Close Her Eyes is the seventeenth book in Lisa Regan’s outstanding series called Detective Josie Quinn. Lisa Regan is an incredible storyteller and this series proves it. Another crime thriller that is fast paced and highly emotional. A twisted tale filled with secrets, lies and family drama. The characters are well developed, yet flawed but it is very exciting to see them continue to develop with each new addition. The twist and turns are many that will lead you up to that unbelievable ending! The tears will flow in this heartwarming yet heartbreaking story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend Lisa Regan and her Detective Josie Quinn series, you will never be disappointed!
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for another fantastic book to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

Cattle brands on human bodys and the past of Medical Examiner Anya Feist are in the focus of Josie’s latest case. As always the story moves along very quickly, with new developments in almost every chapter.
Josie and her team are working very hard to find the killer and a lot of my favorite characters had appearances in this book. Josie’s sister also plays a role in this case, which I enjoyed.
I struggled with the ending it certainly wasn't what I expected and it wasn't exactly a pleasant surprise. However, it doesn’t change the fact that this was a great read, I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait for the next book, to see what the future holds for Josie and her team.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Lisa Regan for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read and review this book
a josie quinn murder mystery that is sure to get you on the edge of your seats and this one is compelling
as the first murdered person happens to be cattle branded just like josie medical examiner it can only point in one direction and that is the ex husband of anyas....
but evidence never sticks to this family and josie sure has her work cut out for her when another body shows up with another brand and no clues as to why this case would be connected to her first one
and as the stakes get higher josie team is about to suffer a devastating loss
what a ride of a book this one was...and i have to admit to have a tear in my eye at this one
bring on the next book
What a twisty tale this was!
Several young women turn up dead, and it is Josie and her team's job to figure out how they died and what ties them to each other. A good friend reveals something terrible and the shocks just keep on coming.
I love the strong bonds that Josie has with her team.
4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.
This book by the end had me in tears. I still can't believe it. This book as always with Lisa's writing had be hooked trying to figure it out. I got some right but boy was I wrong about others. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Can't go wrong with Josie Quinn!
A thoroughly enjoyable read! I like the story, especially how the murdered girl has a mark on her body, and the mark takes us back in time to Anya's past, and her past becomes present. It gets more personal to the reader this way, at least in my case.
The story flows like a waterfall, the characters are vivid, it is a smooth and easy read, while at the same time being brutal. The story gripped this reader from the beginning, and now I can't wait for the next book in the series!
I love this series! The author combines all the best aspects of a police procedural and a thriller to make one great book. Detective Josie Quinn is called to the scene of the suspicious death of a young woman. During the autopsy, the Medical Examiner discovers she has something unexpected in common with the victim which puts a whole new spin on the case. The more Josie and her team investigate, the more complicated the case seems to become, with possible connections to seemingly unrelated murders. One of the best parts of this series is what a strong character Josie is and how well she and her husband Noah work together on the job and support each other both on and off duty. Josie's twin sister Trinity, who hosts a true crime television show, is also involved in the investigation and it's nice catching up with her.
I started this series with book five and for the most part, each book stands alone. However, Close Her Eyes will have more of an emotional impact for returning readers, and fair warning - that impact is HUGE in this one. There is more sadness than usual, and although the hopeful ending doesn't completely make up for it, it does help! I highly recommend this book, which I rate 4.5 stars, and the entire series.
I received an advance copy of this ebook from NetGalley and Bookouture at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
Thank you to #Netgalley and #Bookouture for my copy of #CloseHerEyes by #LisaRegan
Loved it.
This is the 17th book in this series and they just keep getting better.
When a body is found of a young girl there are no visible signs of injury but during the autopsy she is found to have been branded like cattle.
When Anya lifts her top she has the same brand burnt into her by her husband 10 years ago.
She divorced him and ran but has he found her, Is this a warning that he is coming for her, and can Josie and her team find out what is happening.
A digital copy of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and Bookouture. The opinions are my own and freely given.
#17 in the Detective Josie Quinn series
All the characters you love are back in this new installment. And if this is your first-time reading Josie Quinn, you will fall in love with them.
The discovery of a body at the bottom of hill leads Josie and Mettner to think there could be foul play. When the medical examiner, Anya, sees no visible signs of injury she leads them to wonder. But once Anya has the girl on the table, she calls Josie almost in tears and requests Gretchen another part of the team to come to the morgue. There Anya shows them what she found during the autopsy and shares her past.
