A cute story however I think the author missed a great opportunity in delving more into Xavier’s and Brittany’s family drama and trauma. Both of their “recoveries” from their childhood trauma was so glossed over, the story felt rushed and incomplete. While I liked Xavier’s dirty talking, I felt most of their interactions were sexual which meant we didn’t really see them as a couple outside the ‘bedroom’. A fun read but nothing exceptional.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC/Brazen for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a super cute book, and the characters have great chemisty. Really liked Brittany and Xavier. 3.5 stars

Xavier and Brittany were an enjoyable couple. Xavier is a self-made man who grew up in foster care. He works hard to bring programs and support to kids who are just like him. He's trying to keep his image squeaky clean to get a spot on the board of kids program. But when he sees Brittany, he's mesmerized and drawn to her. Brittany came from money, but there were too many stipulations attached to the funds. She is barely making ends meet, but she'd rather do that than submit to the circus that her mother wants for her. Brittany and Xavier's worlds collide right when she finds out she's pregnant. They both stand up for their beliefs regardless of the results which forges a new trajectory for both of them. They open up to each other about their pasts and their fears, their dreams and their hopes. It was a beautiful healing journey!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

One Night Stand with Benefits by Amanda Usem, a new to me author, about a couple who have an unexpected consequence after sizzling night together. Xavier and Brittany’s connection is instant from the minute they lock eyes at her best friend and his foster brother’s joint bachelor/ bachelorette party. They share one incredible night together, without any strings. Xavier is clear he only does one night per woman. Brittany doesn't want to want more, but she does. At the wedding a month later, they reconnect but Xavier holds to one-night only when Brittany seeks more. He ends up regretting this and seeks her out. In the meantime, Brittany has learned that she carries a small but growing souvenir of their previous one-night together. Expecting Xavier to bolt, she is surprised when he changes his tune; wanting everything, but without love. Xavier’s childhood left him with a fear of abandonment while hers left her feeling inadequate in so many ways. Xavier is hard working, loyal and wants to help underprivileged kids. Brittany is loving, dedicated, talented and just wants to be loved for who she is. His fears get in the way for a while, but eventually they are able to find a path to happiness. I highly recommend One Night Stand with Benefits to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This was a new to me author but the book premise sounded interesting. I love a good surprise pregnancy!

We have Xavier, a one night only guy, and Brittany, a woman trying to make her wedding planning business a success. They meet, have their one night, she ends up pregnant and they date, fall in love and live HEA.

This story just didn’t pull me in and was super unbelievable (it’s a book I know they’re not super realistic) in a way where the facts of the story previously presented did not make sense. Did I binge it; yes. Was it cute; yes. However Brittany who started out strong turned whiny and needy. She also told Xavier, after they’d only dated a week, you don’t love me I can’t be with you. I’m like umm WTF. Then he was like wait I’ve only known her a week I love her so much and spent a month showing her love (not saying the words) and she ignores him but takes and loves everything he’s done. This juvenile stuff just turns me off and annoys the crap out of me.

Neither character worked through their family issues and yet we’re supposed to believe that he went to therapy because he got the contact info for one and that she forgave her mother and talked to her weekly after one short conversation just forgetting years and years of verbal abuse. Yeah nope! Didn’t happen and disappointed me because with his past foster care trauma and parents death having him, a successful person, actually go to therapy could have been a huge opening.

Overall quick cute romance read though. Thank you Entangled via Netgalley for the arc of this book.

Amanda Usen was a new author for me, but I do love an unexpected pregnancy trope so I was happy to receive an ARC of this book. This book (mostly) hit the spot for me.

Brittany and Xavier have an amazing one-night stand at the bachelor/bachelorette party for her best friend and his foster brother. Expecting Xavier to bolt, she is surprised (as is the reader) when he is almost immediately all in. Their love story evolves from there.

