Okay, HOLD THE PHONE, what did I just read? WOW, this was a riveting FAST paced book that left me wondering , it was twisted as F and I was here for all of it! 5 stars
Wow so this book sent me down one path then turned it all on its head. I really struggled to like some of the people in this book but felt sorry for the mother and her child who had become pawns in a really nasty story of jealousy.
Talk about a plot twist!
This story about a young married couple raising a young daughter while working to keep the family arm afloat will leave you asking how well do we ever really know our spouse! The story is craftily told through two different points of view which add to the suspense.
I never saw the twist coming! While there were a few loose ends and things that didn't completely add up, the suspense made up for it. I couldn't put this one down.
What did I just read?
Talk about a plot twist that I did not see coming.
My mind is blown. I had a pit in my stomach the entire read.
Happily Married is a jaw-dropping thriller about Natalie and her husband Jake who live on a beef farm with their daughter Elsie and are experiencing financial and marital problems. To relive the stress of money, Natalie rents out a room to a boarder, Kara a young beautiful woman.
With the new arrival of Kara, Jake becomes more distant and cold towards Natalie, suspicious and dangerous things are happening on the farm. Dark and old secrets are being unraveled.
Is Jake having an affair? Is Natalie losing her mind?
Nothing is quite as it seems.
I loved this book, the writing was so good. I enjoyed reading all the different pov's not exactly knowing who's it was and just going on assumption but once that plot twist hit I gasped and had to go back and read those passages again. Bravo for that twist!
I highly recommend this well written novel, it will keep you on you're toes the entire time and then still throw you for a loop.
This was a first read for me from Victoria Jenkins but it will not be the last, looking forward to reading more.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Victoria Jenkins for the arc!
The plot twist in this book made me have to stop reading for a second! The first half starts slow but once the twists come they don’t stop. Always love Victoria Jenkins books!!
Natalie and husband Jake run a beef farm inherited from her parents, helped by their childhood friend Tyler. They have a three year old daughter called Elsie. For some time Natalie has felt uneasy about her relationship with Jake. Far from being the caring husband, he seems distracted and has little time for her. Deciding to rent out one of their rooms for extra money, Natalie interviews Tara, a young woman who works in IT. It isn't long before Natalie notices how Jake and Tara are in each other’s company, and fears the worst. At first, Natalie appears to be worn down by all her responsibilities at the farm, but she turns out to be quite a feisty heroine. The writer certainly puts her through some awful experiences. Jake is awful and it's clear he cares very little for his wife, although he adores Elsie. Tara's arrival certainly makes an already difficult situation worse and I was interested to see how all this would play out. I was not disappointed. jaw dropping twist was an understatement! One moment the storyline appeared to be going in one direction and then everything was turned on its head. I have to say it was totally unexpected.
Happily Married is a novel which draws you in, pulls you along and keeps you on board until you reach the last page. It ticked all the boxes for me and is well deserving of five stars.
I would like to thank Netgalley, Bookouture and Victoria Jenkins for an ARC of Happily Married in exchange for an honest review.
Natalie and Jake live on a farm with their daughter Elsie and decide to take in a lodger as they are having massive financial worries. In comes Kara and soon things start taking a dark turn, just who is she? and why does she want to be lodging in the middle of nowhere? Secrets soon begin to come out and it makes you question what you thought you'd read in the first half of the novel!! Would love for this to be made into a film/ tv series!?
Many thanks for letting me read this and have already been recommending to friends and family can't wait for more from Victoria!
“My husband is keeping secrets. I’m watching his every move…”
Ms. V. Jenkins totally achieved her goal of the reader having a ‘what did I just read?’ moment. I sat there thinking “whaaaat?!” with my mouth hanging open. Very clever writing.
The first part of the book is slower. It really picks up and the second half of the book moves along like a freight train. It has you totally rethinking what you read in the first half of the book. This addictive thriller has twists and an unexpected plot twist to the point you don’t know who to trust. The setting on a farm, away from town, added a creepy aspect. There aren’t many characters but it is a little confusing for a bit whose POV it is at the beginning of chapter changes.
I would definitely recommend, especially if you enjoy books that throw you for a loop. This was my first novel by her and I look forward to reading her others.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Wow! This was a knock out thriller!!!
