Life can change in an instant as we all know and, in The Followers, one picture sent out on social media shows the dark side of things. This book quickly ramps up to intense which will have you turning pages as fast as you can. Great characters add to this twisty and dark thriller that will have you thinking twice before you post for the world to see.

4.5 but I decided to just round up—this was a really fun surprise for me! I don’t really go into thrillers anymore expecting a lot. They’re usually fine, good for a palate cleanse, and that’s all. Which isn’t bad!

I really, really enjoyed this though! I blew through it once I got started and couldn’t put it down. I found the mystery to be really gripping and thought that the characters were super engaging in a genre where characters and their development tend to be neglected in favor of twists.

This still had plenty of twists (some of which made my jaw genuinely drop!), and the author really nailed the influencer aspect of it. Molly’s quotes and stuff at the beginning of every chapter were so corny and embarrassing but people really do act like that online. The only real gripe I had with the book were the pop culture references, but that’s a more personal issue on my end. I think that they always just end up really dating a book instead of adding much.

Ultimately I liked this a ton, and I’ll probably go and read the author’s first book!

Wow! Typically, influencer-centered books fall short for me, with vapid characters and no real understanding of the world of influencers. The Followers captured the life of a social media influencer so well, and with characters so well-developed and with such depth. Just 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

After our social media star, Molly, posts a photo of her new fiancé, all hell breaks loose. It seems her loving, single-father fiancé has a few secrets that are about to catch up with him.

Liv has grown up knowing her sister died the night her daughter Gabriela (Liv’s niece) vanished. It’s been years, and there’s been no sign of Gabriela or her dad since. Until…

And then, a third party saw the post. And we get this extra creepy stalker perspective every few chapters. Following Molly, but with an end-game of catching her fiancé.

The ending had some twists that made finishing the book so fun. Loved it!

I really enjoyed this one! While it's nothing to write home about in terms of literary form and function (and some of the character's name choices had me cringing), I thought the plot and storyline was intriguing enough and it kept me turning the metaphorical pages quickly. I enjoyed the relationship between Liv and Molly and I was even a little surprised by the character reveals at the end, so all in all a good thriller!

Do we really ever know those closest to us? Just like Bradeigh Godfrey’s debut novel, Imposter, I was super engaged through this whole story as I considered that question. I think it’s actually a theme of both of her novels. This isn’t a twisty thriller (although there definitely is a twist at the end), but it’s one that keeps you turning pages to find out what really happened in Molly’s husband’s past. It definitely had me thinking about how what I share on social media can be used by others.

I really enjoyed The Followers a lot!

I thought the pacing was good and the characters were well written.

Lately, I have been reading thrillers and figuring them out before I'm even halfway through, but even with suspicions, I didn't figure out The Followers completely, especially the twist at the end!

I also find myself getting bored with a lot of the thrillers lately when I get about halfway through, but I stayed very engaged with this one.

This was my first book from Bradeigh Godfrey and really enjoyed the way she writes, so I don't think it will be my last. There was something about the way she described the characters movements and expressions that really allowed me to picture them well in my mind and that was really refreshing.

I thought she incorporated the influencer aspect really well. It definitely makes you think twice about the things you post online and how easily it helps people find you.

I'd definitely recommend it. :)

I am a sucker for books centered around influencers with secrets (or in this case, the influencer's husband and his secrets.)

If you're a fan of slow burn thrillers, you will enjoy this. If fast-paced and action packed are more of the thrills you seek - this one doesn't really pick up steam. There was a mystery 3rd party, but I will admit I got confused when this person was brought in the mix, since this character really had very few appearances, I felt there needed to be more. I think that would have amped up the mystery for me.

I'm not one to post a lot of my personal life on social media, but I do follow a few bloggers/influencers on instagram and find that lifestyle interesting. So this book, about an influencer with a huge online following, and someone who uses her posts to find someone they are looking for, caught my attention. Thanks to Blackstone Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was hooked right from the start, and found the writing style engaging and the characters likable. Molly is the influencer, a single mom who recently married a single dad who is extremely private. When she posts a pic of him in her stories, he is livid, and while she doesn't understand his anger, she deletes the post and promises she won't post his picture again. It was too late though, as unbeknownst to her, her husband has a secret past, and someone has already seen it. Liv is a physical therapist who has spent a decade looking for the man she believes killed her older sister and kidnapped their baby. When she sees Molly's post, she believes she's found him - and heads to Colorado to find out.

