This book is part of the Riverbend series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. Charlotte has been trying to run the horse ranch that has been in her family for three generations thinking an expansion will put the business in the black but having to deal with the other half owner who is her sister Emerson had wanted to sell the ranch and move out of Riverbend, Charlotte is also dealing with the news of finest who her biological father is and secretly wishing for a relationship with her two half brothers who don't even know that she exists,
Gunner comes to Riverbend to work at Wildflower Falls Ranch, and he moves from job to job, never putting down roots. The young owner of the ranch is a pleasant surprise, but he doesn't want to get close because he is planning on leaving for a new job in six months. Will he be able to ignore what his heart is trying to tell him? I've read all of the books in this series and enjoyed them.
This is Book 4 of the Riverbend Romance series. The first two were a lot of fun to read, the third one was a bit dark and hard to get through. This one had its ups and downs. What Denise Hunter got right when she discussed the Appalachian Trail culture is the way trail names are handed out. I also appreciated the way she brought in the horse culture and wove it into the story seamlessly.
Both Charlotte and Gunner have past hurts that need to be worked through and though they did, it wasn't the most healthy way. It did work for the story, and I guess that's all the author wants. I love the way Jeff, the step-father to Gavin and Cooper, settles situations with his two pennies on the table. He lets you know that he has thoughts about your conundrum, but it's up to you to decide that you want to hear his thoughts. He won't push them on you, but lets you know he's got his two cents worth to inject into the circumstances. If only more adults took that perspective and used that method, a lot less hurt would be hurled around.
I enjoyed reading the book. The pacing of the plot kept me engaged, and the characters were believable as well as likable.
Four Stars.
Thomas Nelson provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
I didn't realize there would be any additional books in this series, so I was thrilled when I discovered Wildflower Falls. If you're a fan of wholesome, heartwarming stories, then you'll want to add this one to your fall to-be-read pile. Gunner is a swoon-worthy hero with an intriguing backstory who takes a job working for Charlotte on her ranch. Charlotte has discovered a surprise when she's sorting through her late mother's possessions. As she struggles to expand her business and solve the mystery of her biological father's identity, the romance between her and Gunner develops.
Denise Hunter is the master of crafting a page-turning slow-burn story. I really enjoyed reading Wildflower Falls, although Charlotte was not my most favorite heroine. All the books in this series are super enjoyable. You can read this as a standalone but you might want to catch up on the other three novels first. I highly recommend this charming, emotional story set in a beautiful North Carolina community.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the complimentary copy. All opinions shared here are my own.
I loved returning to Riverbend Gap for the story of Charlotte Simpson whose mother dies and her safe deposit box includes clues to the identity of Charlotte's biological father! Charlotte wants to make a success of the horse ranch that she and her step-sister have inherited but Emerson is not interested in the ranch. One of my favorite scenes was when her newly hired horse trainer, Gunner, catches her looking at a carpenter through her binoculars. What Gunner doesn't know is that Charlotte thinks the carpenter may be her brother and is trying to see if they look alike! Gunner and Charlotte both have childhood experiences to overcome but need to learn to trust. I recommend this romantic story by Denise Hunter to others. I received a complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Wildflower Falls by Denise Hunter is a sweet romance with well developed characters and a nice family centered storyline. Riverbend Gap, a small town in North Carolina, is the perfect setting for not only this story, but the entire series.
I really liked Charlotte and Gunner and how their relationship slowly developed. There were no big misunderstandings, just them getting to know each other. That being said, I would’ve liked the story to focus a little bit more on their romance. Gunner’s history really made you understand him and his choice to protect himself by living a solitary lifestyle. I loved how him falling for Charlotte helped him see why his choice to live this way may not have been the correct one. I also loved reconnecting with the close-knit Robinson family.
While Wildflower Falls is the fourth book in the Riverbend series, I think you could easily read each story as a standalone, but as usual, it’s better to read them all to get to know the entire family. Wildflower Falls is, by far, my favorite of the series as I had a couple of issues with two of the other stories. That being said, I’m looking forward to whatever Denise Hunter writes next!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. This is a clean read. 4 stars.
This is one of those stories that is completely relatable, whether with the main characters or one of the sub characters but either way I felt like someone will connect with one or all. I loved Jeff what and amazing man, he didn't have a lot to say but when he spoke everyone listened because it was something you needed to hear. I felt with Charlotte and even a little bit with Emerson they had away of taking what life dealt and putting a positive spin on it. They Bothe faced so much and yet they worked hard to leave their town in a better place. I felt so much for Gunner he loved so deeply and lost so much that the way the story played out was not a surprise but so emotional. Overall I really enjoyed this book with some tough subject that were talked about the author did an amazing job of balancing laughter in there as well. The author did keep this a clean read so it would be suitable for all.
