This duology was the first from Kennedy Ryan I read and I was immediately obsessed. The first book is the political romance of my dreams and then the twist! I had to start The Rebel King immediately and I’m so glad I was buddy reading this one. You will need someone to talk to! This had some twists I did not see coming and I was shocked. But the romance between Lennix and Maxim? SWOON! The Rebel King is an angsty, steamy page turner. I loved this book and The Kingmaker so so much. 5 stars!

You will like this book if you like: possessive men, suspenseful beginnings, sad middles, chaotic ends, Native female leads, and American politics 🇺🇸👑
🚨 CW: kidnapping, gun violence, death

I would like to start by saying that this hands down a 5-star series. I read the Kingmaker and the Rebel King back to back - and this is the way I would recommend enjoying them. Do not read them as standalones! It simply doesn’t do the story justice. Together, they are action-packed, tension-filled perfection.
The Rebel King is a great read, and fans of the TV show ‘Scandal’ will devour it. It follows the second part of Lennix and Maxim’s story as they continue to fight through obstacles, reaching for their happily ever after while simultaneously trying to change the world for the better. There is action, drama, twists, and lots of ~spicy time~.
This book is interlaced with so many important themes, I hardly know where to begin. To have a FMC that is so strong, and who has such a rich, deep connection to her own culture who advocates unapologetically for her people and MMIW…it took these books to a whole other level. I loved that I picked up a book simply because it was by a romance author that I enjoy, but I got so much more out of it than just romance. It delivers perspectives on environmental racism and social activism, with Olivia Pope style political "behind the scenes", and at the same time is interlaced with Kennedy Ryan's ever poetic way of writing spice. What more could you ask for?

Kennedy Ryan you are amazing . I thoroughly enjoyed this duet so much. I couldn’t put these books down . Book Holy hangover . Book 2 picks up right were the first one ended I thought the rebel king plot was the perfect ending to the duet it kept me interested through out the whole story. I sometimes find reading other series that I get bored and just want the story to end . Not with with Maxim and Lennix’s story, I just didn’t want it to end

If it were possible to give a book a double 5-star rating, this would be the one. The Rebel King isn’t just well written, well researched, well thought out, and well executed—it is a literary masterpiece. Although this book is a romance, it’s themes involving politics, kidnapping, and espionage aren’t ones that are usually a draw for me, but the beauty is that the author masterfully weaved a tale that makes you enamored with every facet of the story. So many elements made this an otherworldly read—Their strong disposition and the unabashed way they expressed their stances. They’re fight for what’s right, against what’s wrong, and for each other. The pride and pain of their realities. The laughter and grief that was parallel yet carefully intertwined. All of these things were thoughtfully and thoroughly delivered. Still, the romance was not sacrificed because it was the epicenter of it all. The passion between Maxim and Lennix is so intensely fiery, you’ll combust from lust and love. Nix is a darling badass to be adored. Maxim is everything and all the things and a platinum symbol of book baes! Indeed these characters are ones I’d love to continue to follow, wherever it leads, wherever they take us.

I was so excited I was able to read the second one in this series! They first was so good and I couldn’t wait to read the next! This one was nothing short of wonderful!! I highly recommend reading this one only if you’ve read the first one!!

ARC - DNF -
Due to the fact that romance authors are now paying $2000+ to TikTok creator WHO DONT READ THE BOOKS, I will no longer read or review any romance on any platform. Funny how when bookstagram found out no authors spoke up, or spoke about netgalley and bookstagram reader review for years without pay. So sorry to this author but this is just one in many review that will be going up.

After reading and loving the first book in the series, I be couldn't wait to read the second book. This one fell a bit flat for me. The middle of the story felt a bit slow. I found myself not as invested in this storyline.

Unfortunately I DNF this book about 60%. It staterted interesting but somewhere along the way I found the plot boring and the storyline like I've read it before. Once I lost interest I could not get into it and I really tried to continue reading. One of the reasons i requested this book on net galley was because this duology had great reviews and it was highly recommend but it was not the book for me.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC

Roller coaster of emotions combined with a great and unpredictable plot, with a touch of spice.
From the very first page, the pacing and suspense are on point. This book picks up right where the Kingmaker ended and immediately draws you in along with the characters. I love that Lennix is such a strong female main character. Maxim’s level of being an absolute alpha hole is a bit too high for me, but that just has to do with my preferences. This story also has a strong plot, it’s a lot more than just the spicy scenes. There are also a lot of quote-worthy lines in there. You’ll definitely want to read this book right after you’ve finished the Kingmaker, it's a perfect sequel.
Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.

THIS BOOK WAS SOOO GOOD! i really enjoyed getting to read the love, passion, and chemistry these too had! i also loved how this book had a great plot which made it much more enjoyable! i also really liked seeing both of them develop and grow together!
overall, this book was SO good and i 100% recommend! all opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an e-arc to read, rate, and review
Another amazing work! Kennedy Ryan is truly amazing!
After we the cliffhanger from The Kingmaker, I had to get my hands on this. I promise it won't disappoint!

Kennedy Ryan does it again! This sequel is everything I hoped it would be. I love Maxim and Lennox's relationship. Their passion, fire, & respect for each other is a once in a life time kind of love. Kennedy Ryan writes the best characters and story lines. So sad their story is over but I can't wait to read this again and AGAIN!!

The Rebel King continues directly where The Kingmaker left off. Lennix and Maxim are reunited and continue to face more challenges.
I gave this book 3 stars for a couple of reasons. I don't like how the timeline of this book is stretched so long. This is the second book of a series and it has already spanned over ten years. I found it unnecessary along with many events that take place in this novel. The events were extreme and did not seem believable. The author is constantly adding obstacles for this couple, which I did not enjoy. There were also no romantic gestures. Overall, I didn't like this book and I would not recommend it to others. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

A great follow-up to book one with twists I did not see coming in the story. I skim past a lot of the sexytime parts of these books but I like both of the characters and the overall plot line.

OMG spice!!! Kennedy Ryan knows how to bring it! I absolutely loved this romance. Can't wait to read more from her!
*Thank you @read_bloom for the copy in exchange for an honest review.*

this is my first Kennedy Ryan book and omgggg have I been under a rockkk? the spice was perfect and the story line wasn't lacking at all. I found myself actually caring about the story line which is how you know the author is doing a great job.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for this Advanced Readers Copy of The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan!

This book was super cute . I feel like there was a lot of great character growth . Ugh the devastation of Owen really broke my heart and i did get misty eyed. My heart goes out to Millie. I think as far as writing, Keene was a very good villain. The moment that Lennox had with Maxims dad was beautiful. This book gripped my heart and was devastating. Love Lennox and Maxim. I can't wait to read Kimbas story.

This book was not at all what i expected but WOW. i loved it. this is actually my first kennedy ryan book but you best believe i'll be reading more. i know this is the second in a duet, so i'll be reading the first one very very soon. i loved the love story how compelling the characters were, but also how soft and vulnerable, yet powerful and possessive Maxim is. I also felt like i was learning more about the Apache Nation while reading. i felt kennedys writing is a commentary on the current state of the world. Kenny's writing is engrossing and captivating, yet talks about the hard stuff.
