When I read Melody Carlson's holiday Novella's I know Christmas is coming!
Each book that she writes during this special season is different, light and with characters that I always enjoy knowing and thinking about.
This story had me absorbed in a small place called. Montovia.
When Adelaide receives a letter from there stating she needs to make a visit, I as well as Adelaide thought this must surely be a scam.
However- the journey now begins as she realizes this is "real" and decides to investigate this claim in person.
The story it is nothing but incredible, touching, touching although it is a holiday story, can absolutely be enjoyed anytime of the year.
Don't we all need Christmas all the time?
Thank you to #NetGalley and #Revell for this ARC and allowing me to read and provide my own review.
Excellent!

A Royal Christmas is full of cozy Christmas feels of grown-up fantasies come true when Adelaide receives a letter that her unknown father is a King. Once Adelaide determines the letter is authentic, her Christmas journies begin. Melody Carlson hooked me with the opening sentence, and I kept turning the pages to the end. If you enjoy stories full of Christmas spirit and dreams come true, you will certainly enjoy this treat of a read.

Another Carlson book destined to be a Hallmark-type classic movie, this one shines in its simplicity. Sure, we'd all love to be a princess, and the plot is unrealistic, but it's sweet and cleanly-written, with faith woven subtly throughout. This feels a little like Princess Diaries, but it's different enough that folks who love quick reads, sweet romances, or Christmas stories are going to enjoy it!

I have read many Melody Carlson books before and have enjoyed them. From the description, I felt like this was a retelling of the Princess Diaries movie. It is similar, but also very different. I didn't know when I requested the book from NetGalley that is a novella. As such, things seem to move quickly and a little bit incomplete. So it is a short story, but perfect for someone short on time.

Adelaide Smith is working hard to put herself through law school. She receives a letter from the prime minister of Montovia, a small Bavarian-like country in Europe informing her that she is the daughter of the King Maximilian V.
With the king gravely ill and his younger brother missing for weeks, Adelaide is next in line for the throne. Adelaide embarks on the trip of a lifetime to discover a missing father, a welcoming public, and maybe even love.
Ultimately, Adelaide must decide if she belongs in the United States, or Montovia.

I'm not big into Christmas stories but I know some people love them. This story set right around Christmas time and the people of Montovia have lots of beautiful Christmas traditions. Adelaide is influential in moving the festivities away from the current Queen's trendy and gaudy celebrations to simple and elegant. I thought the story was sweet and simple. I wish it was a full novel so the reader could get to know the characters better and expound on some of the situations.

I received a free copy of, A Royal Christmas by, Melody Carlson, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. After taking a dna test, Adelaide, finds out she is related to royalty. Adelaide goes to Montovia to meet her family. I could not imagine taking a dna test and finding out I have royal blood. Adelaide is a great characters the Queen not so much. This is a clean romance, not as much religious undertones as her their books though. I really enjoyed this Christmas story.

Melody Carlson’s Christmas novel this year is unique and different than any of her previous holiday books. It’s really more like a modern day fairy tale. Struggling College girl’s childhood fantasies come true for her. This story reminds me of the movies Princesses Diaries and Knotting Hill. When you read this book you will understand why I mentioned this. I thought it was interesting and it is very Christmassy! It has the potential to become a Hallmark movie. The story was a quick read and a page turner. I can’t say I thought it was her best ever Christmas novel but it definitely was different. I wasn’t fond of the ending but for the most part I did enjoy the book.

I recommend this book to readers of Christmas books, women’s fiction and fans of the author. It is a standalone book. A Royal Christmas is scheduled to be released on 9/5/23.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are entirely my own.

Melody Carlson gifts us with another very enjoyable Christmas book although it reads like many Hallmark Royal movies.

Girl who received mysterious letter claiming she is found to be part of a royal family and is needed to come to the small country to take her place. Meets her father, other relatives and eventually her “prince charming”.

This is a quick, sweet read for those who love this type of book.

