this book really shows right person wrong time. Five years that just makes me so sad to think of all the time lost. Overall I enjoyed this book even though I'm usually not a fan of "second-chance" romances. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher a copy of this book.
This was a fast read. The concept was fun, and the author did a good job balancing emotions and tenderness with steam and lust. I felt that way about her book Archer’s Voice—that story was so sweet and sexy. This book kind of has that same combination going for it.
::spoilers ahead::
The trouble is that the story loses its steam (no pun intended) about halfway thru when Carson chooses to leave the porn industry. For the first half of the book, his profession is the conflict, more or less. He leaves that profession, joins the armed services, and Part II is basically a whole new book. For me, that shift just flattened the tension, and the rest of the book sort of sagged along. I found myself scanning more and more after that shift, losing interest in our main characters over time.
I loved Archer’s Voice; I wouldn’t be opposed to trying another Mia Sheridan book in the future because I loved that book so much. But this book…it just didn’t have enough meat on the bone for me. I wanted higher stakes, a greater sense of conflict. I would have loved to have read a version of this story that, for whatever reason, made it harder for Carson to leave the industry, like maybe he felt he had a solid support systems there or maybe needed the money for more immediate reasons, like an investment or goal he was working towards. ::shrug::
Thanks to NetGaley for advanced copy for a honest review. This is my first time reading Mia Sheridan and I enjoyed reading Stinger. A fast fun read that I read in less than 24 hrs.
I pride myself on being able to predict how books and movies are going to play out. Boy was I wrong time and time again while reading this one. Each page brought an unexpected layer to the story, making this book stand out for me. Grace is described as the girl with a plan while Carson is the more carefree character but one weekend changes all of that for them. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the judgment on his early career choice, I know this is common. Overall I liked how both Carson and Grace grew up separately over time before realizing they should be together. The weekend was a huge catalyst in both of their lives. Sometimes it really is the right person, wrong time. The way Mia used this book to also shed light on a huge issue like human trafficking is admirable. I really hope there are some Carson's out there in this world trying to fight that battle just as passionately as he is alongside his team.

While I received an ARC of this book, my thoughts are all my own.
I enjoyed this, as I have with every one of the books I've read by Mia Sheridan. Was it my favourite? No, but I still devoured it.
I really loved the character of Carson, but had a hard time connecting with Grace. I found her judgements toward Carson and the industry he worked in a little too much. It was obvious that Carson was hiding who he truly was or wanted to be, and maybe that's because he didn't really know at the time either. I liked the relationship with his agent, who even though he had a contract she let him out of it because she could tell he didn't want to do what he was doing anymore. I can't lie I expected her to pitch a fit, but she didn't and I liked that.
It definitely feels like two different stories once you get to a specific part of the book, and I understand the reason for it, but it definitely felt like two books in one just with the same characters. I loved seeing Carson grow into a person that he was proud of because he deserved that.
All in all, Carson Stinger stole the show for me and I love him.
A fun, quick and steamy read! After catching feelings for sweet and sexy guy and knowing he works in the adult entertainment industry, Grace isn't willing to go any further without his job breaking her heart. After Carson's deployment ending and several years go by, Carson and Grace's paths cross in the most unexpected way. And it doesn't help Carson's case to start with Grace where they left off knowing that Grace is engaged to another man...
Thank you to Sourcebooks Bloom Books and NetGalley for the ARC.
I’ve read most of Mia Sheridan’s novels, and Stinger has to rank in the top three (after Kyland and Archer’s Voice). I loved the characters and plot, as well as the angst and yearning that Sheridan writes so well. If I have one quibble, it’s that she whitewashes Stinger’s adult film star background—he’s made only a small handful of movies when he meets Grace, whereas in “real life” this character would likely have had hundreds of lovers. I think Sheridan probably felt a hardcore porn background for her character would have turned readers off. However, I think it would have been a brave choice that would have enriched the story. Even so, Sheridan delivers a steamy and touching romance.
Mia Sheridan's Stinger is a heartwarming and emotional standalone novel that explores the unlikely romance between two people from vastly different worlds. Carson Stinger, a successful adult performer with a troubled past, meets Grace Hamilton, a law student, during a convention weekend in Vegas. Despite their initial reservations and differences, the two are drawn to each other in ways that they never expected.
What follows is a captivating and emotionally charged journey as Carson and Grace navigate the challenges of their pasts, their personal demons, and their feelings for each other. The chemistry between the two is palpable, both inside and outside the bedroom, and readers will find themselves rooting for their love to succeed.
Mia Sheridan has once again demonstrated her talent for crafting deeply affecting romances that tug at the heartstrings. Her writing is immersive and evocative, transporting readers into the world of her characters and making them invested in their stories. Stinger is a testament to this, and readers will find themselves swept away by the passion, heartbreak, and eventual triumphs of Carson and Grace.
In conclusion, Stinger is a must-read for fans of Mia Sheridan and anyone who loves a good, emotional romance. It is a beautifully written story of love, redemption, and the power of connection, and it will leave readers with a sense of hope and happiness that will linger long after the final page.
Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review.
I’ve loved every part of this book and it’s just insane how much I love everything Mia writes.
This is just a new version and I keep asking myself why I didn’t pick this up before.
Can it be considered a second-chance when the main characters have only known each other for a weekend? I think so.
This book made me emotional for no apparent reason. Maybe it’s because Miss Mia Sheridan made it realistic.
It was sweet and steamy and perfect.
I keep forgetting her stories are some of the best I’ve ever read. It’s obviously a 5⭐️
i loved this! the plot, the back story, the chemistry between them. it was great! i was actually sad when i finished it because i wanted more of their life. by far one of my favorite reads so far this year!
Grace, an uptight law student, and Carson, a male entertainer, spend one wild weekend together in Vegas. Even though it was supposed to just be a weekend of no-strings sex, they both catch feelings and reluctantly go their separate ways. They go 5 whole years living their lives but never fully forgetting the other, only to find themselves face-to-face in Vegas- again.
I didn’t realize this was a rerelease but I enjoyed it. Grace and Carson’s chemistry was off the charts and there was some excellent spice. Even though they spent such a short amount of time together, they both inspired each other to make changes in their personal lives that were for the better. Seeing them come back together after so many years apart really bought the story full circle- such a good read!
