You’ve Been Served by Kristen Alicia is a cute, quick read with a realistic romantic plot and full of Legally Blonde vibes. Simone quits her job as a chef and asked a magic 8 ball if she should try law school…a few months later she finds herself wondering how on earth she ended up in Michigan and dropping $2000 on textbooks. Simone meets Silas, and she starts falling for him in the midst of desperately trying to stay afloat in her first semester. It was fun to get a glimpse of what law school is like and I appreciated the female friendships and support of each other. I really liked Professor Patton and Simone’s relationship as well. I did find myself having to go back a couple pages trying to see if I missed something as it didn’t make sense due to some inconsistencies. The ending was very sudden and there could have been more detail. However, I think a lot of readers will enjoy this novel. I landed on 2.5 rounded up to 3.0 stars.

Thank you to @netgalley and @entangled_publishing for the eARC. I received a complimentary e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A huge thanks to Entangled Amara for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This is a huge recommendation for fans of Legally Blonde. It follows Simone who is a chef but quits her supposed dream job when something happens at the restaurant . She goes home and with the aid of the Magic 8 ball she heads to law school. While there she struggles to adjust like any human that has a change in career. I loved the female friendships that were brought up in the book between Simone , River and Tiffany. The author created a handsome hero who is lovable, funny and respectful.. This is a perfect read for a lazy day ,
This was a fun and cute read. The main character Simone is a down on her luck mid-20 something going through a major career change and has stared law school after being unsatisfied with her career as a chef. While embarking on this new journey she meets Silas and they develop a interesting friendship. here is comedy and romance all mixed with law school which almost makes you want to attend. A fun and fast read great for a quick escape from reality. Can't wait to read more by Kirsten Alicia!

Rating: 3.5
Have you ever had a Magic-8 ball decide for you what to do next with your life? Well, that’s what Simone did after being fired from her chef position in the Bay Area and found herself studying Law at University of Michigan. It’s not a cake walk, and woefully unprepared, reality really didn’t smack her in the face until being cold-called by her Contracts professor and provided a terrible answer and eventually getting a D- for the semester. But through speaking with that specific professor, going to her office hours, an awesome friend/study group, and of course, the super smart, supportive, and attractive Silas, she improved a lot. Really though- it’s because of Simone’s own determination and deciding Law is really what she wants to do and not just on a whim that made it happen.
Overall, I liked the story. This is really more than a romance book between Simone and Silas. It’s about Simone and finding herself. Sometimes juvenile and stuck in her own head, and has a woe is me attitude but I understand her actions.

