This sequel was WAY worse than the first book in this series. Was pretty boring and I had to drag myself to finish it.

This is the second in a series…it focuses on a woman that has lived 10 years in an abusive relationship and a man that has always had a secret crush on her. He is in the military and comes home injured. She has the courage to get out of her abusive relationship and start a new life. They are both going through a lot but take a chance on love.

It’s their second chance romance. It also jumps back to the previous couple from the first book. The books are using the same exact timeline but just different point of views.

This one has some sweet moments and was much more realistic than the first book. Overall three stars for me. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the ARC!

3.5 stars rounded to 4. This is the same as book one just Gloria’s/Aldo’s POV. I would’ve appreciated it more had I not read them back to back. I’ll read a book or 2 before reading #3.

Thank you Net Galley & to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the eARC of Finally Mine by Lucy Score in exchange for my honest review.
Lucy Score has once again proven herself as a master storyteller in the romance genre with "Finally Mine." This captivating novel takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster filled with laughter, tears, and a whole lot of love.

The characters in Finally Mine are incredibly well-developed, each with their own quirks and flaws that make them feel like real people. The chemistry between the protagonists, Aldo and Gloria, is electric from the very beginning, and Score skillfully weaves their love story with a perfect balance of passion and tenderness.

One of the standout qualities of Score's writing is her ability to create a vivid and immersive setting. The small town of Benevolence is charming and full of colorful characters that add depth and richness to the story. It's a place readers will want to visit, and the sense of community is palpable throughout the novel.

What sets Finally Mine apart is the authenticity of the emotions portrayed. The challenges faced by Aldo and Gloria are impactful, and their journey to love is heartwarming. Score doesn't shy away from exploring the complexities of relationships, making the story feel genuine and resonant.

The pacing of the novel is impeccable, with each chapter leaving you hungry for more. The dialogue is sharp and witty, injecting humor into even the most poignant moments. It's a testament to Score's talent that she can seamlessly blend humor and heart, creating a story that stays with you long after you've finished the last page.

Finally Mine is a feel-good romance that reaffirms the power of love, resilience, and second chances. Lucy Score has delivered a delightful tale that will leave readers smiling and believing in the magic of true love. If you're a fan of heartwarming romance with well-drawn characters and a charming setting, Finally Mine is a must-read.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was sweet, heart-warming, and impactful. The depiction of domestic abuse is handled well but could be difficult to read at times. I loved the yearning and wanting of the MMC through the years. His guilt hurt to read. I could feel his guilt radiating off the page. I really loved the empowerment of the FMC. If you loved Things We Never Got Over, you will love this! It has small town, swoony hero, crime sub-plot, and found family. The book was a little long overall but this is Lucy Score's classic length.

I was a little upset and disappointed by this one. For one, it was too much of a repeat of storyline from the first book in the series. And then how did no one ever help Gloria? I found this part of the plot was a bit gaping hole that made it hard to read. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for read and review

Finally Mine is a Lucy Score return to Benelovence book. Gloria Parker and Aldo Moretta fell in love during Pretend You’re Mine (Luke Garrison and Harper Wilde), but now you get the true full story of Gloria and Aldo. Read how they fall in love, but fight it, because life is scary and there are no guarantees when the heart is engaged.
Moving on from a bad relationship is never easy and Gloria spent ten years being told her ”worth”. Aldo was deployed, came home a hero, but lost part of his leg during the war. How can two wounded people heal and be ready to move on to the next step in a relationship? Read Finally Mine and find out.
All of Lucy Score’s books are highly recommended by me. Finally Mine has an extra recommendation because it’s Benelovence and I love this town and these characters!

3.75 stars!

I really enjoyed Gloria and Aldo's story in "Finally Mine," a he-falls-first love-after-abuse romantic drama. Lucy Score's banter and depth mix together to create two excellent main characters, as well as great supporting characters in an interesting small town. Aldo and Gloria both have their baggage, but they come together in a seamless way that makes you root for them both together and separately. I enjoyed watching Gloria transform into a strong, capable woman, and I also liked seeing Aldo redefine who he is post-accident in Afghanistan. I like how they leaned on each other for (reluctant) support. I liked peeking in on Harper and Luke once again, seeing things from Gloria and Aldo's perspectives. The spice is also good in this book. This is not my favorite Lucy Score book, but it is a good one. It is a bit too long, and it does border on trauma p0rn, but it's not so relentless that it's unreadable. Please check the trigger warnings as this book contains some very difficult subject matters.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Score, and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for my review.

