If you like reading cozy mysteries that make you wonder, who did it, gives you great characters, along with a Halloween theme this is just the right book for you to get to read.
Poppy owns a Bed and Breakfast and this year things gets the part of the Haunted House Tour because a previous guest thinks the house is haunted.
This is the best of the series for me so far and I am positive that each one will get better as they come.
Libby Klein has a knack for writing a cozy mystery that gives you so much fun.
Thank you NetGalley, Libby Klein and Kensington Books for the copy of Mischief Nights Are Murder. This is my personal review.
Libby Klein's mysteries are my go-to read when I want to laugh and enjoyed a solid mystery. Figaro is a plus and I love him.
This is an excellent story that I thoroughly enjoyed and kept me guessing.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Are you ready to ditch the hot temperatures, and settle into Fall, with a side of spooky Halloween vibes? Then you NEED to read the latest mystery in the Poppy McAllister Mysteries by Libby Klein.
Poppy and her Aunt Ginny are back for more shenanigans in Mischief Nights are Murder. This time Aunt Ginny has roped Poppy into a Haunted House Tour. The only problem is their B&B isn't haunted! Before they know it they have a pet psychic, a paranormal researcher and a undercover tabloid reporter staying with them, all hoping for a piece of the paranormal action. When one of them dinner guests turns up dead, it is up to Poppy to do the impossible and find the killer!
I love visiting with Poppy, her boyfriend Gia [fictional crush alert!] and Aunt Ginny! Ginny is always causing strife. Right from the first book she's been making Poppy's life more interesting, but also full of murder and trouble! Mischief Nights are Murder is no different. This time Aunt Ginny has roped Poppy into hosting a week of Haunted House Tours and Dinners! Naturally with Poppy's bad luck of finding dead bodies, she strikes again with a cheating professor!
The mystery itself was intriguing, and I wasn't able to solve it before Poppy, despite trying to pick up clues along the way! However, I come back to this series again and again for the relationships. Not just Poppy and Gia's, but the shenanigans that Aunt Ginny and her biddies get up to! And of course Gia's family... especially his mama!
If you love a Halloween-centric mystery, you can't miss this one! It's simply delightful and perfect to curl up with and imagine we are in the cooler climates!
Just when I didn't think this series could get any funnier it proved me wrong...again. I snickered in tons of places, but actually laughed out loud a lot too. I mean, who else but Poppy could get herself involved in a showdown that's actually funny, right? A well-placed clue somewhere around maybe halfway or before made me start suspecting someone and I ended up being right.
From the Biddies' and Ginny's crazy shenanigans to little 'jobs' Amber got Poppy involved in so she could spy for her on the various ghost tours, it was at least a laugh a page or two in some places. The description of what was going on along with the funny dialogue always are my fave things to read. That scene with Gia's momma was priceless! I could pick out so many more but why not just read it and laugh for yourself! It's available soon, Tuesday July 25, 2023. Oh and don't forget to read the epilogue 'cause it's gonna have you going "I neeeeeed the next book!" And the recipes sound pretty delish as well.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Kensington Cozies via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.
I was given Mischief Nights are Murder by Libby Klein in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley. Mysteries and Halloween are the perfect combination. This book follows Poppy who runs a bed and breakfast and happens upon murders quite regularly.
I enjoyed the mystery, but it was a little hard to keep up with all the characters. There is a lot of humor along with a bit of supernatural. I will definitely read more in this series.
Aunt Ginny might be my favorite cozy character of all time; she’s always good for a laugh or inappropriate comment. I loved the many intertwined storylines in this book with the mystery being well-paced and intriguing, leaving me guessing until the reveal. The characters feel like family and I’m always sad when it ends. I enjoyed the added bonus of Halloween and the ghost hunters. The ending leaves you with a huge cliffhanger; looking forward to seeing how that all plays out.
