The Accident by Gillian Jackson and narrated by Jodie Harris
OMG!!!!!!!! It was Just Brilliant! I loved it. This is the second book i have read by Gillian and I am looking forward to read more books from her.

It's February 2018 and "The beast from the East" is upon us. This is a deadly combination of below freezing temperatures, with torrential rain and flurries of snow that is being swept across the British Isles. Warnings are on the news only go out if you need to............Hannah Graham is married and they have two teenaged children who are just about to start university. Hannah, is setting off for work while her teenaged children have free periods from school and are staying at home in the warmth.

Hannah's day is just about to change when she gets into her car and set off for an early meeting at work!

The roads are very icy and the weather is getting worse all around her..........Hannah is a very good and a careful driver,
But the ice on the road and the weather does not care about that.....................Her car spins, she looses controls! Bang! everything around her moves in slow motion!!!!!! OMG!

Hannah Graham wakes up in hospital, suffering from a life-changing injury – she loses one of her legs and has to learn how to walk all over again but with a prosthesis leg. She has no memory of the crash.

Joe Parker is happily married too Alison. They both set out in the car and is driving down the same stretch of road as Hannah.............Bang his car is hit. Alison dies instantly. Joe is lucky and only has a broken collar bone etc.

Alan Jones is taking his teenaged son to an appointment and is also on the same road as Hannah, Joe and Alison.........He has to break the worst news a parent could ever have.............Their beloved son is killed.

All their worlds come shattered down around them?

Three families have been affected, but who was to blame?

Hannah tries her hardest to remember what happened on that awful day! But, nothing!

As they all struggle to piece their lives back together, Hannah has more bad news. her husband announces he is leaving her for someone else!

How can she Cope?

How can they all cope?

Within this book it showed tremendous courage and strength in all characters and you can really feel for them all.
They all find ways of coping and dealing with the accident.

I highly recommend this book by Gillian. Excellent read!

This book had a good premise, but the plot faltered. I was disappointed with some of the unlikely curves and development (or lack thereof) of characters. Not for me.

This is a story of how the lives of so many people were affected by one traggic Accident and the aftermath of it.
A story of love, loss and hope after a tragedy.

This is enjoyable, very fast paced. The narrator did an amazing job.
Though the story was predictable and some part were repetitive it was still good.
I Recommend this.

Thank you NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for this Audiobook

The Accident was told from alternating POV’s in a third person format. This was fast paced and held my attention. The epilogue brought the story to a satisfying conclusion. I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook of The Accident by Gillian Jackson and highly recommend it.

I had a hard time with this one. I initially was drawn in by the plot but quickly found it to be a bit unbelievable and the development of the relationships to be slightly unnatural and unbelievable. I stuck with it and thought the ending was just okay. I was a bit disappointed by it if I'm honest. I like Gillian Jackson as a writer but this one just didnt resonate with me the way I hoped it would. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley Gillian Jackson and publisher for this amazing ARC.
This is an easy 5 ⭐️ read.

OH MAN! I went through so many different emotions reading this. There were several times when I sat with my mouth wide open because of different characters actions. I could totally see this as a Netflix movie. All the characters were very likable except for one. I’d definitely like to read more of this author.

This was a good book throughout, because you are spending the whole time trying to really figure out what happened. But I don’t love a non-ending and I didn’t appreciate the way this one ended. It felt too abrupt.

The Accident by Gillian Jackson was an engaging and suspenseful domestic drama. It definitely was not a thriller or a mystery as described. Regardless, it was fast paced and kept my attention throughout the entire book. I listened to the audiobook that was well narrated by Jodie Harris. Gillian Jackson did a wonderful job developing the characters in this book. They were relatable and likable for the most part. However, there were some secondary characters that I did not care for. The Accident was the first book that I had ever read by Gillian Jackson but it will not be my last. It took place in England during February 2018.

