Another cute entry in the Fairy Tale Cupcake Bakery mysteries, I did guess the murderer right off but I don't know if it was just that obvious, or if I've just honed my skills from all the cozy mysteries I read. It's Christmastime! Mel and Joe are living in wedded bliss, Angie and Tate are crazy about their baby Emari, and the bakery business is booming. So much so that Mel is reluctant to take on a long gig of supplying the VIP room of a holiday concert with cupcakes, even though Angie's good friend Shelby is the artist in residence. Naturally, when Mel is around, people drop dead (a fact she uses to her advantage in this book), and the gang is swept up with supplying enough cupcakes for Shelby's concert every night, running the bakery, hosting Christmas dinner at Mel's house for the entirety of her AND Angie's families plus whoever else might turn up, and solving a murder.

Jenn McKinlay keeps it fresh. Her characters don't feel tired, her plots aren't boring, her dialogue is still good. The only thing I might suggest is Mel sign up for some Krav Maga classes or something.

If you're looking for a delectable mystery to satisfy your sweet tooth, you've come to the right place! I do recommend reading this series from the start, so that you can enjoy the journey of all the delightful characters in this book!

Tis that time of year again, when carols are playing, people are shopping....and someone is murdered. Join Mel and Angie as they embark on another murder mystery to find out who committed a murder. Finding a bit of Santa's suit along with a cupcake spurs the sisters on to find out who did this dastardly deed.

This was another Jenn McKinlay hit and a great addition to the Cupcake Bakers series. When one of Angie's friends returns to town as a singing sensation, Fairy Tale Cupcakes is hired to provide cupcakes in the VIP lounge for the singer's concerts. Angie and Mel sense that all was not right in the singer's world and when the singer's manager is murdered, they are determined to get to the bottom it all. All of the previous characters are in this entertaining mystery which adds to the interest factor. If you are looking for a great cozy mystery, you should definitely read the Cupcake Bakers series. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in return for my honest opinion.

Sugar Plum Poisoned is book 15 in the Cupcake Bakery series’s. But, don’t let that stop you from reading this cozy mystery. Enough of the back story is included that you won’t get lost. The returning characters are like old friends with some being front and center. While others step back into supporting roles. And, as a sweet treat the recipes for the featured cupcakes are included.

Mel and Angie’s holiday is heating up when Angie’s friend Shelby comes to town. The bakery is offered the job of providing specialty cupcakes to her concerts VIPs. But, things aren’t what they seem with tension between those people surrounding Shelby. Opening night goes smoothly until Mel discovers a body.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a well written cozy mystery.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in return for my honest and fair review.

#netgalleysrc Another great addition to one of my fave series. I love that the books of this series are similar but not always the same story. Love the characters, love the author, another great read.

Great addition to the Cupcake series! Mel is a little jealous of Angie’s friendship with a star singer, Shelby. When Shelby comes to town for a Christmas gig at a local hotel, the bakers are hired to cater the VIP party. Lots of twists, turns, old and new grudges. Then, a murder. So many people wanted this person eliminated but who? Top off this murder mystery with Mel being asked to host Christmas dinner for both families! Oz and friends to the rescue along with the hilarious “brothers DeLaura”! Jenn McKinlay is incredible!

Sugar Plum Poisoned by Jenn McKinlay is another very cozy mystery of the Fairy Tale Bakery family. Set around Christmas time, Mel and Angie provide cupcakes, mystery solving and support for a musician friend. It is always a treat to have another in the series to read.

Jenn McKinlay continues to keep her long-running Cupcake Bakery Mystery series fresh with this new installment. While it could enjoyably be read as a standalone, it’s fun to have gotten to know these characters as the series has progressed.

Mel is front and center in this one, with Angie featuring prominently, and Tate mostly in the background. Angie’s friend Shelby, the rising musical star, is featured as a sweet character whose managers keep dying. It was fairly easy to figure out the murderer, yet that didn’t take away an ounce of enjoyment. It was certainly a quick and fun read!

My thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for granting access to a digital ARC in exchange for my opinions.

Jenn McKinlay continues to find clever ways to kill characters in her books and even cleverer ways to endanger Mel in this series. Wondering what she will come up with next.

Sugar Plum Poisoned, like the rest of the Cupcake Bakery Mystery series, is a sweet treat of a read. It has an enticing mystery, delicious descriptions and recipes, likable characters with sprinkles of humor. Like a cupcake, it’s easy to devour this cozy mystery but you’ll want to savor it so you don’t miss a single crumb of a clue. Fun for longtime readers - Marty twerks in a Santa suit! And with enough backstory so that new readers won’t feel lost, Sugar Plum Poisoned is a yummy holiday read..

I have to say that Jenn Mckinlay is one of my all time favorite authors and I enjoy reading her books. This one was right up there at the top of my favorites list. I loved following along with Mel, Angie, Tate, dear Joe, and the rest of the gang. The storyline was fantastic and I couldn't put the book down. I did manage to figure out who the killer was, but that didn't stop me from reading till the end. And the recipes at the end were just great. I can't wait to read more from this author.
