This was a really fun story! I haven't read the others in the book and was still able to enjoy! I bet that if I had, it would only elevate my experience. I really enjoy detective stories. I feel like you are really able to get into the mind of the character and unravel the story beside them.
Seriously, if you have not read this series yet, what are you waiting for? Detective Josie Quinn is my favorite female detective. She's the Olivia Benson of the book world. We're at book number 17 in the series and it just keeps getting better.
Nineteen-year-old Sharon Eddy was found beside Kettlewell Creek and at first the detectives aren't sure what to make of her death. There aren't any obvious signs of trauma, so they know they will need to leave it up to the medical examiner. When Medical Examiner Anya Feist calls with the results, they are shocked to learn that she has been branded in the same way Anya was by her ex years ago. Soon another body is found and the team starts to wonder if Anya is in danger.
This is another shocking story that I found impossible to put down. Another favorite book in the series for sure. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
Still loving this series, it is such a great series to recommend and get readers hooked on. So easy to get so invested.
Looking forward to more.📖📖👏👏
What a fast paced thriller of a story!
Talk about diabolical things going on!
Talk about appalling family secrets!
As usual, I was pulled in from the first few pages! I couldn’t stop reading until I finished the book! Pretty much read non-stop late into the night.
Without leaving any spoilers….I was left in disbelief and sadness with the story. But, one thing that happens was a total shock.
Lisa Regan’s writing is always solid. I look forward to each new book she shares with us.
The ending is a huge surprise.
Highly recommended series!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
"Close Her Eyes" is a thrilling addition to the Josie Quinn series, in which Detective Josie Quinn is once again thrust into action, leaving behind her plans for a night out with her husband and sister as she investigates the brutal murder of a young woman found dead by Kettlewell Creek. As the investigation deepens, Josie uncovers a shocking link to a past case involving the Medical Examiner, Anya Feist, who also bears the same mark as the victim. The author skillfully weaves together intricate and unpredictable plots that keep readers on the edge of their seat, culminating in a cleverly crafted mystery that will have them guessing until the very end.
Readers will be delighted with the exceptional character development in "Close Her Eyes," as the author masterfully crafts each character with subtlety and nuance, allowing readers to form a genuine connection with them. Josie Quinn, the series' main character, is a tough and relatable detective with emotional depth, while supporting character Anya Feist is a strong and determined medical examiner with her own past traumas to overcome. The characters are revealed through their actions and personalities, making them all the more relatable and real.
While some readers may find the lack of action in the first half of the book a drawback, the author's realistic writing style draws readers into the story, immersing them in a world of detailed and expertly explained murders. The attention to detail adds to the authenticity of the story, and the author's ability to balance the intense investigation with the personal lives of the characters creates a gripping and emotionally resonant story. "Close Her Eyes" is a must-read for fans of crime thrillers, with its exploration of the nature of justice and the intricacies of human relationships.
I have read some books in this series before. The characters are so well developed and the plot is fabulous, with nothing as it seems. I honestly would have liked to read these from book one through.
Detective Josie Quinn is back in another addictive story. That sees her pulled away from an evening out with husband Noah and twin sister Trinity. When a body is found beside the Kettlewell Creek.
A body later identified as nineteen-year-old Sharon Eddy. A beloved granddaughter. Who worked at the local animal hospital and was loved by everyone she met.
But was it foul play or an accident?
That's what Josie needs M.E. Anya Feist to tell her.
What she doesn't expect is to learn a lot more than just Sharon was murdered. Because Sharon was branded and so was Anya ten years ago by an abusive husband. Whom she fled in terror.
Only Josie, Noah, Mett and Gretchen can't find any connection between Sharon and Anya's ex Vance Hadlee.
But they do find a connection to a case where Vance lives in Bly. A connection Josie's sister Trinity is investigating for her TV show.
However, they soon have their hands full when another body is found, dumped and branded in the same way as Sharon and Anya.
But when the victim is identified, their investigation takes a deadly turn as all leads circle back to Bly and Trinity's investigation.
