I had a hard time coming into this one. I did finish and it just wasn’t my style of thriller. Maybe I’ll try again later and see if I change my mind.
Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
With that being said I must be honest. I just thought this book was OK. I kept feeling like I read this one before but I realized the plot just seemed familar because others have been writing the same. I had a hard time getting through it because I was mixing my thoughts with others.
Althought it was written well, others may want to give it a try.
The Woman at Number 19 was a great read. It was a fast paced page turner. It was a little predictable in places but I still really enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my ARC.

Book: The Woman At Number 19
Author: J. A. Baker
Star Rating: 3.5
Trigger Warnings: Mental Illness, Depression, Physical and Emotional Abuse, Neglect, Grief, Loss of family members
The Woman At Number 19 follows a woman named Esther who is a middle aged, sad and grief stricken woman who is suffering greatly from the loss of her husband and two children in a tragic accident just about a year ago! She has closed herself off from almost everyone but has formed a close friendship with a local nurse called Amy who seems to have taken Esther under her wing.
Esther becomes obsessed with the goings on in number 19, the house across the street where she notices the mother doing unimaginable things to her children! What she is seeing across the street on top of everything else she is working through sends her spiralling and we watch on as Esther's life seems to spin out of control!
As the book played out it becomes quite predictable and this is why I have reduced my star rating but for the most part it is a pretty solid psychological thriller that I did really enjoy reading!!

The Woman at Number 19 by J A Baker was a captivating read.
The author drew me into the story within the first few chapters and kept me hooked till the very end.
It was an exciting and suspenseful very well-written and thrilling story.
She has created a nail-biting thriller with entertaining characters that pull you into the story and doesn’t let go till the end.
I thought it was really well paced and the characters give just enough away all the way through to keep you guessing.
Totally surprising plot that is a real page turner. I stayed up late to see how it ended.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Esther lost her husband Julian and two children Harriet and Dexter in a horrible accident one she blames her sister Charlotte for so as she sits in her chair and watches outside her window she sees a mother that she calls Veronica abusing her children. Day after day Esther writes down the events she sees The only visitor she enjoys is Amy a girl who Esther says lives down the street with her mother and her only Olding just see her Doctor Who she completely dislikes. There is so much I want to say about this book but don’t want to give anything away and although some of that I thought was going to be predictable there were still things I didn’t see coming that led to OMG moments and culminated in a great thriller. I found myself not wanting to put the book down and even when I thought I knew what was going on I knew there was going to be a twist I didn’t see coming and I was right I thoroughly enjoyed this book and think it is a definite solid four-star read if not more. If thrillers or your genre then you definitely need to read The Woman At Number 19 by J A Baker, this is my third book by the author and have not been disappointed yet. I highly recommend this book the great reading I received it from Netgalley in BoldwoodBooks but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Thankyou netgalley for allowing me the arc for this title
I'm afraid it wasn't a book which was for me. I found it very hard to stay interested in the story and to pay attention to the story line
This book deals with grief and obsession, and Esther is probably one of the most unreliable narrators I’ve ever followed through a story. If you are a fan of unreliable narrators, I’m positive you will like this book!
The plot is rather predictable but the short chapters held my attention. Also, I pretty much sobbed through the last 60 pages. Great ending too!
3.5 Stars
Though this was a little predictable in places overall it was a pretty decent thriller, a nice quick read and I wouldn't mind reading some more of this authors work.
Spurred on by her own loneliness and a need to make amends for not being able to save her own children, Esther takes it upon herself to watch the woman who lives at number 19..
But when unexplainable incidents begin to happen in Esther’s house, she begins to fear for her own safety.
I am a great fan of this author's work. Her stories move at a great pace, and the characters come alive in the plots. Would strongly recommend this book. You'll not see where it's going!

