Brilliant installment, perhaps one of my favourites in this series. Loved the changing relationship between the 2 enemies.

Book 10 in the series and boy what an addition.

Tracy is instructed to reopen an old case of a serial killer called the Route 99 killer. An unsolved case where the killer stopped killing many years ago, a local paper is running a series of stories on it leading up to its anniversary.
The task force set up to catch the killer never did and there was public outrage. Not wanting the negative press again and looking for an easy scapegoat, Tracy’s boss puts her on the case with her nemesis and superior Nolasco.

An unlikely partnership with plenty of history from previous books, their fractured relationship has to be put to one side as the killer starts killing again and they are under ever increasing pressure to find the culprit.

An utterly enthralling read that references past books aplenty, we have dirty cops, corrupt politicians and of course a serial killer.
Dugoni weaves you through the complex story and circumstances with ease as you turn another page in anticipation. A superbly crafted story, this series is one that just keeps giving thankfully.

Up there with, if not the strongest in the series so far. An absolute powerhouse of a book. Loved loved loved it.

Thanks for the publisher for the ARC through Netgalley.

I received this from Netgalley for an honest review. Tracy just received a nightmare of a cold case. She also knows her Chief wants her to fail. I must admit I thought I had it completely figured out. Wrong! The twist is going to get you. One great thriller.

If you’re a reader of Robert Dugoni’s Tracy Crosswhite series, you know that it’s no secret that there’s no love lost between her and Captain Johnny Nolasco, who trained her in the police academy when she was a rookie cop. Tracy is still working solo as the cold case team when Chief Marcella Weber orders Nolasco to assist Detective Crosswhite with a more than 25-year-old case in One Last Kill because the local paper is set to run a series about the murders. The chief is hoping that this time around the case can be wrapped up before the media can rub their noses in the mud once again. The first victims were prostitutes; the last four women were middle class. The killer has not killed for years. Does this mean he is incarcerated, moved, or perhaps dead? The story is told in both past and present so that the reader gets a sense of what occurred in the original investigation and what the two detectives are dealing with in the revived case.

Neither Nolasco nor Tracy is happy with the arrangement. There has always been bad blood between the pair, and Nolasco is jealous of Tracy’s success. He feels that she’s become a media darling and the chief’s favorite. The latter could not be farther from the truth, but Tracy lets that go for the time being. Nolasco led the investigation the first time around, and he’d like nothing better than to take the wind out of Tracy’s sails now. Tracy, ever the professional, simply wants to catch the guy and save lives.

Too late. After the department holds a press conference announcing the reopening of the case, Tracy fears that the killing may start again. It doesn’t take long before a body is found. Could it be a copycat, or has the murderer re-emerged to finish what he started. What message is he trying to send? And will the two old foes be able to work together to bring a killer to justice, or will the police be stymied once again?

Robert Dugoni has penned a carefully crafted police procedural, highlighting his star detective, Tracy Crosswhite. Due to her experience, she is always trying to think at least one step ahead of the murderer, anticipating as if it were a chess match. Unfortunately, her chief does not always agree due to her own corrupt tendencies. Complicating matters is the fact that since the very beginning of the case it has been evident that there is a mole in the department. For those who read this series, there are references to the newspaper reporter who disappeared, Lisa Childress, who is featured in the previous book (What She Found), as well as her daughter Lisa, who appears in this story. It may be helpful to read that book to understand some of the complexities of the political nature of the events that occur, past and present.

Dugoni’s plot is brilliant, his characters believable, and now I can’t wait for the next one!

I received an ARC of One Last Kill in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer, and the author.

Another great installment in this series. The characters are well rounded and come across as believable, whether you love them or hate them. This provocative, somewhat dark and twisted story grabs you from the first page and keeps you guessing until the very end where the author inserts a deliciously wicked twist.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer who provided me with a copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Thank you so much to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley.

I love the Tracy Crosswhite series and was absolutely thrilled to see another one! Dugoni is a master at crafting a thrilling series with a main character who is strong, smart, and fearless. Tracy also has a lot of heart. In this one, Tracy has to work alongside on a cold case that is hitting the papers for a special anniversary edition. I can't pick a favorite in this series, but this one is so good. I was on the edge of my seat. I really hope there is another coming!

I have ready every book in this series and loved them all. I wait for them to come out and devour them in a day and this one was no exception. Can’t wait for the next one. Recommended to anyone who likes crime thrillers with a female protagonist.

