Cute & cheesy Christmas story.
Thank you Net Galley & to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Kerry meets Patrick when she and her brother come to New York City for their annual sale of Christmas trees from their farm in North Carolina.
This was a sweet holiday story. However, it was a little slow paced. I enjoyed the New York City Christmas tree lot scenes and the people who formed a community in that corner of the city. The romance subplot was very low key. The relationship felt under developed. To me, this is more a book about a woman finding her next life chapter during the Christmas season. It made for a nice afternoon read. Thank you to the publisher for my e-copy of this book.
Perfectly Christmas and Hallmark. Mary Kay Andrews delivers again. I think it would have benefitted from an epilogue.
This is a cute holiday rom-com from an author who is always a hit for me. After her father becomes ill, Kerry has to go with her brother, Murphy, from their tree farm in NC to NYC to run their Christmas tree stand. While there, she gets to know the folks in the neighborhood, including a certain single dad who catches her romantic attention. The book’s setting in a wonderful neighborhood with heart and charm and a great cast of neighbors really sold me. 4.5 stars! Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced e-book copy of this book.
Such a wonderful book!
I highly recommend this and all others by this author!
This one will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit!
Cute holiday story with many feel-good moments. Loved reading this fictional tale about the Christmas tree farm that has sold trees in New York for years.
I really liked this. I received it a while ago, but wanted to save it for fall/winter since it's a winter story. I love Mary Kay Andrews' writing style and the way she created such relatable characters in this story was no exception. The story felt warm eventhough it was winter, covered in snow and pine trees. I had hoped for an epilogue at the end... a little bonus chapter, ten months later or so, to give a tiny bit more closure. But still a delightful read. Thanks Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A delightful Christmas story - a true Hallmark Christmas movie. The setting, the story, and the characters were all charming. MaryKay Andrews does it again!
This was the cutest holiday romance I have read in a while. This book follows Kerry as she gets roped into helping her brother run their Christmas tree lot in New York City . They have to live in an airstream trailer on the lot together. The two aren’t really close as their parents split up and they lived with their respective parent. Kerry unsure on how she is going to survive sleeping in the airstream with no working bathroom or kitchen. That is until she starts to find herself again and Patrick a recently divorced man with a young son.
This was such a cute engaging story that I could not put down. The characters were so well fleshed out that I really just wanted to know what happens next! I also really enjoyed this authors writing it was light easy to read but the humor and pacing had me flying through this book. I would say this is more of a lit fit/romance book so nothing to steamy on the romance side. This is the second book I have read by this author and enjoyed can’t wait to read more of this authors backlist. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.
This was a fun and cute read. Parts felt really drawn out, while others felt so fast. Overall it was a worthwhile read.
This was a very cute, fun Christmas read. I enjoyed the main character Kerry and all of the people she met in New York City while selling Christmas trees. It gave a perfect Christmas in NYC vibe. I do wish her brother. Murphy, and her romantic interest, Patrick, had been a bit more fleshed out since they were so central to the story. An issue I find with all of Andrews's books that I've read is the romance seems to come out of nowhere. It felt like a simple, easy friendship that was developing between Kerry and Patrick and then all of a sudden he's asking her to move to the city and by the end, tells her he loves her. I liked them and liked the relationship but it just felt a little unbelievable.
Overall, I really enjoyed this Hallmark-style book and could easily picture the tree stand in my head, but I did feel like the romance piece seemed rushed. I don't know if I read it while falling asleep or missed it entirely, but I feel like the start of it wasn't quite clear. We know that they found each other attractive, but it seemed like things got more serious without enough of an actual lead-up. I would still recommend though!

Thank you to @macmillan.audio for the listening copy + the publisher @stmartinspress for the netgalley widget. I listened to the audio narrated by Kathleen McInerney and was throughly entertained. I enjoyed Mary Kay Andrew’s Santa Suit book last year and was so glad she wrote another holiday book this year. She’s an author you can trust from start to finish with a great story and characters.
Bright Lights, Big Christmas is filled to the brim, with holiday charm. A Christmas tree lot in NYC, a vintage camper named “spammy”, a dog, a charming man and his son, and older mysterious gentleman in the neighborhood were the careful crafted ingredients in this tale. But honestly it’s so much more. I loved the message of taking care of people.
Every year Kerry Tolliver’s step brother and father are the ones to head to NYC from their North Carolina Christmas Tree farm to sell their familiy's Christmas trees. They have a special block and neighborhood in Greenwich village that they go back to every year. This year due to her father’s health she has to fill in. Kerry’s brother is kind of a bossy thing and she’s not content with his answers of doing things a certain way just because that’s how they have always done it. She adds her own flair and quickly is selling wreaths and trees at a rapid rate. Success is fun, but the people she meets in the neighborhood make it even better. In particular, is Patrick and his son Austin. Austin is a curious little boy and has Kerry using her art skills to draw a story book. This makes Kerry feel alive for once, she’s been casting aside her art for fear of failure. There is something about Christmas magic, though.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 Ok, was this a little cheesy? Yes! Did I still love it? Also yes. My only quibble is the brother was kind of a jerk and very overly macho. Also, the pacing felt somewhat off. Slow first half and much faster second half. All in all I enjoyed this one! Pick this one up for a book brimming with holiday cheer!
This one left me wanting more, but it was a cute Christmas story! I actually liked it more than the santa suit, and will definitely recommend it to patrons.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a Mary Kay Andrews book. They are always a solid Christmas book. Kerry heads to the big city of New York with her brother Murphy to set up their family Christmas tree farm. Kerry is used to her life in North Carolina and this trip changes her life. This book is full of Christmas vibes, a great cast of characters and of course love. I’m already looking forward to next years book.
Huge thank you #macmillanaudio and #StMartinsPress and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review
So many Christmas books fall flat, I was so glad to read this winner of a novel! I love found family tropes, and this was heartwarming without being too cloying!
This book was sweet and charming. I wanted something light and Christmas-y this time of year, and this fit the bill. I liked Kerry as a character, but some of the other characters annoyed me at times. It also somehow felt long for a book that was less than 300 pages. That said, it was still a nice read, and I'm glad I read it.
This book was adorable. I say it every time but MKA does not disappoint. I read over 10 different Christmas books this year and this one was hands down my favorite. A girl selling Christmas trees in NYC, a single dad, and a lot of Christmas cheer. If you pick any book to read this December, chose this one!
Swoooon. I’ve read and enjoyed many of Mary Kay Andrews Christmas books and I’ve loved them all. Big Lights, Big Christmas doesn’t fall short of that mark. It’s the perfect book to cuddle up with this holiday season. Kerry Tolliver and her brother, Murphy pair up and head to Greenwich Village with their vintage camper, Spammy in tow to save their family Christmas tree farm. Normally, this annual trip into the city to sell Christmas trees is completed by her father and Murphy, but since her dad is ill, the siblings must work together to save the business. They’re met by a supportive and generous community of people that provide them with food, laundry, showers and even the restroom since their camper doesn’t have a working kitchen or bathroom. This novel is packed full of deep characters and beautiful relationships. I particularly loved the friendship between Kerry, Heinz and Austin. Big Lights, Big Christmas is a story of family, friendship, love, loss, and the deeper meaning of Christmas. It’s a big warm hug.
Many thanks to Mary Kay Andrews, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I just loved the setting if this one! Even though it’s a Hallmark movie, the setting was fun and unique. The character development throughout this one was fantastic. I enjoyed each character and learning more about them throughout the book. The romance was “off” in this one though- it was very fast tracked and completely unbelievable. This was a very cheery, feel good book though and definitely full of Christmas fun!
