I really enjoyed this book. I loved the development of them as a couple and it more so the self development that Peeraphan goes through in accepting herself for who she is, it was socrelatable and such an easy read.
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this ARC.

A really interesting and unique fantasy with a bundle of supernatural creatures and myths to explore. I really liked this one, there was a lot of new ideas I haven't read about in other supernatural fantasies and found it really interesting how they find curses. This is a great start to what will be a new series, I really want to see how Punch and Bennet's relationship will develop, but so far the characters and world building are amazing and I can tell a lot of research went into this. I'm looking forward to reading more.

I really enjoyed this book. The narration was different than I expected it would be, but I still thought it was fitting for the book. The romance was cute, but I would have loved more relationship development. It felt like some scenes were constructed solely to get information onto the "page", which took me out of the story a bit. Thankfully those were few and far between.
I'm absolutely going to pick up the next book in this series when it comes out, and I would recommend this book to anyone that likes paranormal romance or romantasy.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I made it through the first 3 chapters of this book. The premise sounded interesting, but was immediately false. Peeraphan knows she’s magical in some way, it’s not Bennett who reveals it to her, she reveals her supernatural-ness to him. Also, we’re introduced to various supernatural characters very casually, some of whom are dangerous, and our female protagonist shows no change in emotional state for any of it besides attraction. When she basically became a Disney Princess at the end of chapter 3 I was done rolling my eyes and with this book.

The story was great and it was a good listen. Though I liked the narrator, I would have appreciated duet narration on this one. The characters are great and the story was told well. Just when you think all is well, there's more. I wouldn't mind a spinoff with the foxy boys either. Not one little bit. 🥵

ive been really into fantasy lately and this one scratched the itch. it was captivating even if the world building was intricate. the charachters were likable and I never wanted it to end.

This was such an enjoyable read. Drake has delivered a fun and endearing story of myth and love. Of choosing family and friends and facing the truth of ourselves.
I would have loved to have learned more about the kinnaree, but I think Drake has done justice with what is really known about the Bird Princess in Thai folklore.
A nice read to decompress from heavier reads.

Punch (real name Peeraphan) is fully aware that she is an "other" - mortal but not quite human - but she has no idea what she truly is. Then she meets Bennet, who is definitely not human, and she is pulled into his world. This world, functioning just outside of the eyes of other humans in the PNW, is filled with vampires, werewolves, fae, and witches. Curses and magic become a part of Punch's life; she finds herself trying to navigate this world while also trying to understand her feelings for Bennet.
I greatly enjoyed the exploration of mythology and folklore outside of the more common versions - Peeraphan is a kinnaree, a mythological bird princess - as well as the development of Peeraphan's relationship with Bennet's world. I felt the story was generally well-paced and I found the audiobook generally well-performed. However, I did find it confusing that the Consortium for which Bennet works was described as both the Dark Consortium and Drake Consortium. As I listened to the audiobook, I'm not sure if this was an error or a choice of the author. Additionally, I believe I heard a few words pronounced somewhat oddly, which took me out of the moment at times. Overall, I enjoyed the story and would enjoy reading more about these characters and their world.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media, Piper J. Drake, and NetGalley for access to an audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media, NNetgalley and the author for the advance audio version of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.
What a fantastic start to what promises to be a wonderful series based on South East and South Asian Mythology and interweaving some western supernatural concepts into the story.
Peeraphan is given a cursed pair of red shoes and is swept into a world that lies just beneath the surface of human life. A world filled with vampires, werewolves and other types of supernatural beings, and a place she finally fits in.
Peeraphan must face the truth of herself to grasp her new friendships and love in this life, and engage in a fight for her life to keep it.
I really loved Peeraphan's (or Punch's) history and Bennet was a great character as well. Once Punch gets to the manor and meets her erstwhile team,. it's clear that the author has done plenty of world building.
I loved the audio version of this book. I thought it was well read and beautifully paced. I had to spare my blushes a bit, which was funny while vacuuming!
A lovely way to experience a new fantasy series that promises to explore myths and legends I am not familiar with. I am looking forward to more,

This book was ok. Its characters were interesting, The story was reminiscent of others in the genre. A descent start to a new series.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the Advance Reader Copy of Wings Once Cursed and Bound!
This book was a lot of fun! The FMC Punch is given a pair of dancing shoes which she quickly learns are cursed to make her dance until she dies. A vampire, Bennet, who is part of the Dark Consortium, a group of mythical creatures dedicated to reclaiming enchanted objects, had been tracking the artifact and was at the theater when Punch put the shoes on. He whisked her out of the theater when another vampire from a different group attacked. Bennet was gravely injured in the fight but he and Punch manage to make it back to the manor that is home to the Dark Consortium. The Dark Consortium sets to work figuring out a way to save Punch from the shoes while Bennet and Punch fall instantly in love. Punch begins to learn more about her own magic while around the other magical beings.
I LOVED all the different magical beings in this book. It was such a refreshing change of pace. When the group was working together to figure out how to save Punch from the shoes I got some dark academia vibes, which is a favorite trope of mine. It seems like the end of the book was setting up how the group was going to be working more together in the next book and I am excited to see where the story goes.
The narration was good, other than when she said the main character’s full first name it sounded like “Peter Pan” instead of “Peeraphan” which was kind of distracting.