This is book 10 in the Tracey Crosswhite series and you definitely need to have read at least the previous 3 or so books in order to understand the characters and plot points.
In ‘One Last Kill’ Tracey is ordered by her boss to look into the most well known cold case in Seattle’s history. The Route 99 serial killer caused terror and panic in the late 90’s when he killed 13 women and then suddenly stopped. And now it’s up to Tracey and her arch nemesis Captain Johnny Nolasco to solve the decades old murders and make the Settle Police Department look good.
For the most part I liked ‘One Last Kill’. It was interesting to learn a bit more of the back story of Captain Nolasco, it definitely explained why he is like he is and why he treats Tracey like he does. And it’s always good to catch up with Faz, Del and Co.
But there was a lot I didn’t enjoy about the book. I had an inkling about who the murderer was about half way through ‘One Last Kill’ and while that was ok by me, when it came to the ‘big reveal’ moment, I found the killers motions somewhat lacking and confusing. And don’t get me started on the rest of the ending. It really irritated me that powerful people got away with what they did. Nobody wants to read a story where the rich and power don’t even get a slap on the wrist for any misery they might cause. I thought it brought down the victory that Tracey and Captain Nolasco got. Very disappointing. And the ending is the reason I’m only giving ‘One Last Kill’ 3.5 stars.

5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I think this one might be the best in the series!

One Last Kill is the 10th book in the Tracy Crosswhite series. Robert Dugoni writes an excellent crime thriller with this one.

The police procedures and forensics are very realistic and gripping in this series. The tension and buildup in One Last Kill had me on the edge of my seat with wanting to find out who the Route 99 killer was.

Twenty-five years ago, Seattle had a serial killer targeting prostitutes on SR 99. After many women were killed, the killer aka the "Angel of Death" switches up his targets and starts killing women who are PTA moms or working professionals who live in nice neighborhoods.

Obviously the city and mayor cannot have this type of stain on the city (cue sarcasm) and puts pressure on SPD to put more focus on the killings.

In all honesty, I loved how Dugoni shows a light on how society does not have the same sense of urgency when a prostitute is killed. Well done sir!

The Seattle Police Department’s task force never finds the killer and then one day, the "Angel of Death" just stops.
It’s still one of the biggest cold cases for SPD.

Cue 25 years later.

Detective Tracy Crosswhite was put on cold cases for the last few years and she’s been informed by the chief of police that she's now working on this murder mystery.
SPD wants to get ahead of the bad publicity since Seattle Times is writing a 25-year anniversary article on how the serial killer was never caught.

Tracy ends up being paired up with her nemesis, Sergeant Detective Nolasco who was the original lead detective on the task force.
I loved all of the uneasiness between these two! I just couldn't look away because the drama was great between them. 😂🤣

I read One Last Kill in two days.

I couldn't put this one down due to excellent characters, the storyline is super strong, and the tension is fantastic.

If you are looking for a great crime detective thriller, check out this series.
Dugoni is an excellent writer and he makes you feel like you’re living a real-life case while flipping the pages.

I’m super excited for the next book in the series after plowing through this one!

I was completely enthralled by the twisty mystery of One Last Kill by Robert Dugoni! Although it's the tenth book in the series, it works brilliantly as a standalone, drawing me in from the very first page. Detective Tracy Crosswhite takes center stage as she reopens the investigation into Seattle's Route 99 serial killer, who vanished after thirteen victims, leaving the trail cold and the public outraged. With her nemesis, Captain Johnny Nolasco, daring her to succeed where he failed, Tracy embarks on a thrilling journey that uncovers high-level corruption and dangerous cover-ups. The alternating chapters in dual timelines expertly weave the present investigation with the past, keeping me guessing at every turn. Science, genetics, political secrets, and a chilling comeback by the killer all come together in a captivating narrative that had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Tracy Crosswhite's character shines as a dedicated and thorough detective with a loving family, making me eager to explore the previous books in the series. This gripping mystery left me hungry for more, and I'm grateful to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC. My honest opinion is that One Last Kill is a must-read for all mystery enthusiast!

The Tracy Crosswhite series are must read books for me. This latest installment continues the series with the same entertaining and well plotted narrative of the earlier novels in the series. Still going strong. Recommended.

Detective Tracy Crosswhite is literally one of my favourite characters ever written, as she is a well rounded, totally functional person.

I was very excited getting into this book, and it did not disappoint.

Immersive writing, seamless time shifts, witty banter, and compelling characters. One Last Kill delivers it all.

Tracy Crosswhite is reopening the investigation into Seattle’s Route 99 serial killer. After thirteen victims, he stopped hunting and the trail went cold, stirring public outrage. Now, nearly three decades after his first kill, Tracy is expected to finally bring closure to the victims’ families and redeem the Seattle PD’s reputation. Even if it means working with her nemesis, Captain Johnny Nolasco.

Lead detective of the original task force, Nolasco dares Tracy to do what he failed to: close the case. Forming an uneasy alliance, Tracy and Nolasco revisit old leads and pursue new evidence only to unearth high-level corruption and cover-ups as dangerous as the elusive killer himself. At the risk of being exposed, such deadly and powerful forces will go to extremes to stay in the shadows.

