Into the Fire is the first book in the Undaunted Courage series by Irene Hannon. The story follows Arson Investigator Bri Tucker as she investigates the fire that took the life of a retired arson investigator. She doesn’t feel as if it is just an accident as it appears to be. She has been teamed up with ATF investigator Marc Davis, who has his doubts about her feelings of the fire not being an accident.

I enjoy reading this author’s books as she always does a fantastic job of weaving the story and keeps you guessing till the very last page. This book is no different. The story starts off strong and never lets up. The characters come to life as the book continues with the way the author describes them and slowly tells their backstory. I also like the fact that they aren’t perfect and that they both have something in their past that makes them who they are now. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Look no further if you are looking for a book full of suspense, action, and intrigue!

A former smokejumper, Bri Tucker knows, an arson investigator knows her way around fires. Bri inherits a curious puzzle from a former colleague who died in a mysterious blaze, raising questions about several fire-related deaths. However, there is someone who doesn't want her picking up where he left off searching for answers.

The danger escalates when she teams up with ATF Special Agent Marc Davis to solve the puzzle. But will they be able to track down the person behind the mysterious deaths before their budding romance-and maybe even their lives-go up in flames?

I give Into the Fire five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

I love this author and I love her books. This one was amazing as always. I love the themes she has for the stories she writes and she is great at writing characters who are true to life, believable and yet make me want to be their friends. I will definitely be telling my friends about this book and cannot wait to read her next book.

Hannon is always a hit or a miss for me and this one decidedly fell into the miss category. It started rough with the cheesy and overwhelmingly ridiculous chemistry dialogue "he tried not to stare at the enchanting dent that juiced his libido." What the heck nonsense writing is that? And then it only got worse as I became fully convinced that Bri Tucker was the worst possible detective on earth.

I think this may be the end of reading Hannon books for me. I finished the book because I kept hoping it would get better and nope, not in a least.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy--wish I had nicer things to say.

Spoiler thought removed here but posted (and hidden) on GoodReads.

Into the Fire by Irene Hannon is a thrilling suspense novel. The arson investigations in this novel were interesting to read about. This book kept me hooked throughout with the suspense coming at just the right intervals. The varying points of view were really interesting and added to the story. But I found the interchanging first person and third person points of view confusing. Overall, it was a fascinating novel and I recommend it. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Irene Hannon’s “Into the Fire’ is an excellent novel. I love any book that this author writes whether it is a love story, a suspense novel or a mystery. This book just happens to have all three.
Bri Tucker is a former smokejumper now working as a fire investigator. She is investigating the death of a retired fellow worker who died in a fire. Bri is known for not easily giving up and she keeps digging into this case and finding more and more disturbing facts.

There is also an ATF Agent Marc Davis who is assigned to work the case. They soon find themselves attracted to each other even though both were at a time in their lives where they weren’t looking for a relationship with someone. But someone is after Bri and incidents keep escalating and she is in danger. This is a fast-paced book to read and it isn’t easy to figure out who the killer is.

I was given an copy of this book by Net Galley but the opinion is my own.

Into The Fire is the first book in a new series for multi-published author Irene Hannon. Hannon has long been a go-to author for romantic suspense, and this book was a great choice for some adrenaline-laced reading! The book starts out with a bang as readers are introduced to an unknown bad guy with arson and murder on his mind. Following this thrilling prologue, main characters Bri, an arson investigator, and Marc, an ATF agent, are introduced. They are on the case of a fire that took the life of a well-respected retired arson inspector. Bri has doubts that the fire that caused his death was accidental — the mystery and suspense take off from there. I read a lot of suspense novels, and I found Hannon’s choice of subject matter and character occupations refreshing. The investigation is complicated by mishaps designed to distract Bri, but the two characters are very determined and professional. This is a romance too, so there are plenty of sparks (sorry, not sorry) between the main characters, even as they navigate baggage from their pasts. The danger ramps up quickly and the pace of the book accelerates, making this book a page turner! Hannon will keep you guessing as you question everyone’s actions and motives.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense that will keep you up past your bedtime 😉 , then Into The Fire should make your list.

Recommended.

Audience: Adults.

Full of Action!

I was very excited to get my hands on this first book in her new series! I can always count on Irene Hannon to keep me on my toes trying to figure out who is behind what is going on.

