Good characters and plot! A sweet romance. A good mystery. I also like the theme of forgiveness, including forgiving self.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book! All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Irene Hannon’s new series starts off on a thrilling ride of suspense, danger, mystery, and romance! Full of unexpected twists that captures your imagination making it difficult to put the book down.
Bri Tucker is a former smokejumper turned arson investigator. When a retired arson investigator is killed in house fire, Bri finds herself investigating the death of a colleague. Handsome ATF agent Marc Davis is assigned to help Bri discover the reason for the tragedy. When what appears to be a straightforward fire starts creating more questions than answers, the danger starts to heat up for Bri and the past is creeping in for both of them. Time is running out for them to solve this mystery before danger overtakes them.
I absolutely loved this story! It had all the elements to keep me glued to the pages and sad to see it end. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are completely my own.
Irene Hannon does it again! Another intriguing thriller with a surprising ending. Winding a story of faith, hope, love, and forgiveness with suspense in a perfect story once again.
SIZZLING SUSPENSE AND ROMANCE!
Irene Hannon is back with a new series, and Into the Fire (Undaunted Courage Book #1) is sizzling suspense and romance! Be ready to put everything else on hold once you start reading this book. Hannon’s plot is an intricately woven mystery involving a killer whose method of murder is so heinous that it proves to be almost impossible to solve. The criminal is cold, calculating, cunning, and charismatic, which allows them to hide in plain sight. Hannon has two Investigators on this case: Bri, a local Fire Investigator, and Marc, an ATF Special Agent. They first must learn to work together before they can accomplish anything. And, if solving multiple fire deaths is not challenging enough, Bri’s life is also threatened. Is it the same psycho or someone from her past? As the sparks are flying all around Marc and Bri, the sparks start flying between them, too. Hannon keeps your attention to the end with a stunning conclusion. Into the Fire is one of my favorite Irene Hannon books! I cannot wait to read more of this series.

I have enjoyed every romantic suspense story that I’ve read by Irene Hannon. She always writes a solid mystery with a touch of romance. Into the Fire starts with a scene so chilling that I was literally holding my breath and turning the pages as fast as I could. After this beginning scene, I was fully invested in this story and needed to know who the villain was and why they were doing what they were doing.
I liked both Bri and Marc and how they worked together to solve these fiery deaths. While I had the villain pegged from the start, I was still curious of the why. I was hoping for a few more twists and turns and I would’ve liked a bit more romance. However this is a good solid read.
I am so looking forward to the next story in this series. I am hoping it is Jack’s story who, in my opinion, totally stole the show! I loved him and can’t wait to read his story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light. 4 stars.
Smokejumper Bri Tucker investigates the mysterious blaze that killed a former colleague. She teams up with ATF agent Marc Davis. There is suspense and a bit of romance. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
"Into the Fire" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. The characters were likable and reacted realistically to events. Suspense was created by two people secretly harassing Bri and escalating the level of danger as she got closer to solving the serial arson/murder cases.
Bri had a bad relationship back when she was a smokejumper, so she's wary of a new romance. Marc recognized this but was intrigued by her and so kept finding ways to spend time with her. They became friends as they worked together, and Marc was happy to show up to help her in an emergency. They had a romantic 'spark' but both wanted something more that would last. Marc and Bri both had a traumatic childhood, and both struggled to forgive the person who wronged them.
Bri and Marc acted like Christian forgiveness originated in them feeling a certain way rather than as a choice. They couldn't forgive how that person wronged them and changed their lives, like doing so would mean they were okay with what happened. At the end, both suddenly decided to 'give it to God.' Since their inability to forgive was mentioned several times, I felt like there should have been a little more explanation about how they resolved this struggle. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this interesting arson novel.
bri used to be a smokejumper but had an accident , marc is the atf investigator who is assigned to help her check into several cases where someone was killed in a fire this is a page turning story to the end. someone is after bri but is it the killer or an ex friend who caused a lot of trouble when she was a smokejumber? if you like suspense and some romance you will want to read the book i could not stop reading . i was given a copy of the book by netgalley but this is an honest review
A fun, new suspense thriller from Irene Hannon. This one does not disappoint and Irene Hannon will leave feeling fulfilled. My only complaint is that I have to wait so long for the next instalment!
Another great read from Irene Hannon! If you like mystery, thriller elements and romance this is the book for you. It's the start of a new series ("Undaunted courage") and if it starts the way it means to continue, this series will be a winner.
While I guessed the villain of the piece early on, this is unusual of an Irene Hannon story. I found that this didn't take away from the story as there was always the why's which were well written and logical. I liked the characters and the little plot twists thrown into the story.
I receive complimentary books for various sources including, Netgalley, Authors, and other such sources. I am not required to write a positive review and have not received compensation.
I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out who is the Killer. When we are told I had a hard time believing it. Wait, That? I wish that Bri and Marc had more time as a couple. It felt rushed for the ending instead.
5 out of 5 for suspense and thrilling but about a 2.5 out of 5 for romance.
Intriguing, captivating I found in this new series from the author.
Bri had been a fire jumper and now a fire investigator with the help of ATF Agent. Marc Davis to work this case. Gives us the romance as they work together when new clues come in.
Les was at home, had made enemies over the years, looking for the suspect in his career. Was he still working on cases that hadn't been solved, looking for clues missed.
Bri Tucker was to meet with Les, was it a case and wanted her input on it. A coded message was in his wallet to Bri.
A twist plot with clues to keep us guessing. Looking forward to the next one in this series.