Mischief Nights are Murder by Libby Klein is the most recent book in the Poppy McAllister series. I've read several of the prior books in this series and I like Poppy. I also like the direction the series has taken in her professional life (running a Bed and Breakfast with her eccentric Aunt Ginny) and in her love life. This book has a Halloween theme and Poppy's B&B is taking part in a haunted dinner tour. When one of the dinner guests is murdered, Poppy is back in action as an amateur sleuth.
The book is a quick read with lots of humor. I would have enjoyed the book more if it wasn't for a couple of very unlikable side characters that are hard to take. I appreciate long epilogues and I liked the ending. However, I was disappointed that it ends on a very big cliffhanger. For those you like recipes in their cozies, there are several at the end of the book that those on a gluten-free diet will especially like. I would rate the book 3.5 stars.
I received an advance copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley and Kensington Books, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
Haunted house tour, paranormal investigators, undercover tabloid reporters, pet psychics, and Aunt Ginny… what could go wrong?
Poppy and the gang are back at it in this hilarious addition to Libby Klein’s series. I highly recommend this text and the entire series. The mystery was interesting and held my attention. Added bonus, Poppy finally stands up for herself and shuts down the bullies.
My first Libby Klein cozy and I loved it. It's the 8th in the Poppy McAllister mystery series but I had no issues reading it as a standalone. I'll definitely be picking up the others in the future. Super funny antics in this one and the murder mystery totally had me guessing the whole way through. This is another Halloween themed cozy which was fun. There are alot of characters in this book, but that didn't bother me. Can't wait to check the others in this series.
Out July 25.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. My review will be posted on Instagram, Bookbub, Goodreads, and Amazon once it publishes.
Mischief Nights are Murder is the eighth cozy mystery in the A Poppy McAllister Mystery series. It is Halloween time at Poppy McAllister’s B&B and they are a stop on the Cape May Haunted Dinners Tour. When Poppy’s tendency to find dead bodies strikes again, she is stuck in the middle of another murder investigation.
This is the first book I have read in this series, but, for the most part, I think this can be read as a standalone. I found this to be a fun mystery with a lot of humor, but some of the characters were a little odd, especially Aunt Ginny. I also found that there were a lot of characters in general, almost too many to keep track of. I think if I had read from the beginning of the series, I would have met some of the recurring characters earlier and be more familiar with them. Anyway, I found this to be a good Halloween themed cozy mystery and I liked this book enough that I’m going to start this series from the beginning. I’m always a sucker for Halloween cozies and this was a good one!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!
Mischief Nights Are Murder by Libby Klein is due to be published July 25 2023 by Kensington Books is the 8th book in the Poppy McAllister mystery series.
Poppy is a Gluten-free baker with her aunt Ginny were prepared for some pranks as the annual Mischief Night approached. But they weren't prepared for a murder at their B&B. Halloween, the Cape May Haunted House Tour, pranks, a pet psychic, rival paranormal researchers, a ghost hunting tv crew, Gia's mama and murder have Poppy McAllister ready to grab Gia, a gluten free muffin and hide until this night is over!
This kept me guessing all the way to the end and loved every second of it ! I haven’t read any of the others in the series so I may have missed a few big parts but this one flowed pretty nicely.
I loved the writing style, the characters and can’t wait to read more!
I highly recommend this book if you love a good small town murder mystery.
Poppy and Aunt Ginny decided to have their B&B be part of the Haunted Homes tour- why not?- but now it seems someone has decided to make it a place of murder! The paranormal researches staying there all have something to say (and one of them is bothering Poppy's cat Figaro) but it's Poppy and Ginny who sort out the good guys and the villains. Poppy's relationship with Gio has progressed (yay) but they've still got to deal with his pain of a mother. I like this series more for the interpersonal relationships than for the mysteries (although those are good too) and for the fact that everyone is, well, older. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A nice addition to the series.
Another stellar installment in this top notch series.
Believable and contemporary characters with a well paced and plotted mystery.
