Reading "Milk & Mocha Comics Collection: Our Little Happiness" by Melani Sie, I was instantly captivated by the heartwarming stories and adorable art style. The comics follow the daily lives of two bears, Milk and Mocha, and their pet dino, Matcha. The contrasting personalities of the two bears only serve to make their interactions even more endearing.
Reading through the comics, I couldn't help but find myself smiling or giggling at the sweet and simple moments they shared. The limited text and charming illustrations made it an easy and relaxing read, perfect for a cozy afternoon. What stood out to me the most was the exploration of different perspectives on happiness, as each character had their unique way of experiencing and sharing joy.
I also appreciated the relatability of the characters, as I could see aspects of my relationships reflected in the bears' dynamic. The wholesome, uplifting nature of the comics left me feeling warm and fuzzy, making it a perfect addition to my collection.
Milk and Mocha (and their tiny dinosaur Matcha) are just absolutely adorable. I loved this little collection of comics, following Milk and Mocha through their daily lives. If you like Hello Kitty/Sanrio type characters, you'll love this book. Also Mocha, the little brown bear, is mute, so there's even some disability rep.
A heartwarming and humorous collection of comics from Melani Sie. It was easy to fall in love with Milk, Mocha, and especially tiny Matcha as we got vignettes of their day-to-day life. The art style was adorable while also strong enough to convey emotion and story without text. Overall, a delightful little comic collection.
Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for early access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
You might have seen Milk and Mocha gif’s floating around the internet but not realised who they were before. That was my introduction to these two bears. When I found out on Twitter that they were a webcomic I was 1) happy to find out how to find more of these two cute bears and 2) interested to see what they do in the webcomics. This book is a collection of some of their comics.
The art style in here is very simple, but gorgeous. The artwork is the main conveyor of meaning, as words are limited in their use throughout. I personally like this style as I find the artwork conveys the message well enough, and majority of the time I find that words can take away from the comic.
Love this collection of comics, I cannot wait to see more comics involving these two bears (and Matcha).
If you've ever looked at the Milk & Mocha emojis/stickers and thought "Why isn't there a comic about these two adorable bears?" this book is fulfillment of that. A collection of very adorable single-page comics staring the title characters (and their tiny dinosaur sidekick), this is sure to delight fans of the property.
Are the comics the funniest or the deepest? No. But do they need to be? Also no. This collection is exclusively an exercise in cuteness, so if you're looking for more of a story, this may not be for you. But for anyone who's already a fan of the art, especially if they already own tie-in products, this will be a wonderful addition to their collections.
I had an eARC from NetGalley, but I believe the physical book will include stickers, which seems like the perfect touch for a book like this.
This is a decent length collection of unconnected comics about two bears in love. Each story is either a single page or maybe spans a few, but they are short. As someone in a happy relationship, this was also super relatable. I connected with the different scenarios in both cute and funny ways. The illustrations are super cute and overall this book was adorable! I'm not sure that I would go out and spend money on it, as it doesn't offer much substance, but it was nice and enjoyable all the same.
These comics are adorable. Milk and Mocha are little bears that live together and share their lives. They also now have Mathca a little dino that is sometimes a little bitey. The comics chonicle their adventures together and love for each other.
I really enjoyed this collection. The illustration is super cute and cutesy and the little bears are super relatable. I was laughing and smiling the whole time I was reading. I also had to share a few scenes with my husband because I just felt like it was 'us'.
If you share your life with someone, this book is a mirror at times and I love that. I never read the original webcomic but I am certainly going to go find it now and read it. This book brought me so much joy and love and happiness to read. I can't wait to share it with others.
Review will be live on the blog closer to release date.
This was a really cute collection of comic books short stories to make one big one it was very cute I really liked it. It was the cosy cheer up I needed after a stressful day
These comics were so cute! The art was adorable but the jokes needed some work. It was hard to follow along at times. It was also extremely short for the price point. Perhaps fans of the artist will love it, but for the casual reader it didn't really cut it.
