This is the 17th. Book starring Detective Josie Quinn and I can’t wait for book 18. The cases are always unique and full of twists involving all of the team.
This story puts Medical examiner Anya Feist at the front of the story and needing to reveal her back story to the team.
I read this in one sitting and went through every emotion whilst reading it. I love the characters and how they work together to solve cases. Each member of the team has their own back story which adds to their depths.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Close Her Eyes, the seventeenth novel to feature Detective Josie Quin of the Denton, Pennsylvania Police Department.

The body of nineteen year old Sharon Eddy is found by the water’s edge. There is no apparent cause of death but Josie and Detective Mettner suspect foul play. When the medical examiner, Anya Feist, does the autopsy she confirms that Sharon was strangled, but more frighteningly she has been branded with the same brand that Anaya’s ex husband, Vance Hadlee, inflicted on her ten years earlier. Then another young woman is murdered and the team still can’t link them to Vance Hadlee.

I thoroughly enjoyed Close Her Eyes which is a high octane read with a strong plot and plenty of emotion. You would think that after so many novels with the same characters that the series would pall for the reader or run out of freshness, but that’s not the case. The author has the happy knack of being able to move her characters forward while offering original, exciting plots.

There is a lot to absorb in the novel. The present day murders seem to link back to an old cold case in another county and to Anya’s ex-husband who lives there. It turns out to be much deeper than these seemingly casual links and I was glued to the pages, wondering what would come next. I knew who it wasn’t but I had no idea about the actual perpetrator’s identity. It came as a surprise after all the previous bombshells (and there are many), especially as the motive hadn’t been on Josie’s radar. It’s all very clever, not just in the misdirection but in how the author handles her plot.

There is more trauma for Josie in the novel. Apart from a couple of hospital visits to get patched up there is the loss of a friend. It had me in tears and Josie in a fog of pain and disbelief.

Close Her Eyes is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

This was my 1st dive I to this series and omg, whY have I been missing out on?! This was one of those cleverly written thrillers that keep you guessing tul the end. Obviously I read it as a standalone and loved it as so, so even for newbies like myself these long established characters are still well introduced and you're given and relevant history aswell. For those familiar woth the series then I'm assuming you'll have a much better idea of the character growth and have a lot more invested in them but even after one book, I loved them!! Its a unique storyline and the writing keeps the plot moving forward at a good pace. There's no filler chapters dragging the book down and nothing felt rushed or ridiculously out of left field. Everything was logical and fit perfectly, even if I didn't initially realise that was the direction the story was going in. I will definitely be going back to read the entire series from the start after this one

This book is so good. I am such a huge fan of Lisa Regan, and the Josie Quinn series. I could not stop reading it and stayed up way too late finishing it.
The story line is following three women who were found dead along a shore bank, one from many years prior and two recent ones. The trick is to figure out how they are connected and if Josie and her team can solve not only the new cases, but also the cold case.
With numerous twists and a well-tangled plot, not everything is as straightforward as it seems.
I highly recommend reading anything from Lisa Regan if you are a fan of police procedurals. She is the master story teller!

Close Her Eyes is number seventeen in the Josie Quinn series and while the case stands alone I feel there’s too much history between the main characters that would be lost if the books aren’t read in order. The latest Josie book broke my heart just a bit but was just as twisted and compelling as the earlier books. A murder leads Josie and her team to uncovering secrets about their coroner and links a string of bodies together that otherwise would be seen as separate cases. Danger comes knocking once again as Josie survives my the skin of her teeth as the case twists and turns for show stopping revelations and a shocking whodunnit. Seventeen books in and Josie is still going strong as ever for a page turning thriller that will keep you up past your bedtime and broadside you with unexpected turns. Josie is one of my favorite mystery series and a must read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

Close Her Eyes, by Lisa Regan, is Book 17 in the Josie Quinn series. Being new to the series, I read it as a standalone and it was spectacular! It’s quite clear that knowing the background of the characters would only enhance the reading experience, and I intend to go back and read this series by @Lisa Regan. A nineteen-year-old woman is found dead by Kettlewell Creek, which jars the community. Then, the medical examiner discovers the woman has been burned by a cattle brand; shockingly it matches the one her ex-husband did to her several years earlier. Then another body is found. As Josie and her team race to solve the mystery, danger occurs close to home. The characters are well developed and fully executed, and the story has many twists and turns. Highly recommended!

With thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. My opinions are my own.

Book Title: Close Her Eyes
Author: Lisa Regan
Series: Detective Josie Quinn Book #17
Publisher: Bookouture
Genre: Mystery Thriller
Pub Date: May 3, 2023
My Rating: 5 Stars
Pages: 285

I boarded the Lisa Regan/Josie Quinn train late with book # 10 so this is only my seventh Josie but I call myself a big fan of both [author: Lisa Regan] as well as Josie! BTW: Always has THE best book covers!