The weather had proven to be the most severe weather England had seen in decades. On a morning in February of 2018, three unassuming motorists were headed to their desired destinations. None of the motorists knew one another but they all ended up taking the same ramp that fateful day to get onto the freeway. As each vehicle made their way down the ramp, they were faced with the iciest road conditions any of the motorists had ever encountered. Hannah Graham was the first driver to cautiously drive down the ramp. She immediately realized that she had no control of her car on the untreated icy road. Her car barreled into a lorry and came to a complete stop. Hannah would loose consciousness but before she did she watched with horror as another car came full force into her car. She watched Joe and Allison Parker’s terrorized faces from her rear view mirror as they plowed uncontrollably into her car. Another car that met a similar fate that day had been driven by Alan Jones. His fifteen year old son had had an orthodontist appointment that fateful morning. Alan Jones tried to talk his son out of going but there he was maneuvering onto the icy ramp as well. He was driving his son to the appointment when he also lost control of his car and became one of the eleven cars involved in the accident. Hannah Graham ended up having her leg amputated. She had no recollection of the events of the accident. Hannah’s greatest fear was that she was somehow at fault for causing the accident. Her recovery after the accident was long, difficult and emotional. Joe Parker lost his wife Allison in the accident. He was told that she died instantly. Alan and Cassie Jones lost their fifteen year old son on that tragic day as well.

The Accident explored how that horrific accident affected the people that were victims of it. It looked closely at how the victims were coping with their injuries, trauma and losses. These surviving victims came face to face during the inquest. The accident brought these people together where under other circumstances they would never had had the opportunity of being involved in each other’s lives. Of all the people affected by the accident, Cassie and Alan Jones made the biggest and most meaningful contribution to honor the memory of their son who had died in the accident. Cassie and Alan Jones’s son was born with Down syndrome. His love for all animals was his passion. Cassie and Alan Jones created a farm to shelter animals that they dedicated to their son’s memory. It was created out of love and proved to be enjoyed by all that visited it. It was a true tribute to everything their son adored. The Accident was told from alternating POV’s in a third person format. The epilogue brought the story to a satisfying conclusion. I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook of The Accident by Gillian Jackson and highly recommend it.

The Accident was a great read by Gillian Jackson. As they say, a moment can change a lifetime. A sudden blast of severe weather causes a traffic accident, and the effects ripple through the people on the scene, long after it is cleared. Hannah lost her leg and the memories of the event. That leads her to fear that it may have all been her fault. She is anxiously waiting the inquest results and remains home with her husband and kids. Joe lost his wife in the accident that left him injured and alone, which leads to him wanting to take his own life. The Joneses mourn their son and embark on a project that honors him; opening a center for rescued animals. The survivors find their paths crossing and there are consequences that none of them could predict. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Thank you Netgalley for this audio edition of The Accident by Gillian Jackson.

Wow, this hooked me from page one, ripped my apart, and put me back together, fantastic book!

I don't really want or need to go into detail about the plot, the title does it perfectly. This is a story about a huge accident that alters the lives of several people. Some don't survive, some lose those closest to them, and some are irreparably injured. Through all of this, their lives continue to evolve, they find themselves, and they find each other.

Wonderfully written, heartfelt without being too manipulative, it feels like a feel good story that I would happily read in the news.

The weather is crap
Vicious snow is falling
No one can stop it
An accident has occurred
Multiple cars have collided against one one another
Some have died and others have multiple injuries
Broken bones have to be mended along with broken hearts
This is a story of how one accident has intertwined lives of strangers
How they have healed and learned to move on even in the mist of their pain and grieve

The story starts with a multi-car collision in which there are deaths and injuries and then follows a few of the families through the aftermath. Most of the story focuses on Hannah (who is injured, losing a leg) and Joe (who loses his wife) and their path to healing and overcoming loss after the accident. There is also a little look at the Lang family (not Jones; who lost their son) and their work to honor him, and short mention of another man who lost his wife in the accident.
This book was categorized as a mystery/thriller. It is not. The synopsis of the book says "But when the survivors find their paths crossing again, there are consequences that no one could predict..." <spoiler> This would lead many readers, including myself, to believe that there are unexpected twists and turns in this story. There are not, the ending is entirely predictable, sweet, and overall happy for everyone. </spoiler> This book should be categorized as domestic drama or chick lit.
Overall, I thought this book was fine. It was not what I was expecting, but it was fine. For me, I think this was better on audio than it would have been had a read a physical copy of the book. The narration was strong, and I thought she did a good job of moving the story along and in showing emotion.