This was the sweetest collection of comics. I read it with my 7 year old and she was so enthralled with the cute little relationship between Milk and Mocha. Whether you are a 7 year old that loves comics and tiny animals or a 30-something year old that needs a small escape from the heaviness of daily life, this collection can really deliver.
This is a really really adorable collection and I loved it so much! It's as comforting and wholesome as the Instagram comics I see and I cannot get enough of Milk and Mocha! I had so much fun with this one
”Milk & Mocha Comics Collection - Our Little Happiness” by Melani Sie is a heartwarming collection about the daily life of two bears and their dino pet. The theme of the stories centers around daily life happiness.
I did not know the author beforehand, but I do like once in a while, to read comics that are short and on point – all meant to make you smile or learn about love and connections to other people.
The limited to no text in the comics makes it a read that everyone should be able to enjoy. The pictures leave room for thinking and automatically make you slow down when reading. To me, this is a plus, because it's really relaxing. Just what I hope for from a read like this.
It was full of cute and heartwarming stories and I was a bit surprised to find myself giggling throughout the read, because of the different natures of the bears.
One is laidback, the other has a temper. They do things differently, and with a book that begins with an introduction that asks ”What is happiness to you?”, we see two different POVs of happiness.
What might be happiness to one, might not be to the other. I had comics where I agreed that ”Yes, this is what happiness looks like” while others I found myself giggling, because the other bear did something (that's happiness to him) but is something that the other bear was enduring, all out of love. That itself is also a shape of happiness.
The drawings are the cutest and the simple coloring is relaxing and a real treat for the eyes.
Growing up, I had a mocha pencil case. Seeing this familiar face on the cover drew me in. I mean how could you not, they are adorable. This was the perfect read when you are looking for something fun and light. A cute little love story. I loved this so much.
This is a super sweet little collection of slice of life moments. The art is adorable, and each story is told predominantly visually, with only the occasional text bubble - often the speech/thought bubbles are also full of images.
There is nothing ground breaking about this collection, but it made me smile abd was a nice break between some heavier books.
Because of the minimal text and cute situations, I think this would be appropriate for all ages, including kids just learning to read.
This was a very sweet, wholesome, and heartwarming collection of comics. I really enjoyed reading it and it lifted my spirits and made me smile. Hopefully it will do so for others as well! Milk and Mocha are so cute, and Matcha was such a sweet addition.

I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley to review and am doing so willingly.
This is a very cute collection of webcomics. I had to go follow them on instagram for more. If you love snacks and either taking snacks from your partner or having them taken from you, then this book will be quite relatable. My only minor feedback is that the last comic should be at the beginning for context.
Super cute, kawaii! Milk & Mocha live up to their web presence in this collection of their comics. This would make a really cute get well gift for someone who needs a pick me up but doesn't have the bandwidth to concentrate on heavy material or words. It would also be a fun addition to early readers or pre-reading repertoire of books where they can make up their own stories to go with the comics.
A short and sweet collection of comics featuring adorable art that managed to pull me out of a depressive episode for the week. While there's very little dialogue involved, it was really heartfelt and, at times, relatable.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a shot of serotonin straight into my veins, it's so cute! It's the story of Milk and Mocha and their dino pet Matcha and their daily lives.
"When I am with you, even silence feels comfortable".
This was both super adorable and heartwarming. A grumpy x sunshine trope? A hundred times yes! It brings me so much joy. It was sweet, relatable, and so enjoyable to read. I was grinning, giggling, and kicking my feet the entire time I was reading it. It has a simple art style, yet it's so meaningful. I truly want to give this book all the stars in the sky. Their relationship is so wonderful that I want what they have. I wish this book was longer because I want to learn more about my Milk, Mocha, and Matcha. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more works by the author.
"People said, "Make a wish when you see a shooting star", but I don't need to because you're my wish come true".