Bri is a strong woman character who presents real struggles. Marc is very likable. I loved the interaction between them as they tried to solve this and the real struggles and faith shared.

Audiobook: Narrated by Therese Plummer
I did go back and forth between the book and the audiobook. Therese Plummer did a wonderful job of narrating. She did not distract from the book.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

When you have a Hannon novel like this suspense, you know you have a great book that is going to keep your attention for quite a while. This is the first book in the Undaunted Courage series and it is really something that will keep you reading once you start. It involves a mystery of a killer whose method of murder is so heinous that it just seems it’s impossible to solve, but hold on to your seats Hannon has two investigators on this case. Bri is a local fire investigator and Mark is an ATF special agent and as they work together following clues they are able to solve this horrible murder plus other cold cases. Along with the suspense there is romance building. Thanks to that NetGalley and Revell for this great book and this is my review in my own words. When you have a Hannon novel like this suspense, you know you have a great book that is going to keep your attention for quite a while. Into the Fire is the first book in Irene Hannon’s Undaunted Courage series. Fire investigative detective Bri Tucker is relatively new to the St. Louis department. She was formerly a smokejumper in Idaho until an unfortunate parachute accident left her with a shattered femur, many surgeries to endure, and a long recovery period of physical therapy and pain. Now, still, she has been left with a limp and deep soreness after a long day’s work. Her police detective brother Jack and her college professor sister Cara are all the family Bri has, even though they are none blood related.

When a suspicious fatal fire occurs in the home of retired fire investigator Les Kavanaugh’s home, Bri is assigned to investigate as is ATF agent Marc Davies. The pair are assigned to work together to figure out why a seasoned fire investigator would die in his recliner in a fire since it makes no sense.

Marc Davis recently transferred from the ATF office in Chicago to St. Louis. While new to the department, he is not new to the area. He moved back home to care for his elderly grandmother as she endured cancer treatment. His grandparents had been there for him when his parents succumbed in a house fire when Marc was only ten years old. Now Nan is on her own and Marc is determined to be there for her.

The investigation gets nowhere, even with the hints left on a scrap of paper in Kavanaugh’s wallet. That is until Bri receives an anonymous tip linking four Fire deaths together. Then they are slowly able to piece things together putting Bri in a very precarious position.

This is such a well woven story with wonderful characters. Clues are planted along the way until the reveal of who the arsonist actually is. With several interesting subplots and twists along the way, I found this to be a perfectly crafted mystery. My prior reading experience with this author has been more women’s fiction so I was both surprised and pleased to discover this other side to a favorite author. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

I'm convinced that Irene Hannon has two personalities. One writes beautiful, heart-grabbing stories of contemporary romance, while the other writes gripping, sometimes scary, suspense stories with a side-helping of romance. Whatever she's writing, I'm ALWAYS happy to read it!

Into the Fire is romantic suspense at its finest. Former smoke jumper, Bri Tucker has gone from the adrenaline rush of jumping out of planes into danger, to investigating suspicious fires. For the most part, she works alone, but her latest assignment lands ATF Special Agent Marc Davis as her investigative partner. When a former colleague dies in a fire, Bri knows there has to be more to the story. Especially since that same colleague had contacted her the day before to set up an appointment because a cold case he was looking into was looking like it wasn't "natural causes." The discovery of a coded list puts Bri on the path of a puzzle, but when "little accidents" start happening to her, can she stay a step ahead of a killer?

I've been reading Irene Hannon's books for, probably, 30 years, and in my opinion, she has only gotten better the longer she writes! Her new "Undaunted Courage" series started off with a blaze in this one. I listened to this on my Libby app, and I hated having to take breaks as I listened! Therese Plummer is ALWAYS amazing as a narrator. Every time I hear her name listed I know the book is going to be a good one.

Hannon fans or anyone who loves romantic suspense will enjoy Into the Fire. It's in the Christian Fiction category, but I didn't think there was a heavy emphasis on the faith element. Maybe that's just me, though, as I generally read Christian fiction.