I cannot wait to read the nest one.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This is the 8th release in the series and one of my favorite of all the series. This has every element we cozy lovers enjoy. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley. My review opinion is my own.
This is the perfect Halloween theme book for our introduction into the autumn season. i enjoy the description of the "mischief festival". Poppy and her Aunt welcome a psychic and chaos ensues with lots of humor, sleuthing and fun supporting charcters we readers of this series love. I highly recommend this next in series. The sleuth kept me guessing to conclusion and I enjoyed every aspect of this next in this wonderful series.
This is book 8 in the Poppy McAllister mystery series and is the first I’ve read. I will now need to go back and read the rest of the series.
Poppy is participating in the Cape May Haunted Dinners Tour. During her first tour dinner, a parapsychology professor is killed during the dinner service. Being a serial cheater makes many people a suspect. Poppy along with Officer Amber try to figure out who had motive to commit murder.
I enjoyed the characters in this book. Joanne is annoying but I think she’s supposed to be. I loved pet psychic Owen and his relationship with Figaro and Princess.
All in all, this is a fun read with a Halloween theme. I’ll be looking for the next in the series.
Poppy and her gang are always a fun read and this was no exception. I miss Vicktory, but the new housekeeper seems like just as much of a character. I love that Gia is finally growing a backbone where his family is concerned. Great mystery, kept me guessing till the end!
You will laugh hysterically through this latest adventure of Poppy and Aunt Ginny.
As always with a Libby Klein book, the characters are believable, entertaining, and convincing. Owen, as the pet psychic, who relates to Poppy and Aunt Ginny Figaro thoughts, is a hoot and Aunt Ginny will have you howling through the entire book as she bats those innocent eyes of hers.
The plot was captivating with an interesting way to commit a murder. A field of compelling suspects, and a worthy moment, deserving of an Oscar, between Poppy and Gia’s mother. As always, the best conversations happen in Poppy’s head. Aunt Ginny has her moment in the spotlight getting even with the person or people responsible for setting up her yard with Halloween props. My sides still hurts from laughing so hard reading those pages. The ending is a jaw dropping moment and left me feeling excited about future books.
Ms. Klein is an excellent writer and never fails to entertain the readers with absorbing mysteries, laugh out loud moments, fascinating characters, mouthwatering recipes, and is one of the best story tellers around. And yes, she does include many of the recipes mentioned in the book at the end of the story.
My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions are my own.
The newest Poppy McAllister mystery takes place during spooky season! Poppy is struggling to manage her difficult guests at the inn when one winds up dead.
I’d recommend reading the previous ones in this series beforehand! Knowledge of the characters is key because there is not a lot of context given. However, if you like the previous ones, you are sure to enjoy this one!
You have to empathize with Poppy. She tries so hard to make things run smoothly in the bed and breakfast she operates with her Aunt Ginny but there are just so many sources working against her. On the plus side, she did finally stand up to a certain bully so maybe things will get a little better in the future.
Likeable and intentionally unlikeable characters keep this story fun and interesting. Both her aunt and cat keep Poppy on her toes and the readers chuckling. This is book 8 in the Poppy McAllister mystery series but could easily be read as a stand-alone. Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.
B&B owner Poppy McAllister is not happy when she's forced into taking part in the Cape May Haunted Dinners Tour with short notice. After finding several dead bodies, ghouls are eager to visit the murderous house. Her guests include a group of paranormal academics, TV ghost hunters, a pet psychic & a tabloid reporter. When one of the guests dies during the dinner, Poppy is forced to help her cop nemesis Amber by attending the remaining haunted dinner tour stops & watch out for signs of a killer. Meanwhile, Aunt Ginny has to deal with an escalating set of Halloween pranks & Poppy also agrees to help out at the Italian restaurant owned by her boyfriend Gio's mother when she breaks her hip.
This was another zany, hilarious entry in the Poppy McAllister mystery series.
I received a digital ARC from Netgalley and Kensington Books. All opinions are my own.