A Royal Christmas: A Christmas Novella is a quick enjoyable read. Royal Christmas books are quite popular and this one did not disappoint.

Adelaide Smith is working hard to put herself through law school and is focused on her goals. She receives an official looking letter notifying her that she has been found to be a direct descendant of King Maximilian V, the ruler of a small Eastern European principality, called Montovia. She’s quite skeptical as that’s the stuff of made for TV movies, not real life. Adelaide’s curiosity gets the best of her, leading to a Christmas trip full of surprises, including a charming village, a gorgeous palace, royal jealousies, and a handsome young member of Parliament.

There is drama and danger weaved into the story along with a sweet developing romance . I enjoyed reading about the Christmas traditions of Montovia and really enjoyed the supporting characters. A delightful story that I throughly enjoyed.

Thank you Netgalley and Revell for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book feels a bit too close to the Princess Diaries and the upcoming The Head That Wears the Crown. Missing princes, evil queens, yes this novella has it all but I feel like the story was jumping arorund. One minute she's crowned queen and then the next minute her uncle is the king. Sorry but it's unbelievable.

A delightful feel good story, but felt like I'd read it before.... it seemed like many other small country Cinderella stories. I kept hoping for a twist that never came, sadly.

Melody Carlson's books are sweet, light, and often humorous. Sometimes she adds a bit of mystery to keep the reader engaged.

So imagine you are a barista working your way through law school and you get a letter telling you that your father, who is a king in a very small European country is on his death bed. Now, imagine that you didn't even know you HAD a father, much less one who is considered royalty, albeit in a country of 15,000 people. How do you handle this piece of mail that is requesting a visit from you before your father passes away? First of all, determine whether the letter is a scam, then choose your path accordingly.

Adelaide Katelyn had just that series of events happen to her. In the midst of meeting her father and becoming accustomed to palace life, Adelaide finds her stepmother less than welcoming. This is almost a Snow White kind of story minus the poison apple.

Some of the supporting characters make the story so much richer, especially Anton. But, I felt that the novella was incomplete. The problem with novellas is that there is limited space to fully develop the narrative. That is the only criticism I have for the novella. It is a quick read and quite engaging.

Four Strong Stars.

What a sweet, fun read, that reads like a Hallmark movie.

A young woman, struggling to pay to finish college, but determined. Then she finds a letter that changes her life forever! You can imagine, finding out that your a Princess, she never knew whom her father was, and what door that is about to open to her. Will she accept it?

The author gives us a King, the father she has never met, also a Queen, will she be the evil stepmother?

There is a bit of romance here, and there is a bit of drama, and danger, and the author does a wonderful job of weaving this story together.

When I turned the final page, I really wanted to continue!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revel, and was not required to give a positive review.

I have loved every book I have read that Melody Carlson has written. The characters are always relatable and often make their way into my heart from the start.

Adelaide Smith grew up as an only child of a single mother. She did not know anything about who her father is, and her mother was not forthcoming with any information. Now tragically, it has been nearly three years since the death of her mother in a tragic car accident.

Upon finishing her last day at Common Grounds Coffee so she can concentrate on completing her law degree in the coming year, her best friend Maya gives her a ride home. Upon arriving at home, Adelaide goes through her mail, when she notices an unusual legal-size envelope from the country of Montovia. Is this a scam, she questions as she opens it and immediately is in shock. The very official document states it is believed she is the daughter of the King of Montovia, who is extremely ill and wants to meet her. It goes on to say Adelaide is the heir to the throne.

This delightful, fast-paced fascinating story follows along with Adelaide as Maya convinces her to accept the offer to travel with all expenses paid to the small European country of Montovia to meet her father. She has no idea of the adventures that await her. Some welcome her with open arms, delighted to know the daughter of King Max, as he is known and loved by many. There are others who would be most happy to do away with her. It is almost Christmas time, so she agrees to stay through the holiday. This delightful, heartwarming story has a few crisis situations, a bit of romance and the joy of Christmas as Adelaide celebrates the birth of Jesus among her newfound friends and family.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