"Caring about people only to lose them wasn't high on his list of priorities"
With a female lead, handsome horse trainer, family secrets, love triangle and a small town community, this story reminded me of the tv series, Heartland. If you enjoy that series, you may enjoy this newest release by Denise Hunter. It is the fourth in a series but could certainly be read as a standalone.
Even though it does have light romance elements and one character's struggle with the courage to love, I most enjoyed the family dynamics as they deal with adoption and the search for a biological parent as well as the ranch setting.
I listened to portions of the audiobook as well and it was a bit difficult to distinguish between the characters voices but the reader's voice was pleasant to listen to.
Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read it.
Wonderful
This book was a wonderful addition to the Riverbend series. When Charlotte’s mother died, Charlotte discovered an envelope containing some information about her biological father, so she sets out to figure out who he was. With her Mom gone and responsibilities weighing heavily on her, she needs a family and people around who will support her.
Gunner comes into Riverbend to take a temporary job training horses at Charlotte’s farm. Being employee and employer they both resist an attraction but become friends. I enjoyed their slow burn romance, but I especially enjoyed all the Robinson’s and the way they welcomed Charlotte as a friend before anything else was known.
I hope there are more books to come in this series! Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Riverbend Gap Romance!!
Gunner is coming into town for an interview to be the trainer at Wildflower Falls - for six months. Charlotte is ready to expand the offerings at the stables with a new barn being built and a new trainer. With the death of her mother she has discovered a startling fact about her heritage. Charlotte’s sister Emerson has no desire to keep the stables, creating friction.
A story of horses, relationships and family at the edge of the Appalachian Trail. My first read from this author - and I really enjoyed it.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 stars.
Received for review: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Denise Hunter is one of my favorite authors in the inspirational/Christian romantic fiction genre. She has such a great writing style and always crafts intriguing characters. I haven't read the prior three in this series, but I have read a lot of her books.
There were definitely some brilliant one-liners throughout. Gunner and Charlotte were also well crafted. This isn't my favorite Denise Hunter book, but I have a high bar because I go in with high expectations.
If you like small-town sweet romances or horses, definitely give this one a go. It's well worth the read and is an engaging story that kept my interest the whole time.
Love,
Danica Page
Charlotte Simpson never knew who her biological father was. She loved the parent she grew up with, but always was plagued by the unknown. When her mother passed, she left some clues for Charlotte that could possibly lead her to her father. But it wasn't as easy as she thought when she began to realize that friends may be more than friends. Meanwhile she's trying to get the horse farm left to her by her mother up and running including a new hand, Gunner Dawson, who becomes a lifesaver for Charlotte; but will he become more than a ranch hand?
Very enjoyable contemporary romance that focuses on two adults who are both dealing with past events that have changed their lives. The relationship between Charlotte, Gunner, and her best friends was all developed beautifully as both Charlotte and Gunner dealt with past problems and their growing relationship.
** I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions are mine alone. I was not compensated for this review.
This is a heartwarming story that hooks you on the first page. It has wonderful characters, beautiful scenery and is full of emotions. I loved reading this book! It deserves more than 5 stars!
I received a complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson--FICTION via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
It's book four in the Riverbend series! I've been reading this series since the beginning and I love it. I would recommend reading this series in order. Backstory is so important with this one. But, I think it could stand alone, you just won't have as much depth of understanding with all the characters.
It was so good to be in this small town again, with this community and this family. I loved having all the characters I've come to know and enjoy around and involved in this story too. Charlotte is such a great character. She is so well rounded and hard working. She cares on a deep level and I loved her. Gunner has some heavy childhood trauma to deal with which we don't get the details about until pretty far into the story. The characters all felt authentic and real, dealing with the bumps in the road the best they can. And such a pretty setting, too.
The overall story is gentle in nature, flowing steady and sweet. I loved it.
Content: kissing. Loss of parents. Search for biological parent.