This book is a fantastic psychological thriller up until the final page. Author, J.A. Baker did a great job of writing about mental illness. A very nail biting story.
Synopsis:
Esther lost her husband, Julian, and her children, Harriet and Dexter, in a car accident and is struggling with her grief.
Her only friend is Amy, a young lady who lives close by and visits Esther to keep her company.
Esther’s sister, Charlotte, also visits from time to time but Esther despises her. She believes that Charlotte had an affair with Julian and was planning to run off with him and the children on the same journey that killed her family and left Charlotte seriously injured.
Thank you to Boldwood Books, J.A. Baker, and NetGalley for the ARC.
I recently read my first novel by this author ‘The Other Mother’ which I enjoyed but admittedly not as much as many other reviewers. I did however enjoy it enough to want to give this author another read so was looking forward to this one.
“The Woman at No19,” is a psychological thriller that deals with grief, obsession, and the blurred boundaries between reality and perception. I found this novel a lot more engaging than my previous J.A Baker read and she is certainly an author I will be reading more of in the future.
Esther is struggling after losing her husband and children in a tragic accident. Now full of grief she is isolated from the world, She finds solace in Amy who she consider to be her only friend, but Esther is full of suspicion and resentment and believes that her sister, Charlotte, had something to do with the accident that took her family away.
Esther becomes fixated on her neighbour and certain that she is causing harm to her family. She feels the need to expose her cruelty and this becomes a big part of her thinking. Esther is an excellent character, full of an assortment of feelings that is making her life unbearable. The plot is cleverly laid out and leads you to believe you can see what is going to happen which just adds to the suspense.
Well paced and full of suspense as the tension escalates I found the pages were turning faster and faster.
This is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into the darkest corners of the human mind and. The excellent characterisation of Esther makes this novel a very entertaining read.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Boldwood Books for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I was surprised by the turn of events! The end truly left me hanging. It makes me wonder if there will be a second book, however, I think I am satisfied with how it ended.
I liked the split narrative. But the book was very predictable and I had worked it all out before it happened.
It was decent, although predictable plot. The chapters were split between Esther and House 19. I appreciated the ARC from NetGalley and the publisher.
Did I find this book pretty predictable? yes. Did I still enjoy it despite that fact? also yes! This book was twisty and pretty dark, and overall a relatively good thriller- albeit it a little guessable.
‘The woman at number 19’ follows Esther, a lonely widow who lost both her husband and her children in a car accident. while she sits holed up inside her home, she becomes more and more confused, while experiencing strange and unexplainable events. she also becomes more concerned, as she falls into an obsession with watching the family across the street, leading her to witness horrible things.
As the story unravels, so does Esther’s sanity. she finds herself questioning her own mind at every corner, and starts to lose herself completely. Esther’s anxiety and unease had me on edge for the entire book! i found this plot to be pretty engaging, and i enjoyed the cliffhangers. if you enjoy a pretty basic thriller, i think you’ll like this one!
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Boldwood books, and J.A. Baker for providing this ARC for me to read and review! All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I found this book slow and a but confusing. I guessed the twist at the very beginning and this made the plot seem drawn out and repetitive
Not the book for me.
3 stars
Esther is desperate and depressed. She has lost her husband and two children in a car accident that also injured her sister, whom she believes was having an affair with her husband. Esther has nothing to do with her days and begins watching her new neighbors across the street. She believes the woman is a danger to her two children and begins to keep a log of goes on so that she can inform the police or social services. Esther suddenly becomes aware of strange happenings around and inside her house and wonders if someone is trying to drive her mad and all she wants to do is watch the woman across the street and help the children. This story is the true definition of a psychological thriller! I thank Netgalley and Bloodhound Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is so weird! I couldn't put it down. We have a widow who lost her husband and children in an accident sometime ago. She has a sister who she thinks was having an affair with her husband, a group of nurses who visit, and across the street a young family with some dark things happening in the house.
Our protagonist watches that family for something to do but she's also losing time and dealing with confusing things.
She is compelling because everything she does makes perfect sense to her.