This is Book # 17 in the series and although can be read as a standalone, and background info is covered in the first part of this story. Josie Quinn and husband Noah Fraley work in Denton, a small city in Central Pennsylvania. She is a Police Detective and Noah a Lieutenant.

Josie has a twin sister that she has only known about for six years. When Josie and Trinity were
only six weeks old their home was set on fire by a lady name Lila. Josie was abducted and her
parents believed she was dead. However Lila had her and told her boyfriend Eli Matson he was the father of the 3 week old baby. He wasn’t surprised and immediately loved the little baby. Josie thought he was her father and loved him- he died when she was six. Josie was left in the care of her ‘pretend-mother Lila who was a druggie, mean and abusive to Josie. Lisette, Lila’s mother, was aware that Lila was an unfit mother and she fought for and won custody of Josie. Josie adorable her and is still mourns her death.
Trinity had a successful TV show entitled “Unsolved Crimes with Trinity Payne”; which is how Josie and Trinity discovered each other

This story starts when Jeanne Wack and her five-year old son were on a walk; which is something they do every afternoon before dinner. The little boy notices something in the water and tells his mom he sees a lady sleeping near the river. Jeanne checks and immediately called 911.

Josie Quinn and her team arrive at the scene; they find Nineteen-year-old Sharon Eddy who worked at the local animal hospital dead. Her death is suspicious and shocks the Denton community and especially her grandmother who raised her.

When Dr. Anya Feist the Medical Examiner is preparing for the autopsy she finds a burn mark on Sharon’s hip that looks like it was made with a branding iron.
Anya is shocked when she sees the design.
We learn more about Anya’s background. Anya was married to Vance Hadlee, her high school sweetheart but ten years ago, she fled from her marriage as well as her hometown. It turns out Vance was controlling, jealous, and very abusive. The branding burn Sharon has is identical to the branding iron burn Vance gave Anya!

Story gets very involved and a bit complex with a lot of characters. I had a feeling the characters all had a connection.

This story is an emotion, page turner.
As always in reading a Josie Quinn my heart was racing especially in last part of this story. It had me reading as fast as my eyes could focus ~ I had to remind myself to breathe.
When I finished, I sat and stared into space as I had to let this emotional read settle.
However, I soon said ~I cannot wait for the next one ~ yep I want more!!

Another great addition to any Lisa Regan story is at the end of the book.
“A Letter from Lisa’ is always great.
Since Anya was a victim of domestic abuse, Ms. Regan offers resources for support. I love when author’s tackle tough subjects they also offer resources that can help!

BTW: Love the cover. In fact, all the covers in this series are GREAT!

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this great early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for May 3, 2023

Wow!! Totally love this series and as usual Josie does not disappoint. Lisa Regan has developed a character with long lasting appeal and i can't wait for the next

I would give this book 10 stars if I could. If you are a longtime Josie Quinn fan this book will not disappoint. Josie lands a case that centers around Dr. Anya Feist. Dr. Feist has been a longtime favorite side character of mine, so I was happy about this. In order to solve this case we learn a lot about who Dr. Feist was before she moved to Denton. As cases start to pile up, all seemingly related in some way, Lisa Regan takes us back in time to crimes that were committed years before.

I really thought I had this one figured out pretty early on. The twist was a surprise. This book will make you want to hug Anya Feist and then have you in tears of anger a few chapters later. Lisa Regan really outdid herself this time.

There are only a couple authors that I will literally drop everything to read their new book when it comes out and that is definitely Lisa Regan's and her Josie Quinn series. Book #17 and it is just as good as book #1 !!! Such a long great series and still I think to myself there better be more! Josie and her team are back they are on the hunt again to find out who murdered and branded a local girl. As they start looking into there is a link to the medical examiner Anya. Such a great mystery ! LOVE this series !! I will as always be awaiting the next book. Plan to stay up all night reading.

Detective Josie Quinn is investigating the death of a woman found near a creek that first seems like a possible death from a fall; however, the scene doesn't seem to reflect that as the cause of death. Despite the lack of clues, Josie begins to investigate the victim. The autopsy reveals the cause of death as murder and a fresh brand on the victim's hip; this discovery motivates the coroner to reveal her abusive past and how her ex-husband had branded her with the same symbol. The search for the killer becomes intense as Josie discovers a powerful family in the next county with a suspected history of violence. The investigation seems to intersect with a story Josie's sister, Trinity, is following. Plenty of excitement and intrigue keeps you reading until the end.

This is the 17th Detective Josie Quinn mystery. I have read all of them. This is currently one of my favorite series and this book may be the best one yet!

I really love Josie and her entire team. This one kept me on the edge of my seat and broke my heart. This is a definitely a must read!

The entire plot and mystery is well written with plenty of suspense and twists. One thing I have said through out this series is I want to know more about Dr. Feist. Learning about Dr. Feist's past and what brought her to Denton was one of my favorite things about this story.