What a great romance book. It is a quick read, with loveable and witty characters. I read this book in a day and didn’t even realize I was reading so quickly! The author did such a great job giving each character a distinct voice with great personalities. There weren’t any extra unnecessary characters or details that didn’t push the story along. There was a reason for every word in this book and that makes me appreciate it even more. The romance didn’t feel rushed, and I could genuinely feel the attraction between the two characters. Above all, what I loved about this book even more was the fact that it is SO relatable. I know that not everyone will relate to it the way that I did, but I too left my home state and went to law school in a different state. I left NY to go to law school in California. Everything that the author wrote about law school was spot on; how tough it is, the types of professors you’ll find, the gunners in the class, and especially feeling inadequate. It brought back so many good (and not so good) memories for me! I was so excited to read this book, and enjoyed it so much, that I am sort of sad it has now ended. I would love to continue the journey of the characters in this book, with a follow up book!
Thank you to Kristen Alicia, Entangled Publishing, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
So the cover is really cute. But this book just wasn't for me. Which is okay, not every person is going to like every book. I just felt this book fell flat. It was cute and fluffy, but I couldn't connect with the characters.
This was such an enjoyable and fun book! I really enjoyed reading the story of someone in their 20’s who completely changed their life in such a crazy way. I liked the storyline and the characters (would have loved to read this book in a double pov). Can’t wait to read more work from this author ☺️
First off; thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the premise of this book. I LOVED the idea of someone in their mid 20s realising that their job isn’t for them and then deciding to study something completely different after consulting a magic 8 Ball.
But it fell flat. Which is a real shame because it started off so strong. I liked the characters of Simone and Silas but there was too much indecisiveness. We knew they liked each other. They knew they liked each other. Everyone knew they liked each other. So why couldn’t they get it together? It made the book feel much longer than it should have been. Also the comedy should have been hammed up a bit more. It’s law school, it’s a dry setting. But there were still plenty of opportunities for this book to be funnier! This book did provide some cute moments though and when it was cute, it worked.
I wish there were more scenes of Silas trying to one up people in the classroom. Those scenes were very entertaining to read. I also wish the dramas that happened meant something. The dramas themselves felt tokenistic. The best character in the book was Professor Patton. I LOVED her character development and she was very much the highlight of this book. She had a strong character and an even stronger voice. Frankly, if there was a whole book written about Professor Jessica Patton I would love to read it. She can school me any day!
The character of Keith was a throwaway character who really was only there to create some mild tension. I wish there was more Rafael and Tiffany. A book exploring their relationship and dynamic would have been more interesting!
All in all, this book is a lovely debut and I hope to see more of Kristen Alicia’s work in the future. She’s got a bright future ahead of her.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is an sweet quick read. If you like romance reads this is for you
This is a quick, loveable, and witty read, and I would 100% recommend it to any romance reader looking for a fast but enjoyable read.
I devoured this book in less than two days, and absolutely just fell in love with Simone and how she carried herself in this book. The rest of the characters in this book were well-written, diverse, hilarious, and overall just perfect additions to this story. The love interest was the perfect mixture of Midwest charm, steaminess, and humor. This was just such an enjoyable book to read and paced itself to the point of perfection.
This book also had a ton of perfect little similarities to me that I clicked with. One is that the setting is at the college I attend, which honestly made this such a fun read. I loved all the places that it mentioned and made me go, "Oh I know that place!" Secondly, it involves laws and lawyers, which I have been surrounded by my whole life. And while I may not be pursuing to be a lawyer, I still was raised on discussions of laws and court cases. So once again I felt like there were a ton of easter eggs that I found hiding in bushes throughout this book.
Overall a perfect romantic and confident debut that brings in the perfect mixture of romance and plot.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I thought this book was cute and funny. I really enjoyed reading it. The only thing is that the ending was quite abrupt. I was caught off guard and was not expecting that to be the end of the book. There didn't seem to be a natural winding down or whatever of the plot, it just kind of ended? I did enjoy it; I enjoyed the characters and the author's writing style.
This was such a fun story! I've never read anything mixed with lawyers or law school so this felt like such a refreshing story. I also adored the title/concept and the cover was beautiful. This was such an easy read. I was able to pick it up, dive into the world and just enjoy the story. A must read for romance lovers!
Loved the cover and the title! The story was really cute and I enjoyed the characters and their development.
This book was such a cute, sweet and easy read. I really enjoyed the story and the characters were very easy to love.
I want to thank NetGalley and the author for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This was definitely a cute and easy read. Simone is 26 and decides on a whim to change her career completely from chef to law student. She meets a cute boy almost immediately and the story takes off from there. I was a little annoyed in the beginning because I was ready for Simone and Silas to stop playing already, but I can appreciate the development of their relationship. I really enjoyed Simones' quirkiness and I loved Silas even more. The characters are likable and the story seemed to flow naturally from start to finish. I personally like my romance to be a little more *sexy?* but I'm not complaining. I give a 3.5 rounded up, and would read more from Alicia in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Kristen Alicia for providing me with an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly really enjoyed this book! It took a little while to get into it but once I did I really enjoyed it! Silas was a likeable book boyfriend and I also kinda loved Patton in the end!
A funny and sweet read . Simone quits her job as a chef and goes back to study as law student . She meets new people , she been struggling with a certain teacher and she finds love where she didn't expected it .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own .
I loved that it was cute and fluffy and a quick read. I also adored the legally blonde vibes. However, the whole romance felt cringe and I didn't vibe with the writing style.
Very quick and cute read. It's one of those realistic romance books where the progression of events and relationships feels very grounded and realistic. It's well-developed and an easy read.
You should read this if you're in the mood for Legally Blonde vibes, the Elle Woods vibes are strong with this one. Solid 2.75 stars.

Summary:
After quitting her job at a restaurant, Simone Alexander decides to go to law school on a whim. Unprepared for the life of a 1-L, she faces difficult professors, a completely new city, and her burgeoning relationship with Silas, a fellow student and her neighbor.
My review:
I requested this book based on the premise that it was similar to Legally Blonde. I'd say this book was somewhere between Scott Turow's One L (which I read for a legal culture course I took as a freshman) and Legally Blonde. It features all the highlights of the 1-L year: getting acquainted with the Socratic method, tough professors, the immediate rush to figure out your summer internship situation, etc. I believe the author Kristen Alicia is an attorney so you know it's pretty accurate take on law school.
Regarding the romance portion of this book, I thought Simone and Silas were cute together. They're people in two pretty different life stages (he's like 8 years older than her? which did surprise me), but they worked well together. I thought the progression of their relationship was pretty accurate, especially for people in school. That being said, the romance was not always the focal point of the story. A lot of the plot was taken up by general friends stuff (new friends, maintaining relationships with old friends, the necessity of study groups in law school, etc.), as well as you know, the law school portion of law school. I appreciated the details the author provided about law school curriculum, as well as Simone's evolving relationship with Professor Patton (your classic "bitchy" female professor who actually isn't) throughout the school year. However, because of the relatively serious subject matter (making it through law school, which is no small feat), the romance and humor often got lost in the fray.
Where the plot did get a little less serious, it couldn't really follow through on the humor. For example, there was a charity auction where law students were auctioning off dates. The potential for a lot humor was there, but it didn't quite.... get there, if that makes sense.
The sex:
This book has one closed-door sex scene, and a couple kissing scenes.
Overall:
This book wasn't quite for me, perhaps because I was expecting a little more humor and romance, but if you're looking for a quick, light read about young adults (new adults?) trying to find their purpose (or maybe you're an aspiring lawyer trying to get a feel for law school), this is the book for you.