There is much more to the story than this, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Each chapter begins with a quote from Molly's instagram or book, and interspersed throughout are transcripts from a snark site mocking everything she posts. I've seen sites like this before and always wonder why people bother to hate read someone and post such nasty things online, rather than just ignore the people that bother them so much. You also realize that someone else - not just Liv - is looking for Molly's husband and using her posts to find him. There were a couple other little mysteries about the past that unfold through the book, and a few things managed to surprise me.

I would describe this a mostly light, entertaining read but also a thriller since there was that undercurrent of dread in the last third of the book. As I mentioned, I didn't catch everything ahead of time and that's rare in this genre for me. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read Bradeigh Godfrey's first book now.

Molly Sullivan is an influencer. She shares everything about her life, but when she posts a picture of her new fiancee, he gets mad and insists she takes it down. . He doesn’t want himself or his daughter on social media at all. What secrets is Scott hiding and what does Liv Barrett and her missing niece have to duo with it?
This book kept me on my toes and while certain aspects were predictable, others were set up in a way that wasn’t fully obvious but had foreshadowing hints. The twists were a little off as the set up wasn’t fully there but they were still done in a well done way. I had a blast reading this and now I need to visit Durango CO, without a stalker would be ideal.

The publisher reached out to send me this book and I am super thankful for that. This book was super fun and received for free in exchange for an honest review, if I wanted.
I got approved from netgalley later on.

Review on instagram to be posted closer to publishing date.

📚: The Followers by Bradeigh Godfrey (@bradeighgodfrey)
⭐️: 4/5

What a solid, twisty, psychological thriller! Fast paced with complex characters, The Followers chronicle influencer Molly Sullivan, her new husband Scott, and Liv Barrett - who has a dark connection to Scott’s past. (She’s sure that he murdered her sister all those years ago, and it’s time for her to find out the truth.)

The influencer angle (especially momfluencers) has been a popular thriller trope this year, but this one, in my opinion, is the best of the bunch! A big thank you to @blackstonepublishing via @netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. The Followers is out later this month on 8/29!

I always told my kids that once you post a picture, it’s out there forever. This book is proof of that! Molly is a social media influencer. But she didn’t get there by being racy or provocative. She attained her internet fame by being authentic about her struggles as a single mom. But things are different now. She’s recently married to a man who is reclusive and now has a stepdaughter. While he doesn’t want to have his life shared with her followers, she makes the mistake of posting an engagement picture of them. That sets up everything that follows.

One of the people who sees it is Liv. She has been through the loss of her sister in a horrific crime. When she sees Molly’s husband, she is convinced he is the man who killed her sister, abducted her niece, and has been on the run since. She puts a plan in place to investigate.

It’s an interesting premise that felt somewhat like The Last Thing He Told Me (which I loved.) The book is fast-paced and told mostly from Liv and Molly’s POVs. There is also a “hate Molly” forum that was pretty funny. It really showed just how nasty keyboard warriors can be. The last 50 pages are non-stop action. Big kudos to the ending – I was completely wrong in my guess of the resolution, and yet it was very believable.

This is a very good book and worth the read. The only thing that I didn’t love was some of the spicy scenes. They took me out of the story a little because that’s just not my thing. But I still highly recommend it.

The Followers tells the story of friendship between two women who are new in town, one a newly married social media influencer, the other a temp worker. Unbeknownst to influencer Molly, her charmed life is not what it seems. Everyone around her is hiding things. As her engagement falters and she makes shocking discoveries, the reader is left wondering who can be trusted. 5 star.

The mother-load.
Young woman stalks insta-mom hoping to do revenge on her hubs, whom she believes murdered her sister and kidnapped her baby niece. Hijinx ensue

I liked that this book put a twist on the influencer thriller genre. The female characters were likable and relatable. Basically everything you would like out of a book of this type.

The Followers is perfect for anyone on social media, from influencers, big & small, to those that follow devotedly or those that stay casually lurking in the background. Molly is an influencer with millions of followers. Newly married with a new stepdaughter and house she has to navigate the wishes of her husband for privacy. Unfortunately she already shared a photo when they got engaged. Everything is always seen even if it's deleted immediately after.

