A very sweet cookbook aimed at fans of Fablehaven. It is well set out and the recipes look cute. I would only recommend it to fans as I was mostly unfamiliar with the references
Very informative and interesting book. I highly write recommend it. Very educational. Very enjoyable
The beginning of this cookbook has a short story from the book series, then all of the amazing recipes, and it ends with crafts based off the series too! All of these recipes look so yummy and FUN! I personally love the Midsummer Strawberry Salsa and Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips, S'mores Pizza, Shadow Charmer's Hot Chocolate Draught, and the Garus's Wild Brownies. I haven't actually read Fablehaven but now I want to. These recipes and the short story included in this cookbook are a great quick look at the world found within the book series and I'd love to know who Garus is and who/what the Shadow Charmer is! I love that the author of this cookbook is the same author of the series that inspired this one. If you or someone/a child you know loves Fablehaven, they should be gifted this cookbook or be made aware of its existence! The pictures of all of the food is a bonus because, as a picky eater myself, I love being able to see what it is I'm going to be making! I do wish there was a tools/utensils section and maybe some helpful hints or alternatives included. Otherwise, it's a great cookbook!
As I said, I know nothing of the world and this cookbook makes me wish I did!
Thank you to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for this ARC!♥
I have a thing for cookbooks and have started to collect literary cookbooks so was very excited to have the opportunity to read an advance digital copy of this cookbook that is inspired by the favorite childhood series, Fablehaven.
The cookbook is broken down into seven sections, each packed with simple recipes inspired by the world of Fablehaven. The recipes are easy to follow, use simple common ingredients and are accompanied by mouthwatering pictures of the final product.
For me, what makes this cookbook special is the storytelling within the cookbook. There is a short story at the front of the cookbook and each recipe has a little snippet introducing the recipe and its relevance to the series or particular character.
The recipes themselves aren’t earth shattering, but they are whimsical and fun. Perfect for fans of Fablehaven and collectors of literary cookbooks like myself.
A hearty thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview an advance digital copy of this fun cookbook. It was an absolute pleasure to read through.
This is such a wonderful book for any fans of Fablehaven! I love the story in the beginning, it made me want to reread the series, and the themed recipes are really special. The only downside to the book are some of the conventional ingredients that are used, like boxed mixes, food dye, and canola oil. Most of the recipes are completely homemade which I really appreciate. Recipes at the top of my list to try are Grandma Larsen's Sugar Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting, Lena's Loaded Crepes, and Tanu's Heartening Tomato Soup. I can't wait to make these recipes with my daughter once she is old enough to enjoy these books.
5 stars to "The Official Fablehaven Cookbook"!
The Fablehaven series was a favorite in my family. Precious hours were spent as I read them aloud to my children. We loved it!
There are many recipes that look very good. I tried the Ogre Stew. It was delicious. There is a bonus short story! Be sure to check this one out. Your tummy and kids will love you.

Simple, youth friendly recipies. Great for anyone who loves these books and wants to try out some new recipes. Something for every taste bud and cooking ability. Yumm!
This book was so good I cannot stress this enough! Reading and cooking are two of my favorite things in the whole world so being able to do both is just fantastic! The kids and I create some of these amazing recipes and we look forward to making more! I have even made some of them vegan and will hopefully be able to do that with most.
So I love to cook and this cookbook has some neat recipes a few I had to change so I could try it. But it's really good.
5 star
And yes I do recommend it
Already told a few people I know that like to cook and hopefully they like it to.
How absolutely fun! I loved the original story at the beginning and oh my goodness the recipes are delightful! There’s crafts too!
nice book, great addition and wonderful book for fand of the book series and i think a wonderful thing to have to combine a kids reading with cooking and maybe give them the opportunity to learn something. new while also having a way to still have the book series connection.
the recipes are nice and the book is great.
A story and a cookbook! Perfect. I am in love with this cookbook. They have done an amazin job at creating an adventure while creating some wonderful treats. Along with great recipes you will be treated to their new story “The Missing Brownies:A Fablehaven Adventure.” These house brownies are perfect for a cookbook, they are known to come in the night and create treats. This was a fun book for our family. It was so hard to pick our favorites. We enjoyed the Sorenson Buttermilk Pancakes, Fairy Garden Cupcakes and the Shadow Charmer’s Hot Chocolate Draught. There are 50 recipes in this delightful book and we can’t wait to try them all. We also can’t wait to share with the rest of the family. The pictures in the book are so colorful and appetizing. My 4 year old loved being able to hear a story that goes with what we are eating. It has ignited some adventures for him. I highly recommend this book for families who love food, adventure and some great story telling. We hadn’t had the opportunity to enjoy the books from this author but now my son wants to hear them all. We received this as an ARC and are so grateful. We will be buying this for our home and to share as gifts for family and friends.
100 Stars to this adventure. Enjoy
This was a cute cookbook that I think would be great to cook out of for a Fablehaven party! I think everyone of all ages will love this.
This was such a fun cookbook. I don't know what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. If you love Fablehaven and Brandon Mull then you will love this cookbook. My grandkids are wrapping up the series and this cookbook will be such a fun way to celebrate especially during Halloween. The recipes are fun and inviting. I look forward to trying these out with the kiddos!
Full of fun and tasty recipes. Use them at parties or anytime to spice up your meals. A fun story starts the book off right.
I really enjoyed The Official Fablehaven Cookbook by Brandon Mull. I was impressed, not only by the recipes, but also the side stories that linked this cookbook to the Fablehaven series. It's a great complement to the books, but I would definitely say that for a reader to fully appreciate this cookbook, they should be familiar with the series itself. Overall, I think the recipes looked good, used simple ingredients, had clear instructions, and sound like something I would actually eat!
As a huge fan of the Fablehaven series I was delighted to read this short story and cookbook. I loved that some of the recipes were directly pulled from scenes in the books and that I get to now make them! It is always fun to revisit a childhood favorite series and this proved to be a joyful read that made me hungry.
This was a fun cookbook! My kids loved looking through it and recognizing the names of their favorite characters from the Fablehaven world. They helped pick out recipes to try and enjoyed shopping and preparing the food together. The recipes are easy and kid-friendly. If you’re looking for a fun way to cook with your kids, this is a great cookbook to try!
The recipes are inspired by the characters from the series. I haven't read the series, so that was not what made me request the book. I love all things spooky and the cover is just that. It's why I requested the cookbook from Netgalley.
There's a cute story at the beginning of the cookbook about the missing brownies. It was a different pleasant addition to the cookbook.
Their are a lot of food pictures, which is always a plus in my book. I don't think you should have a cookbook without photos to show what was being cooked.
In addition to the food pictures, there are also illustrations. I thought this was a wonderful addition given the theme of the cookbook.
The recipes all include information about them. For example, there's a recipe for fairy toast. I had never heard of this until I moved to Australia. The description describes fairy toast and how it is an Australian delicacy, mostly with children.
I can't wait to try out some of the recipes.
5 out of 5
This is a cookbook meant to be shared with your children and your family. Recipes from the series will strike up many an interesting conversation while you work your magic together. The recipes are easy to follow, the prep is fun, the results delicious. It was a pleasure to add this cookbook to our home library, it has already generated some very special memories with many more to come.
