Thank you to the author, Kennedy Ryan, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, and NetGalley for giving me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book will be published on June 27, 2023.
I liked the plot a lot better in this one compared to the first book. There was a lot more going on, made the plot a rollercoaster, and didn’t feel as stagnant.
The romance still lacked for me though. I think I just prefer more depth and moments between the characters that leave me swooning. Anytime the MCs had a moment alone there was spice, which don’t get me wrong I LOVE spice and in their circumstances you could expect it, but I just wanted them to have some genuine conversations, spend time together that wasn’t related to the plot, and not spicy.

I loved this so much! I am so glad I got to read this immediately after the cliffhanger from the first book. I don’t want to give any spoilers but A LOT happens in this book!! I was mad and sad and happy. Kennedy Ryan sure does put her characters through the ringer. But don’t worry. We get out HEA!

Love daddy maxim in this book. The way he loves and supports Lennix is beautiful. He can be too possessive at time but Len shuts that shit down every time. Kennedy Ryan is amazing at her craft and I’ll likely read every book she’s ever written.

WOW! Usually sequels aren't this good, but this book just blew my mind. These 2 books were just superb! They were more dark romance than contemporary romance but they were just out of this world amazing. This one had more suspense since the last one left off on a cliffhanger. Everything comes full circle. I don't want to give too much away but it was just done so well as usual.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review as always all words are my own.

THE REBEL KING lived up to the hype of the first one in the series, THE KINGMAKER. Kennedy Ryan always knows how to up the stakes and write passionate and intense stories that have you unwilling to look away from the page. I find that the author addresses and tackles darker subjects such as trauma and grief in a realistic and honest way that adds emotional depth, while bringing awareness to the heavy topic of the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women. The author's love stories are always so much more than romance novels.
Maxim's love for Lennix is so intense that he feels he needs to protect her at all times, while Lennix is an independent spirit who can't be coddled. They must learn how to navigate and work out this huge obstacle in their relationship. How will they compromise and will they compromise? I love Lennix and Maxim's connection and how their story unfolds and ends.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Bloom and NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for my thoughts.

This book dives straight back into the action and it was nail biting!
I love the couple and their dynamic. Good spice.
This book was slightly more heavy on the politics, which isn’t my particular interest but I still wanted to see how the couple faired as I was so invested after book one.
Thank you for the E-ARC, this is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

This was the second book in the All the Kings Men series and it was a good follow up, but I think I preferred the first book overall. This one did get a little deeper and had some things happen that definitely made it more emotional. Not my favorite Kennedy Ryan, but still a solid 3 star book.

Kennedy Ryan has not missed once in the 4 books I’ve read of hers.; she has an innate gift of writing deep and well thought out characters and stories that MATTER. This book was just so good. SO GOOD. It had me stressed and on the edge of my seat, while also swooning over Nix and Maxim. I loved that there was so much plot and character development, along with Lennix and Maxim’s love story. They’re both such strong and independent characters, and they are the perfect match for one another. I love how everything came full circle at the end.

Great book! I normally don’t like political books but this one was amazing! I am glad maxim and Lennix finally got their happy ending added almost a decade. It was a great story and I hope there will be another book for them or with the other characters.

What an extraordinary journey. What an incredible love story. Kennedy Ryan has truly outdone herself with the epic conclusion of the All The Kings Men Duet. From the very first page, I was strapped in and ready for takeoff. I found myself on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and even holding back nature's call, so engrossed was I in this captivating tale of Nix and Doc.
The prose in this book leaps off the page with stunning precision. Kennedy Ryan's writing is flawless, effortlessly mesmerizing me with the undeniable connection and intoxicating love shared by this remarkable couple. With each turn of the page, I found myself craving more, unable to tear myself away from their story.
Nix continues to astonish me with her unwavering strength, which she draws from both her own inner resolve and her heritage. It is a beautiful and captivating experience for a reader like myself, who has limited knowledge of Native American history. Doc, on the other hand, remains the commanding force he has always been, but now there is more at stake. He gives his all, just like Nix does. Together, they are a powerhouse couple with unwavering dedication and strength, perfectly complementing each other.
Their journey is nothing short of monumental, both in terms of their growth as a couple and as individuals. They are each other's constants, finding solace and an undeniable need in one another. I reveled in every single moment shared between them. Their love is incredibly addictive and passionately intense. The connection they forged when Nix was 17 and Maxim 24 forever changed them both. Now, in their early and late thirties, they know exactly what they want and are unafraid to claim it.
The Rebel King has it all. It combines suspense, humor, and steam in perfect harmony. It serves as the flawless conclusion to the All The Kings Men Series Duet. Kennedy Ryan's talent shines through, and it's no wonder she has won the prestigious RITA award. She possesses an extraordinary gift for storytelling, and with each new novel, she surprises readers with something unique and captivating. The Rebel King is a testament to her brilliance, with impeccable prose and an overall story that is nothing short of spectacular