Wildflower Falls is the fourth installment in Denise Hunter’s Riverbend series. This story indirectly involves the Robinson family as it focuses on Charlotte Simpson. When Charlotte’s mother unexpectedly passes due to an aneurysm, the horse farm that had been in the Simpson family for three generations is left to Charlotte and her step-sister Emerson. However, Emerson is not of the same mind regarding the farm as Charlotte and would sell right away. But Charlotte solemnly promised her Mother that she would keep the farm in the family and is determined to do so,
Without much discussion, Charlotte uses the life insurance money to build a new barn and expand the business to include horse training, boarding, and trail rides. With this goal in mind, Charlotte hires horse whisperer Gunner Dawson, who will spend over six months at the farm until he moves on to the next job, a highly coveted position training race horses.
As this is occurring, Charlotte is also dealing with an envelope found in her mother’s safe deposit box indicating clues as to who her birth father actually was. It is a burning desire for Charlotte to uncover this information and discover family ties so she won’t feel so alone in the world. When Gunner comes upon her with the information Charlotte confesses and Gunner moves in to help. But will the answers serve to help or hinder Charlotte, Gunner, Emerson, or the ranch?
This is such a good story of family, connections, and finding an unimagined future. I very much enjoyed this book, as I have the series, and do recommend it!
I love the Robinson family and was so happy there was another book in this series. Charlotte has a lot on her plate. I really feel for her during this story for so many reasons. Gunner was such a great guy with some baggage he was carrying around. Together these two were amazing. I loved how they helped each other and how the wonderful people of Riverbend Gap supported and loved them.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through Netgalley and this is my honest review.
Denise Hunter has concluded her Riverbend Romance series with a resounding success in Wildflower Falls. I don’t think Hunter has ever delivered a disappointing book, and this latest novel is testament to her stellar storytelling ability. This romance between Charlotte and Gunner was fast-paced with complicated family dynamics, personal struggles for healing and belonging, and plenty of layers to add depth to this fantastic story. A true delight to read and genuinely heartwarming, this book contains all the elements of a sweet contemporary romance. I recommend each and every one of the books in this series!
I received this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
I’ve enjoyed the Riverbend Gap series and was happy that Hunter added a fourth novel. I liked the heroine, Charlotte Simpson, so much. She was such a good person who had a ton of love in her heart. The hero, Gunner Dawson, was an interesting character who kept his heart guarded. I liked him but he was harder to warm up to. He was marked by tragedy, and seeing his heart change was one of the nicest parts of the story. And, as a bonus, I was able to catch up with the Robinson clan. There is a fantastic redemption thread that offers a nice conclusion to the series. Hunter delivers again with Wildflower Falls. I appreciate receiving an advance copy from Thomas Nelson and did purchase the paperback for my Denise Hunter Collection.
Wildflower Falls by Denise Hunter ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the final book of the series, but reads well as a stand alone. Wildflower Falls is a sweet clean romance. That you are sure to love as I did.
Charlotte and Emerson lose their mother and inherited a horse ranch, that has been in the family for several generations. Emerson wants to sell, but Charlotte wants to keep. Charlotte hopes to build up the ranch and change Emerson mind. Charlotte hires a horse trainer and starts to fall for him.
Pick up your copy today to find out if they save the ranch and if Charlotte has a happy ending. It releases Sept 12th.
I received an advanced copy of this novel for my honest review.
Wildflower Falls is the fourth book in the Riverbend series. While there will definitely be some spoilers from previous books and you might have a better understanding of the Robinson siblings if you've read those first, I do think this one would be able to be read as a standalone as well. That said, this is a great series and one I would absolutely recommend reading in it's entirety anyway!
The thing that I have loved most about this series is that they show us that love stories can be both messy AND beautiful. These stories tend to start in unusual and even painful ways... and yet, amidst that we are given beautiful love stories. Wildflower Falls was no exception. Right from the first pages, I was drawn into their story. (Seriously, this opening was just absolutely fantastic... and I loved it!) Both Charlotte and Gunner were beautifully written characters who had so many layers and challenges to work through and I loved getting to watch them work through it all. The chemistry between them was absolutely fantastic... and my goodness, that first kiss!? So good! I really just adored these two together. Throw in some family drama and elements of faith and this was a beautifully written story that I absolutely couldn't get enough of!
If you enjoy Christian romance, this book and series are not to be missed! I've not read a Denise Hunter book that I haven't enjoyed, but this series is definitely my very favorite from her!
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this conclusion to Denise Hunter’s Riverbend Gap series! Wildflower Falls is a good blend of family drama, romance, and self-discovery. Although I would have preferred more emphasis on the romantic elements of the book, as in other novels by Hunter, I really enjoyed getting to see more of the Robinsons and meeting Charlotte and Gunner. 4/5 stars
