This was another good mystery in Lisa Regan’s Josie Quinn series with the murders of two young women, a cold case a nasty, vindictive father and son who get away with a lot because they are the biggest landowners in a small town. So why didn’t I enjoy it as much as usual?

For me the plot seemed overcomplicated with too many threads and I felt we weren’t shown enough clues to start pulling the plot together until all was revealed in a rush at the end. There were also a lot of secondary characters, with were poorly developed ,which is unusual for Lisa Regan, but made it hard to remember who was linked with what.

Despite these misgivings, there was still a lot to like about this novel. It was good to learn more about Anya’s backstory and the reason she fled her marriage before coming to Denton and for her to find some resolution by the end of the novel. It was also good to see Josie and her twin Trinity spending more time together and finding a link in the cases they are investigating as part of their jobs.

The plot is intriguing, starting slowly as Jose and the team struggle to find who could have murdered a young woman and left a horrible mark on her body. The suspense ramps up several notches in the second half as all the pieces start to fall into place. There is an event towards the end of the novel that will sadden fans of this series as well as a surprise decision by Josie that will delight many.

The plot was meandering with too many characters that marred the suspense. The middle part of the book was very slow with characters just thinking things round and round. The police work was inadequate with more emphasis on emotional aspect. 3.5 stars.

Another brilliant book in the Josie Quinn series. Plenty of action and very tense the storyline hooks you from the first page. It certainly packs a punch and a few surprises I wasn’t expecting. Although book 17 they are all excellent and this can be read as a standalone I advise to read from the beginning of the series to get all the background but also they are all amazing. Can’t wait for the next book. A solid 5 stars

Close Her Eyes is another captivating, nail biting, page turning book in the Josie Quinn series.

This is one of my favourite series and Book 17 does not disappoint.

Josie , Noah and team are on the case of when a dead body is found by a stream.

Its never straight forward and as they delve into the case things get more complicated and lead to other cases both closed and cold.

Danger always surrounds Josie and her team and but they are resilient and determined to get answers.

The pace is tense, I held my breath , didn't guess the ending and could not put the book down.

That's all I am saying as I dont want to give anything away .

I cant wait to see what adventure awaits Josie and Noah in Book 18. I will be first in line to get a copy.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a nail biting read.

I'm still reeling over this one it was just sublime!

I've followed this series since book 13 which was lucky for me! Lisa Regan is an exceptional author who immerses you in her writing.

I was living this one every step on the way with the characters I was as invested in the outcome as they were and the ending was explosive as it was tragic, I'm already eager to get my hands on book 18 to see the repercussions for the team going forward.

An action packed emotive read deserving on its five stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

WOW! What a book and what an ending. Lisa Regan doesn't disappoint. I love this series and love her books. You never can guess the ending of these books, they are never who you expect. Love it! I just love Josie Quinn and can't believe this is already the 17th book in the series. This book had me crying and my heart beating really fast for most of the book, such an emotional touching story. This is such a great book you just can't or won't want to put it down until you find out all the answers. Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read the ARC. I can't wait until the next one and hope it never ends.

Oh what tangled web we weave. The suspects were many, and the puzzle pieces were complex. A young woman's body is found in a stream. When Josie and company start investigating, they realize this case may be tied to a cold case that oddly enough is being investigated by Josie's twin sister, Trinity. Trinity is an investigative journalist who digs into cold cases trying to warm them up with new clues. The case gets deeper and more complex the deeper they dig.

Medical Examiner Anya Feist is a supporting character in this series. When she is examining the body she gets a shock when she finds a brand on the young woman's hip. It is a cattle brand identical to the one on her own hip which was placed there by her abusive ex-husband that she escaped from many years ago. There is something dark and dangerous going on in the town of Denton and surrounding areas. There are wicked and abusive men, coverups and corruption. The emotions that I experienced went from disgust to anger to sadness to a feeling of satisfaction with a hint of sadness.

Regan does a great job of building the characters in this series. Every book I read is like visiting with a group of old friends that I want to catch up with. Josie Quinn is one of my favorite fictional characters. If you like a great mystery/police procedural, you will enjoy this book. The mystery was very deep in this book and will leave your mouth agape. My hope is that Lisa Regan continues to write the Josie Quinn books. They just keep getting better and better. Every mystery is fresh and interesting.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

WOW! This one set me on my butt after it sucked me in, turned me around, made me cry and spit me back out. This story was like a ball of yarn all twisted up with each pull showing a different color. It pulled emotions every which way and left me crying. There is a little humor in the beginning but will not sustain you for long. I was totally surprised with the perp and thought it would have been another. No not the bad guy, but someone completely different, only because they had means. I love when I am wrong . I have not read every book in this series, I think I have read about 6. I can categorically declare I will be reading the ones to come. I would highly recommend when you start this book you set aside the time to do nothing but read this as you will want to finish it once you start. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #closehereyes #detectivejosiequinn #lisaregan #bookouture #netgalley

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A death ruled accidental, a homicide that brings back past demons… there are so many twists and turns in this book. Josie’s Quinn and her team are at their finest. This book brought out all the feels, I screamed out loud and I cried but I could not put this down. A must read crime thriller.

Close Her Eyes is my first novel by Lisa Regan. It is number 17 in the Josie Quinn series that certainly can be read as a standalone. The story is well written and easy to follow.
While I enjoyed the police jargon, procedures outlined and the general premise to the story. I found it moved at a slow, repetitive pace that curbed my enjoyment and desire to continue in many instances. I would have enjoyed more twists and turns of the story to liven it a bit.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this author from Netgalley..