It was hard to characterize this book, as it felt like it should be a thrilled. Instead, it was a slow, plodding text about characters who barely interact. Too many side characters made it hard to focus on the main characters.

Wow, just wow! The writing and descriptions were amazing, not to mention the narration was flawless! The Author made me feel like I was in the car when it happened. I loved the story and the characters, too. Seven hundred stars out of five.

Audiobook
This was a good one! I really enjoyed it.
The story was interesting and fast-paced. It included no extraneous details. Everything included in the narrative and dialogue contributed to plot and character development. The main characters were likeable. The villains were detestable. I felt for the people involved in the accident. Their situations were so expertly described that I felt their stress and heartache.
Parts of this story were very unexpected and exciting. Other parts were predictable, but they were also satisfying.
I would read this author again.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An accident, many lives intertwined. Loss, death, injury, guilt- How do all these lives weave together?
After a traffic accident, many lives are affected in many different ways. Hannah lost her leg, memory, and is fearful that she caused the accident. She tries to recover. Joe loses his wife, He’s hurt and alone. The Jones’ lose their precious son. They honor him with a rescue shelter as he would have wanted. Was it a coincidence that all these lives have come together?
Jodie Harris has a great storytelling style with fluctuating tonality and obvious character distinction. The pace is good, showing emotion especially during rapid changes. Very enjoyable to listen to and I will search for more books narrated by Harris.
Overall, this book did not meet the criteria of a mystery or thriller. At no point in the book did I experience excitement, thrill, curiosity, or awe. However, it does qualify as a general adult fiction novel.
This book is a good read, so I do recommend it to general adult fiction lovers.

The only word to describe The Accident by Gillian Jackson is ADDICTING. I listened to the audiobook and could not stop listening. I completely binged it.

The Accident is exactly how it sounds. It is about a horrific car accident and follows the lives of three families, and how the car accident changed their lives forever. Hannah was the driver of the car and lost her leg but cannot even remember the accident and is fearful it is her fault. Joe’s wife and was killed instantly in the accident and must figure out life without his only family member. The Joneses lost their teenage son, and the novel describes how they take their tragedy and turn it into something good.

I felt so many emotions while reading this book and maybe that is why I could not put it down. It was heartbreaking, suspenseful, and hopeful all at the same time. I remember having to shut off the book at one time when they were describing the accident in detail, and I was driving in the rain! Although it was marketed as a thriller, it felt more like a soap opera drama than a thriller to me.

A multi-car accident during a winter ice storm called the Beast from the East, causes a string of life-changing events. For some, mourning the death of loved ones, and for one the loss of her leg are consequences of their decision to drive on the icy roads that fateful morning. The intertwining stories of Hannah, and her family, Joe, and Mr. and Mrs. Jones come together to create a bond that would not have been, had it not been for that fateful day.

The storyline is well-developed and kept me engaged throughout. I did not want to stop reading, I wanted to know what was going to happen next. This is not a mystery or thriller (in my opinion), but it keeps you wanting more.

Loved the twists and turns of this book! So glad it had a happy ending, somewhat! This book displays karma, and that some good can still come of something even when it doesn't seem like it! Life changes in an instant! Well written also!

A freak ice storm was the genesis of an accident that was life changing for 4 families. Lives were lost, relationships shattered, limbs lost and there was ever-present guilt….."if only I”.
The story highlights each family and how they were affected by this tragedy and their association with fellow victims who shared this calamity.
An interesting observation is that the author did not portray any of the main characters as angry. They all seemed to accept this fateful accident as just that: and accident and with the appropriate amount of time found ways to keep memories and their lives moving forward.
The anger was reflected in the families of the victims due to circumstances already in place but exacerbated by that random ice storm.
There was the predictable romance but it did not deter in the telling of the story and the reader/listener had an uplifting ending to a tragic moment.