And with big twists, shocks, and surprises Close Her Eyes was a story that had me glued to my Kindle and constantly guessing! And it's a story that I would one hundred percent recommend to others!
Another page turner in this gripping and very addictive series. Original plot with well developed main characters. Full of misdirection and a real workout for the grey matter. This book and this series have everything I expect from a good crime thriller and so much more!!!!!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.
Another great read by Lisa Regan. The always enjoyable Josie Quinn is like an old friend. So easy to fall into these stories and they just never disappoint. Full of secrets, lies and lots of twists.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
I binged this story in one sitting. It's that good! It is like a tangled web where mystery, intrigue, and murder are interwoven. I spent the first part of the book trying to figure out the culprit and how it all fit together, but then I gave up and just enjoyed the story. The characters are well developed and varied, with some not as good as you thought and others not as bad. Josie and her team have a close bond and it comes across. When her case and the one her sister, Trinity, is looking into collide, things get even more convoluted. There are twists and turns up to the very end. Any book that leaves me trying to figure out how I missed all the clues to discovering it all, is a definite must read. There is a sad part to the book, but it ends with hope and love.
This is a great crime series and this one will definitely have you hooked.
Josie is called after a young woman is found dead by the creek. When the post mortem is carried out, Anya is shocked to see a mark on her skin from a cattle brand. She also has this mark from her ex husband who abused her, so immediately calls Josie.
Vance is arrested but with his father having influence in the area, he’s soon released. They are both horrible men and I really wanted them to get their come uppance.
Another woman is soon found murdered but Josie and the team struggle to identify the killer.
Trinity has been working in a case linked to the recent murders but all the pieces just won’t fit together.
This is an action packed crime thriller which really had me on the edge of my seat.
A great series overall and one I’d highly recommend.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I am a sucker for a good Lisa Regan book. Lisa Regan writes intriguing and exciting stories with solid characters that feel like friends.
There are so many "whoa" and "what?!" moments in Close Her Eyes (Detective Josie Quinn Book 17). And there was one scene where I screamed out, "Noooooo." Close Her Eyes is a heart-racing crime thriller and mystery novel by Lisa Regan.
I always love the covers of this series.
When something bad happens in real life, people normally have the response, "It will be okay," but I loved the reply in this book of it NOT being okay but that they will survive what happened.
I love the relationship between Josie and Mettner and how they work together. The whole team is portrayed well in how they interact. The revelation about the medical examiner, Anya, and her past is a great scene. I had to take a break for a bit after one particular scene of something that happened. It was sad.
This book definitely left me wanting more and had a very surprising twist. And, yes, at the end of the book, the author states there will be more!
I would highly recommend reading this book and this series. It has such fantastic storytelling with great, flawed, relatable characters.
A 5++ out of 5 stars.

Brilliant, nail-biting read. The plot is engaging and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
When the body of a young girl is found with no visible injuries, the sickening truth of what had happened to her, discovered via the post-mortem, sends shock waves through the team as a link is made to one of their own. More bodies and a complex plot, with lots of twists and turns follow until it's all tied up. Or is it?
Excellent twist that I never saw coming reveal the real culprit
The characters are well developed and relatable and the developments in the subplot are shocking and heartbreaking. As we leave Josie and Noah at a possible cliff edge in their relationship all we do know is that this series has so much more to give and I cant wait to find out what that is.

Josie Quinn returns to us from Pennsylvania with her 17th mystery in her detective series. Have enjoyed them all but this latest Regan novel is a heavy duty suspense novel of the best kind. Josie and her husband, Noah, are called to the scene of a murder by a creek in the country. After all the processing, they find the homicide victim was a young female who had been tossed down the hill into the water after being beaten. This woman will be the start of working older crimes and more new ones. Each brings more info on the slayer. Ms. Regan re-introduces us to Josie’s twin sister,Trinity who produces a True Crime series on TV. The duo work on solving the cold case as well as the trio of recent manslaughter cases.