You will laugh, cry, and fall head over face for Gloria and Aldo. And the evil rescue kitten. Also the four-letter-word-loving, commando-going Mrs. Moretta who's just in it for the cookies.

She did not disappoint!!!

Gloria has just escaped a very toxic relationship and she’s finally free. Now she’s trying to heal the best she can and make the most of her new lease on life. When Aldo Moretta enters the picture with a kiss and a promise to take her out when she gets back it seems like things are finally going her way. But he’s injured she has to step up if she wants a real shot at healing for both of them.

Okay so this might be my least favorite Lucy Score book, however, the bar is high for her books so even as my least favorite this one was still a great read. I had a really hard time getting past the fact that no one ever got involved. Especially the hero who was supposedly pining for her the whole time. And I know in real life this happens and I get that it just made it hard for me to fall for the MMC knowing that he never stepped in to help while she was being literally hurt.

At the end of the day, though this book was about timing. They were always meant to be endgame and everything they went through eventually brought them together. This was a well deserved HEA that gave me all the butterflies.

“I think you might be the girl I’ve been waiting my whole life for. But I want you to see who I see. I want you to remember what it’s like to be you.”
I first read the Benevolence series when it was first released independently by Lucy Score. I can say with utmost confidence that Finally Mine stands the test of time, and this Bloom Books release of Finally Mineshouldn’t be missed by newcomers to Lucy Score. Set in a quirky small town, Finally Mine is equal parts military romance with PTSD themes and childhood crush to lovers transformation romance.

The main character, Gloria Parker, is a survivor of a long-time abusive relationship. This means that there are a lot of references both on and off page that depict the kind of abuse that Gloria was subjected to while in her relationship with her abuser. While this subject matter is triggering for some, I was able to read on with the confidence that Lucy Score is an author who delivers on a great romance, and addresses abuse and PTSD in a healthy way. Gloria finally finds the courage to leave her abuser and then, step by step, make a new life for herself that isn’t beholden to anyone but herself.

“Nothing happier than the sound of champagne being uncorked.”
Aldo Moretta is the man who waited for over 10 years to get his shot with Gloria Parker. He was two years older than her in school but lost his chance with her his senior year in high school. This missed chance meant that Aldo flung himself headlong into college and then the military, deployments, and honing his athlete’s physique to tip-top form all while juggling his career and becoming a partner in a successful local business.

Knowing he has a deployment coming quickly, Aldo lays his plans out for Gloria in a way that ensures he doesn’t spook her, but she understands that he’s playing the long game. Aldo knows that Gloria needs to live on her own and work through her demons while he’s away and he’s prepared to give her the space she needs to do that, if she understands that he’s not going anywhere. It’s those best laid plans that always go sideways.

“Most of my ugly scars are on the inside, and I’ve presented every last one of them to you. You’re still here. I think you owe me the same chance. Show me your scars, Aldo.”
Aldo returns early from his deployment with an injury that’s both physical and emotional: a lot like how Gloria still needs to work on her emotional and mental wounds from her abusive relationship. Gloria and Aldo’s transformational journey is a lesson in the importance of mental health care. Learning to lean on someone after being hurt is a lesson in trust as well.

I love Lucy Score’s small-town stories. The surrounding characters, the storylines, and her HEA’s always deliver for me. There are a lot of heavy themes in Finally Mine, but if you’re in the mood to be transformed with the main characters, then I think you should definitely read this wonderful romance.

This one did not do it for me AT ALL. One, having read the first book, this was just another perspective of the events I already knew of— for a book of over 400 pages, that is a bit boring and repetitive. I also just felt like all the characters irritated me— they were immature, flip-floppy, and flakey. They either were perfect or broken. No one had any nuance. I have enjoyed some of Lucy Score’s other books, but this one was just a tough read to get through.

This book has already been released prior but has been updated and w a discreet cover. This is the second book in the Benevolence series.
If small towns, romance then grab your comfy blanket and settle in. You will laugh and cry. With Aldo and Gloria.