Thanks to Netgalley, Lisa Regan and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Close her eyes was fast paced to the very end. It was impossible to put down and kept you guessing the whole time. It was a very enjoyable ride and I am impatiently waiting for the next book.

If there is ever a series that I wait in trepidation and anticipation for THIS is the one. The minute that this ARC landed in my inbox, like all others before it, I hot footed it straight to my reading chair, blocked out the entire universe (including the kids, sorry not sorry) and immediately got completely sucked into to the wonder that is Josie Quinn!

How I have to hand it to and applaud the amazing Lisa Regan... how are we already on book #17 and it just constantly wants me not only wanting but craving more and more?

This is the first book in the whole series though that actually made tears roll down my face and have a wobbly lip *no spoilers* and whilst as an avid reader I truly understand that sometimes a series has to have a little shake up, this was one that I was not at all expecting and seriously pulled at the heart strings! I'm not entirely sure it's something I'll move on from until book #18 is in my hands and moving it on for me.

In this installment Detective Josie Quinn and her team are hunting for a killer that leaves a very distinctive mark on their victims... a cattle brand. Not only is that horrific enough in itself but when this branding falls closer to home when it she finds out that the Medical Examiner Anya was also branded years ago by her abusive ex husband Vance. Can Anya relive that trauma to help Josie find the killer?

Close Her Eyes was a real "whodunnit" police procedural thriller that was stacked to the rooftops with twists and turns that had me second guessing the whole way through and shocked, surprised and in awe of the ending. It was that type of ending that makes you raise an eyebrow and go 'ahhhhhh now that makes sense'.

As I've come to expect the pacing was sublime, I could not allow myself to put it down, it had me hooked solidly from start to finish as I desperately tried not to turn the pages too quickly and savour every paragraph.

I always love revisiting the characters through every book and LR does an amazing job of filling you in every time incase you haven't managed to read previous books IF THAT IS YOU I ONLY HAVE ONE QUESTION... WHY NOT????
The characters now feel like family 17 books in and just makes me love them more.

Whilst I do HIGHLY recommend you read EVERY single book in this series I also think that LR has an amazing way of bringing every book together so that they can be read as a stand alone.

I am continuously blown away by this series and will now be sat waiting very impatiently for book #18.

I'm sure you can tell by now that I'm a proper fan girl of this series 🤣

Do I recommend? ✔
Will I shout about it from the rooftops? ✔
Will I question everyone who hasn't read this series as to why? ✔

The highest praise to LR and thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

My favourite characters are back again! I adore Josie Quinn and her gang. This book was no exception. Top notch writing couple with characters that have become family and you have one helluva read. Nail biting suspense and plenty of twists to keep you guessing. A rollercoaster thrill ride as you race through to find out whodunit! This one threw a wrench for me and definitely caused some tears. A great book, even a scary book, is one that invokes real emotion and this one packed a punch, 5 enthusiastic stars

I'm always so excited to delve into a Josie Quinn mystery because Lisa Regan never disappoints! It all starts with the discovery of the body of a young woman. Upon completing the autopsy, the coroner, Dr. Feist, finds an usual and shocking brand on the victim's body. It is shocking in more than one way! It turns out that Dr. Feist has the exact same brand from her life before - when she was a married and abused woman. This book delves into Anya Feist's past life. As usual, the mystery is intricately plotted and keeps you guessing until the end with one twist after another. If you have never read a Josie Quinn book, I suggest you start! Lisa Regan gives enough background that each book can be read as a standalone. However, I'd start from the beginning because this series is so much fun!

Love, love, loved this installment! It was so nice to reunite with Josie and crew. The case was complex and perplexing. I was thoroughly gutted at the end and was ugly crying... not easy to do with a thriller/police procedural. I love these characters and the unique cases that they get stuck with. This was a fantastic installment and I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

Wow! I don't even know where to start. Lisa Regan once again knocked it out of the ballpark with this book!
This is book 17 in the series. Although you don't need to read these in order, as she does a great job of referring back to previous books to fill you in, I would recommend you start at the beginning to learn character development as it goes. This book focuses on one of the characters that's been well known in the series. I love how Lisa develops each character and you learn about them all. This book will leave you turning the pages as fast as you can. You'll may even shed a few tears if you're in love with all these characters as much as I am. You will not be disappointed, definitely a must read!

I am not sure that I am going to recover from this book very fast. I might have to take a day or two to allow it all the space the book has found in my mind to simmer. Lisa Regan’s 17th book could be even better than the first. Her writing makes you feel like an avid spectator in the police office and on the case. Josie and her team caught a murder that is linked to an older crime that her sister,Trinity, is working on. From there the waves of small town government with its rather large dash of corruption continue to crash upon the team until they get a inkling of a lead that changes the cases and Josie’s team’s life forever.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC
