This book captured my attention from the beginning. There wasn’t lots of info dumping and everything dealing with the roles of the characters and even the serial killings were explained in a nice, concise way. Overall, the book was simple and enjoyable, definitely recommend.

I have come to think of this series as a definite "auto-buy" so when I was awarded this ARC, I was thrilled. We are 10 books into this series and as far as I'm concerned, it is only getting better.

I was curious though, to see if Mr. Dugoni was going to inject any of the current issues that the Seattle Police Department has been facing in the last 2 years. Not political drama, but the real life issues regarding the drop in the levels of staffing and the budget cuts that have come about from the "defunding" of the police. Because he is and has been so consistently realistic with the series and actually has real life retired SPD consultants who help him, I wondered. I'm happy to say that yes, he did, but he did it in such a way that it kept politics out of it. I think that it did a really great job of showing the difficulty that these officers are facing with rising crime and less police officers.

So, about the book. Tracy is just coming off the latest case that dealt with the long ago corruption in the department and because of her findings, she is in somewhat of a very fragile truce with the Chief of Police. They both know that Tracy is aware of the Chief's illegal actions, but they also both know that Tracy cannot prove it.

So the Chief puts Tracy in the public eye by announcing to the city of Seattle that she is reopening a serial killer case from 25 years ago that had 13 female victims and it was never solved. To top it off, the leader of that task force at the time was none other than Johnny Nolasco - her long time nemesis....and her Captain. Chief Weber does this knowing that these two have an AWFUL relationship and Nolasco is NOT happy thinking that Crosswhite is going to try to show all the shortcomings of the task force.

In true Dugoni fashion, things take off quickly and really do not stop until the end. The one thing that touched me the most was Nolasco. It was HARD to begin to see him in a different light. Don't get me wrong, he's still a first class jerk, but he was somehow....more ...ummmm... human?? Not sure if that is the right way to describe it, but after 10 books of pretty much hating him, it was...different...to see him in a new light.

This was another winner and I'm ready and waiting for the next book.

I haven’t read a Robert Dugoni novel before. So I’m entering the Tracy Crosswhite series at #10.
Being part of a series you may think it hard to get into the novel, but it’s not. To me it read just like a standalone, a bit of inference to other back stories but you don’t need to have read them together the picture. Very well written and easy to read.
Tracy team’s up with Captain Nolasco. Two people who don’t always see eye to eye. nolasco was on the original case 25 years ago and Tracy is looking into the cold case.
I enjoyed the story and will definitely start reading from number one.

I did enjoy this crime thriller read. The pacing of the book was perfect and was a quick read as it was entertaining. There are a lot of twists which I enjoyed. I could figure out the murderer but that did not hinder me from finishing the book. The characters were also very well written and enjoyable. It was definitely a good book that I would recommend but it did not stand out for me exceptionally. That being said it did give what it set out a deliver. I am definitely interested to read more from this author though.

It's so great to see Crosswhite's progression and maturity as a character. The plot is well written and formulated, love the details and flashbacks. My only complaint is the lack of story for Dan. I always loved their relationship.

Sometime you just need a good crime novel and this hit the spot. Can confirm that you don’t need to have read the other nine Tracy Crosswhite books in order to understand this one. I did guesss who the killer was before it was revealed but that didn’t impact my enjoyment of the book

One Last Kill by Robert Dugoni is the tenth book in the Tracy Crosswhite series. A standard cold case detective story for fans of light reading.

The inquiry into Seattle's Route 99 serial killer has been restarted by Tracy Crosswhite. The police ceased hunting after thirteen victims, and the lack of a lead led to public outcry. Almost three decades after his first murder, Tracy is now anticipated to provide the families of the victims with closure and restore the Seattle PD's reputation. even if it means collaborating with Captain Johnny Nolasco, her archenemy.

Tracy and Nolasco, who have formed an uncomfortable alliance, follow up on previous leads and look into new evidence only to discover high-level corruption and cover-ups that are just as dangerous as the assassin himself. Such terrible and powerful forces will try anything to avoid being seen in order to remain hidden.

The story twist itself wasn't bad, however it would not have come as a huge surprise to those who had read a fair number of mystery thrillers and whodunnits. Tracy and Nolasco are typical detectives, she is described as highly capable and Nolasco is portrayed as an old-school cop, distrustful of women on the force.

Although I am aware that this book and his entire series are well-loved and admired, this did not do much for me personally. I did not enjoy reading this book because of the incessant browbeating, the truly repeated and pointless conflict and misunderstanding, and the overall tendency for the plot to go sideways rather than straight.

It is sort of like watching a television series within the series.

One Last Kill is the last in the series of detective Tracey Crosswhite. I enjoyed the read but there was a constant reminder of past happenings in previous books within the series ( too much to take in). It was well written and exciting in its own right. however I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read more in the series.

I don't know what really happened? It seems like only yesterday I found this series and now I've read the tenth book. Robert Dugoni is a great storyteller and One Last Kill is no exception. It ties three books together but you can read them separately. (If you like) The surprises I got in this book is plenty and some where good and some where bad. I really like this series and think that it's the best by Dugoni although I miss the cowboy action shooting. (wink, wink) There is some great twists and turns in the story sadly I figured out who was the killer before Tracy, maybe I should apply for Seattles cold case squad? Dugoni has a wonderful flow in his books that makes them a pleasure to read, don't skip over this author. A big thanks to Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for letting me read this book.

I am new to the author’s work, and I realise that this is the 10th book in the series, and the finale of a trilogy within the series. Right of the bat, I was not immediately drawn to the story. The book sashayed a lot, between the narratives of Tracy and Nolasco, and their animosity that was a result of bruised egos, and the obvious gender disparity and superiority complex. Even if, it was set aside in the end, to see the common end goal, most of the book seemed to be addressing that.
The story is told in split timelines, one from 1995-96, and then the current times. A serial killer prowled the streets of Seattle, and quickly upgraded from murdering prostitutes to targeting seemingly random middle class wives and mothers. The mystery remained unsolved, when the killer stopped their killing spree, and the task force was disbanded, and Nolasco, a rising star was to step down from the podium of his glory. The case is reopened by the now Chief of police, more in an efforts to discredit and to the aim of making Tracy a scapegoat, rather than for the closure of the case itself. She is tasked to work with Nolasco, though despite being a straight arrow, is certainly not one to warm up to her(basically because she outshone his records at the academy, and was more competent?).

The book from the get go, pits the two police officers, with Tracy characterised as the hyper-rational, Uber intelligent rising star who has this Midas touch with solving cold cases, and Nolasco as this highly volatile, egotistical man, who thinks Tracy’s sole aim is to discredit him, hog all the glory, and humiliate him for not solving the case. Seeing this, I doubted they would work together ever, and even though I had expected more conflict, and petty fights, it did not progress that way. The plot twist itself was good, but maybe not as much of a surprise to people who have read their fair share of whodunnits, and mystery thrillers, but it was not shoddy.
I was a little more than surprised to find inconsistencies in the narrative, well towards the ending, which threw me off.
I know this book, as well his entire series are well loved and liked, but personally for me this did not do much. The constant brow-beating, and quite frankly repetitive and unnecessary conflict and misunderstanding, and overall tendency for the narrative to be sideways than straight was not something I enjoyed reading. There are references to previous books, and you do get an idea about it all even as you read the book, and I did not find myself scrambling for context. That being said, I have the curiosity bug itching me to read the other short stories and books in the trilogy, but how long that bug would last, and if I would indulge it, remains to be see.

Another incredible Tracy Crosswhite twisted turning thriller.
Tracy is still assigned to the cold case unit, well she is the unit. And she’s been asked to bring fresh eyes to a decades old serial killer case.
As she works it things just are as they appear and there are questions that should have been answered by the original task force that worked it.
Tracy is going to get into this much deeper than she expected with Allie’s and enemies all looking at her.