This is an urban fantasy with a diverse twist. The story takes place in just one day, and it's about Punch and Bennett, who meet, get cursed, and fall in love while dealing with supernatural stuff. It's fast-paced and has some fantastic Thai folklore elements mixed in. I liked the cultural aspects, and the plotline was refreshing. I am looking forward to the next one.

This books was a wonderful mix of romance, adventure, and Thai mythology. This is my first time reading anything from this author and it was a pleasant surprise. I was liked the tie-in of fairytales and foklore of other cultures. It was so easy to all into the story. I do wish for a bit more romance, but it was sufficient as I'm a huge fan of having a chance to experience folklore and fairytales in a different way. The narrator was absolutely perfect for this book and helped make the transporting to the world within the book smooth and whimsical. I def give this a 4/5 and can highly recommend this one! Thank you to NetGalley, Piper J. Drake, and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for the chance to review this lovely book. I look forward to the next adventure in the series!

This had an interesting story line and I liked the vampire attributes in the story and how they varied from vampire to vampire. I like that is left open for more stories but also ended in a way that is satisfying in its self. The other creatures in the book were also interesting especially the main character.

The concept of this book is very interesting and I really enjoyed the variety of creatures included in this story; some I already had heard about but some were new to me so that was very fun! I do however feel like the author tried to achieve a ton in one book and as a result, the story and characters as a whole were not as fleshed out as I would've liked. Because of the latter, I also felt less attached to the characters/less invested in the relationships in this book. For example, certain key moments in the relationship between the two MCs felt a bit like just checking boxes instead of the significant moments they were supposed to be. The audiobooks was enjoyable, the narrators did an excellent job and I feel like they did bring the characters to life a bit more, despite the issue mentioned above.
Content warnings: sexual content, violence.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the audiobook ARC for review. All opinions are my own.

I was provided both a print and audio ARC of this book via Netgalley.
I really enjoyed this! It has a huge cast of fantastical and mythical beings that work together to find magical artifacts. This follows Peeraphan aka Punch on a magical adventure after she steps into the famous cursed "red shoes" from the Andersen fairy tale at dance practice. Punch is able to resist the curse of the shoes for a time, but they begin to take a toll on her and no one is sure when she will break. Enter the Dark Consortium and their representative Bennet, who not only wants to collect the shoes but is also interested in protecting Punch and help her explore her not quite human side. Bennet agrees to help Punch break the curse of the shoes and in doing so he introduces her to a world filled with magic, supernatural artifacts, and beings she never knew existed.
I thought this was a fun take on a retelling mixing the Red Shoe fairy tale with a bit of urban fantasy. mythology/folklore, and some paranormal romance. This sets up a solid foundation for the series and I'm excited to see where the author takes Punch and Bennet next. There are quite a few side characters to keep track of, but the main focus is on Punch and Bennet. I look forward to getting to know all of the characters more as the series develops as we only get to know them on a surface level.
This has some mild steamy scenes toward the end. They aren't super graphic and detailed but they aren't closed door/fade to black either. You certainly know what is going on. I actually thought this book was fine for a YA audience until we got to those parts then it was definitely suited for the more mature/adult reader. The romance between Punch and Bennet does develop kind of quickly, but that isn't uncommon in urban fantasy type of books.
I love anything with a mythology and folklore background and I hope to see more of Punch's kinnaree heritage explored and explained in the next book. I haven't come across Thai myths previously and I'd really like to learn more about the kinnaree and the bird princess lore. We get a bit of it in this book, but I hope the author delves more into it as Punch learns more about herself and her abilities as the series progresses.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to more books in the series!

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

This was such an interesting concept and one that I haven't run across before which I loved. There are many of our favorite supernatural beings but some new ones too like Peeraphan being a Thai bird princess.
The romance was great but the story was slower in the middle. Overall though, I enjoyed it and can't wait to continue on in the series.
The audiobook narrator was good. It would have been more enjoyable with a male voice for the male characters.

I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed this story. Usually I am not one for a fairy tale retelling (if you know the original story, it kind of ruins the current one for me), however, I keep reading them in hopes of getting one that surprises me. This was one of those rare occasions and I am so happy for it.
Drake did an amazing job at flawlessly weaving multiple fairytales together to create something that feels like a retells but not quite. It was an absolute job trying to guess the fairytales as a new one would pop. And I do say guess because that’s how well she took elements of the original fairytales and made it her own.
We follow our leading lady Peerah Phan (very close pronunciations to Peter Pan), a 30 year old dancer trying to still figure out her place in the world. She holds a big secret from those around her, she is The Thai bird princess The Kinnaree. After putting on a pair of cursed red shoes, she must fight for her life and her freedom. Enter in Bennett and his coalition of mythical misfits.
This was a very solid 4.5 stars for me. It has an epic fantasy feel with the writing style of a new adult fantasy romance. Very easy to read and follow, despite the many POVs. It would easily fall under the tropes of found family and coming of age.
I think the mains thing that didn’t make it 5 stars for me was some of the thought processes from our main character. I understand and can appreciate a 30 year old still needing to find her way in life and who she wants to be. Heck I very much relate to that, but somethings I felt that the author went almost too young with her thoughts. Drake did this so often, if it wasn’t for a few adult scenes, I would have classified this as a young adult story.
That aside, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I look forward to read, what will undoubtedly be a must read series!