Trinity, Josie's twin sister, who is a reporter is investigating a new case for her TV show. Some of the things she learns from Trinity appear to line up to her current investigation. The team then dive into a previous accidental death in a neighboring city and all things go astray from there. Josie finds herself in the emergency department 3 days in a row. But she won't stop until she discovers what happened.
Josie and her team unearth many, many layers of lies and abuse. From the prominent figure of the city to his son.
This story was action packed, there was a car chase, that ended in disaster. A foot chase that ended in disaster, and a gun fight, that ended in disaster. I couldn't stop reading this book and it actually brought tears to my eyes. Just thinking about Mett's handcuffs makes me still tear up. You'll understand.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan.
My review is already on the following websites: Bookbub, Goodreads, Librarything and StoryGraph. I will be posting to Instagram on 5/01/2023.
The little burg of Bly belies its name. It’s not bland or bourgeois, but riddled with secrets that Josie Quinn is determined to crack.
I put on my sleuthing hat and was along for the ride with the team. There are a lot of moving pieces: branding, adultery, foster care, murder, lying, control, and loss.
My favorite part was when old softie Chief sings a heavy metal song. I could hear every bad note.
My least favorite part was Regan’s choice concerning one of Denton’s finest, it crushed me.
I may need time to recover from that literary blow, but I’ll be ready for the next JQ book!
I just have to tell you that this book was more than what I expected. I knew that it would be a good mystery, a great crime procedural and include well-developed old friends from previous books in the series. What I was not prepared for was how absorbing the mystery was, how deeply developed the characters were and how detailed the police procedures were. I got to know the characters more in this book, because it’s a deep dive into their hearts and souls. The plot is fast-paced and riveting, dealing with a serial killer who brands the victims and spreads them across several locations. Josie wants to find the person who killed young Sharon Eddy, especially for the sake of the woman’s grandmother who raised her. When medical examiner Anya Feist gets involved personally in the crimes, the story becomes totally unputdownable and gut-wrenching at times. I enjoyed the story but I must say that this is the only Josie Quinn book that I have read that caused me to cry because of what happens. Tears of grief and outrage were real for me, and I credit the author for making me so close to the action and the characters that it was so real to me. I hated the culprits, pitied the victims and sobbed at one special scene that I can’t go into because I don’t want to give anything away. This is a book with all the feels and so real that I had trouble putting it down even after I finished it. Intriguing and addictive, this is the best of the best…and Josie Quinn is the best!

4.5 what’s the connection stars
I love that Lisa Regan writes these books so quickly and they are consistently solid! Josie Quinn and her team have become like friends, and I have followed their exploits through 17 books now.
This book opens with the discovery of a woman’s body near a creek. During the autopsy, a branded mark is found on the woman’s hip. Anya Feist, the medical examiner doing the autopsy is chilled to the core as she also has a mark like this, inflicted by her ex-husband 10 years ago.
As Anya alerts Josie’s team, they investigate Vance Hadlee and his farm, but cannot find any evidence to arrest him for murder.
When another body turns up, things get very tense for the Denton police force. How are all of these cases connected? A true police procedural, this one had twists and unexpected events.
Josie’s twin sister Trinity is also involved in this one as she’s investigating a cold case for her tv show. Could that case be connected to these new murders as well?
This one ends in a heartbreaking conclusion that is all too real. I’m already ready to read the next book in this series!
EXCELLENT addition to this terrific series. Great main characters in this police procedural in a suspenseful & twisty plot keeping you on the edge with bated breath. RECOMMEND highly the whole series for lots of enjoyable reading. Thanks to#NetGally,#Bookouture for #Close Her Eyes in return for my honest review.