Close Her Eyes will be published by Bookouture on May 3, 2023. I appreciate their allowing me to read and review the 17th book in Lisa Regan’s Josie Quinn Detective Series, truly an excellent, edgy novel that never stops. Her fans are always waiting for the next chapter in Regan’s series. This is well worth the delay, a page turner that never stops. Close Her Eyes is an outstanding mystery. Don’t miss this one!
This is my first Lisa Regan book…now I need to go by all of her other books!
I really enjoyed all the twists, turns, level of detail, suspense and action in this story. I was exhausted for Josie after everything she went through.
These characters are fierce, determined to find the truth and loyal to one another.
I really had to focus because there were so many things going on but Lisa tied the story up with a lot of emotion…sadness, finality, moving on and new beginnings. The ending had a couple of twists I did not see coming which led to a fantastic reading experience.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC. My opinions are my own.
Josie Quinn has a complicated life and the newest in this excellent series doesn't give her any breaks. I thought it was a little slow at first but then it picked up and the story took off. Josie has had a lot of sadness and poignancy in her life and we see more of this. This isn't the best of the series, but it's a solid story and I feel like the characters are old friends. You can read this as a standalone, but the series is so good and Josie and her friends/coworkers have experienced a lot of change and growth so I think the books are best enjoyed read in series order. Also, Josie has a somewhat complicated back story with what happened to her husband, mother, sister, etc
I have come to expect a lot from this series. All of the previous books I’ve read have been 4 and even 5*.
As the novel opens, a body is found by Kettlewell Creek in Denton PA. Upon examination it is discovered that the 19 y/o victim was strangled. What is most telling however is that the victim has been “branded” on her hip by the killer. ME Anya Feist is horrified as it is the same “brand” that her ex-husband, Vance Hadlee, marked her with just before she left him ten years ago.
Josie and her team find themselves head to head with the powerful Hadlee family. They have had a lot of influence in the town for generations and many crimes have been made to disappear, or at least sentences reduced. However multiple sweeps of the Hadlee land and property do not turn up any evidence involving this murder.
At the same time Josie’s twin sister, Trinity, is working on a podcast of a past crime in Denton. Similarities to some past cases has the team scrambling to find clues to connect the past and present cases. Lots of puzzle pieces that don’t fit together!
Surprisingly there is little action in this book until the halfway point and then again at the end. It wasn’t enough to hold my interest.
There were simply too many characters and too many cases, present and past to keep track of. I really dislike when I have to write down a list of characters for multiple storylines – none of which come together easily.
This book also did a lot of “telling” instead of “showing”. In the end all of the connections are explained to us, not my favorite type of closure.
There are definitely entertaining parts of the novel – I loved the camaraderie that the team shares and how well they work together. We do continue to learn more about the main characters which is always a good thing!
If you are a fan of this series I would encourage you to try this one, you may enjoy it more than I did.
I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher through NetGalley. It was my pleasure to read and review this title.
Wow! This was another awesome installment in the Josie Quinn series that took me on a twisty ride and had me reaching for a box of tissues before it was all over.
Just like every other book in this series, it was fast-paced, full of twists and turns, and I flew through it. not wanting to put it down until I reached the last page!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Close Her Eyes by Lisa Regan that I read and reviewed.
This Josie Quinn book is another on that you are going to need a box of tissues for at the end because Lisa Regan rips the heart of her readers out at the end of this book and a day after reading the book I still can’t wrap my mind around why she had to do that to us.
As for the rest of the book. The story was very fast paced with a lot of twist and turns and a number of surprises that the reader learns. I loved that we got to learn so much about Dr Feist the medical examiner and her back story. I never would have guessed that her life was as interesting as it played out to be in this book.
I had a small glimmer of who killer was in the back of my mind before the end of the story but it was on heck and a painful ride to get there this time. Regan gave her readers one hell of a journey in Close her Eyes.
This book gets five out of five stars.
Another fantastic book in this series. A complex murder, fast and furious and a tinge of sorrow. Read it in a day.