Given arc by Net Galley and Revell for my voluntary review
Irene Hannon, award-winning Christian author, has started a brand new book series called "Undaunted Courage." Hannon's first book in this series, "Into the Fire", centers around arson investigator Bri Tucker and ATF Special Agent Marc Davis as they work together to uncover the secrets behind several related arsons. While trying to remain professional, Marc and Bri can't help but notice the sparks between them. I thought the mysteries behind the fires and the slow progression of Marc and Bri's relationship were enjoyable to read about and thought this was an excellent first book in Hannon's new series. I look forward to reading more!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
A gripping complex storyline that keeps the reader engaged in the puzzle. There are many useful life lessons that are woven into the plot, such a reminder that we need to trust God.
Whenever I start an Irene Hannon book, I know I am going to be totally absorbed in the story and maybe even miss a little sleep. That is what happened with this book, in fact the first paragraph drew me in until the last page was turned. Could not put it down.
Les Kavanaugh was a recently retired Arson Investigator, who had continued investigating on his own, a few suspicious fires Someone obviously felt he was getting a little too close to some answers because suddenly it was his house on fire and he was the victim.
Bri Tucker, as the St. Louis Regional bomb and Arson Unit Investigator was at the scene carefully evaluating the situation and the spectators. Les had been a prominent member of the bomb and arson unit until his retirement. His house burning down with him in it raised many questions Bri was determined to find answers for.
Marc Davis, recently transferred to St. Louis from Chicago, where he had been on the ATF’s National Response Team where he had participated in many investigations. He was assigned to help Bri investigate the fire that burned down Les Kavanaugh’s house and caused his death. It was suspicious; however, they were short on clues until they found similarities to other fires that also resulted in a death. As their analysis of many facts continued, it was apparent there was a spark between Marc and Bri, and although it was acknowledged, they both agreed the quest for answers was the top priority.
This is a captivating, fast-paced story with many intriguing moving parts and skepticism regarding the facts of several recent fires that also resulted in untimely deaths. As I read this fascinating story, there was not even a hint or a glimmer of who might be the one responsible for such alarming, yet apparently well thought-out, abhorrent acts.
Irene is a gifted storyteller, with realistic characters that I continue to think about after that last page is turned. This is another of her amazing stories.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and comments are my own.
Do you like mysteries with lots of clues and a suspenseful ending? Bri Tucker was an arson investigator who was investigating a fire that killed a retired arson investigator - but the only evidence was traces of alcohol and an open window. Marc, an ATF agent was helping her solve the case and he'd found a sliver of expensive crystal in the grass near the garden.
Bri gets a call from the father of an earlier house fire victim where drugs were found too and she and Marc try to piece the clues together to solve both incidents but they do not find any answers.
In the meantime, Bri gets 4 flat tires and a tree limb falls on her car and she wonders if someone is after her, as she had a violent boyfriend in the past.
Bri and Marc discover that they enjoy each others company as they work together to solve the incidents.
See if you guess who is setting these fires .....
As usual this author offers a page turning, holding your breath, heart in your throat read, and she sure didn't disappoint with this one!
Was I surprised as the facts unfold, and we find out whom has been committing the murders, oh yes, never suspected!
This is Bri's story, an arson investigator, and as the story opens one of their own has died and ATF has been called in, not happy, but surprised she likes Marc Davis!
We learn a lot about these folks live and what makes them tick, along with being gifted with a budding romance.
Bri walks with limp, but she goes about her job with all she has, she was previously a smoke jumper, she is one tough cookie. As we learn most of these two characters background, your respects and like goes up.
This is a great Christian Suspense read, now I can't wait for the next!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
Bri Tucker was a smokejumper, now she investigates fires. When her colleague dies in a nonsuspicious fire, the situation seems cut and dry, but a few small pieces don't add up, which allows the investigation to continue, alongside an ATF agent, Marc Davis.
Bri doesn't trust men easily after her traumatic background, she tries hard to avoid opening up, but the longer the investigation takes, the longer Marc has to get to know her and build trust. He has his own difficult childhood as his parents were killed in a house fire, leading him into the career he has now.
You get to know both the characters as they investigate the fire, they both came to know the Lord and work out their challenges by seeking him. Irene Hannon fans will enjoy this latest release!
*Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Oh what a book! This book drew me in right away from the Prologue and I couldn’t read it fast enough to suit me. As usual this author does a superb job of creating (mostly) likable characters and great scenery. The main characters are investigating a series of what appear to be fires caused by carelessness but that doesn’t feel right. Even after the supervisor tells them to close the fires, Bree and Marc investigating on their own time. There are lots of twists in the story that kept me coming back for more. Anyone who likes a good mystery will probably like this book. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
I love a good Irene Hannon suspense and Into the Fire is a classic, full of investigative forensics and dangerous situations! 5 stars!
From page one of the prologue readers will hit the ground running with the diabolical plot the evil murderer perpetrates on the victims. Enter fire investigator Bri Tucker who inherits the cold cases of investigator Les Kavanaugh, who dies of smoke inhalation at a fire in his own home. Suspicious much? She joins forces with Marc Davis and ATF Special Agent somewhat grudgingly. Between the two, the pieces start coming together, along with a slow burn attraction they both try hard to subdue and suppress.
There are plenty of twists and turn, but I did figure out who the murderer was before it became obvious, and that's not always easy to do with a Hannon suspense.
I also really enjoyed the secondary characters of Marc's grandma Nan, and Bri's brother Jack and sister Cara. They added an extra layer of family dynamics to the already intriguing story. The epilogue gives all the feels, so charming and touching, pure romantic magic!
As with every Hannon book I read, I'm already looking forward to the next book in the Undaunted Courage series. I can't wait to see what Hannon has up her sleeve for Jack Tucker. I appreciate Revell making a copy of Into the Fire available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