Liv Barrett is just one who saw the picture and she's going to track Molly down because the man in the picture is the one she believes killed her sister and disappeared with her niece. Soon she is arranging to be in the same places as Molly. As she gets closer to getting proof so does someone else watching and tracking from the shadows.

It was hard to put this down. From worrying about Liz getting caught to seeing what Molly would discover to figuring out who the creepy mysterious figure is this is a tension filled read. Even the more mild parts in between keep your attention because they show that you never know who is on the other side of a comment. There are sections in between chapters with comments in a forum dedicated to hating on Molly. It's all spot on and shows how nasty people can be.

Molly is likeable and not a typical influencer character. She's too nice and you really feel for her as she tries to balance things. You feel for the other characters as well. Love and the need for family is a major theme. There is a twist and then more twists as I watched to see how things could possibly work.

The Followers is a perfect Summer read. If you like thrillers I highly recommend it!

Thank you to Blackstone Publishing for the chance to read!

The perfect end of summer thriller to binge read in the sun! Give me all the social media influencer storylines with BTS content and the repercussions from sharing your life with the world!

Fast paced, much like Bradeigh’s last novel I devoured this game of a cat and mouse chase to see what was true. Throw in the mix media of quotes & tweets as well as the haters from the forums which just escalated the story! Switching POVs with strong narrative you will continually be wondering who is telling the truth!

Bradeigh wrote the character of an influencer flawlessly and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!!! A great follow up to her debut Imposter!

Thank you Blackstone Publishing & Libro.fm for the ALC

Great thriller that makes you rethink the lives of your favorite social media influencers.

Molly has been a social media influencer for five years. She made a successful life for her and her daughter showing their day to day life, but that changed when she got married and her husband doesn’t want to be on social media.

Olivia has been looking for sisters killer who is also her nieces dad. She gets a break when a famous influencer posts a picture of her new husband…

This is gripping thriller where you don’t know who is telling the truth. You switch from third person following Molly and Liv through their very different lives, then you switch to first person who is also trying to keep the truth hidden.

This book is so fast paced that you can get through it quickly with no overly long chapters.

You won’t have the twist figured until the end in this book.

Between the suspenseful description and the glowing reviews, I couldn't wait to read The Followers. Unfortunately, this book didn't hit me the same way it hit others.

The pacing through the beginning and the middle was incredibly slow — so much day-to-day and recounting the past, without moving the plot forward. Liv's decisions seem unclear as well; it feels like she's seeking out Molly, then avoiding her, then seeking her out again.

The reviews hint at an amazing ending, but I just couldn't get there. Maybe with the author's next book, but this one wasn't for me.

The Followers is a somewhat gripping psychological thriller that follows Molly, a super successful social media influencer, and Liv, a young woman whose sister was murdered almost a decade ago and who has been searching for her sister's murderer since. Unfortunately for Molly, Liv believes that Molly's husband is her sister's killer. As Liv is slyly getting closer to Molly, Molly is uncovering other secrets her husband is hiding. The Followers is packed with secrets, lies, and betrayals. I, honestly, did not predict the end, which was a nice surprise, since I've found many thrillers to be quite predictable lately. However, with that said, I did think the pacing was a bit off. The middle of the book definitely dragged. I also could have used with more intrigue. While, yes, I didn't know who the main "bad-guy" was until the end, there wasn't much else to keep me wanting to read. The characters were fine - they weren't overly developed but they also weren't empty or unlikable. Overall, The Followers is a decent thriller with some exciting parts.

Oh my does Bradeigh Godfrey know how to write a thriller. Her book Imposter is one of my top reads so far this year and The Followers will be up there also!!!

Molly is an influencer who shares her life on social media. When she shares a photo of her new husband she opens a gate to his past and the many secrets he has kept from her. What follows is a brilliant story of characters from the past and present that keep you guessing this entire book!!!

A big 5-star read that I absolutely loved!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bllackstone Publishing for the chance to read and review this amazing book!!!

What a twist!!! I absolutely loved Bradeigh Godfrey’s debut thriller and couldn’t wait to get my hands on her second, The Followers. Let me tell you; it did NOT disappoint. The characters are all incredibly relatable and unique, and the plot kept my guessing the entire time. I literally couldn’t put this thriller down.