This book is well written and has a good plot and excellent characters like the rest of the series. However, the police action isn't very good this time, even if the result is emotional. And please don't use CPR on heavy bleeders, you'll only empty them out faster.

Where do I begin?? This is the 17th installment of the detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan this one was heartbreaking like really heartbreaking and incredibly sad. This might be my new favorite in the series. I am a HUGE detective Josie Quinn fan. Josie Quinn is one tough girl. Lisa Regan has a way of making every Josie story fresh and gives enough background of the characters that you could read it as a stand alone but I wouldn’t recommend because you would miss out on every one of these incredible books. This author has a way of growing a character and watch her evolve overtime. I sobbed at certain points. It was a touching story. This one was fast paced lots of action and twisty!! I hope this series never ends! I couldn’t put this book down.

Lisa Regan once again delivers a stunning addition to the Josie Quinn mystery series. Every book in the series is outstanding, but this one packs an extra punch that caught me completely off guard. The book hangover from this one is real.

The Josie Quinn series is my all time favorite and this one was no different. Lisa Regan did not disappoint. I need a couple days to recover from this one!

This series revolves around detective Josie Quinn and her team in Denton. Each book details a new case and this one was my favorite case to date. This quote from the book sums it all up perfectly: “we’re gonna need one of those cork boards with the yard pretty soon”. Without revealing any spoilers, the way this case came together at the end was incredible. I did not see it coming and that’s why I love these books so much!! Already looking forward to book 18.

Another very good read in the Josie Quinn series which can easily be read as a stand alone. Josie and her team are investigating the murder of a young woman who turns out to have a strange connection to the Medical Examiner. it's fast paced with plenty twists and an unexpected, but sweet, ending. Fans will definitely enjoy the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Rating: 5/5

What else can I say? I am a huge Lisa Regan fan. After reading the Josie Quinn series for so long, I feel as though the characters are family to me, but Close Her Eyes offers so much more than just a great plot. I was filled with a real sense of emotion while reading. As the action increased, for example, I felt my hand cover my mouth. When I was confronted with a sad situation, tears streamed down my cheeks. Unlike any other thriller author I've read, Lisa Regan's writing touches my heart. Although the Josie Quinn books work well standalone, I love every book in the series and highly recommend them all.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for sharing this wonderful book with me. I appreciate your kindness.

What a story! I’ve read all the books from this series and this was one of the best. Josie Quinn is a police detective in Denton, Pennsylvania, who had a hard childhood and still suffers from the abuse she endured. The author does an amazing job of describing Josie’s thoughts, as well as her feelings for her husband and her co-workers. It’s nearly impossible to correctly guess the villain much before the end of any of this series. This book has lots of drama along with some sadness and lots of surprises. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I suggest reading all the books in the series in order. I’m so glad there’s going to be a #18! . I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

No, no, no - not an ending I saw coming and decidedly not one I wanted to bring to a close the 17th installment of this very entertaining series. A few other surprises were in store near the end as well, but this one is a doozy.

Other than that observation, upon which I will not expand, I'll say that books in this series stand pretty well on their own, although I do think it helps to have read at least some of the others first (I've had seven on my Kindle in addition to this one). The focus is on Denton, Pennsylvania, Detective Josie Quinn and her very competent team. As this one begins, she's at home with her twin sister, Trinity Payne, Trinity's boyfriend Drake Nally (an FBI agent from the New York City Field Office) and her husband, Denton police Lt. Noah Fraley. After dinner, Josie gets a call from another of her team members, Finn Mettner, explaining that a woman's body has been found along nearby Kettlewell Creek.

During the initial inspection by Medical Examiner Dr. Anya Feist, it's discovered that the woman has a cattle brand on her hip - a horrifying sight that terrifies the good doctor for an equally horrifying reason: She's got an identical brand on her hip, inflicted by her former husband from whom she ran away to Denton (and has been on edge ever since wondering where and when he'll find her). Problem is, there's zero evidence tying Anya's ex-husband, or his equally mean father, who's somewhat incapacitated by a stroke, to the new murder.

Trinity, a TV journalist who does stories on unsolved, or questionable, crimes, is in Denton to gather more information on a different case. When a second woman's dead body turns up - with that same brand on her hip - the action starts to heat up and, not unsurprisingly, so does suspicion that the story Trinity is working on has ties to the current murders. But suspicion isn't proof, so Josie and her team keep digging despite the threat - which too often extracts physical and mental tolls - until the exciting conclusion that includes that unforeseen, and most unwelcome ending. I have to say I enjoyed this one a teeny bit less than most of the others I've read, in large part because a little too much of it just seemed a little too contrived. But I'm also sure most fans of the series will love it (well, except for, you know...) As for me, I thank the publisher, via NetGalley, for once again allowing me to read and review a pre-release copy.

Every one of Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn books is like a visit with old friends. And, you don't want it to end... I read this incredible book so slowly so I could savor it. And, boy is there a lot to take in. What starts as the investigation into the death of a young girl - who is found mysteriously - turns into so much more. There's a tie in with Josie's friend and medical examiner, Anya, and her ex-husband... and just like a thread, keeps unraveling. Josie, Noah, Trinity, Mett, Gretchen and the Chief all play important roles in solving this case and the inter-related ones. The dialog is real and the emotions between the characters are outstanding! This series is one of my absolute favorites! I look so forward to each and every book! A great big thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