4.5/5⭐️ I don’t know how Kennedy Ryan did it but she pulled it off. This books has it all!
- epic romance
- steamy love scenes
- important social/political issues
- a little tearjerker
- tense family dynamics
- badass, girl boss FMC
- smart, protective, hot MMC
…and it was beautifully written.
“The past is behind us. The future is ours. Figure out how you can change the world right now, and don’t fear it. Do it.”
In The Kingmaker we get to see Lennix and Maxim fall in love and be torn apart. In this book we get to see them supporting each other unconditionally. Honestly, I just want someone to love me like Maxim loves Nix. This book didn’t really end up going in the direction I thought it would but it still turned out to be a great as the first.
My only complaint is probably really nit picky but considering it happens often throughout the book I felt rather glaring by the end. I don’t understand why Lennix “sobs” every time she and Maxim make love. Once or twice is like “yeah I guess loving that deeply is emotional” but every time is like “girl, you should probably talk to someone about that.”
Aside from that one thing, I loved this book. I cried, I swooned, I raged, I giggled. Kennedy Ryan wrote another amazing book.

WHAT A JOURNEY, So sad to be saying goodbye to Lennix and Maxim 🤧 but also loved how the duet concluded.
Nix and Maxim were some of the most strong-willed characters I’ve ever read. I don’t think I was quite used to this particular dynamic but I was living for it anyways. I thought that the plot and spice were just about equal- which is saying a lot because these two were veryyyy passionate. 🥵 I’m convinced Kennedy Ryan writes some of my favorite smut.
Although I missed reading more about Nix’s Native American roots/background, I was kinda on board with the American politics. Maxim’s views in particular made me love him even more. “I think her views should be considered not un-American but pre-American. They were here first. This was all theirs. We stole it. The implications of those wrongs are still being felt. And I think we get patriotism twisted a lot.” & that’s on what? PERIODDD.

“I wouldn’t ever let that happen.” I press our foreheads together. “I would have moved heaven and earth, bought heaven and earth, to get you back.”
I walked into this book expecting a romance and got a beautifully crafted poignant book with commentary on politics, race, and of course love.
Kennedy’s writing is lyrical and beautiful, I really enjoyed the authors writing style and pacing. This book picks up off a cliffhanger and the speed does not slow down.
The romance was so heart warming and just everything you want out of a good romance. Our mmc is the perfect book boyfriend. We love a dedicated I’ll do anything for you type guy.

Phenomenal. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC. Ms. Ryan’s pen, is nothing to be messed with, the story is phenomenal with enough spice!

4.5 ⭐️, 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I’m so sad to be done with Lennix + Maxims story 😭😭
This book picked up right where The Kingmaker left off! My emotions in the book were all over the place, and heart ripped from me and little by little pieced back. KENNEDY RYAN HOW DARE YOU MESS WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THAT🥹🥹🥹.
The undeniable steamy chemistry between Lennix + Maxim was EVERYTHING. they both undergo so much emotionally/physically/mentally from their past to current scenarios and still through love see each other as they are and support each other at all costs. My heart hurts but I loved this real + raw love story.
All the behind the scene research that went into this book to make it is, just truly a beautiful duo-logy!
Thank you NetGalley + Bloombooks for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

"We weren't unlikely, Nix" ... "We are inevitable"
The Rebel King is the second book in the All the King's Men series and it concludes Lennix and Maxim's story. I was eager to start this book since the first book ended on a huge cliffhanger. I was not sure what to expect out of this book because for the most part, Lennix and Maxim are already together. I am happy to say that the passion and connection I felt from them in book one was just as intense! We see a lot of Lennix and Maxim butt heads a lot because of their personalities but they always talk through it. There are always there for each other even when they have differences and I appreciate that so much! There was also a lot of suspense and trauma in this book. Something happened around that 50% mark that was very devastating and seemed to come completely out of nowhere so just be prepared. If you loved the The Kingmaker be sure to read this one too because you won't be able to get enough of Maxim and Lennix!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the ARC in exchange for a review!

I loved the first book in this series and I really love this one even more! Kennedy Ryan has became one of my favorite authors. One of the greatest love stories ever written (in my opinion).
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the arc of this book.

Really enjoyed this emotionally thrilling, sweetly sexy and suspenseful adventure filled with interesting and engaging charters, witty dialog and heart racing twists. Highly entertaining and exciting journey from beginning to end.

“we weren’t unlikely, nix.” i say, no levity in the words. “we we’re inevitable.”
i liked this one a lot better than the first. it's still not good i mean it's not bad, but it's not that good either. I'm just not a fan of this duet at all, which is disappointing as i've really enjoyed kennedy ryan's books so far, but this isn't really my cup of tea.

Another phenomenal love story that goes beyond a warm and fuzzy happily ever after. I could feel every emotion that the characters were feeling throughout this entire book, and yet I still wanted MORE.
Also, we need more politicians like the MCs brother 🥺