Really enjoyed this and highly recommend it as well as the entire series, you won’t be disappointed.

I've read several books by Robert Dugoni and have always found them to be fast paced, interesting and hard to put down. This one was no different. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

The 10th Tracy Crosswhite , ONE LAST KILL, will definitely send me back to past and future books in the series.

I will read anything this author writes!! I have loved this series as well as his incredible standalone novels.

Tracy has just come back from a much needed break, finally able to spend time with her husband and young daughter.

The chief of police has just found out that the newspaper is about to run a story on the 13 unsolved crimes committed by a serial killer 25 years in the past. She wants Tracy to try to stay ahead of the story, which obviously sheds a bad light on the department – there are 13 families who want closure for their lost daughters and wives.

Tracy is paired up with Johnny Nolasco who was her nemesis in past books. He was the lead investigator 25 years ago and spent countless hours following up leads only to finally come to a dead end. The killings stopped and the cases were sent to the Cold Case Unit, Tracy is the head of the unit but very much under the thumb of the Chief who is jealous of the attention and fame that Tracy has accrued from solving past cases.

We don’t see much of Del and Faz, her old partners from the Violent Crime Unit in this novel and that was a bit of a loss. Once they get going on the investigation she finds that Nolasco actually truly cared deeply about these killings and wants closure as much as Tracy does.They learn to appreciate each other's strengths and work well together.

There is less action in this installment and a lot more problem solving, which I enjoyed. They make good use of the advances in DNA evidence which has changed a lot in 25 years!! They do have a sample from one of the killings and they hope that will help find the killer.

This novel started a bit slow for me but the second half was stellar. There are several twists that I certainly didn’t see coming and the ending was excellent!!

Lovers of this series will not be disappointed and I highly recommend this novel to everyone. It can work as a standalone but it would be best to read them in order to understand the relationships and politics within the police department and the pressure that Tracy is under!!

I am a huge fan of Robert Dugoni. He can truly make a masterpiece from any genre. This one however, was not for me. This book unfortunately dragged for me and I felt it could’ve been much shorter. Found some chapters to be incredibly slow paced..

I really did like the book once we field got to the DNA connection but then the book was a bit ruined because of a very frustrating ending which kind frustrated me. I did not get a satisfying resolution and most of it just felt unfair.

Ohhhh I loved this book. This book was a great read, fast paced, kept me on the edge of my seat. Lots of twists and turns and didn’t turn out the way I thought but still loved it. I would definitely recommend this to people who like a strong female lead and detective POV mysteries! I will continue to read this author for sure! Thank you NetGalley for the arc.

One Last Kill is the 10 installment in the Tracy Crosswhite series. I have read every one and there are so many positive things to say about this writer’s style.
Action packed and electrifying
Fast paced
Multi dimensional characters. The protagonist’s character engages the reader.

However, a very frustrating ending which ruined the great story. Thus, the lower rating. I hope this is a one-off . The denouement is so important, and this one is disappointing. However, it won’t deter me from reading more from Me. Dugoni, as I’ve enjoyed reading all his works.

This was only my second title in the Tracy Crosswhite series, so I was concerned that missing some of the incoming storyline would affect my full understanding of the story and character relationships. However, Dugoni does a great job of laying everything out. There are a lot of characters and character backgrounds presented at the beginning which seemed a bit much, but once the story got going, it was smooth. yet exciting reading. It's obvious that Dugoni really understands the ins and outs of an urban police/detective workforce incorporating characters from many different teams and personalities into the storyline. He also touches on the current Seattle political climate of having to deal with the defunding of the police force, without being overbearing. This book contains crime and mystery, corruption, lies, danger, excitement, clashing personalities and family relationships. It can be read as a standalone; however, I'm eagerly looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the eARC.