Brittany was a bit too needy for me. Her family issues scarred her but she didn't seem to be working through them, and the resolution of these issues did not ring true. I don't expect realism in romances but this one was just not in line with all we have already been told. Xavier's 180 from wanting only a single night to ostensibly wanting everything, albeit without love (he thinks, anyway), is a little fast for me, but I did like that it took him time to work through deeper issues. I loved the inclusion of therapy. In the end. I found this a decent quick read.

3.5 stars rounded to 4. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

Xavier and Brittany’s connection is instant from the minute they lock eyes at her best friend and his foster brothers joint bachelor/ bachelorette party. This was a fun and quick read. Xavier and Brittany share some super hot chemistry that burned up my kindle. Though a predictable storyline, I had fun reading it. Amanda Usen is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more from here.

Between her burlesque troupe, launching her own business, and planning her bestie’s wedding—not to mention her hard-to-please, extra-privileged family—Brittany Adair has exactly zero interest in anything more than a bit of fun tonight. And with Xavier, it’s a lot of fun.
One incredible night, no strings. That’s all it was ever supposed to be. But soon, what started as a hot little hook-up results in them sharing a tiny little secret... an entertaining read. And am voluntarily leaving my review.

MY REVIEW:
I'd not heard of this author previously, but was willing to take a chance on this book.

A one night stand turns into an unexpected pregnancyt, add in a misunderstanding and some hard childhoods, and you have the common plot that this book is based on.

I was not a fan of Brittany, she wasn't well developed as a character and was far too needy for my tastes. I also found it hard to relate to her insta-love of Xavier.

Although this plot has obviously been done a million times before, and is utterly predictable, it was still a fun read.

Super quick and easy to read, finished in an hour.

RATING:
3.5/5 rounding up to 4/5 because this book reminded me of my own Xavier.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

This is a hot and awesome story. Xavier and Brittany make for an exciting couple. The scenes in the story a vibrant and presents a vivid picture for the reader. Coupled with the wonderful characters it makes for a great crowd pleaser. It is a pleasant story with a fast burning buildup to the happy end.

One Night Stand with Benefits is the first book I have read by Amanda Usen. Xavier and Brittany meet at an engagement party and have a one night stand. Brittany would have liked more, but Xavier doesn't do relationships. I really liked Xavier and thought Ms. Usen did a good job of letting us into his head. I didn't feel like Brittany was as well developed and I really didn't like her insta love for Xavier. She came across as extremely needy and I had a hard time reconciling that Xavier would fall for someone that needy. I did enjoy the book and it was good enough that I look forward to reading more by this author. Strong 3.5 stars rounded to a 4.

This was a new author to me and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. Brittany and Xavier has scorching chemistry right of the bat. Xavier is the brother of Brittany's best friend and they meet the night before her best friends wedding. Things take a steamy turn at the wedding rehearsal. Xavier is trying to prove that his play boy image is just a farce and he tries his best to stay away from Brittany, even although he couldn’t stop thinking about her either. To not give much a way lets just say they are in for quite the ride. This book was so enjoyable and I will be looking forward to reading more books by this author.

**Thanks to NetGalley and Amanda Usen for an arc in exchange for an honest review**

Xavier lives quite a solitary life and doesn’t let many people in, so when he meets Brittany at his brother’s joint bachelor party he doesn’t expect anything more than one night, Brittany is his brother’s wife to be best friend. After their night together she doesn’t expect anything more, but can’t seem to stop thinking about him. They both have a lot going on in their lives and don’t see each other again until the wedding. Xavier is trying to prove a point about his play boy image and deliberately stays away from Brittany, even although he couldn’t stop thinking about her either. It turns out fate has other ideas for them and left them with a little suprise after their night together. When Brittany tells Xavier he realises he is scared but delighted. He vows to be there for Brittany and the baby, which is great, but she needs more. I felt for them both as I could understand the way they were both feeling. Xavier’s childhood left him with fear of abandonment and her’s left her feeling inadequate in so many ways. Xavier is hard working, loyal and wants to do good for underprivileged kids. Brittany is loving, dedicated, talented and just wants to be loved for who she is. His fears get in the way for a while, but eventually we get the HEA we are hoping for. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