Into the Fire by Irene Hannon is the first book in the Undaunted Courage series. Bri Tucker is an arson investigator that gets teamed with ATF Agent Marc Davis to investigate a fire that took the life of Bri's beloved colleague. As the investigation gets underway, the evidence leads Bri and Marc to conclude that that fire was one designed to cover up a string of arsons. Hannon creates high-risk suspense blended with a romance that will delight readers and have them eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

A tragic accident ended Bri Tucker’s career as a smokejumper. Now an arson investigator, she applies her knowledge and instincts to piece together fire scenes. When a blaze claims the life of a former colleague, Bri is paired with ATF Special Agent Marc Davis to uncover whether it was an accident or murder. As their quest leads to other questionable fires and deaths, strange things start happening in Bri’s life, and it becomes evident that someone doesn’t want the truth to emerge.

Intrigued by the fire angle, I hurried to pick up Irene Hannon’s latest book. Into the Fire delivered an entertaining story that won’t become a reread. Leaning more heavily toward romance than suspense, the relationship between the protagonists never quite made it off the page for me. Their lack of chemistry and connection made their instalove unbelievable. The mystery was decent but didn’t feel like anything we haven’t seen many times over.

While the story needed more depth to go beyond an okay read for me, I can see romantic suspense readers liking Into the Fire, especially if looking for something quick and light.

Another great romantic suspense from Irene Hannon that was explosive to the very end!

Bri Tucker has put the life of being a smoke jumper behind her after an accident left her unable to stay in the job she loved. Now, she works as an arson Investigator and is looking into the death of a former colleague that had been digging into cold cases. Bri starts looking into the puzzle pieces left behind by the death of one of the investigators she looked up to. With each new piece she uncovers, she finds herself in more and more danger as the killer quickly puts a target on her back. She works with ATF Special Agent Marc Davis and together they try to put the puzzle pieces together before it all falls apart.

Irene Hannon is one of the bestselling authors when it comes to Christian fiction both with romantic suspense and contemporary fiction books. This was a great first book in her new series and I enjoyed it as much as any Christian romantic suspense I’ve read lately. There wasn’t anything negative I can say about it; it was overall a very enjoyable book with many tense moments and good wrap up at the end that also left me wanting more! I can’t wait to see what the next in the series will have to offer. Fans of Hannon’s work will not want to miss this one.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

Irene Hannon's books are intriguing, engaging, and suspenseful. Everytime I read one of her books I learn more about whatever agency she writes about. You can so easily tell all the work and research put into this book. I loved getting to know about Bri and her job as an arson investigator and Marc as his job as an ATF agent. This was well written and I would highly recommend anything written by Irene Hannon.

Bri is a fire investigator assigned to investigate a fire that killed a recently retired but well-respected fire investigator. The fire doesn't appear to be arson, but Bri is suspicious of the circumstances. Marc from ATF is called in to assist in the investigation. Marc and Bri are instantly attracted to one another, but neither is looking for a relationship at this time. They keep things professional while they work on this case. It appears to be accidental, but Bri's gut is telling her there's more going on than appears. Can they figure out before they are forced to close the case? I was intrigued and shocked when it was revealed who the killer was. My shock wasn't only because of who it was but when and how it was revealed. Great job at keeping me on my toes! Too bad Marc and Bri still had no idea. I liked getting to know these characters, seeing them interact and support one another through trying times. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters and hope that Bri's siblings are featured in the coming books of this series. The grandma was a great spiritual influence for Marc. I enjoyed this read and following characters that worked together to solve the puzzle left them.

Bri is an arson investigator and Marc is an ATF agent. Bri is investigating the death of a former arson investigator who died in a house fire, on the surface it seems like an accident but when more fires are discovered to have similarities it seems there may be a serial arsonist behind them. As Bri gets closer to the truth, accidents start to happen around her but are they truly accidents or the work of something more sinister? There is plenty of suspense, action, faith, some romance, and humor in this story. I loved the relationship between Bri and her brother and sister and look forward to reading their stories.

Into the Fire is the first book in the Undaunted Courage series that is written by Irene Hannon. I love anything that this author writes. This book is fast paced, action packed and full of suspense. Bri Tucker is a arson investigator. She has a lot of experience with fires. However, she has a mysterious fire that killed one of her former collegues.

They had been looking into several fires that caused fatalities. Bri tries to pick it up where he left off. . Someone, however, doesn't want her picking up where he left off in search of answers.
