Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc. This is at times a little to critical of the Twilight series, which is over a decade old.
Thank you to Riverdale Avenue Books and to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
I was really looking forward to reading this book. I love the Twilight books and have read them several times and really enjoyed them. I also enjoyed all of the movies, especially the first three.
This book just didn't do it for me. Essentially it is just the cliffs notes version of the movies. I really wanted to like this, but sadly I didn't.
It's been years since I read and then watched the Twilight Saga. I thought this might be a good reminder of what I enjoyed so much about the series but in the end, it did nothing to add to my enjoyment of the novels or movies. I can see how this may appeal to some fans of the series but it was sadly, not for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.
I reviewed The Binge Watcher's Guide to Supernatural a little while ago, which I also received a copy of through Netgalley. I thought that the Supernatural version was fun and interesting, but ultimately not necessary amidst the amount of information online and on fan forums.
This is largely how I feel about The Binge Watcher’s Guide to the Twilight Saga. The analysis of each film is fun to read, and I do like that the author tries to tackle the ways Twilight is problematic (glorification of an abusive relationship, Jasper's confederate past, etc.) though I did believe this was as in-depth as it warrants when discussing Twilight in 2023.
If you are a fan interested in re-watching the Twilight movies though, this might be a fun supplement to your journey!
As a huge Twihard I was stoked to get my hands on this! I was looking forward to reading someone else's take on a series that has been life changing to not only myself but many of my friends.
I've got to say, this was so not my thing. I appreciate all the look backs through the books, movies and characters I love so much. But I felt the narrative to not be something up my ally. Also the link to Stephenie Meyers page is wrong by misspelling her name in it.
I'd love to have given this book I was really looking forward to giving a rave review but I can't.
Pretty much all the information is just a cliff notes version of the series with a bit of personal touches in between.