A dead woman’s body will bring back horrific memories for one of Detective Josie Quinn’s law enforcement family. The woman was strangled and branded with a tattoo of a horseshoe with an arrow through it. When Medical Examiner Anya Feist completes the autopsy, she contacts Josie as the woman’s tattoo is eerily familiar and may provide Josie with her first lead in the woman’s death. Meanwhile, Josie’s identical twin sister, Tiiffany Payne who has her own unsolved crime show, is in town investigating the death of a woman’s foster sister. A complex mystery that may eventually draw the two cases closer together. When another woman’s body is found, how many more will die before Josie and her team are able to find and stop the killer? I have read and enjoyed this entire series and although intriguing, the blending of these two cases was a little confusing to me. A thrilling ending answers the unknowns, but the loss of a member of their law enforcement family is particularly sad. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Close Her Eyes’, book 17 in the Detective Josie Quinn series written by Lisa Regan, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
The body of Sharon Eddy has been found on the bank of Kettlewell Creek and when Medical Examiner Dr Anya Feist gets her to the morgue she’s shocked to see the same brand that was stamped on her own thigh by her ex-husband Vance Hadlee ten years ago. A second body is discovered and Detective Josie Quinn and her team then find similarities to the previous case of Jana Melburn.
‘Close Her Eyes’ is a well-written and gripping thriller as Detective Josie Quinn and her team are plunged into a complex and puzzling investigation that throws up more questions than answers. From page one I’ve been caught up in this addictive story of murder and devious characters, that has bucketloads of tension, suspense, drama, and twists and turns as Josie and her team put their lives on the line. This is an absolutely fantastic thriller that’s kept me on the edge of my seat, with a conclusion that’s had me gasping with shock and sobbing into my tissue. I can’t praise it enough.
When the body of a young woman is found next to a local creek and the autopsy reveals she was branded shortly before she was killed, Josie Quinn and her colleagues discover a connection to the ex-husband of their own ME, Anya Feist. As their investigation proceeds, and the body of another branded young woman turns up, the team realizes there may be more linking Anya and her past to the current case. Lots of action, shocking twists, enough clues to put things together yourself without being totally obvious, likeable main characters, and a strong, capable female lead detective combine to make this a top notch thriller/mystery.
A thriller in which there are several murders which on the surface don't seem to be connected but the more the police investigate the more threads there are hinting at a link. The big question is how can a murder from 10 years ago be linked to the current murders? The path along the way to the answers reveals small town corruption, betrayal, family secrets, and is fraught with plenty of danger. You won't be able to put this book down.
Exciting action & unpredictable😮
4.5🌟 stars
Loved the Central Pennsylvania small town setting and the indefatigable Josie Quinn, a police detective with drive and empathy. This story had a hounded underdog at the center and his plight really drew me in as I wondered when and how he was going to get justice. Leave it to Josie, her Denton police team and Josie's journalist twin sister to stir the pot on a cold case and chase a sadistic killer.
Especially appealing: there was never a dull moment. Dangerous suspects who aren't afraid of menacing the police, an explosive action climax and a final twist I had guessed all wrong, helped make this one an exciting, heart-in-the-mouth read.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
This is book #17 of the Josie Quinn series. Whilst it can be read as a standalone book, I would recommend reading the books in series order. We are back with the Denton Police Force where Detective Josie Quinn is leading the investigation into the murder of 19 year old Sharon Eddy. I've followed the series from the very beginning and Quinn is an amazingly strong character who, over the series of books, has endured grief, heartbreak and trauma which would break most people. The storyline begins strong and straight into the action with the discovery of a body, and continues with a shocking and emotional storyline involving Denton's very own medical examiner, Dr Anya Feist.
The author takes us on a twisty-turny tale with lots of characters to suspect of being the killer. The usual characters from the series are all back to help with the investigation, and we are introduced to an array of supporting characters that manage to make the storyline that little bit more unsettling and sinister! I loved trying to work out who the killer might be, but the author kept this reveal close until the right time, leaving with many dead ends throughout. The location added to the suspense of the book, with the little town of Denton becoming more frightening as the series moves on, not helping with the amount of serial killers it attracts!
The book was gripping and held my attention throughout. I have to admit that I do prefer UK based crime, but I do hold a soft spot in my heart for certain US authors and their books - this author and series is definitely one of them! The storyline held my interest from the first page and as I turned the page I could feel the fear, suspense and tension which was being built up throughout the story! A shocking and emotional instalment to the series, but let's face it, Quinn and her team are no strangers to lots of shock and emotions!! Love Josie Quinn and love this series! Cannot wait until the next book! Would definitely recommend!!
Another great Josie Quinn story. I really like the characters in this series. Twists, secrets, this thriller has it all. I did not like the ending!!!