That’s just where Tracy and Nolasco are headed—to find the twisted truth behind a killer’s motives, his disappearance, and his chilling comeback.

The twist at the end wasn't very convincing, but it has been executed really well. And despite its predictability, the red herrings and the clues all were tied up very well.

The book has a consistent pace, with the clues thrown in at adequate intervals, and is grim, justifying the tone of the book. The procedural aspect seems well researched, and adds to the overall authenticity of the book.

Robert Dugoni is a fantastic writer, and his works are a must read.

When a local newspaper is about to print a series of stories about the 25 year old unsolved Route 99 murders, Seattle Chief of Police wants to solve the case before the department is embarrassed. That task is given to one woman cold case Detective Tracy Crosswhite. Assigned to help her is her nemesis, Captain Johnny Nolasco. As she feared, the publicity given to the murders results in a new killing by the long dormant perpetrator. As she follows the clues, they lead back to the department as well as City Hall.

I have a few go- to can’t miss series that I follow and one of them features prolific writer Robert Dugoni’s Tracy Crosswhite. This is the tenth book in the series. It is also the third of a trilogy within that series. However, it reads well as a standalone. There is one problem with this series…whenever a new one is available, everything else in my life stops as I compulsively read it from cover to cover.

Well plotted, with great characterizations, twists, turns, red herrings, and a dual timeline, this is yet another worthy addition to the series. References to real life cases such as the Green River killer and Ted Bundy added authenticity to this fictional investigation. Although I thought it fairly easy to guess the killer’s identity at one point in the book, that did not take away from my enjoyment of it. Some may find the ending frustrating, other will find it quite realistic. For those who enjoy mysteries, crime thrillers, or police procedurals, especially those featuring a strong, capable female, I highly recommend this book and all the ones that came before it. I can’t wait for the next one. If you are not familiar with Robert Dugoni’s works, do acquaint become acquainted with them.

A rollercoaster of terror.

I absolutely adore the Tracey Crosswhite books! This book is a perfect addition to the series. This new novel follows Tracey and her new “partner/nemesis” Captain Nolasco as they take on the infamous Route 99 serial killer. I enjoyed how the story went back and forth between present day and 20 years in the past (when Nolasco first began his search for the killer).

I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a fan of anything Robert Dugoni writes! Thanks to Netgalley for the arc!

This is an amazing book! Although this is #10 in a series and I haven’t read any of the previous books I had no problem understanding what was happening. I like that this book has more than one plot that all work together. You have two task forces looking for a killer along with adversaries forced to work together. The ending is unexpected. I am pleased to read the author intends to continue writing this series. If you like a well written Murder/thriller you would probably enjoy this book. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Tracy Crosswhite and her team back for the latest installment of this police murder mystery, Set in Seattle the book jumps back and forth from the mid 1990's to present day when her captain Weber reopens an unsolved case of 13 women who were murdered and the person responsible never been caught.
On the anniversary from 25 years before the newspaper publishes an article about the unsolved crimes a prostitute is attacked in a motel and a suspected person of interest suddenly becomes is questioned.
The book takes you on a roller coaster ride with an excellent conclusion that puts this case to bed. This is not a stand alone book so it would be better to go back and read the earlier books by Dugoni to get more background in the series but certainly can be enjoyed without doing so, Lots of characters and great action.

One Last Kill is the 10th entry in the popular Tracy Crosswhite series by author Robert Dugoni. This one can be read as standalone but I’d recommend reading the others to get the most enjoyment out of this. This book managed to pull off an incredible feat – it made me actually like Nolasco! I found I really enjoyed his POV sections and the character depth explored in this one. Overall, this one was an enjoyable, fun to read and fast-paced police procedural. Tracy and colleagues are investigating a serial killer cold case. This one had red herrings, twists and turns and intriguing mystery we have come to love and expect in this series. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next for Tracy and her team.

ONE LAST KILL is the 10th installment in the best-selling Tracy Crosswhite series. In this story, Tracy has been relegated to the cold case unit, and is its sole officer. Not what she wants. She wants back in the field. Fate would intervene. As the local newspaper plans to publish a series of articles on the three—decade-old Route 99 serial killer case, and to trash the Seattle PD’s lack of performance, Tracy is ordered to reopen the investigation, and to solve it. She resists, saying that the killer has been dormant and kicking a sleeping dog might not be the best strategy. Very prophetic. Making things worse, she is ordered to work with Captain Johnny Nolasco, who earlier failed to solve the case and with whom Tracy has had long-standing conflicts. As the reluctant partners dig into the case, the killer does indeed awaken, and worse, they uncover evidence of high-level corruption by those who will do anything to protect their secrets. Page by page the tension mounts in this remarkable thriller.