So many twists and turns I had whiplash from how much my head was spinning.
The moment of the big twist I had to reread what I just read and had to take a big “what the heck” pause.
Everything you’d hope for in a thriller.
Thank you netgalley for allowing me to review this book
The arrival of Kara turns Natalie and Jake's lives upside down in this twisty tale of secrets, Natalie thought it would help their financial situation to take in a boarder but it turns out to be a very bad idea, Very bad - except that truths will finally come out. No spoilers from me. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A page turner,.
From the first page, I knew I was going to enjoy this book, because the writing is so good. The evocative descriptions of the farm and the tense atmosphere between Natalie and Jake kept me turning the pages and when Kara arrived… well!!
Jenkins cleverly alternates between viewpoints so that she can use slight of hand and misdirection to stunning effect. I know it’s a cliche to say that you didn’t see a twist coming but, reader, I did not see that twist coming!
A brilliant twisty heart-thumping read. When I’ve recovered, I’m going to download her others.
Happily Married was very reminiscent of another thriller I read but I cannot put my finger on which on. That didn’t take away from this story though! A very fast paced read which had me finishing this in 24 hours. The twists were very good and the ending left me wanting a follow up book.
As for most thrillers, the characters weren’t my favorite but I think that’s what makes for a great thriller. A husbands secret, a new tenant, and an entire past that will come out. Little Elsie was precious and her mother Natalie is a great mother who trusts her instincts. Having this book set on a 500 acre farm gave for that eerie, out in the boonies feel. All in all, would recommend!
Oh my gosh the twists and turns in this book had me hooked. At one point I had to go back and re read a section because I could not believe it. If your looking for a book that you think is predictable but then totally blown away….read this!
This books starts off slow but hang in there. You will reach the half way point and feel as if the rug has been pulled out from under you as you are shocked as what has happened. You will be on the edge of your seat for the rest of the book hooked as you can't wait to see what happens next.
Natalie and Jake are childhood sweethearts. They feel as if they really know each other. Getting one boarder in their home to help them financially will make their lives unravel.
I really love a book that you have no idea what is going to happen next and a twist that throws you for a loop. A killer that you never suspected and an ending that will have you saying well done Victoria Jenkins. I can't wait to read another book by this author.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this galley.
Jake and I were childhood sweethearts. Strong, dependable and with a smile that melts my heart, he is the perfect husband and father to our little daughter. We have our money troubles - but getting a lodger, Kara, calms the panic I feel about our bills. Jake is reluctant but what choice do we have? I'm relieved that Kara is so sweet, playing endless games of hide and seek with Elsie and settling into our home. But when I catch Jake and Kara sitting close together on the sofa one evening, they jump apart when I walk into the room. Jake promises it's nothing. When I search Kara's room, I know for sure my husband is keeping a terrible secret. And it's much, much worse than I imagined.
With plenty of twists and great characters, I was quickly invested in this story. There are secrets being kept and I never saw the plot twist coming. This is a fast paced, gripping page turner and I could not devour it quick enough. When the truth starts unfolding, it wasn't what I was expecting at all. The story is told from multiple perspectives which can be hard to keep up with. It would have helped if we had known beforehand who was doing the narrating.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #VictoriaJenkins for my ARC of #HappilyMarried in exchange for an honest review.
Now this was a twisty novel. There are so many twists that I had to go back to certain parts to change my perspective and the way I was picturing our characters.
The end was perfect.
Confusing to follow the narratives as no-one really had their own distinct voice. I got halfway through and then gave up as I had to keep re-reading bits to figure out who the 'he' or 'she' being mentioned were. Sorry!
Complicated and confusing. Narrated by different people but to start you won't know who is who.Twists and turns in all directions.
Wow what a wild ride! I almost gave up on this book early on because it seemed like a silly, obvious twist. Boy was I wrong! It took a huge twist that I didn’t see coming! Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend.
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4.
Happily Married is how Natalie and Jake look with a happy little girl. Natalie decides to rent out a room at their farmhouse to a woman she later suspects her husband is having an affair with. Strange things start happening making her question herself. This book kept me turning the pages as I got more invested in the characters and trying to predict the truth. A good read.
